Author's note: Hey everyone. Halenriser here.
Okay, so I am trying to think up how the next arc will go down. I plan on using 5 OCs that you readers have asked me to add into the story for this arc, but I need help deciding which Cartoon Network/Fusion Fall characters to add into the arc.
I was hoping that maybe you could help me with this dilemma? Maybe?
AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH A WRITER ASKING FOR HELP FROM THE READERS! SOMEONE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT RIGHT, BUT I DON'T CARE! I GET WRITER'S BLOCK EASILY AND THAT LEADS TO STORIES BEING ABANDONED BY ME!
IT'S HAPPENED BEFORE WITH OTHER STORIES, AND I DON'T WANT IT TO HAPPEN TO THIS ONE!
So can you please help me if you can? It would mean a lot and it would me going with the story.
Well, with that out of the way, I now present to you Chapter 28
Chapter 28: A Forest March to Endsville
July 28, 20XX 12:01
"I told you we were going to crash."
"Drop it, Mark. What's done is done. We need to keep moving."
"Jason's right. Let's all just forget about that little accident and keep moving."
"I agree with Serah and Jason."
The four heroes were walking through the woods with their weapons drawn. Billy had crash the hovercar into a large rock two hours after they started to continue their journey to Endsville, resulting in a no longer usable hovercar and a lot of missing supplies they gathered as it had been destroyed when the hovercar crashed. Due to all of this, the four of them have spent hours wandering the woods with what little supplies they had left.
"This sucks." complained Mark.
"Mark, stop complaining. It's getting annoying." said Billy.
Serah groaned and held her gut. "Hey guys? Can we, uh, take a bathroom break or something? Please?" she asked.
Jason looked at Serah and rubbed the back of his neck. "Sure, I guess. We haven't really eaten anything yet so maybe a break is what we need." Jason set his backpack down and sat down on a tree stump.
"Alright but let's make this break quick. Who knows what could be lurking in these woods." said Billy as he opened his backpack for food.
Serah ran away from the group shouting "Do not follow me!"
Mark climbed as tree and sat on one of the branches near the top of the tree. He pulled out a bag of trail mix and began eating it as he observed the forest to see how far they were from Endsville. Sadly though, he could not see any sign of the little town near their location.
"Do you see anything, Mark?!" asked Jason. "Do you see Endsville or Genius Grove anywhere?!"
"All I'm seeing is trees of different sizes all around us!" yelled Mark.
"Damn. I wonder how far into this place we really are." said Billy.
Mark pressed a button on his watch and Nano Lazlo appeared beside Mark.
"Nano Lazlo reporting in." said Nano Lazlo with a smile on his face.
"It's been a while, Lazlo. Listen, I need you to scout around the area and try to find Endsville or Genius Grove. As soon as you find either of them, come back here and lead us to them. Okay?"
Nano Lazlo saluted Mark with the same smile on his face. "Yes sir." He said before dashing off into the woods.
Mark pulled out a pair of binoculars and looked around his to see if he could spot either location from long range. At first he saw nothing, but then something caught his eye. Mark turned his attention to where the thing was and saw what appeared to be a couple of figures standing on top of a nearby treetop. Though they were far away, Mark could clearly tell that the figures were indeed humanoid, but there was something about them didn't seem right.
"Who the hell are they?" Mark said quietly.
One of the figures turned to look in Mark's direction and he nearly dropped his binoculars. The figure had blood-red eyes, just like a Fusion Monster's eyes, and its skin was a sickening shade of green that matched the color of the sky. "What the hell are those? Are they Fusions?"
The figures jumped down into the forest and Mark began to get down from the tree. "We've got a problem. A BIG problem." he said as he descended from the tree.
Billy quickly picked up his rifle and loaded it. "What kind of trouble? Wild animals? Fusion Monsters?" he asked.
Mark grabbed his katanas and unsheathed them. "I don't know. The things I saw looked humanoid, but they had eyes just like those of a Fusion Monster. They're probably on their way here right now."
"Hey, didn't Layla say her group was attacked by some humanoid Fusions?" asked Jason, who was holding his wrench-sword.
Mark nodded his head and looked around. "Yeah. These may be the same kind of monsters that attacked her group, so everyone stay on guard."
Serah ran up to the group with her hammer at her side. "Alright. What's attacking us?"
"We think it's the same thing that attacked Layla's group near the Cul-De-Sac." said Jason. "Everyone back-to-back." The four of them stood close to each other with their backs turned towards each other so they could look at the area around them.
The forest was dead silent, as if someone had pressed a mute button that silenced the entire world.
"It's way too quiet. Something's wrong." said Serah.
Jason looked up just in time to see a figure leap off a tree branch and dove towards them. "Scatter!" he shouted.
