"Emma, why can't you listen?" Owen scolded as he followed her towards the end he of a rectangular fountain that lined up with Main Street (Claire deemed it well decorative, he deemed it as a good hiding spot).

Emma was only doing as she was instructed by Colton which was to take cover and shoot from afar to see if the animal had any weak points. Owen had taken the liberty to escort her to her position, just in case the animals came too close for comfort. And to lecture her.

She rolled her eyes as she squatted down behind the fountain, loading her gun. "You know listening isn't my strong suit." She quipped, making him breathe out a disheveled sigh.

"Heads up!" Felix shouted as he approached them, squatting behind the fountain with his partner.

They watched as one of the raptors from Blue's pack came flying towards them. It skittered on the ground, falling short before the fountain. Emma gasped at how hard it had suffered from the fall but, was at a loss of words when she watched it stand back up on its two feet, swaying for a moment before charging at the Diablous again.

"Durable little things." Her partner noted, gaining a small smile from her. He quickly looked up at Owen who was glaring at Emma still for being out here. Felix cleared his throat, grabbing Owen's attention. He seemed lost at the gesture.

"Maybe you should leave the arguing for another time and get in your position?" Felix inquired to Owen, leaning his head in the direction in which they had come from.

He was supposed to be up there with Colton and Hunter, finding a more direct root to kill the creature. Felix had volunteered to stay a good distance away with Emma to make sure she didn't get into anymore trouble.

Owen pinched the bridge of his nose in an irritated fashion. Something told him his girlfriend wasn't exactly going to stay put. He crouched down next to her and grabbed her by the cheek, pushing his lips against the top of her head. It was short but, it was enough to grab her attention away from the battle.

Her eyes lingered up to his green, concerned eyes. "Stay put." Owen demanded, pointing to the ground with his finger. She sheepishly smiled up at him. "Sure thing." She agreed with a daze to her voice. If there was anything that he could hope for her to listen to it was when he was doing his boyish charm.

Owen returned the sheepish smile for a moment before returning to reality. He gave Felix a trusting nod before turning on his heel and heading towards Colton. His stomach was filled with anxiety the whole time.

He was trusting Felix with his girlfriend and his daughters life, granted he had trusted his life with him but, Owen considered himself not to be as fragile as Emma.

Emma on the other hand disagreed completely. She found herself more than capable of handling sticky situations in a calm fashion like the one at hand. She had not gotten hurt nor was confronted by an InGen operative this whole time. She considered that on luck and wit.

As she thought of it a bit more, she did get captured by InGen and that's why this whole mess is arising right now. A snarl from the Diablous brought her thoughts back to the mess at hand.

"You know we're going to have to put Rexie back in her pin after this, right?" She grimaced as she fiddled with loading her gun. Her partner coldly laughed as he began aiming towards the Diablous's thick scaly hide. "Just what I wanted to hear." He quipped. "More asinine ideas."

"There's always asinine things when I'm around." She smirked. Her partner rolled his eyes before taking a shot at the Diablous's leg. It bounced off its leg like a marble. "Dammit." He hissed under his breath.

"It's like it was rubber. It's hide is took thick, it's like armor." Emma noted.

"It's like they took whatever the formula they made to make the Indominous and multiplied it by five." Felix agreed.

"That was probably their plan. A more durable dinosaur for war."

Felix shook his head. "I still don't get why we needed a dinosaur war machine. Sounds a little-"

"Insane?" Emma finished as she scoped out the Diablous, watching it carefully for any injuries the raptors and Rexie were making. "I mean, dinosaurs are dangerous enough, why put them in an army?" Felix questioned.

They both winced as they watched a raptor get flung in their direction, forcing both of them to scale the fountain upwards to get away from the fight.

"That's a good question. If I had an actual explanation to why InGen wanted this thing as a war machine I'd give it to you but, the only explanation I got was last year during the Indominous incident. This guy, Hoskins, said they wanted to utilize them as an army to tone down the casualty rate for our troops. Thought that war shouldn't be fought by men and machines like drones but by forty foot hybrid killing machines like Indominous."

"Hoskins?" Felix questioned causing Emma to shake her head.

"He's no longer with us, thank God." She stayed as she aimed her rifle towards the Diablous. "So what? They just made this thing in hopes it'd be another Indominous?" Felix exasperated.

Emma's lips pursed as she shot at the Diablous's shoulder, right in a fresh wound Rexie had made. No damage. She sighed in frustration as she leaned away from the fountain wall that was protecting them.

"It's not exactly like Indominous. Indominous was bigger than Rexie, it was white, it could camouflage, lower its body heat. It was smart but, it could still take a hit. This thing is smaller and more durable." Emma's thoughts rolled off of her tongue like she couldn't control it.

She watched as Owen's group proceeded to shoot at the monster, not wounding it at all. Only making it more agitated.

