Chapter 29: Everything Has Changed

Kyle sighed as he followed Miles into the school building. He was sad vacation was over and they were starting school again. He had gotten to used to not going to school it was a drag to be back.

"Come on, it's not that bad," Miles said nudging his friend.

"I don't want to be here, school sucks," Kyle whined.

"Yeah, well we won't be here much longer," Miles said.

"We will have another year," Kyle whined.

"Get over it," Miles laughed.

"Never," Kyle replied.

"What are you two losers going on about now?"

The pair turned to see Jayda standing behind them with a smile. They both grinned and gave the tall girl a hug.

"Hey Jay, how was your vacation?" Lyle asked.

"Nothing special, you two have fun at your ski resort?" Jayda asked.

"Oh tons of fun," Miles said placing an arm around Jayda and leading her down the hallway.

Kyle followed the pair as they told Jayda all about their vacation. She in turn told them all about her boring vacation and how her parents were still nagging her about college.

"Just apply local and decide not to go when you get your contract," Miles said.

"I know, but college isn't for me," Jayda said.

"So you've got nothing to lose," Kyle said stepping up to her. "Besides you've got a for sure job after your graduate," he said.

"See, this is why I keep you two around, once in awhile you say something smart," Jayda teased.

"Hey, we can't always have bad ideas, a few good ones squeak through," Kyle joked.

-We Are-

Leora smiled once she spotted Caleb. He was at his locker getting his things ready for the day. Leora walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. Caleb turned to her and smiled. Any doubts Leora had, just faded away.

"Hey you, how was your vacation?" Caleb asked.

"It was great, I missed you," Leora said as she leaned against the locker next to his.

"I missed you too," Caleb replied. "Christmas was ok, New Years sucked. I got stuck babysitting," he said.

"Aw, I had to put up with my entire family and the Mitchells," Leora said, "to top of off Jared and the guys showed up around eight-ish," she said shrugging.

"Must've been fun," Caleb said as he closed his locker. He held his arm out to Leora. She linked her arm with his and they started walking.

"It was alright,"

"You sound so enthused," Caleb chuckled.

"It was fun, but Lilly's been having some trouble and it got me thinking about things," Leora shrugged.

"What kind of things?" Caleb asked confused. "Is she still hung up-"

"Yeah, but it's only because she won't let herself be happy with anyone. She had this really cool guy, and the second she started to fall for him she called it off," Leora said shaking her head.

"I have a few friends, maybe we could double date or something," Caleb said.

"Maybe, I'll have to talk to her first. I can't promise anything," Leora said. Caleb nodded his head. The two said their good byes and headed towards their homerooms.

-We Are-

Jake smiled as he walked into the kitchen of his and Damien's apartment. It felt nice being home. Rome had been fun, but it was time to get back to real life. They had been home for a few days now and things were great. Jake had even been to the doctor already and confirmed his pregnancy. Jake was scared, but with Damien by his side he could do anything. They just had to tell their parents.

A pair of arms wrapped around Jake from behind. He smiled as he glanced over his shoulder at Damien.

"Morning Day," Jake said.

"Morning Jake," Damien said pressing a kiss to his cheek. Jake smiled at that.

"So who do we talk to first?" Damien asked letting go of Jake. He walked into the kitchen searching for food. "We need to do some shopping," he said.

"It's up to you if you wanna tell your parents first," Jake said.

"We could tell them together, we could invite them over for dinner," Damien said.

"Then I have to clean," Jake whined. Damien chuckled and shook his head.

"Come on we can go shopping and have them over for dinner and tell them together," Damien said moving over to Jake. He took his hands in his. "It'll be fine," he said.

"Fine, fine," Jake said.

Jake pulled his cellphone from his pocket. Damien did the same. They called their parents and got them all to agree to dinner tonight. Jake felt a knot of nerves bundle up in his stomach.

"Hey, it'll be ok Jake," Damien said.

"I hope so," Jake said.

-We Are-

Jared yawned as he slowly trudged into the Palm Woods. They had arrived home yesterday and today had been their first day back to work. Kendall had put them through the grinder working on new dance routines for a music video. Then they had run through a song Kendall had written for them for consideration for their second album.

"You look beat."

Jared looked up and saw Kyle leaning against the wall before him. He had a small wrapped box in his hands. He smiled as Jared walked over to him.