Everyone moved away from each other and faced the spot where the figure had landed. The figure was the same height as Jason and seemed to be humanoid, just like Mark had said before. Its whole body appeared to be made of Fusion Matter. Its fingers were long and claw-like and its eyes were blood red, just like the eyes of other Fusion Monsters. Three more of these figures jumped down beside the first one and faced the four heroes.
"This isn't weird at all." said Mark with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "Let's call them Fusion Children."
"Fusion Children? Where'd you get that name?" asked Serah.
"Well it's obvious they are Fusions and since they look like kids that could be our ages (ages 15, 16, and 17). I thought it would be a fitting name." said Mark.
"I like it. It does fit them." said Billy.
One of the Fusion Children charged at Jason and got its claws ready to strike, but its attack was countered as Jason whacked it in the face. The Fusion stumbled backwards and a part of its face fell off and dissolved into Fusion Matter. It stood back and glared at the heroes.
"Looks like they're not stable. One hit and they start falling apart." said Jason.
Serah smirked. "Then this should be easy. We have the advantage of being able to take a hit and not falling apart."
Billy hit a button on his watch and Nano Jake appeared. "And we have Nanoes on our side too."
Nano Jake turned his hand into an axe and sliced the closest Fusion Child in half.
"It looks like they are slow to avoid attacks. They're probably not used to fighting." said Jason.
One of the Fusion Children charged at Serah with its claws held out in front of it so it could impale her. However Serah merely smiled and moved out of the way before using her large hammer to kill the monster. The final one began to back up as the four Subjects began to approach it. It eventually backed into a tree and began to panic a little. The expression of fear was noticed by Mark and he made a mental note of it.
Billy took one of Serah's pistols and pointed it directly at the Fusion Child's face. "It's going to take a lot more than four unstable monsters to kill us." He then shot the monster in the face and it quickly dissolved into Fusion Matter. The four of them then held out their watches and the Fusion Matter made from the monsters flew into them.
Jason looked at his watch and saw a bar in it rise a little. "I forget. Why do we have these things anyways? I mean, aside from calling for Nanoes anyways."
"The watches are designed to be used as devices to call forth Nanoes, and in order for us to make them stronger while we get stronger, we take any Fusion Matter left behind by a Fusion Monster and use it to power up the Nanoes." explained Mark.
"So in other words the Fusion Matter is exp. and the Nanoes are the ones the exp. works on. Like a videogame?"
Mark snapped his fingers and smirked. "Bingo. Just like a videogame. "
The four then grabbed their stuff and continued to walk through the forest.
1 Hour Later
The four heroes had stopped in a small clearing in the forest to catch their breaths. Mark had managed to lead them to an area that was more open and some-what safer than it was when Billy was leading them through the forest. After a few minutes of resting, Nano Lazlo appeared in front of Mark with a huge smile on his face.
"I found the way to Endsville!" the Nano monkey yelled.
Mark shushed him and looked around to see if anything was coming into the clearing. Nothing was coming in so Mark turned his attention back to his Nano. "That's great. Can you lead us to it?"
Nano Lazlo nodded. "Yup. Should we go now?" he asked.
"Let me discuss it with the others." Mark reached into his pack and pulled out a Nano Potion. "Here. You must be tired. Drink this for a refill on energy."
(Nano Potions were a legitimate thing in Fusion Fall when it was around. It basically was used to give your Nanoes more energy to stay around longer. You got them by doing missions, opening crates, and fighting monsters.)
The Nano monkey quickly took the potion and drank it all as Mark walked over to the others. "Okay, so I sent Nano Lazlo out earlier to find a way to Endsville or any other location and he just got back. He said he can lead us to Endsville but I want to know if you three want to rest more before we head out. What do you say?"
Jason took a sip of water from a bottle and looked at the Nano. "When did you send him out?"
"I sent him out before we were attacked by the Fusion Children. Seemed like a good idea at the time." said Mark. He heard Billy grumble something about a bad sense of direction and Mark held out his hand. "It's nothing personal, Billy. I just wanted to make sure we had a backup plan in case we got even more lost."
"Which we did." added Serah.
Billy hesitated for a minute before grabbing Mark's hand. He was pulled up right and grabbed his backpack. "Alright. I'm ready. What about you guys?"
"I've been ready for a while." said Jason.
"I'm ready too. Let's get going." said Serah.
"Then let's go." said Mark.
As it turned out, Billy was not that far off from where the exit of the forest was and had they continued to go in the direction they were originally going in, they would have made it out earlier. Serah ran ahead of the group to make sure it was safe and to see if they really were exiting by Endsville.
"I want to see how the town is doing. I've got a few friends staying in Endsville and I want to see if the town is still in good condition." she said.
Mark hit a button on his watch and Nano Lazlo disappeared. He then looked up at Planet Fusion and sighed. "Hey guys, how long do you think we have before that thing comes crashing down us?"
