Happily, Ever After
Chapter 29
It had been 24 hours since Jo had been admitted to hospital, it had been hard, but Jo had managed to talk her husband into going home so that she could get some rest. While she was there, she started thinking about names for this surprise baby. Jo wasn't sure what it was going to be but wanted to start thinking up names. Just as Jo was doing some thinking Lisa walked in to do her checks.
"You okay Jo? You look as if you are in your own world there. What's wrong?"
"I am fine Lisa, just doing a bit of thinking about names for this surprise baby, any idea what it is yet?"
"Would you like to know? I can tell you now if you want?"
"I would love to, but I really want Virgil here for that, he has been brilliant with everything lately. So, I sent him home to get a few hours sleep. He didn't want to leave me, but he seemed okay with it this time, unlike last time"
"Have you got names sorted for the first two?"
"Yep we have them sorted, we even agreed to them as well."
"So what names have you choosing for these little ones?"
"We were thinking of Rebecca Lucy Tracy for our little girl, Joshua Jeff Alan Tracy for our boy. If I am honest I am still in shock about having three babies instead of two. I will get there with it, though."
"These are lovely names Jo, like I said earlier we need you on bedrest from now until you come into have your C-section. I have managed to bring it forward a week. You need to take things nice and easy," said Lisa.
"Did you know that Penelope is my real Mum? I only found out a few weeks ago."
"How did you handle that? That couldn't have been easy for you"
"To be honest it was Virgil who kept me calm the whole time while all this was going on, that is how brilliant my man is," said Jo with a smile.
"Okay why don't you get some rest and I will call in on you later. You both will be fine so don't worry about anything," said Lisa as she left Jo to rest.
Back at the Tracy home, Lucy saw Virgil coming through the door. She noticed that her son was looking dead on his feet. Who could blame him? He had been at the hospital with Jo half the night.
"Is everything Okay with Jo?"
"They have been keeping Jo in for 24 hours, and we also got another lovely surprise, which I am trying to get my head round."
"What happened?"
"Oh, Jo wasn't in labour, when her midwife done a scan it turns out that Jo is having triplets instead of twins. When I found this out I fainted, when I came around Lisa her midwife told us that she had brought Jo's C-section forward to 35 weeks. So, Jo needs to be on bedrest the next three to four weeks. Apart from all this how has Robyn been?"
"She is still sleeping, so I am just letting her. I am telling you now Robyn is looking forward to becoming a big sister, it's all she talked about. Have you called the island yet to let them know what was happening?" asked Lucy.
"I had a quick chat with Scott not too long ago, he said that he would let everyone know if they asked. I did tell him to leave the news of the 3rd baby as a surprise. In a way I am so scared Mum, what if anything goes wrong? What if I can't handle this?" asked Virgil as he set down at the dinner table.
"Okay Virgil I want you to drink this coffee and calm down, these thoughts aren't going to get you anywhere. You are a great Dad and you know that you will be there for Jo when she goes to have these babies. You have nothing to worry about. Believe me you are calm now when in fact your Dad wasn't as calm as this when we were having Scott. He was there when Scott was born but only just made it."
"Mum there is something that I need to ask you, Jo and I have talked about this and there is no way we can cope without you. What I want to ask is would you move in with us? We know that its going to get busy around here."
"Are you sure about this?"
"Yes, Mum, I am sure, it took a while to talk Jo into it, but I think she has come around to the idea now. I have asked Dad if Gordon or John could fly over and keep an eye on Robyn for us. He said that he would try and send someone over to us."
"Why don't you take Robyn over to the island for a couple of weeks? I can always keep watch over Jo and make sure she stays on bedrest. It will do you some good maybe Jeff can spare one of your brothers to fly back with you. I know that you don't want to leave Jo just now but its up to you what you decide to do," said Lucy.
"I will think about it Mum, anyway I need to get ready to head back to the hospital."
"Okay Virgil, away you go and please check on Robyn while you are up there" said Lucy as Virgil made his way upstairs to get ready.
Back at the hospital Lisa was on her break and she decided to give Scott a quick phone call to see how he is, after all she hadn't seen Scott since his brother's wedding. She had a small crush on Scott. While she was making a cuppa, Scott decided to ring her at last.
"Hello Lisa, how are you doing? So sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. It's been a busy few days for us."
"Its okay, Scott. Virgil said that you would ring back at some point. Are you planning on coming over anytime soon? I think we need to meet up and show Virgil that we can get on what do you think?"
"I have no problem with that, but you are going to have to wait for me coming over I am afraid. With Virgil gone we are short-handed."
"What do you mean by short-handed? You live on an island, what do all of you do with yourself all day and night?"
"We just run a family business from here, its nothing big but we are doing the best we can. How is Jo doing by the way? I know that Virgil is worried about her."
"Oh, she is doing fine Scott, we managed to stop her labour but as of now, I have told Virgil that I want Jo on bedrest from now until she comes in to have these babies. I take it Virgil has told you what happened?"
"Yeah, he has, I still can't believe he is going to be a Dad to four instead of three. It's going to get busy for this wee family but I am so proud of my little brother."
