It was beautiful. They decided on an outdoor wedding. There was talk of course, even among the nobles that came. Lucky for Kagome, Naoko and Sango were there. Sango stayed by Kagome as she paced the floors the night before, her angry and fire coming back full force.

He didn't even have the balls to come "I should purify him" She said out loud to herself. Sango smiled, she was glad to see some of her friend coming back.

"That might put a strain on a treaty between the West and the South" Sango stated half joking.

Kagome stopped pacing "I feel Lord Tashio."

Sure enough moments later Naoko knocked on her door "Kagome, Lord Tashio is here to greet you."

"Come in" Kagome called, her tummy in knots suddenly.

He walked in with a soft smile, her heart melted.

"Might I speak to the bride alone?"

Sango looked at Kagome, she nodded her head, and Sango bowed and took her leave, Naoko closed the door behind her.

"Kagome" He spoke soft, and she turned away "Was he too afraid to come"

He smirked "Yes," He said without hesitation.

"Don't let him hear you say that" She responded.

"Kagome my dear I am sorry."

She turned to look at him "You didn't do anything, it's not your fault."

"I forced you into this"

"I agreed."

She walked to the window and pulled back the sheers to see people gathering "Can I ask, why me?"

He sighed "You were a beautiful baby with eyes the held power" He walked up to her "You were a diamond in the rough, and you're very being called to mine."

"I am a Miko"

He smiled "I knew instantly that I wanted you for my son, my eldest."

She turned "But why."

"Sometimes my dear, you just know. You had fire and spirit, and I knew you would be great. I knew you would be a holder of the jewel locked in an immortal life."

She looked back out the window"You knew all that from looking into my eyes."

"Yes and I knew it would take something or rather someone like you to reach my son, I wanted to give him something to protect."

She looked at him again, heat in her eyes this time "I don't need protecting."

"I was hoping the opposites would be an attraction for you both"

She blushed remembering their heated fights.

"I was hoping he would come to dominate you, care for you, love you" He looked down "Protect you."

Kagome placed and hand on her belly "But he didn't"

He said nothing,

"He may have dominated me, but he didn't care or love me" She looked at him with tears forming in her eyes, "And he didn't, couldn't protect us, he never wanted to."

His jaw clenched at the sight of her pain.

"He is a coward."

His Lordship closed his eyes "Forgive me."

Far away back West golden eyes were snapping open.

"Afraid my son."

Sesshomaru's mother glided across the floor with an impressive cold stone face,

"I fear nothing."

She spared him no glance as she walked to a window and looked out over the land "Everyone has gone South, and yet you are here."

"I do not fear her."

"She does not fear you."

"Why are you here, mother."

She glanced back "Tell me my son does not the thought of the wolf impregnating her not enrage you when it was once your seed that grew in her ripe womb."

A growl escaped him before he could control it.

She looked away "Did you not think I did not know?"

She snorted "You forget your father impregnated me with you before he touched the human woman" She looked back at him "It was a rage I could do nothing about."

She walked away from the window "You are afraid."

"No"

"You are afraid of your beast, you know if he touched her you will lose the battle, you want her, need her, perhaps in love her"

He was growling again "I control my beast."

She smiled "Yes, yes you do" She began to walk away "That is how your seed came to be within her in the first place isn't it."

"It matter not" He stated as she walked away "My seed is long gone now."

"That is because you failed to protect what is rightfully yours" She stopped and looked back, but he was long gone.
