Chapter 29

Restoration

"Yami, do you think you can restrain that thing?" Atem asked quietly.

"Depends on how long you need it restrained for" Yami answered, flicking his ears back and forth.

"It'll take a minute. Bound it to the ground."

"As you wish." Yami growled as he ran forward, his paws lighting up with a bright green hue. As he was running large tree trunks began to burst from the ground, shooting up and wrapping around the beast once again.

More and more large trees shot from the ground, wrapping around the beast until nothing was visible but the beast's head. Yami jumped on the still standing beast, knocking it to the ground. "Atem! He's restrained."

"Alright! Yami! It's time we right our wrongs. It's time to rebuild the city of Kul Elna!"

Yami looked at Atem for a minute, blinking in surprise before nodding his head. Yami's body lit up a transparent white color, making him look like an albino wolf. Yami jumped down from the beast and walked back to Atem.

"What is he doing?" Zana asked, looking at the dog that was glowing white, his crimson red eyes glowing.

"He's returning to his master to get his command" the elder explained, watching Yami sit in front of Atem.

"Why is 'e actin' like a dog?" Joey asked, a brow raised.

"It is respectful. Yami respects Atem as his master. And so he will obey him as a dog would obey their owner. Atem was born with magical powers, around the age of eight he made himself a friend. That friend was Yami, at the time Yami was only able to make simple forms and wasn't able to maintain them for long without returning to Atem's body. Even though he is own person now, Atem is still his master until Atem releases him from his duties."

"Makes sense" Joey shrugged, turning back to the scene in front of them.

"Start with the houses. Once those are up, I want you to move the dead bodies outside the village and to a respectful grave. Then go for the palace. Don't miss anything, I want Kul Elna to look as it did all those years ago" Atem said.

Yami nodded, turning and running towards the house closest to him. He ran over the rubble that used to be the houses standing in the village of Kul Elna. As he ran over the pieces, the houses glowed with the same white hue as his body, rebuilding themselves as the village started to come together once again.

The elder and the others gasped as they watched Yami run, the buildings rebuilding themselves as he ran. "Oh my goodness" Ishizu gasped. "He's rebuilding Kul Elna."

"I knew he'd do it" the elder said, a smile of happiness coming to her face as she watched the wolf run.

The houses went down one side, rounding into a market at the end and houses running back down the other side. The palace sat at the end opposite of the market. There was a large gap between the houses on the end and the palace, large enough for eight more houses to be set on either side.

The houses continued to rebuild, Kul Elna becoming its former self as Yami changed colors once again. His body changing to a sandy brown color as he approached the center of the city. He squared his shoulders and buckled his knees, sending a shockwave of energy through the ground. A ripple of magic went across the sand covered ground, heading for the outskirts of Kul Elna.

Atem watched as the beast shrunk more and more. He smiled watching Yami's power stretch and expand around Kul Elna. He felt as if a burden were lifted from his chest, and he knew Yami felt the same when he watched a smile spread across the wolf's face.

"What's that?" Serenity asked, pointing to the ripple of magic headed their way.

"Looks like a wave of sand" Ishizu said.

"It's Yami's magic" the elder said.

They all watched as the ground rippled, and stones popped up everywhere. "It must be taking a lot of energy to do whatever it is he's doing" Zana said quietly.

"It does take a lot of energy. But he's able to draw power from Atem, so long as he is in the village with him" the elder informed her.

Yugi smiled as a wave of relief went through him. He didn't know why he felt that way, maybe he was just happy that Yami was okay. But he felt like it was something deeper than that.

Once the graves were made, Yami ran towards the rubble that was the palace. His glowing hue turning back to white once again. He noticed the beast shrinking even more as he went, the spirit of vengence was finally being put to rest, along with the spirits of Kul Elna. Atem held out his hand, running it along Yami's side as the wolf ran past him, a smile on his face.

Yami jumped on every piece of rubble that was once the palace, stopping on the roof piece as it floated into the air, the rest of the palace rebuilding itself. He jumped off once it was rebuilt, returning to Atem's side.

The two of them turned, watching as the beast shrank away and disappeared. "We did it" Atem sighed, relieved that it was over with.

"Yes, yes we did" Yami sighed, chuckling when Atem wrapped his arms around him.

The two of them walked over to the others, the elder smiling at Yami as he approached. "Allow me to help you too, your majesty" Yami said, pressing his nose to the palm of her hand.

The others watched with wide eyes as her body glowed a bright white. The cape that she hid under fell away as a beautiful young woman appeared in front of them. "Thank you" she said softly.

"Couldn't put you to rest before making you what you once were."

She bent down to be face to face with Yami, placing a kiss on his forehead "I told you you could do it. Thank you for saving the village" she said, running her hand over his head.

"Couldn't have done it alone" Yami said, turning to face Atem.

Atem smiled, turning back towards the village and sighing. Yami tilted his head, but didn't get a chance to ask when Atem told him what was on his mind. "Ya know, if I could do just one more thing. I wish I could run through that village one more time. Just like we used to" he said softly, walking back towards the village.

Yami turned and followed after him, the others right behind him now that it was safe. The two boys stood in front of the group, looking down the 'street' that went in the middle of the village. "You know, it's not too late" Yami said softly, smiling at Atem.

Atem smiled, turning to look at Yami. "Once more? For old times sake?"

"I can do ya one better" Yami replied, turning to his black shadow self and wrapping around Atem, the two becoming one once again. Yami closed his eyes as he concentrated, shrinking down until a tri-colored puppy stood on the streets of Kul Elna once again.

The former queen smiled as the silly puppy took off, running through the village once again, just as it had three thousand years ago.

The pup slowed down once it reached the turn around point. Breathing in the dusty village air. They turned slowly in a circle, flashbacks coming into their minds, invisible spirits dancing around the once busy village. They saw the butcher, the bustling kiosk owners, the fruit sellers, the happy families, and even Atem's parents.

As he turned he grew, returning back to his normal size and splitting apart, back into two. Atem leaned back, putting his forearms on Yami's back as they stopped, still looking around. Kul Elna was back. It was freed from the curse that had been put upon it.

Me: That's it! :D Lol, next chapter, is the last chapter, and MAY be longer than this one. I'm not sure. Pretty sure it will be ^w^ So, until next time everyone! *waves* Goodbye!
