Hey guys! Happy early Valentine's day! Sorry for the long waiting, but I'm quite busy with school. Senior year, most stressful time, some along those lines. :)
Anyway, here's Chapter 28. In this Chapter you'll see Delia's evidence, and who will have the nerves to sabotage it.
When Lindy found out that Logan really lost the wallet, the feud between the Watson Siblings had begun.
"Logan, why don't you be more careful? You know that all of our expenses are in there! Also, there are thieves everywhere, and you don't have any extra protection or something."
"Oh, yeah? Then if you know this will happen, why do you want me to keep the wallet?"
"I'm doing this for you! I want to take some responsibility around here, and now you have ruined your reputation, both outside and at home!"
"This is even worse than the battle between four kids." Jessie took a sip of cup of tea, exclaimed.
Finally, Lelle could not take it anymore. Seeing someone arguing was the least thing that he expected to happen. He brought out his orange whistle, and blew it harshly in Lindy and Logan's eardrums. The siblings were in peace, so did the whole restaurant.
"Uh, nothing to see here, guys. We're just having some family issues that need to be taken care of, everyone back to their usual business." Lelle realized the whistle had startled everyone in the hall, explained quickly, "You can argue through little things like this, I don't want to see what will you guys do if your friends are missing. Lindy, calm down, we can pay for this meal. And, you can stay with us in Guang Zhou while we're here if you want, we can open two more rooms." It only took Lelle thirty seconds to solve Watson's two minute word battle.
Lindy went on to give a hug with Lelle. "Oh, Lelle, thank you so much! How can we ever repay you?" She already knew the answer to this question, but she still asked it, just in case.
When everyone was back at the hotel, they surrounded the sofa in the lobby. Delia opened her phone after checking that there were not a lot of people in the lobby. "You see, we were at the bookstore yesterday to buy some books to read in our free time. But I think we should take a photo wherever we go to keep a memory book, so we accidentally captured this." Delia flipped through her photos while talking. In the photo, a guy's car was running the opposite way. And in the next one, the Rooney's car was right in front it. And when they got to the third, they saw the moment that guy's car collided into Rooney's car. Jessie and Lelle covered the kids' eyes when watching the fourth picture on aftermath, where Pete and Karen in the front got tossed out of the window, Liv and Maddie crashed into the glass, and the car flipped upside down due to the momentum.
"I will never get that image out of my head. Even though I could remember a lot of things from the beginning, but this will burn into my memory, like that time I got called up the first time during Math class in the morning on November 12, 2007…"
Zuri interrupted Lelle's pep talk, "Now it's not the time to tear off the scars. Let's think about what we can do next. Should we go for a visit?"
Jessie hugged Zuri, "Oh, Sweetie, we would love to. But now they're famous, and the hospital will be crowded with paparazzi for sure. Also, we need to give them some time to recover."
Tony caught Zuri's sad face, wanting to confront her, "Hey, Zuri, we can catch their latest status on news if you want. This is like the breaking news, paparazzi won't miss this chance." Zuri nodded, and everyone followed Tony upstairs.
When they were upstairs, everyone squeezed into one room and turned on the TV in a heartbeat to see the update on the Rooney family. Ravi was changing the channel. Lelle spotted the news about accident on CCTV and instructed Ravi to stop going through the channels.
The reporter was delivering the news in a low tone, Lelle translated it to others while listening. "They say that the Looney family is now passing the danger zone, but they're still unconscious, on their way back to Wisconsin. However, due to the harsh crash on their heads, they will most likely suffer a short-term amnesia."
"So that means, they won't remember us?" Tony asked on the side, Lelle nodded.
At this difficult time, Luke wanted to cheer everyone up, so he said, "Hey, you all needs to turn that frown upside down. Think about it, people only get one first impression. Now they don't remember us, so we can change their impressions of us, next time we'll treat them better, and isn't this a chance to start all over again?"
"Luke's got a point." Jessie confirmed Luke's comment for the first time in many years. "Now is when we should keep together and face the challenges before us. As long as we know they're okay, we can let it go."
The news was still going, Lelle heard a little of something unexpected, "Since no one could show enough proof about this car accident, the police has determined it as an unintentional, and not a human error."
