Chapter 78: Stuck Together

Ai sat back down in her seat. She was anxious now. Kudo-kun had let that man live in his house and now that woman was close. Even worse, these people had to have a reason for being here. Kuroba-san had spoken as if she knew of the danger that viper woman was, even if she had practically brushed it off. This was so dangerous. Kudo-kun was keeping secrets. Once this plane took off she was going to drag him off to the bathroom and get the story.

Saguru had caught some of what had been said behind him and was surprised that the girl was there. He recalled her being the one whom took charge of his first medical tests, though he had not heard from her since.

Ai saw Hakuba-kun in front of her. If anything, he had given in to answering her questions before. Now he was an opportune candidate for getting answers again. The problem was the inspector. Ai looked at the doctor. He could only give her the medical report and, now that she had it, he was of no use to her. She got down from her seat a second time, walking over to stand before the inspector. She let out a breath of air before opening her eyes wide, putting a hand up to her chest like she was afraid. "Hey, Uncle. Can I sit with Saguru-oniisan? I don't know that man and I've never been on a plane before. I'm afraid."

Nakamori looked down at the strange girl he'd only ever seen in passing. He didn't even know her name. The most time he'd spent with her had been at the hospital. Looking back, he could see Asano-sensei was behind him and everyone else had taken their seats. She's just a child. If Saguru-kun is fine with it. But then, what if the kid needs the bathroom? With the girl looking at him like that though—Aoko having done so one too many times—he had to turn away and try not to fall for it. It wasn't like she could sit on someone's lap during the flight though. Or maybe she could. He hadn't been on a plane in years. "Hm." Nakamori looked over at Saguru. "You wanna sit with the kid? I didn't know you knew her."

Saguru nodded. "I do not mind." He wondered if she was trying to pass on the test results without exposing how much she knew to Nakamori-keibu.

"Fine then." Nakamori didn't have any luggage since it had been taken. It weighed too much apparently so it was thrown wherever bags were thrown. He unclipped his seatbelt and got up. "No leaving. We should be taking off soon."

Ai nodded though she wasn't sure who the order was aimed at. She kept her child-like demeanor until the inspector left. She sat down and looked over at Hakuba-kun. "What the hell happened since I left? I want to know a detailed account of everything you know. We have a long plane ride."

Saguru turned his head slightly toward her and nodded. "Would you answer a question for me first? Those kits you took to test. What did they show?"

Ai leveled her eyes. "I have nothing to keep you from lying to me or cutting the facts short. I'll tell you once you've answered me first."

Saguru closed his eyes. He was hopeful for Kaito-kun's sake. He let out a breath and began with hearing of Hattori being taken a second time. He left out anything that would connect Kaito-kun to Kid or concerning his relationship to him.

Ai listened, not caring at all that the plane took off or the idiocy of the man who put the blind kid by the window. The information spoke for itself and, as always, she couldn't see whatever larger purpose was being fulfilled. She was really bothered now though. That woman. Her last name sounded so familiar, though she couldn't place why. She'd never met any Kuroba as far as she could remember and it was frustrating. If she wasn't so worried that one of them was going to hijack the plane and send them all to a watery grave, or thata some 'accidental' missile was going to launch and careen into the aircraft, she would have had more time to be bothered by it. No matter what happened, this boy was now connected to them and his name would be put on record. He'd be followed. If he became good enough as a detective, he'd be killed. His future looked as bleak as they came. She said nothing, more worried for herself and a few of those aboard than for someone she considered a dead man already.

Saguru concluded with her appearance at the burned out remnants of the house, making no reference to the photographs, and saying that Conan-kun had inspected the hard drive she had left.

Ai looked over at him. "If I find out you left out anything I needed to know you're going to regret the day you met me." She let out a breath, relaxing into the seat now. "As for your information, the fact alone that I didn't call you should have indicated my results were conclusive and negative. Why you seem to be expecting something besides that, I'm not sure."

"With our movement and the fact we had to stay concealed for a time, I was not sure if you had attempted to contact us and were unable to. As to my expectations, as there were times when no one aside from those men were cognizant and their intentions were plain, it was possible."

"We'll I've given you the information." Ai looked behind her. She didn't feel like she was being watched, but it was a large plane. And the occasional flight attendants who would walk by didn't help either.

Nakamori didn't have anything to do. The plane was making him nervous. He wasn't very fond of flying which was why he didn't really do it. He didn't have time or money to spend on flights but aside from that he just didn't like them. He never really liked trains either. Anything he wasn't behind the wheel of was something he tended to avoid unless he was forced. Kid had gotten him on a train and in the air before. Now his daughter was doing the same. He looked back and could see his daughter and her new... boyfriend—Kaito-kun was going to be only that for the time being—were asleep. Once they were in the air and the turbulence hit, Nakamori was put even more on edge. He couldn't tell how long it had been but when he looked around again a few more people had dropped off. He stared ahead of him, seeing that the kid was asleep too. He only wished he could pull off the same. Damn things that flew. They always had a way of bothering him.

Ran had seen Shinichi fall asleep and tried to stay up until he woke but soon faded off. She smiled, recalling being in London and then—as much of a shock as it was for it to be confirmed that Shinichi was Conan-kun—knowing how he really felt, and hoping for the day that Shinichi would be himself. Aoko-chan was so lucky. Kazuha too, but she'd wait for him.

Conan wasn't sure if it was the light but something woke him. He didn't know why he'd fallen asleep since he wasn't really tired. It didn't take much thought to realize they were in the air. When he got his eyes open, he turned and looked at Ran, seeing her sleeping in her seat and facing him. He blushed and shook off the feeling, looking at his watch. A little more than three hours had passed. At least it was something. He leaned back, attempting to go back to sleep. He kept glancing over at Ran though. Even at her dad's, it wasn't like he really slept so close to her. Trying to pretend he didn't notice her wasn't helping any.

It was a long flight. Ai had taken very few since the organization had kept her close. What was worse was she couldn't get the tension to leave her. Hakuba-kun seemed to have nodded off a while ago. She was sure Kudo-kun was asleep the last time she looked. How could they be so relaxed? In a heart-wrenching moment, Ai felt someone close to her. She didn't dare move, speak, or give any indication of what she felt. The feeling didn't go away. She brought her legs up onto the seat, trying to make herself less vulnerable. Go away, go away, go away. She wasn't able to breath right for more than ten minutes and only then did she look around, and slowly. What was that, or better, who was that? Where were they? She could feel her hands shake and went back to holding her legs in front of her.

Heiji heard his watch beeping and yawned. He glanced around and than at his watch. Time to wake up fer the surprise. He unbuckled and reached over the seat to tap Kuroba's arm a few times.

