"Don't get me wrong mate," Will began as he stood beside Robin, his forearms resting upon the wooden fence that lined the field in which they stood, both gazes following the brunette as she laughed upon the back of a beautiful silver mare, "it was a nice gesture but really?"

Robin merely shrugged, not daring for one minute to look away from Regina in all her glorious beauty, she was absolutely stunning out there and it took his breath away to see the happiness he knew she had within her yet she rarely showed. "She deserves it," was his simple answer. All knew of the girl's troubled home life, many had either been on the brunt of her mood swings or had at least been witness to them but none knew of the pain within her. The rawness that lay under Regina's thick skin. They hadn't seen the bruises she hid beneath long sleeved sweaters that Robin pressed tender kisses to in the darkness of his room, they hadn't caught sight of the reddened tear tracks hidden beneath a layer of powder, tears that Robin had wiped away only hours earlier on their walk to school. They didn't know her like he did, none of them.

"How did you even afford it?" he asked, not bothering to press the matter of his friend's vague statement, knowing of the fierce protectiveness that came with Robin's love for the girl. "I mean this must have cost you…" he trailed off then and though the urge was strong, Robin's blue eyes remained on his girl, finding it hard to regret spending the inheritance his Grandfather had left for him, the money meant to secure his future no matter what he decided to do with his life. "Tell me you didn't."

"I can't," he gave back, turning to glance at Will for only a moment before looking back to find Regina dismounting from the horse, landing upon the ground with a soft bounce before moving so that her forehead could rest against the mare's, soft fingers stroking through the hair on the animal's cheek.

"Jesus mate," Will exclaimed then, "I knew you were in love with the girl but come on, this is verging on obsession," and Robin knew his friend was being deliberately over-dramatic, had been told such a thing before he'd been able to gain Regina's attention two years ago, and so he could only laugh and nod his head. "That money was for your future…" he continued on, growing serious then just as Robin was, turning to look at him once more with such sincerity in his eyes before he was nodding in Regina's direction, smiling when she began making her way over to them with the horse trailing behind her, eyes full of life and such happiness.

"That right there is my future," he said with a finality that left no room for argument nor disbelief. "Regina is my only future."
