The Promise
"If something did happen to me wouldn't you keep trying" Eve asked looking into Grovyle's eyes. "You know do it because some-one you cared about gave their life for it and that stuff" Eve's eyes were questioning but when Grovyle's answer was truthful. "Of course I would" Grovyle met Eve's gaze with steady eyes. "So we both promise to continue with the research if something bad happened to either of us" Eve asked. "I promise" Grovyle replied "and I promise too" Eve agreed smiling. Grovyle got up "Well we'd better get going now" he said. Before he could move anywhere Eve grabbed his wrest. She was looking at the ground "Grovyle you'd save the world no matter the cost right" she asked not meeting his gaze.
"Did we not just go over this, you know I'd do anything to change the world, why all the questions" Grovyle narrowed his eyes. Eve let go of his wrist and got up before walking away "No reason" she flung the words over her shoulder. Grovyle sighed how is it she always knew something he didn't and never told him. That's Eve for you if she could save some-one trouble or worry by putting herself forward then you can bet she will. Grovyle followed after her. Not wanting to worry a friend is a nice act but keeping information and worries to yourself can't always end in good. Since Grovyle was lost in thought he didn't notice that a thin fog was starting to encase the trail.
Eve stopped in a small circular clearing that was enshrouded with fog. There was a rock shaped like a Kangaskhan by the forest entrance. Just then Grovyle walked into Eve's back and knocked her forward a bit but she didn't fall over. "Watch where you're going" Eve snapped walking towards the rock. She touched the forehead of the rock it was very smooth and cold. Eve took out a small sketch book and pencil from her bag's pocket and began doing a rough sketch of the rock. "Eve come on let's leave today" Grovyle called to her from the forest entrance. "Just one sec" Eve replied. She hurried to finish her drawing and walked over to where Grovyle was waiting.
Eve walked toward him holding a book in her hand. She kept walking when she reached him and he walked beside her. "What were you doing" he asked looking at the book filled with blank pages. "Sketching the Kangaskhan rock" she answered him. "May I see" asked Grovyle. Eve handed him the book and he looked over it. The rock looked very real she had used shadow to make it look more 3D. "It's very good" Grovyle remarked flipping through the other pages. There was a picture of Limestone cavern entrance, the small clearing in Tree shroud forest that held the Time Gear and a Time Gear in the dark crystal.
Then there were some berry bushes and other plants and flowers. Some wild Pokémon and a picture of a Treecko sleeping with his tail curled around him. Grovyle looked at Eve who was blushing. "That you when you were a Treecko" she whispered. It looked like Eve could capture the innocence of anything even him. "I'm glad I drew that picture" Eve voice was stronger now. "Oh how come" Grovyle asked her, flipping to the next page. "Cause I can remember what you looked like when you were a Treecko, you looked so cute that night I just had to draw you" Eve recalled. How come I've never seen this sketch book before" Grovyle asked. "Probably because I'm always drawing when you're not paying any attention" Eve's mouth curved in a mischievous smile. Grovyle looked down at the page but on this page there was no plant, Pokémon or scene that was important. There was a man one that looked a lot like Eve.
He wore the same kind of cloths jacket, long geans and sneakers although Grovyle couldn't tell what colour they were because the drawing was done in pencil like the others. Just when Grovyle was about to ask who it was Eve snatched the book away and closed it quickly. Grovyle knew by the way she looked away from him that she didn't want to talk about it. "You're a very talented sketcher" He praised her hoping that it might cheer her up. "Thank you" She replied quickly but did not turn to look at him instead she looked at the ground on the side of the trail. Grovyle walked a head a bit and didn't notice that Eve had stopped.