Kaito felt something very irritating and tried to move away from it. There wasn't anywhere to move though and it wouldn't stop. Shrugging, he tried to make it go away by showing he didn't want it near him. That didn't work either. Kaito growled, trying to blink his eyes open. "If you want that hand, you better back off."

Heiji snickered. "If ya wanna wake yer girl in time fer the sun, ya better do so." He backed off and turned to Kazuha. Now ta get ya ta wake up wi'out tryin' ta throw me.

Kaito yawned, looking over at Aoko. He smiled. It was still dark out. He'd wait until the time was just right, right when the sun was about to come up over the water.

Heiji peeked toward the other two and huffed. So much for seeing what might work. He leaned toward Kazuha and moved some hair out of her face. "Oi, Kazuha. Wake up."

Kazuha breathed in a breath. "Heiji." The name and feeling where there and gone in seconds and she wondered what a weird dream this was.

Well, he was still in one piece so far. "Kazuha. Come on." Heiji tried again, tucking the stupid strands of hair that had come loose back behind her ear.

Kazuha reached out her hand until she found Heiji, or what she thought was Heiji. It was his voice. Like the other nights, she leaned towards him, smiling at his touch.

Heiji looked at her hand in his and moved his to squeeze it slightly. "Kazuha, wake up already! Ya wanna miss it?"

"Miss what?" Kazuha asked tiredly. Something felt weird. Why was she sitting up and what was hitting her in the side and stopping her from laying next to Heiji? She opened her eyes, blinking a few times. She realized the brightness was the artificial light of the aircraft they were in. When had she fallen asleep? "Wha's goin' on?"

"Quiet down. Ya wanna wake the others?" Heiji put his fingers to her mouth. "Jus' look out the window." He leaned back and lifted the shutter, it was getting pretty light out now, though the only thing to see out the window was an endless expanse of water.

Kaito watched out through the window, getting ready. He needed a minute before the sun was up. When he thought his timing was good enough, he took out the cloth he'd handed Hattori to wake himself up. He wrapped his arm around Aoko's neck, putting the chemicals close to her face but not right in it so it wasn't as repelling. He kissed her on the cheek as he did so and held her close. "Wake up my sunlight princess."

Aoko sighed and smiled as she started to wake up, hearing Kaito's voice. She leaned against him as she blinked open her eyes. "Kaito?"

"The one and only." Kaito kissed the top of her head, the cloth vanishing. Moving his finger, he combed them into her hair. "I told you you'd see it. I'm sure the sunlight is more beautiful than the night could ever be. Look out the window."

Aoko started to yawn and turned to look out only to stop mid yawn and gasp. Nothing was there but water and, right before her eyes, she saw the sun start to appear as though it were coming out of the water itself. "Kaito, what? How?"

Kazuha had done as Heiji said and looked out the window. She had no idea where they were headed but all she could see was water. That didn't make sense... it was morning now and they were over water? The only explanation was they weren't in Japan. We're not in Japan! She put her hand on Heiji's knee and leaned closer to the window, trying to see if she could find land. She didn't see a thing and the sun on the horizon was coming up and making the water change bluish hues. "Heiji?" She turned and noticed her face was right in front of his and had to back to the side a little. "Whe're we?"

"Over the Pacific Ocean by the looks 'a it."

Kazuha stared at him wide-eyed. "Why're we over the ocean?"

"Maybe cause that's were the islands are located," Heiji said with a small shrug.

"Islands?" Kazuha stared at him but it was obvious Heiji was teasing her. She got out of her seatbelt that she didn't remember putting on, getting one knee on the chair so she could put her hands on Heiji's further leg and look out the window more. "Which Islands?" They weren't near Japan anymore. They would have landed ages ago if it was an island near the coast. She looked back at Heiji, her mind only going to once place since it was some of the islands that were talked about the most. "Yer kiddin'."

"'Bou' wha'?" Heiji tried to keep a straight face but smiled. "Guess ya figured it out on yer own so don' spoil it fer the ones tha' ain'."

Heiji's smile did it. "Oh. Really?" Kazuha turned where she was positioned and hugged him. "How the heck did ya guys do that? Here I thought you an' Kudo-kun were plannin' somethin' sneaky but this is amazin' Heiji!" She tried to keep her enthusiasm down but she was excited. She couldn't help it.

"Thought ya'd like it more as a surprise," Heiji whispered in her ear as he put his arms around her. How stupid had he been not to think to tell her and hold her sooner?

Kaito wanted to roll his eyes at the noise behind them. He'd let Aoko go so she could look out the window, knowing she'd never been on a plane before. He didn't want to speak and spoil anything more than the two behind them already were.

Aoko put her hand on the window. The blue of the sky and the water seemed to match the stone on her ring. Almost like Kaito had planned it that way. She turned to look at him, smiling and still in awe of what she'd seen.

Kaito smiled back, watching Aoko enjoy the sight just as much as he thought she would. His fearless, unbridled wildflower. She could be so amazing when she wasn't even trying. "Pretty, isn't it?"

Aoko reached out and grabbed his arm, holding it to herself as she leaned against him and looked back to the window and the view. "It's amazing."

"It gets even more amazing. Just wait for it. We don't have any cloud cover right now, but we might later." Kaito leaned his head on her, watching something more precious to him than the view. "And even after that it gets better."

Aoko shook her head slightly. Sitting beside Kaito, with the beautiful ring on her finger and a breathtaking view was... "How could it get better than this?"

"It can always get better." Kaito ran his fingers down the side of her face. "Always. That's what makes life so amazing and I am an amazing person... and so are you. Things like this will just be one of many."

Aoko turned her head slightly, not moving her gaze from the window, and kissed his fingers as they passed by. The sun was all the way up, and the sky and the water were shifting in the window as the line between the two moved and tipped bit.

Conan looked over as Ran finally started to stir. He'd heard some of the others wake up a while ago but was afraid if he spoke to any of them that it might wake her up. He smiled to her. "For once you're the late riser."

Ran heard Shinichi talk to her and shook her head. No way. She was still a bit tired and the flight was supposed to be over seven hours anyway. "It can't be that late."

"It's not. You just slept longer than everyone else. The sun's been up for a while now." Conan stretched, moving now that it was safe to. "You can go back to sleep. It's not like we're almost there yet."

Ran nodded against the seat and sighed. If he was still next to her, she could sleep again. "Okay."

Conan smiled and looked up at her. Ran was looking at him again and the way she spoke when she was tired made her voice so... so something. His cheeks colored.

Stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it. Ai could feel it. The fear would come in waves. Twice now. She had missed something. There was no one around them the second time she had felt it. Where were they? They were being watched. They might be killed. She didn't like it. If Ai could have held herself closer, she would have. She was so tired. Kudo-kun was so stupid, Hakuba-kun was more than twice the fool, and that woman who was so familiar for some reason took the cake. She'd jump if she had to. She knew that. She wasn't going to let that woman get her if it was her presence she was feeling. She'd rather fall.

Kazuha had gone back to her seat after she'd hugged Heiji, feeling herself blush. But Heiji was being a jerk. She couldn't see out the window well and she had to keep leaning over him to look. The scenery was pretty and she enjoyed just looking at it for something to do. Heiji being so close to her... that just was nice and warm to go along with it.

Eri blinked her eyes open before stretching. She wasn't used to sleeping on planes, though she'd done it before. The seat next to her was vacant, though she could see her husband across from her, sleeping like a rhinoceros. She pushed her glasses up on her face and settled on looking out the window, hoping this trip would give the children some time to not have to worry about killers and rapists.

"This is your captain speaking. We will now begin our descent. We are looking at an on time arrival. We have clear skies and higher winds so we will be experiencing slight turbulence. Please fasten your seats and remain seated until the fasten seatbelt light goes off. Enjoy your stay in Honolulu."

Aoko looked at Kaito when the announcement was spoken in English as well as Japanese, and she couldn't believe her ears. "Honolulu? Like Hawaii? Really?"

"Really, really," Kaito said with amusement, cat-like smile. "Not my money or my idea, but we were invited along for the ride."

Aoko didn't care. "You're right. It did get better." She leaned over, hugging him as best she could and blushing when she realized she'd been beaten. He was right. He wasn't sleeping in the car or the doctor's house.

"I'll be even better tonight. Me. You. The beach." Kaito whispered into her ear, his grin more predatory. "You lacking some articles of clothing. Maybe all of them before the night is over."

Aoko blushed and buried her face in his neck. "You are a real sneak," she whispered but she couldn't help but wonder what it was going to be like. A beach in a different country. Hawaii no less. The stories and songs made it one of the most romantic places and now, she and Kaito could share it together.

"The sneaky are the ones that win bets," Kaito said with a laugh. She was actually tickling him a little. He liked it. "I didn't ask when we'd be leaving. I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to be alone together."

Aoko sighed and giggled against him, only backing off a bit and holding his arm when the plane started to land and she could look out to see them coming in. Holding his arm, she could almost link this to the jump from the roof and knew she'd be fine.

Kaito had to admit she had a good grip. The heart-dropping feel the plane would experience every now and then made her fingers even tighter. It was cute. The plane touching down and the thrusters reversing made her tightened her hold again. First time flyer. He wished he could tell her he'd flown a plane once, kind of, just to see her expression.

Nakamori was jostled awake when the plane bounced off the ground for a second. He had his hand tight on the armrest before he was certain that they weren't all about to crash and die a horrible death. Damn it, he hated flying.

Saguru felt the plane touch down and begin to taxi to the terminal. It was certainly strange to experience it without sight, though it was not his first landing by this point. He heard the others talking or, by the sound of it, grumbling in Mouri-san's case. Once the announcement came after he felt the plane stop, he unbuckled his seatbelt and started to rise.

Ran watched everything out of the window until the plane stopped. She quickly unbuckled her seatbelt and looked beside her as Kuroba-san slipped past.

Asano looked beside him at the inspector and shook his head. He'd flown a few times but this was his longest flight yet. He stood when he saw Kuroba-kun doing the same. He was grateful nothing had come up and until the inspector had got himself set, he was stuck there.

Nakamori stood up. He had to move. Sitting down so long had left his muscles stiff. Seeing the kid in front of him try to get up too, he reached over the seat to grab his shirt. "Don't go anywhere just yet kid. We have to wait for the others to get off first."

Saguru nodded. "I am aware of that." It was not as though he could pass the girl next to him. He had simply needed to stand. While the flight had been scheduled for 7 hours 25 minutes from take off, it was now late morning on Saturday rather than early morning Sunday. It would take a day to adjust to the time difference. For those here that were new to such travel, it would take awhile for their bodies to adjust because of the jetlag. He heard additional footsteps coming toward them and turned his head.

Chikage stepped next to Ginzo-kun and smiled at his reaction. She went to move toward Saguru and noticed the huddled form on the chair next to him. She crouched down and reached out to touch her. "What's the matter?" She wasn't a true little girl that was scared of planes. This was something more.

Ai heard voices and her brain automatically clicked into place. "Stay away from me." She couldn't get any closer to the seat. She knew that voice. From the moment the feelings had hit, she knew she wouldn't be getting off the plane with them. "You brought death with you."

"We landed. We're fine." What does she know? Did she see something while we were asleep? Chikage glanced up at Ginzo-kun. "Conan-kun is a friend of hers. Could you get him?"

Nakamori was about to go over and get the boy because as he looked over the seats he noticed the girl looked sick. Conan-kun went right past him though. Hell, kid can hear better than I can and he's got bandages to deal with.

Conan had heard Haibara when she had spoken. It had got him concerned and any fascination with looking out the window, or observing Ran or the others disappeared. He got out of his seat, going over to Haibara and seeing her embarrassingingly looking scared someone would see her if she sat normally. There was only one thing that could break her normally cold, distant act this way. His eyes narrowed as he spoke to her. "Haibara, what is it? Are they here?" He looked around but all saw was the people who were his friends and family.

"Close," Ai said, looking over and meeting Kudo-kun's glance. "I think they're roaming around. It doesn't feel like it did before. Not right now. You shouldn't get involved with these people." She didn't mind that the woman was still right there. The passangers were disembarking and she had nowhere else to go. She wanted to stay right there. "You're putting us and those you care about in more danger. You just brought it along. What kind of vacation can this be when they are nearby? I thought I told you before." She held up her finger like a gun to his head. "The minute you tell anyone about yourself, you're going to get us killed. I am not getting off this plane and going to watch that happen. If I had to… to protect myself, I'd let you die."

"Haibara." Conan was speechless for a moment before he reached out and touched her hand. "Calm down. You said they were close. If we're not being watched, then I doubt they plan to kill us when we get off the plane. They have no advantage here or against us. Whatever they're planning, we'll meet it. If we do find one of them, I'll take care of it. This might just be the best vacation ever then."

Ai couldn't understand how he was so optimistic about this. They could all die any second. These people had brought the crows even closer than they had been before, and even then it had been too close for comfort. One of them was even an outright liability. "You're an idiot." Ai shoved off his hand. She was admittedly feeling better though. She let her legs down, feeling them cramp from having put them in an awkward position for too long, and then she undid her seatbelt. "If I die, I'm blaming you."

