We'll Never be Royals

Sansa

The door was unlocked. From outside, Sansa could hear the sound of the radio announcing what sounded like a weather report.

Well, folks, due to what we've seen today, it looks like there's a pretty bad storm on it's way, could very well be the storm of the century! Yeah, we're talking rain, lightning, the whole nine yards.

Sansa sprinted upstairs, past her family gathered in the living room and into her room, she shoved some belongings into a backpack and ran back downstairs, Mom caught her by the arm.

"Sansa Sophie Stark, where the fuck do you think you're going?!"

"I need to get to the city!"

"You're not! I won't let you."

Sansa wrenched free. "Just let me go." She ran down the porch steps and unlocked her bike, It'll take a while but it's the only way. She started down the driveway, steeling herself to the noise of Mom screaming.

….

Newest in reports of the weather, it's definitely a big storm! Possible tornado warning, so please everyone stay indoors if possible! I'll say that again, inside if possible!

Sansa pedalled harder over the Burlington Skyway, her lungs burned and her thighs ached but she kept going, the sooner she got to the city the better. They wouldn't have the trial until tomorrow, that gave her time to get a hotel room probably.

Why in the hell would Joffrey and Cersei do something like this? Dad hadn't done anything wrong, he hadn't done anything but what was right, that was all he ever did.

Sansa just kept biking, it was all she could do.

Arya

"Arriving at Toronto's Union station. Union Station."

Arya ran out of the train and sprinted down the platform as fast as she could, her feet pounded violently against the cement. She ran and ran until she hit something, a person.

"Hello, young lady." Arya stepped back, wait, she knew this man. It was Yoren, he'd worked for Dad before. "Well, fancy seeing you here."

"We need to get to the jail, my Dad's there."

"Whoa, let's just take this one step at a time. In the meantime, come on back to my house, and try and explain all of this to me."

Sansa

The courthouse was packed, people filed in and sat in rows. She saw Asha down there, sitting between a man and woman who Sansa could only assume where her and Theon's parents. Her hair was a lot shorter and her nose looked different. But it was Asha. That made Sansa feel slightly better. She also saw Margaery's parents, Trystane's parents and a couple teachers from the school.

Then she saw Dad. He looked like shit, but then again people usually do when they've been in jail for a couple days.

She recognized the judge. Cersei's Dad, she'd caught a glimpse of him around town a couple times and in the study at Joffrey's house. Obviously he was biased, but he was a judge. If Cersei was wrong, he would let her know. Sansa was just happy she'd been able to sneak in.

"...For accusations of incest between Jaime and Cersei Lannister, forgery and conspiring against a dying man, Eddard Sean Stark is here in court today. Mr Stark will now stand for cross-examination by Joffrey Baratheon, Cersei's son and witness.

No, no no no no please...

"Ned, can I call you that?"

"No." said Dad.

"Is it true that you implied, in my father's will and to the entirety of the school board, that my siblings are the product of incest between my mother and my uncle?"

"Yes."

"And is it true that you conspired to secure control of the school board after my father was dead?"

"Absolutely not. I wanted what your father wanted, for the school board to stay in the control of the Baratheon family."

Asha stood up and started to applaud, the older woman yanked her down.

"I'm a Baratheon." said Joffrey,

"You're a Lannister. If you were anymore inbred, you'd be a head of lettuce!"

Cersei stepped forward angrily.

"Judge Tywin Lannister, your honor, sir, this man is clearly insane and a criminal."

Tywin paused, "Joffrey, it's not as horrible as you're making it out to be. Yes, it is a crime to accuse innocent people of incest, and Mr Stark will be punished for it, but his employment position did predispose him to become principal."

"I understand. My mother had the idea to give him ten years." Sansa found herself smiling, maybe Cersei did have a heart, "But, we all know politics is now place for women." Sansa saw some of the women in the audience start to get pissed, "And that's why, in the sight of Judge Tywin Lannister, ladies and gentlemen of the jury and all you spectators, justice will be served the way my father would have wanted."

Sansa saw Ilyn Payne place his gun against the back of Dad's head and nothing more.

Nothing more.