Zuri was furious upon hearing this, "But this is not an accident. The photo clearly shows the opponent hit onto Rooney's car on purpose. We need to sue them on the court, and they're not getting away with this." Zuri always want everything to happen in her way, especially when she wanted Tony and Jessie to get back together.
"Wait, wait. You mean we're going to sue the others?" Bertram was really surprised, "But the court… it's so far away."
"Besides, don't we need a lawyer for this? There's nothing that could print photos on the phone around the hotel. We need to pay a proper lawyer if we can't submit the evidence to the court beforehand." Delia found a big loophole around this situation.
Tony stood up, "I'll be the lawyer. I got my licence, but the apartment needed me to be a doorman, so I gave up my dream of becoming a lawyer. Now, if you can only tell me who our opponent is, I can think of a decent argument right now."
Lelle brought out VACA, "This is not hard, we can find the identity of the opponent in thirty seconds." He told Delia to bring out the picture, activated VACA with order 1913, the result came in in less than fifteen seconds. It turned out that it was not a stranger who crushed onto Rooney's car, it was Seth Wall – the third frenemy that everyone was looking for.
"Seth Wall caused all these?" Lindy exclaimed on the side, "He used to be my love interest. But he thought hanging out with him is more important than my friends. Yeah, that's exactly what friends are there for."
Now everyone had agreed on bringing Seth down on the court. Perhaps Seth caused this on purpose for bringing the New York traveling group on the hook. In other words, Seth could use this opportunity to treat it as a challenge between two sides. If the New Yorkers win the case, he would be counted as defeated.
"Alright, I already booked with the court. The court will be order in two days at 10:15. And, Delia, you need to keep an eye on that phone, don't let anyone other than us to touch it. If the evidence got deleted, we could not win the case." Lelle instructed Delia.
Delia made a hand gesture, "Ay, ay, Captain! You have my word!"
Delia slept last at night, she placed her phone on the night table, and she went to sleep after ensuring all the doors and windows were closed. But, ten minutes after everyone was asleep, a guy with a black mask climbed through the window. He cut a piece of glass, quietly tiptoed into Delia's room. And then…
Delia woke up first the next morning, she put on her glasses and noticed that the phone on the table was a little bit to the right compared to yesterday. She quickly sensed some bad omens from her stomach. So she quickly fired up her phone to see if the evidence was still there. The result was what she had expected, the photos from the past few days, including those she took during the accident, were all deleted.
"Guys! Lindy, Jasmine, wake up!" Delia woke up Lindy and Jasmin after realizing something was wrong. Lindy woke up in a daze following Delia's scream and bumped on her head. Waking up Jasmine was a little bit heard, but Delia still managed to do it after telling her that a famous star was coming over.
Then, three of them knocked on the other rooms' doors. This was a huge deal, they had one day before going on the court, and the most important piece of evidence had just disappeared. When everyone gathered around the spacey hallway outside of the rooms, Delia explained everything.
"I was the last one to sleep last night. Then I woke up this morning with a strange feeling in my stomach, it's like my subconscious is trying to communicate with me that something's wrong. So I checked my phone and realized all the evidence got deleted."
"Or that strange feeling in your stomach was just trying to communicate with you that it's time to eat. You know, you didn't each much last night." Logan was explaining on the side, Lindy grabbed him by his ears.
"Okay, Delia, can I please borrow your phone for a second? It seems like the time to start up VACA, it contains a system to read the fingerprints on there. It can identify who touched Delia's phone last night and delete the evidence, that is, if you can just give it half an hour to do the job." Lelle always believe in the truth, he knew that the truth would have a way of coming out at the right time.
"Oh, I don't think that's necessary. Because I already guessed the person who infiltrated our plan." Lindy drew into conclusion before anyone else had a chance to speak, "You know what? You are so talented of being a goody two shoes, Emma. Or should I call you, Sherri?"
Lindy was staring at Emma, Emma was shivering at the same time, not knowing what to do.
Uh-Oh! Things are pretty heat up! Now with Emma being accused to be Lindy's enemy in school, how could she prove her innocence? And... who really deleted Delia's pictures? Chapter 29 is coming out in the first week of March, stay tuned...
