Chapter 28: Happy April's Fool's Day

The Burrow

Ginny lays a finger on her lips, giving her partners in crime a conspirative look. In hindsight, two almost 8 and 6 year-olds might not be the best choice in co- conspirators, but considering she belongs to such a large family the amount of better options is ridiculously small. Even though she wouldn't pick anyone else, really. Unfortunately she loved spending time with the two heathens too much. If they'd only understand the importance of silentness in a prank.

"Why does Teddy get to throw the bombs, and I only get the wand?" Victoire asks for the umpteenth time. "That's not fair, Ginny!"

"Because," Teddy drawls pertly, "I am the older one. And my aim is way better than yours. You wouldn't hit an elephant with a Quaffle if you tried."

The precociousness of Teddy's voice is met by an insulted gasp from Victoire. "That's not true! I would so! Ginny, tell him I would!"

"Well, you're decent enough with a Quaffle, Vicky." Ginny pats the little blonde head comfortingly. "You're a great Keeper, though!"

"See, even Ginny thinks you're a bad chaser."

"She did not say that, Teddy Lupin! You're so stupid!"

"Okay, that's enough you two." With a meaningful look at her godson, she ends the argument. Normally, Teddy would probably simply ignore her, but after he broke a neighbour's window with his football this week, he chooses to comply.

Like chickens on the roost, the three sit on the lowest roof of the Burrow, waiting patiently for Ginny to give the firing order. Only a moment of silence passes before she holds up her hand in anticipation. "Get ready. They're coming."

The second George steps out of the kitchen door, excited to start a quick game of Quidditch while the young kids are napping, Ginny grins. "Now!"

As Ginny and Teddy are rapidly throwing water balloons at her brothers and sisters in law, Victoire proofs her excellent aim with a water wand by absolutely soaking her grandfather. After the initial shock of finding themselves under fire – or, well, water – the adults of the Weasley family seem to enjoy the prank immensely. George is mirthfully pulling Angelina into the resulting mud puddle while Hermione is hiding behind Ron who is trying to catch the water balloons before they burst. Charlie and Bill have their wands out, spraying water at Audrey and Fleur who are laughing and twirling in the rain-like spray. Percy, happily standing by the side, finds himself pulled into the mudfight between George and Angelina due his four-year-old twin daughters who are trying to throw muddy water like snowballs.

As the water balloons come to an end and Victoire's water wand slowly runs dry, Ginny hugs her little co-prankers proudly. Victoire, hyped up by their successful prank, stands up beams down at her family. "Happy April's Fool's Day!"

"Yeah, Happy April's Fool's Day." Harry's voice startles all three of the master-prankers. Turning around, Ginny finds her husband standing in the window of her old bedroom, grinning at her. Naturally, Ginny immediately turns suspicious.

"What did you do?"

"Nothing." Harry smiles crookedly at her, twirling her wand in his hand. "Yet."

Before Ginny can react in any way, Harry has pointed his wand at the roof. Squealing, Ginny and her partners in crime slide off the roof on their bums and land softly on a cushioning charm. Within seconds they find themselves engaged in the water and mud war that only ends when Molly appears in the doorway a good 15 minutes later and ends the shenanigans.

Wooow, it's been a while. Sorry about that.

BUT the semester break ended yesterday which means: procrastinating by writing fics! YAY!

This isn't very Teddy-and-Ginny-mother-son-bonding-y but I thought some fluffy fun felt right for the spring-y weather outside ;)

As per usual: I do not own anything. But I do own about 5 backpacks for university.

How come my A/Ns are always so long? Hm, anyway. Leave comments, thoughts, prompts, anything.

Have I ever told you I love all the reviews? Because I honestly do.

Love,

catchingdragons
