This chapter is very short and I'm sorry about that :( and it's also the last chapter, the next is the epilogue and then I'm done. The epilogue is longer and I hope better. Anyway, here's chapter 29!

There's just something about seeing one of you best friends killed in front of you that makes you snap. I'll spare you the gory details, I saw the blade go up and come down, saw the blood. She didn't even have time to scream or cry out in pain, it was that quick.

"JESSICA!" I screamed as her body collapsed, her blood painted on the Praetors sword. Tears poured down my cheeks. "JESSICA! WHAT DID YOU DO? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? YOU KILLED HER!" I sobbed in despair, boiling hot rage churning in my gut, so much rage it scared me. There was a monster inside, waiting to be released.

"I took care of a Gracious scum." The Praetor said. "Now I'm ready to take care of another one."

"Her name was Jessica Brooks, a daughter of Aphrodite and Hunter Brooks." I said, my voice soft yet loud. "She was sixteen years old. She ran away when she was thirteen and made her way to camp after a year on the streets. She was nice to everyone she met, always helping people. She was dating my other friend, Raymond Rodriguez, he died a day or so ago saving her life after our quest. She never had time to grieve, he was a good guy. A son of Poseidon. We were on a quest to save the world, we saved you."

"Lies." The Praetor said, shaking his head in disgust. "You Gracious are deceitful, manipulative, scum that must be destroyed. You're like a plague."

"It's not our fault that our parents are Greek Gods!" I shouted. "Do you think I asked to be born? That I wanted this life? It's not my fault!"

The Praetor raised his sword. "Any last words?"

That did it for me. He had the nerve to ask me if I had any last words while killing Jessica without a warning or a word. I snapped.

I can't explain what happened next, honestly. All I know is that I went berserk, I let that monster inside consume me, let it change me. My eyesight sharpened and I felt fast and agile, but all I saw was red, all I heard was a river roaring.

The Roman Legions scattered, some tried to attack me but I felt invincible, their weapons passed through me and they fell easily to me. They scattered under my assault and I was about to chase after them until I hear one of the Roman's scream monster.

Monster.

I blacked out.

. . .

When I came to my fever was gone and it was dark out. I shakily stood up and surveyed my surroundings, immediately turning and throwing up. And I threw up food.

That was weird, when did I eat? What did I eat?

I looked around and put my hand over my mouth . . . wait . . . why was my hand soaked in blood? The bodies . . . I thought they were the romans. I swallowed hard and tried to look away, but the blood was everywhere.

Did I do this?

I staggered through the minefield of bodies, working my way to the stage. I paused to search the bodies until I came up with 2 drachma's. I walked to Jessica's body and tucked them in her pocket.

"For you and Raymond." I whispered.

Then I picked up her camp necklace, putting it in my bag and sobbing softly. But I had to get out of here, in case reinforcements showed up.

I turned and ran, jumping over bodies, I was about to leave when I heard a whimper. I turned and saw a young boy, no older than 13, he was slowly dying from a bite in his side. Tears filled my eyes and I walked over to him, kneeling down.

"What happened?" I asked. "What did this to you?"

His eyes widened in terror when he saw me. "G – go away!" He shouted. "L – leave me alone!"

"I'm not going to hurt you." I said as soothingly as possible. "I'll try to help, just tell me what happened."

"Monster!" He cried.

Then, before I could stop him, he pulled out an imperial golden dagger and stabbed me in the chest.

At least he tried. The blade passed through me like I didn't exist, like I was ghost. I felt sick.

"Monster." I said. "What monster?"

He started crying. "Bad wolf! Go away! Go Away! GO AWAY!"

I felt like I had been shot. I took his dagger. "I'm so, so sorry." I murmured, stabbing him through the head. He went limp and I made sure he had a drachma on him before leaving.

I ran as fast as I could, diving into the nearest stream and scrubbing myself down, bawling my eyes out. But I couldn't wash away the memories, I couldn't wash it away.

I steeled myself and looked down, confirming my worst fears.

My eyes were red.

I was a Lycanthrope.

I was a monster.

So, bet you didn't expect that, or maybe you did, I dunno. Next up is the epilogue, it's gonna bounce around a bit and tie up loose ends. So I'll see you in four days!