"Your dad is a dictator," Jared replied.

"If you're tired I can leave. I just wanted to give you this. I forgot all about until I unpacked. You never made it up for Christmas," Kyle said his cheeks tinting pink.

"You're adorable, come on," Jared said taking the gift and pulling Kyle along. Matt, Noah, and Roldy all headed out to the pool.

Jared led Kyle up to his apartment. Once they were inside and seated on the couch. He looked at the present with a smile.

"You didn't have to get me anything," Jared said.

"I wanted to," Kyle said.

Jared unwrapped the box and opened it. His jaw dropped when he saw the figurine Kyle had gotten him.

"Kane and Zora," Jared said in awe. He looked up to the younger blonde before him. "Thank you," he said. He set the figurine down and hugged Kyle. He smiled as he sat back to look at Kyle.

"There's one more thing," Kyle replied with a sly smile. He reached over to his backpack which he had set down on the floor. He pulled out his laptop.

"What's this?" Jared asked as Kyle opened his laptop.

"Just a little something I threw together, just remember this is my first time doing something like this," Kyle said his cheeks heating up.

"What?" Jared asked confused.

Kyle just played a video he had made. Miles had helped him. It was a recording of his song that he had been working on for awhile now. It was now or never. This song was for Jared and it was only fitting that he be he first one to see it.

"Everything has changed since I met you. My heart was broken, hope was overdue, running empty running out of time thought I lost my mind."

Jared sat there listening to the song and watching the video. It was Kyle putting his heart and soul into the song and Jared could see that. He could see that this was something Kyle was passionate about.

"Everything has changed since I kissed you. I never thought that love could be this true. When I thought that feeling couldn't last, you went and kissed me back, cause everything has changed since I kissed you."

"Wow," Jared said once the video ended.

"I mean it Jer, everything has changed and with you things just feel right," Kyle said sincerely.

"That's actually a really good song Kyle," Jared said, "and so sweet," he added.

"You're the first person to hear it," Kyle said, "well hear it completed," he added quickly.

"It's great Kyle," Jared said with a smile. "And you have change my world," he added. Kyle grinned as he leaned in and kissed him.

"I'm glad you liked it, I've been so freaked about sharing that," Kyle said.

"I love it," Jared said. "I kind of feel bad that I didn't get you anything," he said slowly.

"It's ok Jer, I saw it and thought of you. I don't need anything other than you being here with me," Kyle said smiling at the bleached blonde.

"What did I do to deserve someone like you?" Jared asked. Kyle was great and he didn't deserve the blonde love.

"Oh stop it, you're pretty great too," Kyle said his cheeks dusting pink once more.

-We Are-

Kendall walked into the house. He found James taking to Marcie. James spotted Kendall and let her go. She was done for the day. Marcie left and Kendall walked over to James.

"Jake called me today," Kendall said

"Me too, he invited us over to dinner tonight," James said nodding his head.

"What do you think he wants?" Kendall asked walking over to Jenny. She looked up at him and smiled. Her held her hands out to him.

"I don't know, I told him we'd be there," James said.

"Who's gonna watch Jenny?" Kendall asked.

"Logan," James replied.

"He isn't working?" Kendall asked confused.

"No, he works days," James said shrugging. He walked over to the couch and sat down. Kendall set Jenny back down and joined his husband.

"So seriously, what do you think Jake wants," Kendall asked.

"It's not money, if he wanted that he would have gone to you alone," James said logically.

"Well last time they wanted to talk to us they were engaged," Kendall said slowly.

"You don't think..." James started.

"Hard to tell," Kendall said slowly.

"I guess we will have to wait and see," James said shrugging.

"Would it be a bad thing?" Kendall asked.

"No, I like having little ones around again," James replied with a smile.

"Yeah, but being called grandpa makes me feel old," Kendall said making a face.

"We are old," James replied laughing.

"Not that old," Kendall said pouting.

-We Are-

Lilly walked inside with her phone and car keys in one hand and the mail in the other. She called out to whoever was home. She got no answer so she tossed the mail on the shelf by the door. She made her way up to her bedroom.

Lilly walked over to her mirror and looked at her reflection. She wasn't entirely happy with what she saw. She saw a sad girl afraid of getting out there. Afraid of getting hurt again.

