As Mattias approaches the village, Anna looks out at Arendelle. "Isn't it wonderful to see Arendelle again?" exclaims Anna. "I don't think she has ever looked so beautiful!"
"Yes, it gives me a warm feeling to see the inviting and comforting home of ours," replies Elsa. "I just hope that it won't be a sad and lonely home that I am returning to."
"No matter what Elsa, I will always be here for you," responds Anna trying to give Elsa some comfort.
"I know, and I am glad to have you as a sister," replies Elsa. "I never want to lose you, but I hope that I can still have Kristian in my life."
"You still have his magic, Elsa," says Anna. "So there still is hope that Kristian is still here. He is just waiting for you to return."
As Mattias was flying, he was high in the air. The firebird was not as high as the mountains, but everyone on the sled could see far into the back country. While Anna and Elsa are focused on the village of Arendelle, Kristoff's attention is shortly drawn to the location of the home of his adoptive family. From this height, Kristoff is able to see the treetops at the location of the trolls. As Kristoff views this location his eyes soon fall upon an unusual bright glint near the troll's home.
"What's that over there?" asks Kristoff as he points over to the unusual light.
Both Anna and Elsa turn to look in the direction that Kristoff is pointing. Soon their eyes fall upon the bright glint. "It's hard to tell from here," replies Anna. "Maybe if we are closer, we could tell what it is."
Elsa then turns to Mattias and exclaims, "Mattias take us closer!" So as Mattias begins to fly closer to the light, Elsa turns back to the others. Then she says, "A few minute detour won't delay us too much."
As Mattias flies closer, everyone is able to make out what was causing the glint of light. It was light reflecting off of ice. It was late summer and there was ice out in the open. What made this even more unusual was the fact that this ice formed a small structure. "It's a building made of ice!" exclaims Anna.
"Why would that building be so close to the trolls?" asks Kristoff. "It's not like they have any real need for such a building."
Just then, a familiar figure walks out of the small structure pushing an empty handcart. It was Olaf. He was heading over to a horse drawn cart that has ice on the back.
"Olaf!" exclaims Elsa. Then she turns to the firebird and says, "Take us down, Mattias!"
Mattias lets out a screech as he begins to descend down. In a few moments, Mattias gently lands the basket with its living cargo near the cart and Olaf.
"Hi!" exclaims Olaf as he waves vigorously as he comes running up to Elsa and the others as they climb out of the sled. "You're back, and I am excitedly happy to see all of you in one piece! You've had everyone worried in Arendelle, about your wellbeing!"
"We were fortunate to escape from Tollak," replies Anna. "He was not at all willing to cooperate with us."
"Ya, he went after Elsa with some wicked power," adds Kristoff. "Luckily Elsa was able to match his energy, even if doing so had a bad effect on her."
"It was only by luck and the efforts of everyone, that we made it through," interjects Elsa. "A timely intervention by Kristian also helped us to succeed in our goal. Speaking of which, where is Kristian?"
"He's not doing so well," replies Olaf. "Kristian's condition took an unexpected turn for the worse."
"What?! But the magic of the curse was returned to Tollak!" says a surprised Elsa. "I had hoped that would have returned Kristian back to his normal self!"
"Oh, it is not the fire curse that is the problem now," replies Olaf. "His current problem is what Anna had over a year ago. Kristian has turned to solid ice."
"No, this is my entire fault," exclaims Elsa as she begins to run towards the small ice structure.
"Wait!" shouts Olaf. "Grand Pabbie says it is too early to tell how serious his condition is!"
However, Elsa does not hear Olaf; and she continues to run into the ice structure. "Wait up, Elsa!" shouts Anna as she begins to follow her sister inside.
Meanwhile, Kristoff just stands there with Olaf. Behind both of them stands Mattias. Mattias is releasing his excess energy. As he does this, a cloud of steam rises from the firebird. This is because Elsa's cold magic is part of Mattias.
"So what does Grand Pabbie mean that it is too early to tell?" asks Kristoff as he addresses Olaf.
"It has something to do with the fact that not all of Kristian is here," replies Olaf.
"He's not all here?" questions Kristoff.
Ya, energy took off from Kristian just before he turned into ice," replies Olaf. "That energy was part of him. So until it returns to him, Grand Pabbie cannot tell what is going to happen to Kristian."
