Chapter Twenty-Nine: Brighter Than the Sun

I swear you hit me like a vision, I, I, I wasn't expecting

But who am I to tell fate where it's supposed to go

Oh this is how it starts, lightening strikes the heart

It goes off like a gun, brighter than the sun

Oh we could be the stars, falling from the sky

Shining how we want, brighter than the sun

- "Brighter Than the Sun" Colbie Caillat

Three Weeks Later

Huck leaned back, "Holy shit. I did it." He stood up and sprinted from the back of the warehouse to the front, where Fitz was on the phone with a congressman.

"You did it?" Olivia asked.

Huck nodded, "I have copies of all of their files." He paused, "Say the word and I can shut them down."

Fitz hung up the phone, "What's going on?"

"We can shut them down." Harrison whispered.

"Well, fuck." Fitz grinned. "Should we do it?"

Everyone looked around before all eyes landed on Olivia and Harrison. "Shut it down." They said together.

SCANDAL

"Sir," Jake entered Rowan's office and found Jonathan sitting across from him, "we've confirmed the break in at the warehouse."

"What was taken?" Rowan asked quickly.

"Four boxes were stolen. They appear to be random. There is nothing connecting them." Jake answered.

"And do we know who did it?" Jonathan snapped.

"Cameras were disabled, so far we have nothing. It was professional." Jake concluded. "Tom is looking into it."

"You don't think it could be" Jonathan stopped as everything in the building went dark, "what the hell?"

"What's going on?" Rowan stood and threw open the door, "Someone find out why the power is off and get it fixed now." He yelled.

A techie, darted up to him, "Sir, it appears our servers have been wiped."

"What?" Jonathan yelled from behind him. "How is that possible?"

"I'm not sure yet, sir." The man adjusted his glasses, "I'm just delving into the issue now."

"Well delve faster." Rowan snapped.

SCANDAL

Olivia, Quinn and Caroline let out simultaneous squeals as Fitz popped open the bottle of champagne. Grabbing glasses, he poured champagne for everyone before holding up his own, "A toast, to Liv and Harrison. Thank you for freeing us all from your fathers."

Olivia shook her head, "A toast to all of us. To the darkness fading away so we may all stand in the sun."

SCANDAL

Olivia and Fitz laughed as they stumbled into her apartment later that day, "I think it's time we properly celebrate." Fitz pulled her flush against him.

"I agree, Judge Grant." She giggled as he lifted her off the ground for a quick spin.

"Not quite yet." They both stopped at the voice in the dark living room. A light suddenly turned on, "I want to discuss what both of you did today."

Olivia dropped her arms from around Fitz's neck and turned to face him, "There's nothing to discuss."

"I think there is, you are toying with powers you can't even remotely begin to understand young lady."

Olivia straightened, "No, Dad, you're toying with powers you can't even understand. President Reston is fully prepared to go public with B-613. The entire Senate and House know what you do. The CIA, the FBI, Homeland Security, the Department of Agriculture, everyone is aware that you're syphoning money from them and no one is happy."

"Our job, Olivia," Rowan stood, "is not to make people feel happy. No, our job is to make people feel safe. We're here so everyone can sleep at night knowing the Republic is safe."

"But that's the thing," Olivia paused with a smile, "no one feels safe anymore. At least not when they know you and Jonathan are in charge. I'm not naive enough not to believe that the government won't slap a new name on the door and create a new agency, but I do know that I've guaranteed that you and Jonathan have been stripped of your positions. You have nothing now. You don't have me. You don't have your agents. You don't have your power. It's over, Dad. And as far as I'm concerned, an ocean between us wouldn't be enough space."

"And if you step out of bounds," Fitz spoke up, "I have the word of some very important people that you will be arrested. It may not stick, but I'm sure it can do enough."

"You, you poor little rich boy, look at what you have ruined." He motioned to Olivia, "Look at who you have ruined."

"Actually," Olivia smiled, "destroying you was my idea. Fitz just gave me the strength and resources to finally do it." She turned away from him, "You may exit the way you entered and you're no longer welcome back here."