Her phone started ringing. She jumped and looked down at her phone. She picked it up once she saw Leora's name.

"Hey Le, come over I'm home alone and bored already," Lilly said

"Good I was gonna tell you I was coming over," Leora laughed.

"Great, see you on a few the door is unlocked," Lilly replied.

"Be over in a few," Leora said.

"Ok, I'm in my room," Lilly replied and hung up. She set her phone back on her vanity.

She looked to her reflection once more. Lily sighed and really looked herself over. So much had changed for her in the last year. Most of it was good, but there was bad too.

She couldn't help but think about that moment she had shared with Kyle at the cabin. He had almost kissed her. She wasn't imagining it. It had really happened. Did he still care about her? Lilly shook her head. She was just being ridiculous. Kyle obviously didn't care about her. He was head of heels for Jared. She was just imagining things, but he was the one who had started it. He had almost leaned in and kissed her. That had to count for something.

Lilly turned as Leora walked into her room. She smiled at her friend.

"So, I was thinking, you, me and the mall," Leora said. Lilly laughed and shook her head. Leora had a serious shopping addiction. "Come on, we can get some cute new clothes," she said.

"Might as well, I have nothing better to do," Lilly said grabbing his phone and her car keys. She grabbed her purse and tossed her phone in there. She followed Leora from the room.

They reached the bottom of the stairs when Logan entered the house. He looked at the two.

"Where are you two off to?" Logan asked.

"The mall," Leora replied.

"Don't stay out too late," Logan replied.

The girls nodded their heads and left the house. Lilly was thankful for the distraction. She needed to get out of he head and just have fun.

-We Are-

Kendall parked in front of Jake's apartment building and he and James got out of the car. He spotted Camille and Steve talking to one another. They didn't seem to notice the pair. Kendall nudged James and pointed before walking up to the pair.

"Camille, Steve," He said getting their attention. The pair turned and smiled at him.

"I was wondering if you guys were gonna show up," Camille said greeting the pair with a smile.

"I think we're about to get some big news," Steve said.

"It'll be ok, if this is what I think it is," James said.

"Says you, this'll be our first and your what, third already?" Camille asked.

"Yeah, it is kind of routine at this point," James replied. Kendall nudged James lightly.

"Well, let's not keep them waiting," Kendall said.

The four adults entered the apartment building together. They all had a vague idea of what was to come, but none of them knew for sure. They all walked up to the second floor apartment. Camille knocked on the door and it opened to reveal Damien.

"Hey mom," Damien said giving Camille a hug. He greeted the other three as well and let them into the apartment.

"That better be Adam," Jake called as he walked into the room with Miri. He spotted their parents. "Oh hi dad, pops," he said.

"I did realize Miri would be here," James said moving over to his grand daughter. Jake let him take her. "Adam asked us to babysit and he promised he'd be here an hour ago," he said.

"He's probably stuck at the diner. You know how awful those girls are," Damien said. He turned to their parents and told them that he wasn't done cooking and offered them something to drink.

Jake sat down in the living room with them. He didn't have a drink. The questions about Italy started to pour in. Jake told them all about their trip and how much fun it had been. Damien would add his two cents here and there while he cooked.

Soon Adam came rushing in. "Jake I am so sorry I know I said I'd be here an about ago but Maggie got sick and-oh hello," he trailed off as he spotted the four guests.

"You're late," James replied looking down at the little girl in his arms. He set her on the floor and she happily toddled over to Adam. Adam picked her up with a smile.

"I know, some things came up," Adam said. He looked to Jake.

"It's ok Adam, you're lucky your daughter is cute," Jake teased.

"Where's her diaper bag?" Adam asked. Jake stood and retrieved it from the guest room. "Thanks Jake, and sorry for being late," he said.

"It's ok Adam, things happen," Jake said walking him to the door. He took Miri back for a kiss goodbye and a hug. Miri giggled and kissed him.

"You gonna tell them?" Adam asked lowly as he stepped out of the apartment.

"Yeah, eventually," Jake replied. He shut the door and turned back to his parents. Damien was now talking with them. He had finished cooking and they were now waiting for Jake.

-We Are-

Logan sighed as he watched Jenny play with her toys, oblivious to the world around her. She was at that age where she had no idea what was going on around. All that mattered to her was her family and the small group of people she interacted with. She wasn't yet worried about what anyone thought of her.