"Oh man, Elsa and Grand Pabbie both need to be told!" exclaims Kristoff as he begins to run towards the ice structure.
"Why? What's the big hurry?" exclaims Olaf as he runs after Kristoff.
Elsa has Kristian's magic; and if she is not careful, she may end up doing something she will regret!" exclaims Kristoff.
As for Elsa, she has gotten to the interior of the ice structure. She stops just a few feet inside the door. What Elsa sees shocks her. Even though she already knew what she was going to find. In the middle of the building, there is a stone slab that is elevated off the floor by a sturdy base. On this slab lies Kristian. Elsa can easily see that Kristian is completely made of ice.
Standing near Kristian is Grand Pabbie. He is busy generating an aura of glittering blue energy around Kristian. It is the same kind of aura that was used to cool Kristian down when he was flaming uncontrollably. Now Grand Pabbie is using the aura to help keep Kristian from melting in the summer air.
As Elsa gazes on this sight, she is unable to do anything. The shear shock of seeing Kristian in this state left Elsa standing there in complete silence. It was during this time that Anna comes into the room.
Anna comes up alongside of Elsa. She then stops and stares at the frozen state that Kristian is in. "Oh Elsa, this is terrible," says Anna in a quiet tone to her sister.
This simple acknowledgement snaps Elsa out of her shocked state. "It's my fault," replies Elsa as she continues to stare at Kristian. "No matter what I do, I always hurt those that I care about. First it was you and Arendelle. Now it is Kristian."
"Elsa, you can't think like that," responds Anna as she moves to look at her sister. "Ever since you have met him, you have helped Kristian. You freed him from Goran's manipulations, and you've even given him a home in Arendelle. Don't forget, you also returned the demon's curse back to Tollak."
"Yes…., but at what cost?" somberly says Elsa.
Before Anna can reply to this, Grand Pabbie approaches the sisters. "Your majesty," says Grand Pabbie as he comes to a stop. "I did not expect you to have returned so soon. Since you are here, I take it that you were able to persuade Tollak to free Kristian?"
"It wasn't so much as persuading him. It was more like having Tollak take the curse back, unwillingly," replies Elsa. Then Elsa looks over to Kristian and asks, "Has this happened because of me? By using my powers on Kristian, have I frozen him?"
Grand Pabbie looks over at Kristian for a moment before turning back towards Elsa. "It is your magic that has placed Kristian in this icy form. However, do not blame yourself for Kristian's current state," states Grand Pabbie. "The ice that you place in his heart helped to keep Kristian's magic stable. Kristian's current condition is the result of his own actions, not yours."
"I still feel responsible for this," then says Elsa somberly.
"Have courage your majesty," replies Grand Pabbie. "It is still possible for Kristian to come back to us. I've been making preparations for that possible event. With the contrasts between your two energies, it may be a difficult conversion."
Elsa nods slowly before she begins to walk towards Kristian's reclining body. Once she reaches him, Elsa places her hand on Kristian's chest. "I am so sorry about this, Kristian," says Elsa as a snowflake tear forms on her cheek. "This was the last thing that I wanted to happen. You just need to come back so that I can make things right by you."
Just then, Kristoff and Olaf come running into the room. "Elsa, stop!" exclaims Kristoff as he comes to a stop next to Anna.
This abrupt entrance by Kristoff surprises the others that are in the room. They all turn to look at Kristoff. Elsa turns her head so quickly that the snowflake tear on her cheek breaks free. This snowflake begins to float down towards Kristian. Elsa even pulls her hand away from Kristian's body.
"Kristoff! What is it? What is wrong?" asks a puzzled and worried Elsa.
Elsa, you need to move away from Kristian!" exclaims Kristoff. "You are holding onto Kristian's magic!"
"If this is true, Kristian could be in serious danger!" exclaims Grand Pabbie. "His body is in a fragile state, and the sudden return of his magic could be devastating to Kristian!"
"What? No," replies Elsa as she looks back down at Kristian as she begins to move away. "I didn't realize that I was such a threat."
As Elsa continues to back away with her eye fixated on Kristian, her snowflake tear lands on Kristian. Once the snowflake touches Kristian's body, an unusual thing begins to happen. Elsa begins to glow. As Elsa backs away, a red aura begins to form around her.
