I do not own anything from Danball Senki Wars.

For certain chapters that have connection with the storyline, I'll post them here instead of The Side Stories No One Likes to Share. This one feels to have significance in Different Than You which is why I'm posting it here.

Somewhere deep in Japan's mountains, a small town was hidden by the illusion makers and barriers against Night Lurkers surrounding the entire area. The reason behind this is to hide the special school, Fantasy, from prying eyes. So far, this tactic had worked for centauries against Night Lurkers all thanks to the Gem of Wishes. However, without it, the barriers were severely weakened and illusion makers were the only line of defense against the Night Lurkers other than the army of students from Fantasy currently led by a brown haired, hazel eyed senior, Arianna and her second-in-command, Arata. Currently, both of them were perched on a tree on the lookout for more Night Lurkers than the ones already gathered.

"Looks like more reinforcements came in the night." Arata whispered to Arianna, passing her the pair of binoculars he was using. "Their numbers had doubled."

"So it seems." Arianna said with a frown. "We have to report this. Come on."

The both of them hopped from tree to tree until they reached a fenced compound. They landed in a large field of the compound and ran to the only building.

"It looks like we have to move our less experienced students away with the town people." Yuko mused after Arianna and Arata gave their report. "There is no way we can put them in danger. Should anything happen to us, they will be the ones who will continue our fight."

"In that case, why don't Reika-chan oversee that with the other teleporters?" One of the teachers suggested.

Yuko thought about it for a moment and nodded in agreement. "Alright. Inform Reika about this and have her get it done by tomorrow night."

"Hai!" Arianna saluted and went to find Reika and deliver the news. Arata on the other hand, remained in the debriefing room.

"When should we commerce our attacks?"

"When we are sure they will attack." Yuko said grimly. "There may be a small chance they are only scouting. We don't want to provoke them into truly attacking."

"In that case, should we find a temporary energy source to power up the barriers?" The same teacher asked.

"Nothing can withstand the tremendous strain from the barriers except for the Gem of Wishes."

"Yuko-san!" Arianna burst into the room. "The Night Lurkers are moving forward! If this keeps up, they'll reach town in an hour!"

"Evacuate the town people to the basement! Arianna, gather all troops and get them ready for battle. Arata, you and Reika will be airborne on your Avians to monitor the situation and give back up wherever needed."

"Right!"

Back in California, Mia and Wataru suddenly felt a foreboding feeling run down their spines. Maya and Nick saw it but the rest did not. Mia got up and went to her room.

"Mia?" Her step father called after her.

"I'm not hungry," Came her reply. The others waited until dinner was over before joining her.

"Mia, what's wrong?" Maya asked. She glanced over at Wataru who had the same strain look. "What happened?"

"We felt it." Wataru forced out. "The Night Lurker attack has started."

Everyone fell into silence until Maya punched the wall. "We should be back with them, not here!"

"There's no point in getting angry with that. We have our own mission here now." Nick tried to calm her down. "Night Lurkers were also spotted here in LA so we have to track them down and get rid of them."

"Some vacation this is." Mia groaned. "How are we supposed to do that without Muraku and co noticing?"

"I don't know." Nick shrugged. "But we'll cross the bridge when it comes to it."

Mia tried to be reassured by his words but her mind somehow got connected with someone on the battle field and she could see everything that is happening out there. She trembled at one scene where one Night Lurker mercilessly cut down a girl with electrokinesis powers and would have drank her blood had someone not saved her.

Wataru was in the same predicament but was less controlled with his emotions. "Stop it!" He cried. "I don't want to see them."

Maya and Nick were startled by his words but figured it was a connection to his telepathy. They looked at Mia and could see she was in the same situation with Wataru. Maya sighed and touched Mia to copy her telepathic powers and used them to block Mia and Wataru's minds from the gory scenes.

"This is bad." She muttered. "They aren't up to the level of control needed to block this out themselves."

Nick shook his head and buried it in his hands. "This is going to be hard for all of us."

Mia nodded in agreement. She really hoped that Arata and Reika will be safe along with their friends.

"Reika, give the blue team some support!" Arata yelled to her from on top his Aviane, Blaze. Blaze had a large red dragonoid body and two sets of massive wings. It was defeating Night Lurkers by spewing fire and fire balls from its mouth.

Reika on the other hand was riding Aquila, her long aqua blue serpentine friend with one set of long wings. She waved to show that she got the message and directed Aquila over to the blue team where they were being cornered. "Aquila, help them!"

Aquila complied by spreading her wings and blue plasma orbs formed along each side of the wings. When it brought down its wings, the plasma orbs instantly flew at the Night Lurkers and disintegrated them.

Reika sighed in relief and patted Aquila on the back. "Good job. Now fly to the southern gate."

Her Aviane hummed in reply and did as it was told. As soon as it arrived at the southern gate, it flew close enough to Blaze so that Arata and Reika can converse.

"We're pushing them back!" Reika yelled over the chaos.

"I know!" Arata shouted back. "But we have to get them to retreat. I doubt that the ground troops can take it much longer!"

"Double strike?"

Arata nodded in confirmation. "Double strike!" He pressed the button on his ear comn to reach Arianna. "Arianna, Reika and I are going to go with a double strike! Pull back the others!"

"Alright!" Arianna answered and turned to everyone around her. "Everyone, pull back! Spread the message!"

Soon enough, every single Valorite and Vigilnite were falling back while the Night Lurkers chased them on as expected. However, they did not noticed the two Avianes that were concealed by the thick foliage until they emerged suddenly, spewing fire and water at the same moment. The two attacks merged and destroyed more than half of the remaining Night Lurker army. Realizing they were outnumbered, what was left of the Night Lurkers immediately ran off.

Arianna sighed in relief after the battle and oversaw the cleanup. Overall, they had lost no one but many had sustained serious injuries that warrant immediate medical attention. But all in all, everyone was alive and that's what matters, she told herself.

"Arianna-senpai, we're done with the cleanup." Arata told her.

"Good." Arianna nodded and sighed, "We may have won the first round, but there will be more to come. And more than half our forces are badly injured."

"They are currently recovering in the Pool of Healing in the Aviane dimension." Arata informed her.

Arianna nodded in acknowledgment and gestured for Arata to walk with her. "What about Mia in California?"

"I haven't talked to her or the others there since we came back."

Arianna frowned. "I wonder if it was really worth it to send them to California. The Night Lurker spotting's might be false after all."

"I don't know but its better safe than sorry." Arata sighed but silently agreed with her. He wished that Mia was around with them now but there was no way she can come without getting past Muraku.
