Chapter 29: Fred

The past few months flew by. DA meetings were going swimmingly, George and I had completed our skiving snack boxes and were now producing a range of fireworks to join our ever growing collection of products.

I was carelessly adding more knotgrass to another potion for these fireworks when George bounded into the room.

"Did you finally go all the way with Angelina?" I asked him, taking in his giddy expression.

"Even better!" He beamed. I noticed he had a letter in his hand. He ran over to me as I dropped the last of the ingredients I needed into the potion, and turned to receive a surprising hug from my twin.

"What happened?" I asked, as he handed me the letter. I messily reopened it and read it hungrily.

Dear Mr F Weasley and Mr G Weasley,

We are delighted to inform you that your request to purchase the property "93 Diagon Alley" has been accepted. We would like to arrange a meeting with you as soon as possible to discuss finances, a contract and any potential loans.

Your reply would appreciated as soon as you receive this owl confirming a date and time which you are available.

Yours Sincerely,

Garrick Ollivander.

"YES!" I yelled, hugging George again as we celebrated in complete happiness. "Are we going to leave Hogwarts straight away?"

"I wouldn't" considered George, who was still weighing up his options. "Mum would kill us, and we also need a lot more products to give us a proper kick start. We can store all our stuff there though. Next time we're in Hogsmeade we can apparate to London and drop off products there until we leave."

"Aren't there spell limits?" I asked, considering 'Hogwarts: a History'. Hermione wouldn't stop spouting information from it. It was adorable.

"Yes, but I think if we talk to our buddies in 'Zonko's' there could be a way around it." He replied, obviously covering all the loopholes.

"This is brilliant!" I cheered, in blissful happiness.

"We can't tell anyone yet though." Said George seriously. "We haven't confirmed anything yet. We will have to wait after we arrange this meeting. I think this calls a trip to see Dumbledore. Before his office gets monitored as well as all the other teachers'."

"I hope he brings out the Monopoly board again." I said wistfully, as we left the room together, pretending nothing had even happened.

We entered the common room and I instantly scanned the room for Hermione, who amazingly was still my girlfriend. I swooped over to her on my way to the portrait hole, kissed her on the lips before she could even look up from her book and caught up with George before he could notice I was gone.

"Nice to see you too!" called Hermione as we headed down the corridor towards the tower. We stayed silent, as Umbridge was limiting free communication and she was also starting to unofficially employ students as such to catch anyone misbehaving. Although we like causing trouble, we didn't want to be expelled.

We approached the tower, and clearing our throats, we sang in unison:

"We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz!"

The gargoyles sprung aside as we ascended the spiral staircase. We then knocked twice, waited for two seconds, then knocked again twice.

"Mr Weasley and Mr Weasley!" Dumbledore called from inside. "You may enter."

The door sprung open at Dumbledore's request and we stepped inside his grand office.

"Would you like your usual beverages?" Dumbledore asked us pleasantly as he bustled around his office with surprising agility.

"Thanks Dumbledore!" I said, dropping myself onto a chair in front of his desk.

The Headmaster returned to his desk with a cup of tea for himself, a black coffee for me and some fruit tea for George, which is one of the very few things that I can't stand and he absolutely loves.

"Before you ask, Dolores has tried to monitor things that go on in my office, but what she doesn't realise is that my power overrides hers." He winked, taking a sip of tea. "What have you been sent here for? Monopoly night is not until tomorrow."

"Damn it." I exclaimed, taking a long drag of coffee.

"We came here of our own accord." Started George. "We need permission to attend a meeting in London."

"Interesting. I'm glad this proposal wasn't in a few weeks time, I can't see me being in this office much longer." He mused casually. George and I looked at each other with widened eyes, but Dumbledore was sipping his tea as if he had just told us the weather forecast this week from the Muggle News, which was something he tended to inform us about whenever we were here.

"Basically we've been offered a building for our shop." I confided, picking off from where George left off.

"Ooh Good!" smiled Dumbledore. "About time! When's the meeting?"

"We haven't organised it yet." I replied. "Ollivander has requested that we arrange it as soon as possible though."

"Organise it for Thursday." Dumbledore ordered. "I'll mysteriously disappear for the day so she'll be wondering why I'm not here instead of paying attention to you. Maybe I'll see my friend Horace…"

"Thanks Dumbledore!" we said, putting our empty cups on the desk and rising from our chairs.

"You can use my fireplace that I will conjure up somewhere between now and Thursday. You've given me the perfect opportunity to sort through my muggle magazines… maybe I'll find some inspiration for a new password… maybe another Muggle musical… I think the Wizard of Oz was a bit to cliche don't you think?"

"What about Les Miserables?" George suggested. "That's quite popular lately, according to Dad anyway."

"Sounds good!" applauded Dumbledore. "I'll let you know, Monopoly night's tomorrow, maybe I'll have it decided by then."

"Yes!" I jubilated.

"In the meantime," said Dumbledore. "Go back to your room via this tapestry. I don't want to send you away from school yet."

"We don't plan on leaving now." Assured George as we clambered into the tapestry and left the office, overjoyed that we had Dumbledore for a Headmaster.

"Dad's right." George said to me on the way back. "He truly is the best Headmaster."

We re-entered the common room when we got back. George left me to see Angelina again and I joined Hermione, who was now alone.

"Hey, you." I greeted her affectionately. I pulled her close and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. I kissed her forehead so I didn't disturb her reading, but she looked up to my surprise.

"How come you can't enter the common room back through the portrait hole like the rest of us?" She asked, leaning against my chest.

"Perks of having a room to ourselves." I whispered, lightly hugging her. I still couldn't believe that we were still together. It was insane.

"I wish I could have a room to myself." Said Hermione bitterly. "All I can hear when I'm trying to read is gossip about how attractive you and George are. I don't need to be told how good looking my boyfriend is."

I couldn't help but laugh. "Do they even know we're dating?" I asked her. It had been months now, and although we hadn't publicised it people had worked out we were together by seeing us holding hands and hugging. Hermione had specified that we kept public displays of affection to a minimum, which I understood, but didn't always comply to.

"I don't think they can quite understand it." Mused Hermione, who sent her book up to her dorm with a lazy flick of her wand. Most people were drifting upstairs to bed now, as it was a school night.

"What do you mean they can't understand it?" I asked, confused. Did they not understand the concept of relationships?

"Well, because you're so good looking, and athletic, and funny... Yet you're dating me." She said.

"Well," I mimicked, making her giggle against me. "You're beautiful, you're smart- which, may I add is much better than being able to run around a pitch, and you can be funny… but most of the time you're too blinded by your intelligence and logic." I ran a hand through her hair, which always relaxed her.

"Hey!" She turned around to face opposite me, frowning but not too seriously. "I'm not blinded!"

"I'm not saying it's a bad thing!" I protested, my hand still lingering near her face. "I think you're great just the way you are."

She looked around to check no one was in here, considered her options, and then smiled at me. She moved her head towards me and I continued to cup her small face as our lips met. I moved one hand to the small of her back to support her as I leaned back onto the sofa we were sat on. It got to the point where she was leaning over me and still kissing me, her beautiful fierce mane of hair hiding us like a secret curtain. "I love you." I told her as we broke apart for air.

Like I did those few months ago, she responded by straddling me and kissing me again.

I wished these moments lasted forever.