Initially, Elsa does not realize that she is glowing. However, the others are astonished to see this light emanate from her. "Elsa, you're glowing!" exclaims Anna out of shock.
"What?!" replies Elsa as she turns to look over at her sister.
"Anna's not kidding!" exclaims Kristoff. "You're glowing red!"
Elsa looks down at herself and she can see the red aura around her. Elsa then lifts up her arms and hands, and she stares at this startling event that surrounds her outstretched arms.
Kristian's magic has become active within you!" exclaims Grand Pabbie. "You must prepare yourself for the coming energy transference!"
"How do I do that?!" exclaims Elsa as she is fearful that she won't be able to control the process.
Suddenly the sound of cracking ice is heard behind Elsa. Out of fear, Elsa turns around to look at Kristian. She is afraid that this event may have destroyed Kristian. However what she sees is one of Kristian's icy hands lifted into the air. The hand is open as if it wants to grasp someone else's hand. A small blue glow can be seen coming from the open palm of this hand.
Elsa just stands there and looks at this raised hand. She is afraid to do anything. The last thing that Elsa wants to do is to make Kristian's state even worse. However, Grand Pabbie steps forward to examine this energy coming from Kristian's hand.
"Remarkable!" exclaims Grand Pabbie as he examines this energy. Then he turns and says to Elsa, "Kristian is somehow controlling the energy that you have placed in his heart. He is creating a magical pathway for his energy to return to him."
"What should I do?" asks a concerned Elsa. "Is there any risk that might befall Kristian?"
"There is always risk, and we are dealing with the unknown here," replies Grand Pabbie. "You and Kristian have been combining your powers in ways that have not been done before. There is no telling what the final outcome will be. However, sometimes you just need to have faith that everything will turn out all right."
Elsa nods rigidly as she acknowledges what Grand Pabbie has said. Then she slowly walks over to Kristian and lifts her hand slightly. However, Elsa stops for a moment, and then she anxiously looks over at Anna.
"Go on, Elsa," encourages Anna. "You said that you are able to control Kristian's magic because of the bond that the both of you have. Just trust in that bond and I am sure things will turn out for the best."
Elsa nods slightly in response to Anna's encouragement as she turns to look back at Kristian. Then with a deep breath, Elsa stretches her hand out and grasps the frozen hand of Kristian. Once their hands meet, a blue aura develops around their joined hands. As this light around their joined hands grows, the red aura that surrounds Elsa begins to move towards their joined hands. Soon the red aura is all that surrounds their joined hands. A few moments later, the red aura begins to move down Kristian's arm. As it does, the light fades away into Kristian's body.
For a moment after the light fades away, Elsa just stands there holding Kristian's icy hand. She wonders if the energy transfer has failed. However, a few seconds after this thought has entered her mind, Kristian's fingers begin to wrap tightly around Elsa's hand.
With this new sign of life beginning to emerge from Kristian; Elsa's face brightens with joy as she watches the transformation of Kristian's body back into its natural form. Finally, Elsa watches as Kristian takes a deep breath and then his eyes open.
Once his eyes fall upon Elsa's face, Kristian smiles and quietly says, "Hey."
"Oh, Kristian!" exclaims Elsa happily as she bends down and gives Kristian a hug. "I was worried that you wouldn't be able to come back to me!"
Kristian places an arm over Elsa's back and hugs her back. "I was the one who thought that I would lose you to Tollak," responds Kristian. "It wouldn't have matter what happened to me, if it meant that I could help you."
Then Elsa sits upright on the edge of the stone slab. "Don't you dare say such a thing," replies Elsa with a smile. "I didn't want to go through all of that for nothing."
"And I didn't want you to risk yourself for me," says Kristian with a smile.
Then a big grin comes across Elsa's face. Then she quickly bends down and kisses Kristian. This kiss startles Kristian, and his head and shoulders flare up because of this surprise. Elsa's own powers respond to these flames by causing a swirl of snow just above the top of her head. Snowflakes even descend from this swirling snow.
After the initial shock, Kristian pushes Elsa up off of himself. "Careful, you might hurt yourself!" exclaims Kristian out of concern for Elsa's safety.
"Hush," says Elsa calmly as she places a hand on the side of Kristian's flaming face. With this hand, Elsa is able to put out the flames that cover that side of Kristian's head. "You know that a little heat has never bothered me."
