Civilian in the suit
Now I consider myself a good person. I go to church every Sunday, I pay my bills and taxes, and generally mind my own business. I never asked to get caught in the crossfire. I was just going to do what I thought anyone else would do… But then, seconds before midnight, and we were still alive… and for the first time in a long time, I doubted myself. Was it a fluke? A malfunction? Or were they better than we thought they were? And then I couldn't do it. I don't know why, but I couldn't. Maybe it's because if I did, I'd be worse than the people who were the lowest of the low... I'm just glad that my decision didn't mean that hundreds of people died.