She gasped as though she had been hit with a bullet, causing Felix to whip his head around to see what she was doing. She gripped on to his shoulder, shaking him back and forth. "Guns don't do damage to it, must have been a design perk from Wu, but when Rexie bites it or when the raptors claw at it, there's blood. It gets injured. We have to tell the others!" Emma hastily stood up, a smirk placed on her face, revealing where she and her partner lay hidden.

Felix jerked on her hand, pulling her down. "Are you nuts? Are you forgetting we have radios?" Felix scolded as he pulled out his radio from his vest.

It cracked as he turned it up all the way so that the both of them could hear what the others had to say. "Hunter? Hunter are you there?" Felix stayed into the handheld radio.

It took a moment for someone to respond. "Unfortunately." Hunter's voice seemed to be out of breath while speaking. Felix couldn't help but smirk. "Hunter, we've been analyzing the Diablous. We've come to the conclusion that bullets don't work on it. InGen must've put some code in it's DNA to give it almost like a Kevlar like armor for defense."

Colton came to Hunter's side, listening to Felix explain the situation. He rolled his eyes and the newfound information. "I'm glad this thing is more protected than us." He snarled, crossing his arms.

"I don't know anything about Kevlar. Is there a way to get around it from a safe distance?" Felix's voice crackled over the radio. Hunter's brows furrowed as he tried to think of anything to use against the Diablous. "Kevlar can't stand a certain heat. Is there anyway we could-"

"Blowtorch it away? I don't think that'll work." Owen chimed in as he came by Hunter's side. "Well do you have any ideas, Grady? Because I would love to hear them." Hunter snapped. "Well we're going to run out of ammunition soon so we should probably find a solution pretty fast-"

"Great. Genius. It's not like we literally just established that bullets don't work on this thing. Obviously you don't know what could go through a Kevlar vest and the only thing I know is heat."

Suddenly Colton stuck out his fist towards the two, leaving them confused until they saw what he was clasping on to.

A grenade.

It took a few moments for Hunter to speak up. "That might work." He praised, crossing his arms across his chest.

Owen shook his head in dismay. "I've seen a bazooka shot at the Indominous and it walked away just fine. Not a scratch on it. If it's more durable, why would a grenade work?" He countered. He was looking for something safe not something stupid. It felt like he was working with nothing but trigger happy teenagers.

"Well, do you have any other plans Commander Dipshit?" Hunter taunted with an annoyed look on his face. It took every nerve in Owen's body not to storm off right then.

He had Emma to protect, he could just make off with her but, something wouldn't sit right if he did so. Emma would probably hate him for it as well. Especially if something went wrong.

He knew she loved her partner Felix, and he's grown attached to him as well as Hunter. They'd become his friends. Even Colton was admirable to him since he threw away his career to help save Emma. He couldn't be more thankful and in debt to them.

"So what's the plan?" He mustered out. Colton shrugged with a coy smirk. "There isn't one." He flipped his blonde hair to get a good look at the battle in front of them.

More than half of the raptors they had were gone, their bodies strewn with the InGen raptors and operatives. He stumbled a bit backwards as Rexie slammed the Diablous's head into the side of a building as two raptors jumped on its back, gnawing at its skin, only to be brushed off by falling rubble.

If he threw it from a distance he wouldn't know how far it'd go and he may do some damage to their aid. "I'm gonna need to get close." He instructed the two who looked between themselves and then back to him, eyes full of concern.

"You need to distract it. I'm going to get a clear shot at it's feet. Once it goes down I'll set more off. I'll try my best to get out of there. No promises." Colton informed them, staring at the Diablous's threatening red eyes as it took a chomp at the Tyrannosaurs ribs.

If it couldn't be stopped this whole park was in danger. No one knew how to stop it. He felt a firm hand on his shoulder. He whipped around to see Owen with worry in his tired eyes. "Are you sure?" Colton's mouth was as dry as a dessert, he couldn't even find a way to swallow away the pain he felt searing up his throat. He nodded once, he knew he was sealing his fate. "Get miss Grant to safety." Colton requested as he stepped out into the middle of Main Street.

Owen didn't waste a minute, he took his gun and started shooting at the Diablous running towards the middle of Main Street. He could hear Hunter's voice in the radio telling Felix the plan, telling him to get Emma to safety.

He knew she would protest.

She was always looking for a way to be his savior but, he needed her to remain safe. He was few feet away from the Diablous now. He could see Rexie starting to tire after fighting off two powerful dinosaurs, she was starting to limp. That's when we saw Emma rush out with a gun, ready to shoot at the Diablous as well. Felix running after her.

Hunter brushing past his shoulder as if he was telling him to go after her as he sprung behind a piece of fallen debris to shoot the Diablous.