Kristian smiles as he looks up at Elsa. "You always seem to know how to cool the fire that burns in my heart," says Kristian.
"And you know how to start a fire in mine," replies Elsa with a smile.
Then Elsa slowly bends down again and kisses Kristian. This time Kristian was ready for Elsa. So as their lips meet again, Elsa's magic smoothly moves over Kristian's face and shoulder. As it has in the past, Elsa's magic puts out the flames that cover Kristian.
However, during this tender moment, a screech is heard coming from the doorway. It is Mattias. The firebird was able to come into the room by riding on Olaf's stick arm. With Mattias's screech, Elsa and Kristian look over at the firebird and everyone else.
"I don't think we are alone," says Kristian with some slight embarrassment.
Elsa giggles a little as she sits upright on the stone slab. "No, it looks like we have an audience today," replies Elsa with a slightly silly tone.
"Hey, Kristian!" exclaims Olaf as he walks nearer to Elsa and Kristian. "It's wonderful to see you feeling better!"
Kristian rolls up onto one elbow so he can talk to Olaf more face to face. "Yes, I am feeling better," replies Kristian. "And I have a lot of people to thank for getting me to this point. You are one of those people that I need to thank."
"I was happy to help!" exclaims Olaf. "And it was really just a simple thing for me to do."
Olaf, there was nothing simple about it," replies Kristian as he gets to his feet with the assistance of Elsa. "I had flame control issues; and with you being made of snow, you could have been melted. Despite that danger, you still continued to help me. You even help to cool me off by constantly bringing ice to me."
"Some people are worth melting for, and I can't think of a better way to go than to depart helping a friend," says Olaf. "As for the ice, it was just simply sitting around."
"Speaking of that ice, where did you find it in the middle of summer?" asks Kristoff. "And where did this building of ice come from?"
Oh, the ice was just sitting around in your ice house," replies Olaf. "It wasn't doing anything. So I thought I could put it to some good use. I've been bring what was left of that ice here for the trolls to use, and they built this structure with it."
"Wait a second, you have been using up my ice?" exclaims Kristoff.
"Not all of it," replies Olaf. "I think there is a few dozen blocks left."
"Only a few dozen!" exclaims Kristoff. "I had hundreds of blocks in there! How am I going to run my business without any blocks of ice?"
After watching this, Elsa begins to laugh. Then Anna joins in the laugh. As for Kristoff, he looks at the sisters with disbelief. Then Anna comes up alongside of Kristoff. "Don't worry about it," says Anna with a slight giggle. "I think you will be well compensated."
"Of course you will be paid for your contribution," adds Elsa with a smile. "And the compensation will be for more than just the ice."
"It is good to hear that, but I wasn't thinking of the money side of the problem," replies Kristoff. "Well, maybe I was thinking of it a little. It is more like I was thinking of my customers. I can't meet their needs if I don't have any ice to deliver to them."
Anna begins to giggle. Then she says, "I don't think you will have any problem finding ice for your customers."
Then with a smile, Elsa waves her hand around. With this gesture, a square column of ice grows from the floor. "I think I will be able to help you with that problem," says Elsa with a smile.
After what Elsa has said, Kristoff brings a hand up to the side of his head. "Oh, right, I sometimes forget that you are able to do this stuff," says Kristoff as he is a little embarrassed by his forgetfulness.
"I guess that might be one reason why I don't mind having you around," replies Elsa with a smile. "You might be a little annoying at times, but you don't treat me any different from anybody else. I like that about you."
"You think that I am annoying?!" exclaims Kristoff out of surprise.
Everyone begins to laugh at Kristoff's reaction. Then Anna says, "At least you are lovable when you are."
Kristoff begins to turn a bright red from Anna's comment. Then everyone begins to laugh again.
In time, everyone heads out to the sled. Elsa creates four ice spoked wheels under the sled so that it can move over the ground more easily. Kristoff climbs into the driver's seat, and Anna sits next to him. Meanwhile, Elsa and Kristian sit behind them. As for Olaf he goes and climbs into the back of the sled. As he does, Olaf holds onto the reins of the horse that he has been using to bring ice to the trolls.
Once everyone was situated, Sven begins to pull everyone back to the village of Arendelle.