Jason and Billy looked up at Planet Fusion as well and a grim look crossed Jason's face. Over the past few weeks, the crevice on Planet Fusion had begun to get wider and wider, revealing odd sharp-looking things that looked like teeth. The thought of them being teeth made Jason shudder a little as he remembered the first dream he had where he met Ayu. The end of the dream had been a look at what the end of the world would (or will) be like if they fail to stop Fuse. It was a disturbing image that was forever trapped in his mind.
"I don't know." said Jason. "Hopefully another month or two."
Billy squinted his eyes and rubbed his chin. "You know, when I look at the planet closely, that crevice looks a little bit like a mouth opening up… That's a disturbing thought."
"What's more disturbing is the thought that a planet could devour another planet and fuse with it." said Mark.
Suddenly there was a loud scream coming from the forest's exit, catching the attention of the three boys.
"That's Serah! Come on!" yelled Jason.
When the three of them exited the forest, they found themselves on a cliff overlooking Endsville. Serah was on her knees with a horrified look on her face. "It can't be." She said quietly.
Billy ran over to Serah and shook her. "Serah? Serah what's wrong? Talk to me, Serah."
Mark walked over to the edge of the cliff and saw what was wrong. "Oh shit."
Below them was Endsville, or what used to be Endsville anyways. There were green tentacles coming out of the ground and large green veins were covering the streets. Some of the houses had been completely reduced to rubble, while others had holes in them that were made by what one would guess to be a large Fusion Monster. The entire town was in ruins.
"What the hell happened to Endsville?" said Jason.
"This has to be a dream. It's got to be." Serah pinched herself twice and began to panic a little as the cold fact that it was all real began to sink in. "How did this happen? I-I wasn't even gone for a full month. I was here just a few weeks ago. Who did this?! Why did they do this?!"
"Serah, calm down. You need to calm down." said Jason.
"Seriously, Serah. Calm down will you? Panicking won't do you any good." Someone said.
The four of them looked around to see who was talking. At first they thought they were alone as they saw no one that the voice belonged to, but then a few people walked out of the forest and Serah got a huge smile on her face. Standing before her was an old friend who was a member of Providence and was in charge of leading a small group of people for a squad.
"Bannon! A-A-And your squad too! You're all okay!" said Serah.
Agent Bannon Clawson smirked and gave a thumbs up. "Of course we are. It's gonna take a lot more than a minor invasion to take down my squad."
The four other agents with him all smirked and one of them looked at their commander. "Is this your girlfriend, Commander Clawson?" one of them wittily asked.
Bannon get a blush on his face and he looked at the agent. "Teddy, do not start this again."
Serah looked at the other four agents and smiled. "Teddy Anglebug, Conner Caster, Ace Shadowing, and Arthur T. King. I'm surprised you managed to stay alive this long."
"What happened here? What happened to Endsville?" asked Billy.
The agent named Ace Shadowing looked around with a mini-machinegun drawn. "We'll tell you later. Right now we need you to come with us." he said anxiously.
"Wait. Where are you leading us?" asked Mark
The four agents and their commander began to make their way towards the forest with their weapons still drawn in case there was an ambush. The agent named Arthur T. King gripped his sword tightly and looked over his shoulder to look at the group. "To our hideout. The place where all the survivors of the attack are."
"It's hard to find though, so try to keep up with us." said the agent named Conner.
The four heroes rushed over to the Providence squad so they weren't left behind and they followed the squad into the forest.
"And of course we have to go back into the forest. Whoop de fucking doo." complained Mark.
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT! CHAPTER 28!
So now that Midterms are over I can finally get back to work on this. Isn't that great? :D
Layla Dangersoul belongs to Commander Hammer.
Agent Bannon Clawson belongs to Man of Cartoons.
Ace Shadowing belongs to someone who was (or still is) a Guest on this site. The owner of this OC knows who he/she is even though I do not know.
Teddy Anglebug belongs to cmarston1.
Arthur T. King belongs to Novanto.
Conner Caster belongs to Kyle West.
Alright, I will admit I had trouble thinking of what this chapter should be about. I got headaches at times, writer's block for a little bit, and I nearly gave up on the chapter all together.
But then I came up with an idea: Write what you think. Don't completely plan it out, just type it up.
So that's what I did and this is the result. I don't know if it's a good result or a bad result.
Anyways, I actually wound up altering what my original plan for the third arc was. The destruction of Endsville wasn't part of the original plan, but with the situation I was in I had to think of something.
For those of you wondering when I will use your OCs in the story, please be patient. Their times shall come. I promise.
So, yeah… I guess I'll see you all later.
Don't forget to review!
Here's something for you readers. As of now, I am taking requests to put a character that you, the player/reader, has made and use/used in Fusionfall. Add the name of your character in the review and I will do my best to add them in. Whether they have big roles or not is up to me, but I will try to have them appear in the fanfic.