"Fine." Conan took his hand back but he didn't stray far from Haibara's seat. He wanted to be with Ran, but right now this was important too.

Chikage looked at Saguru. He did not seem to react, though his breathing was slightly different and he seemed to be looking off to the side. She hoped he wasn't thinking of Sharon, despite the fact that her own thoughts had gone to her as well.

Conan took her hand, hoping Ran would understand. Haibara hadn't been too loud but those around them had likely heard some of her fears. That could be a good thing. If one or more of them had come, he may be able to find them more easily than his earlier attempts to get Gin. He had to be more careful now, because he was with Ran, and her father whom had been suspected before because of him.

Ai looked over at Kudo-kun and let out a breath of resignation. "Do you always have to look so eager?"

Conan turned back to her. "I'm not all that eager. This is an opportunity though and I don't want to pass it up."

"Yes, a splendid opportunity," Ai spoke sarcastically. She was amazed that he was still alive today. She looked over, making sure no one was coming back this way. The stewardess, who Ai didn't trust on implications alone, was pretty much done setting up the bridge. Ai wasn't going to stay here longer than she had to if she was getting off and was grateful she'd picked a seat in the front. She wouldn't be staying anywhere they were.

Aoko wasn't sure what was going on further up but Kuroba-kun, the doctor and her dad were all standing but weren't moving yet. She just held Kaito's arm, not able to stop smiling.

Kaito was interested in what his mom was talking about. He'd caught some of it before, when they were sitting closer, and had a guess. His hearing was pretty good but he couldn't make sense of the things he did catch. That, or they were a repeat of what he'd already heard. As for Aoko, he smiled down at her. "First thing you do when we get there is give me my prize." He kissed her on the cheek. "I guess you can shower if you want too, but remember, no replacing them. You promised."

Aoko blushed. She thought of the sundress Obasan had bought and realized it was the only change of clothes she had. Maybe a swimsuit will work... but how can I buy one without one to wear with the dress? She didn't trust herself to say anything with the others now standing up and starting to move past them.

Kaito grinned, putting his cheek against Aoko's warmer one. "I'm not that much of a pervert. Hopefully. It was your deal." He got up, taking Aoko's hand in his after their section could get up. He smiled to Mouri, going before him. He wanted some distance between Aoko's dad so that he could sneak a kiss when they got off.

"I'm never betting against you again. All your mom got me to change into is a sundress," Aoko whispered more to herself as they headed toward the exit.

Kaito laughed to himself. "Sorry I missed that." He raised his eyebrows, his grin showing what he spoke was only truth. "I can go in there with you next time. As for betting against me, that's an automatic loss. You should know that." Once they started off the plane and to the gate after there was enough room, Kaito looped his arm around Aoko's waist, still holding her closer.

"With how tired you were I thought I had a chance. You've tried to fight it for awhile but you fell asleep anyway." Aoko could already tell that her slacks were not going to be worn until they got back to Japan. It was so warm already there was no way she'd wear them here. "I will need some clothes unless my dad grabbed some." Especially a swimsuit. I kinda needed a new one anyway but no way did I think I'd need it already.

"Who says you need any clothes? I like it better when you're not wearing them." Kaito lifted her shirt a little where his hand was in front of her stomach and touched her skin. "I don't care if the world were to end. I do get you tonight, even if you're tired."

Aoko turned closer to him and saw a couple people coming forward with what looked like long, colorful, floral necklaces, draping them over the heads of anyone getting off while saying something to them that she didn't understand. "Kaito. What's 'a low ah'?"

Kaito had to figure that they would understand English better than Japanese. "Thank you," Kaito said in his best English to the lady that had put a red flowery necklace thing around his neck. He knew what it was, he just forgot the word for it. "They're welcoming us," Kaito spoke to Aoko in Japanese. He smiled, his eyes on her and her pink necklace. "Just smile. It's universal."

Aoko smiled and nodded to the person who returned it before moving past them to the others.

Heiji eyed the people that stepped up to them, namely the guy holding out a bright yellow thing to put over Kazuha's head. The woman who looped a dark green one over his head looked at his hair with a smile as she greeted them. "Thank you," he said, holding Kazuha's hand and starting past to follow the others.

Kazuha smiled, her fingers playing with the necklace. Man, even in Osaka they didn't hand out things like that at the airports. That was really nice. She smiled and nodded at the tan man in front of her before Heiji pulled her away. It wasn't until just then that, as much of a paradise this was going to be—if only because Heiji was here with her, without their parents—there was going to be a troublesome language barrier.

With the awkwardness of the image he and Haibara were giving off, when Conan got off of the plane he wanted his hand back. If anything, he wanted to keep his balance going down the steps too. Instead, when Haibara walked off, Ran came and grabbed his hand. Okay… he didn't mind so much anymore. He smiled at the woman, just a little bit older than Ran, who put the lei around his neck. "Mahalo." It had been a while. He forgot how much he had liked Hawaii. Ran hadn't gotten to go with him the first time.

Ran smiled and tipped her head to accept the light blue... whatever it was, holding tighter to Shinichi's hand. She had no idea what he'd just said to them and hoped that it wasn't rude not to say anything.

Conan looked up, taking his own lei off. "Hiki kaua ki'i 'ula'ula?" He smiled at Ran. She wouldn't know to ask and, maybe, it would make this a better first experience.

Ran looked down then up as the two people looked at each other and nodded. Seeing them take two bright red ones and place them over their heads, she smiled. Red. Ran looked down at it, touching it lightly with her free hand as she gave his hand a light squeeze with the other. May as well try to say this right. "'Sank'yuu."

Conan smiled, his eyes closing a little. He was happy that Ran was happy. Hearing his mom talking quietly behind his back to Kid's mom, he looked forward and kept going.

Chikage thought the deep purple lei Saguru-kun had accepted was nice and glanced behind them as she guided him. Ginzo had the bags with the clothes she'd bought them. She couldn't help the smile when she saw the lady had given Ginzo a pure white lei. Stopping by the restrooms, she eyed the others, knowing a few would want to change.

Yusaku went up to Nakamori-keibu and relieved him of some of the bags with the clothes for the male members of their group. "If anyone wants to change, the weather is very different here and you will probably be hot if you stay in the clothes you are in now."

Heiji walked over, thankful for the chance to change. He looked over at Kuroba's mom and was glad she'd convinced all of them to get clothes 'for the warmer weather coming'. It had been getting warmer already so the shorts would be a relief.

Aoko nodded and turned slightly to face Kaito. "You get it at the house... like you said."