Owen rushed towards both of them, corralling Emma in his arms and pushing her off to the side of Main Street where she would be protected, Felix falling shortly behind.

He knew the route they were headed in, Felix was trying to take her up the steps of the Innovation Center but they had run out of cover on their side and they had needed to go across the way for more cover.

Owen watched Emma drop her gun for a quick moment as she cradled her head, the loud sounds of their guns leaving a ringing in both of her ears. It pounded at her head forcing her to cry. He was ready to give up on the whole plan again and just get Emma to safety, it nagged at the back of his mind. He knew she wasn't safe. He needed to be there for her. A swelling sensation arose in his stomach as he licked eye with her tear ridden blue eyes. It was almost as if he couldn't control what was going to happen next.

"If we get out of this alive!" Owen shouted at Emma from across the way. Tumbling towards her as he darted past the foot of the tyrannosaur as she held her own against the Diablous.

Emma wrapped her arms around Owen to protect him from the falling debris. "If we get out of this alive I want you to marry me!" Owen shouted again as Emma leaned her pounding head against the rock that protected them.

Even in the heat of the moment this was a shock for her yet, this annoyed her at the same time. "You're asking me to marry you now!" Emma screeched as she got up and ran towards the side of a gift shop hiding there for cover. "Yes!" Owen shouted back, trying to aim at the Diabolus who was still attacking the raptors.

Emma groaned at this half ass attempt to marry her. "If we make it out alive, and you actually do a better job of proposing to me, then yes, yes I will marry you!"

"Oh so you won't marry me now!" Owen shouted catching Felix's attention. "What!" Felix shouted. "You guys are getting married!"

"Focus Felix!" Emma snapped back at him. "Answer my question Em!" Owen barked out with a smirk. "Owen, get into position." He heard Hunter's drawl command him from the radio. His eyes dropped from the two larger dinosaurs to a small figure darting around Rexie's feet.

The Diablous kept moving around too much, causing Colton to swerve around like a maniac. Owen needed to stop this. He aimed for it's eye and too the shot, causing the hybrid to roar in irritation and swat at its own eye.

Rexie saw this opportunity and head butted it into a building where it laid down temporarily. He watched as Colton and Hunter dashed towards them, narrowly avoiding Rexie's feet.

Owen's eyes flickered back to Emma who sat there with a confused look on her face, he smirked knowing that Colton had hit the target head on. They ducked behind a large piece of fallen debris to take cover from the explosion. "So?" Owen asked hesitantly.

Emma smirked back at him, this was the way he was going to propose to her. They had their first kiss during a pteranodon panic and now he was asking to be with her for the rest of her life during a Diablous battle. She couldn't think of a better way he could propose.

Emma opened her mouth to answer but something stopped her. There was a loud explosion near Rexie's feet causing her ear drums to ache with pain even when she covered her ears. Owen peered out over the debris to see what remained of the Diablous.

Emma watched as she saw Owen's face drained of all color, as if he was witnessing a nightmare come true. She quickly perked up over the side of the debris along with Colton, Hunter, and Felix. She gasped as the slow fog of debris faded away to show the Diablous still alive. "Son of a bitch." Owen whispered out.

Colton had completely missed the Diablous and had ended up hitting Rexie. The Diablous was now on its two feet, recovering from Rexie's blow.

Unable to withstand the force of the explosion the grenade exerted the tyrannosaur gave one last tiring roar before tumbling towards the ground with an earth shaking thump. "Rexie down! Rexie down!" Felix yipped out before scurrying towards cover as the Diablous stood on top of the tyrannosaurs body, roaring. Emma's eyes widened with terror as she grasped Owen's hand. "What do we do now?"

Owen's mouth was dry, his mind blank as he watched the Diablous tower over the tyrannous. "I don't know." His gaze landed on Hunter who was still focused on the Diablous in shock. It was now taking heaving deep breaths as it continued to be berated by a few raptors, one being Blue, who was limping but still managing to hold on. Barely. With Rexie down for the count there was no way the Diablous wouldn't get one of them when they threw grenades. "I don't know." Owen whispered out again, clutching tightly on to Emma's waist.

"But I do." Colton's southern drawl answered from behind them. Emma looked towards Colton confused as he grabbed her free hand. His thumb numbly rubbed over the top of her hand as he smiled at her admiringly. He kissed the back of her hand before slipping out of her grasp.

"Take care fertile Myrtle." He sang, stepping towards the middle of Main Street where the Diablous was clamping its jaws down on a raptor throwing it aside carelessly.

Colton limped over to the Diablous, he had been in the company of death for the past seven years with InGen and he was tired of it. Tired of always being the bad guy. It never got him anywhere.

So while he was alive, he was going to do something good. Something he figured was brave.

