Everyone was glowing and cheerful. After walking around the mess tent and chatting with others, everyone made their way to a seat on the benches that had been arranged into one long table.

However, there was still a great deal of chatter amongst the personel, so Colonel Potter stood up and clinked his spoon against a glass cup.

"May I have your attention, everyone."

The tent went silent.

"Tomorrow, the tents of the 4077th will be coming down, and for good this time."

The Colonel looked down. "For a long time we've been living together, eating together, and-"

The Colonel was cut off by one of his men. "And sleeping together."

A few chuckles burst out amongst them, even Colonel Potter laughed.

"Well I wouldn't know, I have a horse."

Even more laughter erupted.

"Anyway, since this is our last evening together, I've been wondering what your lives will be like upon returning to the states. I thought it would be a good idea for each of us to get up and share."

Margret looked up at the Colonel. "That's a wonderful idea, sir. Why don't you go first?"

"Oh, alright." Potter stood up and looked around at the faces in the tent.

"Well, there's a woman back in Hannibal, Missouri, who learned to take care of herself in the absence of her husband. After all these wars, I'll be returning to her for good this time. I plan on becoming a part time doctor, and a full time Mr. Potter for the Mrs. Potter."

A roar of clapping erupted in the tent and the Colonel took his seat.

Nurse Kelly smiled and stood up. "Well I'm being assigned to an army hospital in Honolulu, now I'll be closer to my family and still doing the job I love," her eyes began to water up, "I just want to say, I love you all, and will miss you very much." She sat down and smiled to her friends next to her.

Rizzo stood up next.

"Well... uh, I don't love love y'all," Rizzo paused while some people laughed, "in fact, some of yee still owe me money, which I really need it. I plan to open up a business when I get back to Louisiana. There's big money in this... I'm gunna breed frogs for French reasturants."

All the people nearby nearly burst from laughing. Hawkeye stood up and crumpled up some money and threw it over to Rizzo. "Here! Go buy yourself a frog!"

The noise quieted down and Hawkeye smiled. "When I first graduated from medical school, I was excited for the action of the big city hospital. But now, I'm not so sure that action is all it's cracked up to be. In fact, neither is cracking up. So I think I'd like to take it easy for awhile. I don't want a bunch of anonymous patients parading through my office, I'd rather be able to start a conversation with them and ask how their day was. So for now, I think I'll be very happy just getting Crabapple Cove to say 'ah'." Hawkeye let a sheepish grin spread across his face. "And I can't say I've loved all of you... but I loved as many of you as I could!"

A few of the nurses burst out laughing and threw napkin wads at Hawkeye, who sat down.

One of the enlisted men chuckled and stood up. "I have no clue what I'm going to do!"

BJ followed. "Well, a lot of you know I was on my way back to Mill Valley, but while I was in Guam, I met this cookie of a woman who begged me to stay! And I thought, what the hell! You only live once!" A few people laughed and shook their heads. "Hey now! I'm just joking!"

BJ sat back down next to Hawkeye and shared a laugh. Hawkeye smiled and tried to speak while laughing his lungs out at the same time. "You heard the man, he's just joking! Don't worry!"

Nurse Bigelow rose from her seat. "I've been a nurse for a long time, and now this... I've had it..."

All previous laughter ceased at the sullen atmosphere.

Father Mulcahy stood next. "At first I was excited to get back to my parish, but after hearing as many confessions as I have, well, I thought it would be time to start anew. In fact," he glanced over to BJ, "I'm going to work with the deaf and hearing impaired."

"I'm going to stick with the army," shouted a nurse.

The Colonel looked across the table. "What about you, Winchester?"

Charles slowly stood up. "I'm going to be head of thoracic surgery at Boston General. My life will go on pretty much as expected," he paused and looked down at the table, "with one exception. For me, music was always a refuge in this miserable experience. And now... it will always be a reminder..." He quietly sat back down.

Margret stood up, excited it was finally her turn. "Well, I'll be heading out with the 8063rd, and then I'll be onto my next assignment... my father took the time to find me wonderful army positions around the world, but I think it's time for a break. I'll be returning to the states and find work as a nurse there." She smiled and looked around the room at her nurses. "I don't think I got to tell you this, so I'll say it now, you're the best bunch of nurses I have ever worked with... it's been an honor to know you all."

The nurses smiled back to Margret, some even cried.

She took her seat and Klinger stood up in place.

"Well I had something planned, but it kinda fell through... I see some of you have noticed that Soon Lee isn't here tonight, that's because she's got a lot of things to take care of..." His glum face quickly rose to a grin, "that's because we've decided to get married." Klinger stopped and looked at the others who smiled and gasped in surprise. Several hollers and cheers rang out before he continued. "The only problem is, she won't leave Korea 'till she finds her family. So..." He shook his head and sighed, "I can't believe I'm saying this but... I'm staying in Korea."

Everyone stared up at the Sergeant in shock and began laughing like hyenas.

Hawkeye spoke up. "You don't have to act crazy now! We're all getting out!"

Klinger smiled and looked ahead. "Boy, I'd give up anything to get back to Toledo, anything except Soon Lee. If nobody objects, I'd like to have our wedding here, with our M*A*SH family, before everyone leaves tomorrow."

"What a splendid idea!" The Colonel shouted.

Everyone clapped as Klinger sat down.

The Colonel stood up and rose his glass. "To the happy new couple! May they live in peace... and so may we all."