To be young and innocent. Logan missed having the girls like this. He missed them needing him and not caring what anyone thought. Now neither Lilly or Layla liked being seen in public with him.

"Jenny, you're so innocent," Logan sighed.

Why couldn't everybody just be like kids. Not have a care in the world. If Logan was being honest, he really missed being young himself. He missed not having a care, or having to worry about bills.

Logan sighed and shook his head. There was not turning back time. It's not like he wasn't happy with the way things had turned out. He loved his family and wouldn't trade them for the world. If there was one thing he had wanted, is was to have been able to raise the boys. That was his only regret.

"Cherish the time you've got Jenny, before you know it, it will be all over," Logan warned the one and half year old.

-We Are-

Kyle nudged Jared as he tried to beat him. They were playing a racing game and Jared was in the lead, but not by much. Kyle leaned over and nudged him again.

"Stop it," Jared said laughing as he nudged Kyle back. Kyle just scooted closer to the bleached blonde.

"Come on Jer, I'm just trying to win here," Kyle said.

"Not on my watch Knight," Jared said.

"Please," Kyle asked. Jared laughed and shook his head.

Kyle turned his attention back to the screen for a second. He then looked at Jared. Without warning he dropped his controller and jumped on Jared. Jared helped in surprise and dropped his controller as well. The two fell onto the couch. Kyle smiled as he looked down at Jared.

"What? If you couldn't win then neither could I?" Jared asked playfully.

"Exactly," Kyle said leaning down and capturing Jared's lips in a kiss. Jared's arms came up to rest on Kyle's shoulders. Kyle sat back and looked down at Jared. He smile spread across his lips.

"What?" Jared asked.

"Your amazing and I love you is all," Kyle said. Jared blushed and looked away from Kyle.

"Love you too," Jared said.

The door opened and Lyle quickly moved away from Jared. They looked over as Noah and Roldy entered the apartment. The pair looked to Jared and Kyle.

"Don't mind us, we're just gonna go lay down," Roldy said quickly as he led Noah toward the hallway.

"Have fun you two, be safe," Noah called back.

Kyle sat back on the couch his cheeks red. He looked down at his hand embarrassed at being caught like that. He tended to forget about others when Jared was around.

"Mood killer," Jared said. Kyle lifted his head and looked at Jared. They both started laughing and Kyle scooted closer to Jared once more.

"As fun as this is, I should get going. I've got homework and stuff," Kyle said making a face. Jared chuckled and nodded his head.

Kyle stood and grabbed his backpack. Jared walked him to the door and gave him one last kiss. Kyle left and headed down to the lobby. He stopped when he remember his laptop. It was will sitting on the coffee table in 2J. Kyle sighed and turned around he headed back up to the apartment.

He stopped outside the door and lifted his hand to knock. He heard voices from within and he froze.

"Jared, are you ever gonna tell him what happened between you and-"

"No way Ro, it was before we got together and that has nothing to do with us," Jared said quickly.

"Yeah it does, it's his dad," Roldy replied.

"I was drunk and it meant nothing. It was...nothing," Jared said.

"Nothing? Really you spent months-"

"Stop it Roldy. I made a mistake and besides it was before Kyle and I even met. It meant nothing I was just..."

Kyle stood there confused. What were they talking about? What happened with his dad? So many questions ran through Kyle's mind.

"Kyle left his laptop," Jared's voice cut through his thoughts. Kyle turned to leave. He wasn't sure what to think. Kyle took off running and didn't look back. He reached his car when his cell phone started ringing.

"Hello?"

"Hey you left your laptop here," Jared said.

"Oh, I left already, I'll come get it tomorrow," Kyle said quickly.

"Ok then, I'll keep it safe from accident prone Noah," Jared chuckled.

"Great I'll see you tomorrow then, bye," Kyle said quickly. He hung up barely giving Jared and chance to say good bye.

Kyle's mind was reeling. He wasn't sure what to think about what he had just heard. Had something happened between Jared and his dad? Did that me a that Jared was just using him to get back at Kendall? Kyle needed to figure this out. There was only one person to talk to. He needed to talk to Kendall and straighten things out. He'd know what to say.