Kaito kissed Aoko on the cheek. "Fine. House, but right when we get there then." He smiled and messed up her hair. "You're on vacation, in Hawaii. Where's that excitement I was expecting?" He turned, dancing away a few steps backwards to his mom. He grabbed his brother. "As for you, I'm picking your wardrobe."

Chikage smiled. "Check the bags. There's a some clothes to choose from," she said with a wink. She let Kaito take Saguru-kun and took the remaining bags from Ginzo. Aoko-chan had already started over so she glanced at Kazuha-chan. "It would be better than slacks."

Kazuha nodded, looking over at Heiji. "Ya better not get kidnapped when I'm gone. Ya tend ta do that." She walked away before he could get a word in, smiling at Kuroba-obasan. "Thanks. Shorts would be nice."

Aoko followed Obasan in and took the bag with the sundress into a stall. She put her old clothes in it once she was done changing. Well, at least it still looks alright, she thought as she looked in the mirror, waiting for the others.

Conan went with his dad, looking at Ran and Haibara who hadn't left his side. She'd have to for this. "Ah, you can't come in."

"I don't see why not." Ai looked at him. If Kudo-kun was going to be putting them all in danger for his own benefit, she'd rather have him in her sight. "It's not as if you'll all be naked and I'm a scientist. You wouldn't have anything to be embarrassed about that I haven't already seen."

Conan blushed, hard. "Haibara! It's just not right!" He started walking away with her still following him. "Come on. Stop it."

"Why?" Ai asked with a smile and raised eyebrow. "Embarrassed about something?"

"Forget it." Conan couldn't see himself winning this and Ai technically looked young enough to go into the bathroom of whatever 'parent' she was with, so no one would argue about it. He could feel her following him when he walked in. He was going to change in a stall now. He had to guess Hattori would grab one too if he wasn't already indecent before she came in.

Heiji glanced over as Kudo walked in before he saw who came in with him and Heiji hopped into the stall nearby and slammed the door. "Wha' da ya think ya doin'? She ain' suppose ta be in here."

"Tell her that," Conan muttered, going into the next stall over and locking the door. "Since when does she ever listen to me?"

"I'm not a dog and it's not as if you're naked." Ai looked at the two closed doors in front of her as she stood away from the wall, not risking how dirty the men's bathroom could be. "Are you both really that self-conscious? I can't see through your underwear you know."

Heiji didn't bother answering as he finished getting changed and shoved the clothes in the bag. The issue wasn't so much that, rather the who. She just unnerved him to begin with and her little stunt at the hospital... Heiji put a hand to his side. It hadn't hurt much in a few days but he wasn't about to give her the chance to try to give another lesson.

Ai watched Hattori-kun leave after only a minute or so. Her eyes were on him, though he averted his own gaze. Her eyes went to the more mysterious of the people she was familiar with as she chuckled darkly at the Osakan's fast exit. Considering he wasn't in a stall she had to assume modesty on his part wasn't an issue.

Kaito couldn't help laughing at Hattori as he left. He looked down at the girl who had, in no short order, insulted him the first and only time he really met her. Of course though, that had been Kid. He smiled at her before his hand tightened on Saguru's and he turned so they were facing each other. "There is no way I'm standing next to a toilet. Take your shirt off."

Saguru held up his hand. "Not a chance. I heard her here and based on Hattori's words there is no way I would out in the open. Pass me a change of clothes and I can do so myself."

"Just take your shirt off." Kaito grabbed his jacket. As much as his brother liked it, he had to get it off so he could change his clothes. "Come on. You can have this back once you do if you're that embarrassed. I should hide your boxers."

"It is the principle of the thing. I can wait for a stall." Saguru tried, though he allowed his jacket to be removed. Neither her true age nor apparent age mattered; it was highly improper to simply change with a female present.

"I will make you change," Kaito said with a grin. "I told you, I'm not going next to the toilet and if you don't stop fighting you're going to have all the girls wondering what we're up in here that's taking so long."

"You do not need to. I can handle it myself."

Kaito put the jacket over his shoulder and grabbed the front of his brother's shirt. "Listen genius. Seeing you with you're shirt off is something girls usually like. We're going to be swimming. If you can't take it off in front of her then I guess both of us will be sitting in the house while we're here. Do you want that?"

"Going swimming is not the same as this." Clearly he had no concept of the difference between getting changed and going swimming and from the sound of it, Kaito-kun would not grasp the concept even if he gave him the time to explain it. Saguru exhaled and looked off to the side, hoping she was at least looking elsewhere as started to remove his shirt.

Kaito smiled, taking the shirt from him. He wasn't going to tell him the girl hadn't stopped looking at him since Hattori had left. He handed him a light blue shirt with clouds dyed on it. It wasn't awful but it was bright and he'd never seen Saguru in that kind of shirt before. At least it wouldn't give him a heart attack. "Here. You can put it on."

Saguru pulled the shirt on and closed his eyes. Why did she have to be in here? She is as old as us and does not have any reason to be in here.

Kaito made sure he had his arms down before tossing the jacket over his shoulders. "You're going to have to take that off. This one really isn't important enough to die of heatstroke for." Kaito took the bag, finding a pair of light blue shorts that were just a bit darker to go with the top. "I can't really do it, but if bothers you so much I can help you tie the coat around your waist."

"Just let me know if she looks over here." Saguru said, resigned to it.

"'Kay." Kaito agreed but then again, Saguru had said he'd trust him to know when to tell him things. This little white lie didn't count. He took one of the sleeves down to help his brother tie it.

Saguru slipped his shoes off so he could remove his pants and quickly get the shorts handed to him and on. He was surprised when Kaito-kun offered the jacket to him. Is she looking around now or is this merely a precaution?

If you two don't hurry up I'm coming out too, Conan thought as he leaned against the bathroom stall. He'd finished a while ago but he figured it was better to not interrupt Kid causing whatever extra pains for the other teen. The only problem was he was stuck in the bathroom stall now and he didn't want to be.

Saguru took the jacket and tied it as soon as he had undone his slacks. He could not have been more embarrassed at this moment. Why could he not have just taken the clothes into a stall? It would have been much simpler. He pulled the pants free and held his hand out for the forthcoming shorts.

"Here," Kaito said with a smile in his voice as he noticed how embarrassed his brother was becoming. "Plaid. Nice. At least they're not polka-dot like mine are."

Saguru shook his head. "I will not complain about that."He pulled the shorts on, then untied the jacket's sleeves, draping it over his arm, and then finally crouched to get his shoes back on and retrieve his clothes.

"Here." Kaito put his hand against the wall so his brother wouldn't have trouble getting his shoes on. "Sit down if you have to. It's the airport. I'm sure they keep it clean. I have to change too." He slipped off his shirt, putting on a white one with red flowers on it—a button-up. He would have had Saguru wear it if it wasn't. He might've thought he was wearing something formal otherwise and Kaito wanted him to know he wasn't.

