I decided to wear a sky blue button down blouse and a black ruffled skirt with a pair of black flats. I quickly straightened my hair and pulled the sides back away from my face. Then I applied some black mascara, charcoal eyeliner and rose-tinted lipstick before heading back out to the console room. "More appropriate?" I asked as I walked into the room. The Doctor's head snapped up and he examined me from head to toe. "It'll do" he finally said.
"Seriously, do you think this is ok? I'm about to meet my idol and…I look horrible, don't I? I should go change."
"Violet, relax!" the Doctor said as he walked over to me and placed his hand on my shoulder. "You look absolutely brilliant. Love the hair, by the way. It's a good look on you."
"Thank you." He nodded before returning to the console.
"Hold on tight!" he called out. I grabbed onto the metal bar that surrounded the console area. A few seconds later, the TARDIS shook violently. Suddenly, a red light started flashing and there was an incessant beeping sound.
"Is this supposed to happen?"
"Not exactly. Something's trying to pull the TARDIS off course."
"What is?"
"If I knew that, I would have taken care of it by now."
"Sorry for asking" I muttered under my breath.
"Ah! I've locked onto something."
"What?"
"Looking into it now." He pressed a couple of buttons. There were a few short beeps followed by a long one. "Looks like someone is trying to send me a message. Just need to adjust the frequency and…Allonsy! I've got mail."
"What does it say?" The Doctor looked down and read the message. "Well?"
"This doesn't make any sense."
"What doesn't?" The Doctor read the message once again before finally looking up at me.
"It says…um...'Hello, Sweetie!'"
"Who'd be calling you sweetie? You don't seem like one for pet names."
"No idea and I'm not."
"Can you figure out who sent it to you?
"There's no need, Violet" a voice said. I spun around but, in doing so, I accidently let go of the railing and was thrown towards the floor when a pair of arms grabbed me and helped me upright. I looked up and saw a woman who looked about ten years older than the Doctor, two inches taller than me and with a wild mess of dirty-blond curls that never seemed to end. She helped to sit me down in a nearby seat before turning towards the Doctor. "Oh, for God's sake, turn on your stabilizers already!" She walked over to the console and pulled down two sets of levers. The TARDIS instantly stopped shaking.
"Finally" I groaned. The Doctor ignored me, instead turning towards the mystery woman.
"Who are you? How'd you get inside the TARDIS? How do you know how to fly her? And how the hell do you know my daughter's name?" The woman stood there for a moment, almost as if in shock but she quickly recovered.
"Oh, I see. It's very early for you. Right, then. I'm River Song and, as for the rest, Spoilers!"
"Spoilers? What does that even mean?" I inquired. River turned towards me.
"It means that I can't tell you."
"And why the hell not?" I asked with my arms folded and eyes narrowed. River simply smiled.
"Spoilers" she once again replied before turning her attention back to the Doctor