"Colton?" Emma questioned as she peered over her barrier. He ignored her whimpers as she watched him go out and face the Diablous. "Colton!" She screamed, standing up with a gun in her hand.

Owen quickly latched on to her side, trying to protect her. If she was going out towards the Diablous she was a goner. But, if she didn't Colton was.

Colton looked back towards the couple one last time. Emma's face was red and strained from fighting against Owen, her frustrated cries hit a spot in his heart that could never be healed unless he did what he was about to do.

Owen pursed his lips as he looked onwards towards Emma's ally, he made split eye contact with him for a moment before he nodded his head once in respect.

That was all he needed from Owen.

Colton turned back to see the Diablous wiping its snout from the blood of a raptor, that had the life crushed out of it by the Diablous's jaws. "Hey!" He screamed over towards the dinosaur. "Hey look at me you overgrown alligator!"

The Diablous looked at him with one red eye curiously. He gulped as the dinosaur sized him up, he had never been more petrified in his life. But he had to do it. It was the only way.

"I'm sick of your shit!" He jabbed a finger towards the dinosaur. "You know Wu may have created you in that pretty little test tube but, who watched over you? Me! Who got shit because of you? Me! So Wu can make you but, only I can take you out, you fuckin' monster!"

The Diablous stomped it foot down and roared in Colton's face in annoyance. Spittle flying all over his face. "Come on then!" He challenged, beating his fist on his chest.

The Diablous's neck craned back in a striking position. What it didn't know is that it's next meal had a bite. Colton pulled a pin out of a grenade from his belt. He smirked as he watched the Diablous start to growl at him. "Smile you toothy son of a bitch!"

It didn't take but a millisecond for the Diablous to clamp its jaws around him. It tossed his body into the air before gulping him down whole. Emma screamed bloody murder as she watched in horror. The Diablous looked over at Emma and Owen who were clearly visible.

It growled, starting to roar before it choked. Owen questioned this for a second before grabbing Emma and pulling her down behind the barrier, shielding her with his arms.

BOOM.

The explosion was loud but short lived. The sound of wetness hitting the pavement was like music to Owen's ears. He cautiously peered over the rubble to see where the Diablous had stood. Nothing but, a bloody puddle remained.

Emma sobbed as she looked over the barrier to see nothing left of Colton. Granted he had been her captor he had also been their savior. She felt a burning pit in her stomach that was filled with nothing but, grief.

She knelt down on the ground, clutching on to her stomach where her daughter lay and her head to try to process everything that had just happened. Owen was by her side in an instant, eyes filled with concern but relief. He began to rub her back as she sobbed.

"He won't go out unknown. He was a hero." Hunter spoke up, even his voice was raspy, given the account that he knew Colton personally. He also couldn't suppress the image of his own brother being crushed beneath the tyrannosaurs foot. He stumbled backwards, tripping over a piece of debris and landing on his bottom. Tears started to sting his eyes as he thought of Miles.

A screech from overhead brought Owen's attention towards Main Street at the few raptors remaining. Only four. Blue, Chrome, Blaze, and the young juvenile from before.

Owen left Emma to stagger out towards the once beta of his pack. "You've lost two packs because of me. I'm sorry." Owen whispered out as Blue limped up to him.

He placed his hand on her snout, he felt her labored breaths that made his heart clench. Perhaps Blue and the juvenile would stay since they are without a pack. It's a risky choice to bring up to Claire after this situation.

Blue sighed before looking over to the juvenile and chirping at it. It responded by chirping back and nuzzling up against her. It was clear that Blue now had to mother it.

What about Blaze and Chrome?

They lost their siblings and it did not go unnoticed that they were mourning by Owen. Chrome laid down in the middle of Main Street, Blaze standing over top of her before laying down next to her and placing her head on top of her sisters.

Owen's heart ached more knowing he had lost so many of his raptors.

He jumped as he felt Emma's small hand latch onto his. Her face stained with tears, her breathing was labored as she sniffed. She looked over at Rexie, watching the tyrannosaur breathe heavily.

She was glad that she wouldn't have to gain access to the nursery to bring up a new tyrannosaur. She didn't want another one.

Unthinkably Emma let out a small giggle catching the attention of her boyfriend. "I can't believe it." She whispered out, touching Owen's scruffy cheek with her hand as he wrapped his arms around her waist. "We did it."

He smiled down at her. He swooped down to give her a kiss. This one was uninterrupted by dinosaurs or explosions. It was filled with passion and desire. As if they did not want to let go fearing that the other would somehow vanish.

Someone cleared their throat gaining the attention of the couple. Emma smiled over to Felix, who had a few scratches but wasn't too badly injured. He peered sheepishly around Owen towards Blue who was cleaning her sickle claw free of blood and flesh. "Can I ride-"

"No. Absolutely not. Are you nuts?"

"Am I nuts? I'm not the one bleeding out right now."