Saguru stood once his shoes were on and he had gathered his discarded clothes. With the others just outside and the girl still here he debated on simply making his way to the exit and rejoining the group at large.

"Just a sec." Kaito had to get on the white shorts to go with the shirt, after which he checked himself out in the mirror. He looked at his brother and put a hand under his chin. "Something's mis-" Oh. Kaito bent down with a smile and put his lei back over his head when it had come off while he was changing. He turned back to Saguru and looked at him, slightly wide-eyed. "Oops… Okay, this is unintentional now because I really did forget. You can get sunglasses later." With a flick of his wrist he had his top hat in his hand. "Man is this gonna look... pft. Funny."

Saguru felt the hat land on his head and turned toward the voice. "It can be hoped that less people here are familiar with this than in Japan."

"Unfortunately it's worldwide. Cause of my dad, you know? He mostly went to Europe though. Hopefully here they don't care. " Kaito kind of wished he had a camera. He likely wasn't going to willingly get his brother to wear something like that again. He took his hand. "Let's go."

"How dangerous was your life before now?" Ai spoke up. "From the way you had spoken with me earlier, I had assumed that you and danger in the same place was something uncommon, considering your, to put it mildly, weaker demeanor. Looking at you now, I can see more than one scar on your body, from wounds that were relatively serious, that most teenage boys would not carry, regardless of their career. You had promised me then to give me a straight fowward answer. Considering that you must know that danger is following in your footsteps, I would like to know what else to be beware of in your presence."

Saguru was not sure if it was the fact that she had seen, that she had asked in that way, or that Kaito-kun had clearly not said or noticed that she had looked his way, but he closed his eyes and turned toward her voice. "My mother was killed in a car accident in England and I was seated beside her. My birth father was having someone cause me to have "accidents" for some reason or another that, now that he is dead after trying to kill me himself, I will never know. Does that satisfy you?"

Ai stared at the person for a few seconds, closing her eyes when she spoke. "I would say your life had been nothing but tragedy. I would, but in reality, it could be so much worse. I hadn't intended to speak so harshly though. I know how hard a toll the death of even a single loved one can be. Be grateful for having the ones in front of you while you can."

"Haibara." Conan got out of the stall and grabbed her arm. "Enough." He looked at Kid and K2, dragging her forcefully out of the bathroom now. "Sorry about that. She only half meant that."

Kaito was... surprised was a good word. He hadn't really known what to say. Until Tantei-kun left with her, he didn't realize how tense he had been. He let out a breath. "I'm sorry." Looking up at his brother, he could see that the girl's words had really bothered him. "I didn't know she was going to be like that. We can wait if you want."

Saguru nodded, taking a few deep breaths. "I should not have snapped like that." He tried to calm himself and raised a hand slightly to seek out, by his count, the only person still there.

Kaito went forward, grabbing his hand. He pulled him close so that it felt more personal. "You're upset still. No one blames you for that. She was a piece of work herself. Please, don't listen to her. You need me, I'm here— Aoko or not. If you're still upset, you can be."

Saguru let his head bow forward as he closed his eyes, fighting to maintain his compsure. He would not ruin this trip for the others. "I will be fine."

"'Course you will. You're my brother." Kaito let out a breath of air. "It's really not good to always be mad at yourself or whatever. Holding in anger and stress only weakens you. Trust me. I may not look it, but there were times when I was an idiot like that too." He smiled. "Then I found you."

Saguru opened his eyes and raised his head up. He had not expected to hear him say something like that. He shook his head and felt a small smile form. "When did the roles get reversed?"

Kaito grew a little more serious, his hand tightening on his brother's. "That day you stopped me from running away. You changed so much without knowing it. You stopped me from being that same idiot I had been for too long now. I'm just trying to show you the same. Don't hide it or run away. You have family and friends, just as much as I do, and I'm not letting go either."

Saguru looked down at where he knew their hands were connected. "I suppose we have all changed a great deal, especially of late." He raised his head slightly and smiled a little. "How many teachers and classmates will be in shock once we return?"

"All of them." Kaito looked over, seeing his brother try and look at him even though he couldn't. "I wouldn't have it any other way. You're still, in a way, my rival. I don't plan on anything besides your name and our little nighttime games to change."

Saguru nodded at that. "I guess it is time we joined the others." He swiped a hand across his face just in case.

"Not yet," Kaito said with a smile. "You're still upset. They can wait a few minutes. Don't worry about it."

Ai clung to Kudo-kun. She was vaguely aware that, by doing so, he couldn't be close to the person most precious to him. That didn't stop the fear that was eating at her. They were close. Whoever, or however how many, followed them weren't on the plane anymore and they were somewhere nearby.

Conan looked around after he noticed Haibara start to get uneasy. He couldn't see anyone that could be them and he couldn't do more than look since her fear was keeping him all but nailed to the spot they were at. That didn't keep him from trying to spot any irregularities in the looks or behavior of the people walking past them—anyone who was suspicious.

Ran saw him come back out with Ai-chan and the girl seemed to freeze. She didn't know what scared her, but she started over and knelt down beside her. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Ai stared up at that girl. Had Ai not seen the girl risk her life for her without question she would have just brushed her off. Even now, she could just barely meet her eyes. She just shook her head and held tight to Kudo-kun. They were so close. He was such an idiot. They all were.

Conan realized that he hadn't exactly told Haibara that he'd spoken to Ran. At all. About any of the organization or himself. He'd only told her about the police officers. There wasn't any way he could clue Ran into any of this with Haibara having a reason to act rashly. She'd catch any expression he made, so he wasn't going to risk it. Worse, it worked both ways. He hadn't had a chance to tell Ran about Haibara.

Ran was worried. Ai-chan looked scared holding on to him. They had just traveled to Hawaii, maybe it was hitting her that they weren't in Japan anymore. "We're all here, you'll be fine." She smiled at her and gently patted her shoulder.

Ai didn't like the contact but she didn't brush it away. Things like this she had to be tolerable of, especially if they were being watched.

Conan could feel the tension and he thought that Haibara still did not really like Ran. He didn't know what she had against her. Being treated like a child though was something she hated anyway. There was still no way of telling Ran that.

Ran wished she could do something to cheer up the younger girl but she wasn't sure what. She looked over at Shinichi, knowing if anyone could help her, he could.

Kaito led his brother out, seeing that as he had thought, the others were already all out. "Sorry about that. I had to use the bathroom." He looked back at Aoko. He hadn't caught more than a glimpse of her but he noticed now that someone got his crazy, tom-boy Aoko into a dress. That was something only he had done before and, looking at her now, he forgot about helping his brother for a second. Oh right, she had said mom had bought it, hadn't she?