-We Are-

Jake sat back in his chair. Damien was talking with Steve while Camille talked to Kendall and James. They were almost done with dinner and Jake had yet to share his news. He was worried again. What if Camille and Steve weren't happy about this? What if his dad's weren't happy? Would they be mad?

"Are you ok Jake, you've been awfully quiet," James said getting his attention.

"Huh, oh yeah I'm fine," Jake said quickly nodding his head.

"Is there something you want to tell us Jake?" Kendall asked his son.

Everyone was looking at Jake now. Jake looked around at them before taking a deep breath.

"Actually yes there is," Jake said slowly. Everyone waited for him to continue. Damien grabbed his hand under the table and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "I'm pregnant," he said simply.

"I knew it," Camille said placing a hand over her mouth. "Oh sweetie congratulations," she said jumping up and giving Damien a hug and then Jake.

The other three men congratulated the couple as well. They were all happy and Jake's nerves just slipped away. He wasn't sure why he was so nervous. Once everything settled down a bit, Camille started asking all kinds of questions.

"Well, the doctor says I'm about two months along and my due date is September 6th," Jake said answering her questions.

-We Are-

Miles scratched his neck nervously as he followed Rion through the park. They had just gone to dinner and we're taking a walk before they headed home.

Miles was still thinking about what he had told Kyle over winter break. He was still scared to death over trusting Rion. It was a big step, and he wasn't sure he was ready for it. He was worried Rion was getting impatient with him.

"Are you ok, you've been awfully quiet and it's not like you," Rion said.

"I'm fine, just thinking," Miles said slowly.

"About what?" Rion asked leading them over to a bench. They sat down and Miles sighed.

"Are you happy with our relationship?" Miles asked.

"Yes, I'm very happy Miles," Rion replied.

"Even if we haven't..." Miles trailed off looking down at his feet. This wasn't how he planned this conversation being.

"Yes, I don't care about sex Miles, I care about you," Rion said.

"Are you sure you're not getting bored of me?" Miles asked.

"I'm sure Miles, it's ok you're not ready. I get that, if I had been through what you've been through I'd be hesitant too," Rion said. "I've been selfish trying to hint at what I want, I will wait for you to be ready. I don't wanna push you to do something you'll regret later," she said grabbing Miles hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"I'm sorry," Miles said hanging his head.

"You have nothing to be sorry about," Rion said smiling at him. Miles nodded his head.

Soft jazz music filled the air. Miles looked over and saw a small jazz group playing music. People were sitting around and dancing. He jumped up and held a hand out to Rion. She smiled and took his hand.

Miles led her over to the grass and pulled her close. They started dancing slowly to the music.

"I love you," Miles said softly.

"Love you too," Rion replied.

Miles trusted Rion, more than he should. He was just scared that if he gave too much something would go wrong. His past had taught him as much. He needed to swallow that fear and know that not everyone wanted to hurt him.

-We Are-

Jake was sitting at his laptop at the kitchen table. He looked over at Damien who was on the couch playing some video games. Dinner had been great. Their parents were happy for them. Jake couldn't ask for anything more.

"Whatcha thinking about?" Damien asked.

"I was trying not to think of a way to tell the rest of our family and friends that I'm pregnant," Jake said.

"Please tell me you don't want to do something cheesy," Damien said.

"Oh babe, you know it," Jake said standing up. He closed his laptop and walked over to the couch. "I've seen people do the 'we're prego' with the jar of prego, or we could announce the due date..."

"Ok whatever you wanna do," Damien said placing a hand over Jake's. He lifted his hands up towards him. "I just want you happy Jake. That is all that matters to me," he said.

"Or the onsie Adam gave us, I could hold it over my stomach and you could take a picture," Jake said his eyes lighting up.

"Your the camera savy one here," Damien replied.

"But I can't take my own picture," Jake whined.

"Ok I'll do it," Damien said with a smile. Jake smiled and leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.

"Thank you Day," Jake said grinning.

"Anything for you," Damien replied.

So there you go another chapter done. What did Kyle over hear from Jared and Roldy? What will Kendall tell him? Jake and Damien told their parents. Will they have a boy or girl? Can Lilly move on? What will it take to get her to move on? Will Miles be ready for the next step of his relationship? Can he trust Rion? Also what happened to Layla and Erika? More to come as always stay tuned.