Aoko turned when she heard Kaito, knowing he wouldn't let Kuroba-kun leave without him. It explained why neither were out yet. She saw him looking right at her and glanced down. The sundress was a pretty color, not to mention it actually fit her, and of course Obasan had insisted she wear it. She looked back up at him and shrugged, hoping he liked it.

Kaito snapped out of it enough to walk with his brother over to their mom. "I'm not ditching you and I meant what I said but… I'll be right back." He went over to Aoko, putting his forehead against hers. "Since when does anyone but me get you into a dress?"

Aoko blushed. "Your mom said it'd look nice on me." She didn't want to bring up the outfit she'd worn to leave the hospital. She met his eyes briefly. "Do you think so?"

"I think you're prettier than anything you could be wearing, but yes," Kaito moved his head up and kissed her on the forehead. "It does look good on you."

Aoko smiled with a small, quick sigh of relief. "Good."

Kaito reached down and grabbed her hand. "Mom's got my brother. Let's go see the world, or at least, this little part of it."

Aoko looked over. She did still have Kaito's phone from before but she had no idea where they were staying or if it was close enough to reach. She didn't have much money and she had no idea how to exchange it for local currency. "How do we find the right hotel later?"

"We'll call. It's easy. Come on. Where's that exploratory spirit of yours? I haven't lost mine." Kaito grinned, his hand going up to brush her cheek. "Besides, I can't do anything I'd really want to do with your dad around."

Aoko smiled and put a hand over his, her excitement to look around the place with Kaito restored, knowing he wasn't worried. "Then lead the way."

Kaito looked over at his mom, grinning as he tipped his head sideways. He didn't wait for the others as he took Aoko and raced to get outside and to the beach—if he could find out where it was.

Aoko held tight to Kaito's hand as they ran away from the airport, not wanting to lose him when she couldn't speak English well.

Conan leveled his eyes as Kid took off. That wasn't really necessary. They were all leaving anyway. He looked over at Haibara. "If you see anyone, don't worry about it." He could more than handle himself. There wasn't any reason for one of Them to be interested in him right now so he could get around easier unless it was someone he was already familiar with, and that was a short list. When he tried to walk he found Haibara still clinging to him. He could take care of the situation but how was Haibara holding onto him going to help?

Saguru felt a tug and followed along, hearing the others moving as well. He was feeling better and he had to admit, the girl had a point in saying he should be grateful for those around him.

Yusaku went to baggage claim, the rest of the group following behind, and they picked up two of their bags. "All right. There should be plenty of taxi's outside. We have a nice place right by the ocean but no one is going in without a suit. For those that need them we'll take a quick trip into town before anything else and, while we're changing, order some food so that we can eat later and no one has to cook." It couldn't have been more than a year since he and his wife and son were here.

Ran glanced at Ai-chan every now and then, but when they stepped outside she couldn't help looking around at everything. London had been amazing, as had New York, but Hawaii seemed to be a place of its own. There were palm trees and plants she didn't recognize, not to mention the clothes that people wore were unique and brightly colored like the flower necklaces they had gotten as they disembarked the plane.

Kazuha held Heiji's hand, just as a reason to keep close. There were so many different things and different people that she couldn't help smiling and looking around. She hadn't thought that shorts and a t-shirt was the best outfit to wear when going out to a new place, but it was a lot hotter than she thought it was going to be. There were a lot of people walking around wearing even less than she was, as well.

Nakamori had seen his daughter run off but to heck with it. He was through trying to control the kid and, for once, he didn't really see why he should stop him. Going outside, all he was did was wish that there was some cloud cover and more buildings for some shade. "Out of his element" didn't even begin to describe it. However, he had to appreciate different culture, seeing the setting around him.

Eri had slowed down so that she could follow Yukiko. She wasn't familiar with the language or the people here and her friend could provide assistance if she were to run into any troubling situation. So she stuck close to her, trying to ignore her husband gawking at all the islanders; most of those his eyes lingered on were of the female variety.

Chikage smiled, tapping Ginzo-kun's arm. "You should get a change of clothes too. You stick out and that will not be hard with this weather." She tipped her head at Saguru. She was glad Kaito had made sure he'd changed too but it was a good example to convince the inspector so he could relax.

"I can put something on when we get to wherever the hell we're going. It doesn't really bother me." Nakamori looked over at Chikage. "It's not that big a deal."

"You'll still want to be comfortable," Chikage said with a smile and a shrug as they reached the taxi stand.

Yusaku went to the edge of the curb and stopped. "Okay. We'll wait a few minutes while you all get taxis as well. Direct them to follow this one. If you become lost, call me. If anyone doesn't have a phone on them, which most of you should already have, make sure you're with someone who does." Yusaku looked over at his wife. Considering that his son was obviously going to have two traveling companions he couldn't shake, they could be in the first taxi. Yukiko would have to find some other means of travel or they wouldn't fit unless Shinichi-kun rode on Ran-chan's lap. He wasn't going to have any attempts at ruining anything for the moment in his presence. "Conan-kun, Ai-chan, and Ran-chan. You three come with me. The rest of you should have my number or Yukiko's so feel free to call either of us in any type of an emergency or for any type of situation regarding our location should you need to."

Ran looked down at the two of them before nodding. She peeked over at her parents to see that her mom was avoiding her dad and he was... Tousaaaan. She rolled her eyes but it wasn't like he was running over to the locals yet.

Conan sighed and looked over at Ran. He smiled before going with his dad and getting in one of the taxis while the others tried to get in ones close by. Haibara had stopped acting weird when they were in their own cab and surrounded by adequate protection, away from prying eyes, but she hadn't let go of him once they were inside. His dad got some bag of his in the trunk with the help of the taxi driver while they were situating themselves. The only problem with that was that Haibara put herself between them. "Haibara, what are you doing? I thought you didn't even really like Ran."

"I don't need to watch your feeble and more obvious attempts of being intimate with her while I have to suffer through it. It's bad enough that we're being pursued by them because you've made another dangerous acquaintance."

Conan let out a little sarcastic little laugh. As if he'd do that with her in the car, mostly because he didn't know how curious Ran would be. It sounded like she was comparing him to Occhan.

Yusaku got in the front of the car along with their cab driver and looked out the back window. After a few minutes he checked his watch and they pulled out, heading for their abode. It was a shame Shinichi wouldn't be able to accompany them to some of the places that he wanted to visit, but he wasn't short on company if he did seek it.

Yukiko climbed in the front seat of another taxi while Heiji, Kazuha, and Eri got in the back. When they took off she looked back at the others who were busy looking out the window. She was so happy to play tour guide... too bad she wasn't driving. She scanned ahead and smiled. "Oh, there's a great place for shopping, they always have the best swimsuits. Over there. That place makes the best poi on the island, and the drinks are excellent. Oh we have to have a girls night there with Chikage-chan. The traditional fire dances are incredible," she said with a wave of her hand at Eri-chan. "Oh, you two should take that tour. It takes you out to a bluff overlooking the ocean and then at sunset it's very romantic." She winked at the two teens, seeing them both color. "Oh, that place would be great to stop by and you are all going to have to eat there. It's buffet style but everything is great and all local and always fresh… I mean fresh. The fish is caught and scooped out right in front of you. Oh that is just delish."

Eri was listening to the incisive rambling. It was informative, to say the least, but it wasn't as if the world were ending if Yukiko didn't say absolutely everything that crossed her mind. While the apparel and lively activity of the locals was catching her interest, she didn't think this would feel like a real vacation until she was allowed a chance to relax—somewhere away from all the noise.

Kazuha was caught in the middle so she had to keep looking out Heiji's window since she didn't know Ran-chan's mother that well. The lady who had gotten them that hotel room a while back was explaining things extensively though. When she mentioned the word 'romantic' she backed a little away from Heiji, at least making sure she wasn't touching him to lean over and look out.

Heiji had been looking around with interest until he caught the implication and felt Kazuha shift. He kept his gaze on the window and tried to pretend Kudo's mom had not just announced that location to them. He was really glad when they reached a wide stretch of road with no more stores or places to go touring until she pointed out another 'romantic' place. Kudo, I ain' ever sharin' a cab wi' yer mom again. If I do, I swear, yer comin' too.

Eri was grateful when they arrived. She had a few guesses about what to expect, but a house literally on the waterfront that was three stories high was beyond her expectations. It had a large front porch, complete with patio set and chairs, overlooking the ocean, and even had a second balcony. "You and Yusaku-kun don't believe in modesty much, do you?" she asked when her girly friend was near enough to her.

Yukiko smiled. "We need room for guests when we have them, not to mention this was the place with the best view, so we just couldn't pass it up. Oh it's breathtaking, just wait and see."

"It'll have to wait. I'll let you give me the tour in a few hours. My stomach is a little upset." The plane ride was far too long and Eri felt in need of a bath. "Don't let me hold you and the kids up though. Let me in and I can accommodate myself."

"If you're feeling sick, the bathroom is on the second floor to the left. And it even looks out over the water. Open the window and the sound is very soothing." She turned to the teens. "How 'bout it? Tour?"

Kazuha winced. The lady spoke in some mutilation of her own dialect of Japanese. How could Ran-chan not be insulted when people did that? She thought about a tour though and nodded. "How're we supposed ta talk ta people here though? They speak English here, right?" She knew basic English, enough to get herself by.

Heiji rolled his eyes and looked at Kazuha, the thought of food sounded better and he knew English well enough anyway. "Yeah they speak English here. So ya talk to them in English or ask one a us ta translate." He glanced over at the house and the others getting out of the cabs. "I think I'll hang out here fer a bit. They said we'd be gettin' food an' it's been hours since we ate."

Kazuha looked over at Heiji. "Translate fer me? There's no way ya can speak their language and I can speak English well enough, thanks." That had felt like he was implying that she couldn't take care of herself.

Heiji shrugged and grinned. "If you want to go off on the tour, go. I'm eating first." And not goin' wi' Kudo's mom.

Kazuha glared at Heiji. She hadn't caught one of those words but she'd gotten the gist. "Fine. I will." She needed to get a bathing suit and some sandals if they were going to be on the oceanfront. That meant she was going with this lady's husband so she was already heading out. Might as well get a tour while they were at it.

Yukiko smiled and clapped her hands. "Great. We can ask Ran-chan and Chikage-chan and make it a girls' shopping trip. Too bad Eri-chan can't join, but it'll be loads of fun."

Kazuha cheered up at that. If Ran-chan came along, that would be great. She hesitated at the 'girls' trip' and looked back at some of the people who were standing around, doing nothing. "What 'bout Aoko-chan an' that little girl?"

Yukiko winked at her. "Aoko-chan wasn't with us when we left. She and Kai-kun took off ahead. As for the girl, if we can pry her away from Shin-chan then I could get her some cute outfits. Oh and makeovers too."

Kazuha smiled and nodded while Heiji walked away. She stuck her tongue out at his retreating form, going with the lady and going to get Ran-chan. Makeovers were out because they were going to go in the water but she might like to check out what foreign clothes were like around here.

Chikage was leading Saguru up the steps when someone grabbed her other arm and tugged.

"Come on. We have a girls' only shopping trip planned. I think he's good with the boys for a bit right?"

Saguru reached over and touched the hand. "Go. I will be just fine." He reached up with the same hand and touched the brim. While the hat was not his usual, the gesture was common enough.

Conan walked up. He was still trying to get Haibara to let him go but she wasn't. He looked around. There weren't any cars. There was nowhere to hide. If they had come, they couldn't be anywhere nearby. He reached up and held K2's hand. He smiled at Kid's mom. "Don't worry. And I actually know my way around. Someone has to look after my mom."

Chikage nodded. "Have a good time." She turned after giving Saguru a pat on the arm since he wouldn't see a wave and took off to the cab.

Yukiko looked down at the girl. "How about it? You coming? Just us girls."

Ai looked at Kudo-kun and considered the fool that was being. She had to assume that he was their target and being near Hakuba-kun was dangerous. It did seem very similar to what he was doing, being so close with her, but at least she had anonymity now with her apparent age. She looked up at Kudo-kun's mother when she spoke to her and shook her head, not letting go of Kudo-kun's other hand. "I don't really like shopping and I don't want to move anymore. I want to lie down." She wiped her eye as if she were tired. Her acting skills could be impressive when she wanted them to be.

Yukiko raised an eyebrow. The girl was wiping her eyes but hadn't bothered blinking or watering them or anything first. She shook her head at it. "If you don't want to come just say so." She pouted a bit but then again, without her, they could hit a few places they wouldn't be able to with a little girl. "Oh well, stay with the guys." She whispered to her, "And blink or tear-up first. It sells the tired eyes much better than just rubbing them."

Ai glared at the woman once her back was turned. She did not need acting advice. She wasn't very fond of doing it anyway. She turned forward again, forcing Kudo-kun to start walking so that no one else could take the opportunity to talk to her and they could get out of the open.

Conan heard what his mom said and smiled as they walked inside, having to let go of K2's hand so he could get the door. "She's right you know." All he got in response was a glare so he shut up.
