No. Sapphire did not want this happening. She did not want Ethan to be Scourge. That must be why her father had took her to Ethan. The boy had said he would do anything. That was why. It must be. What else would Arthas want from Ethan?
Ethan was just a deathknight, though. It was odd. Obviously, her father was bothered by Sapphire loving the deathknight, a traitorous Ebon Blade.
If it was not so horrible, Sapphire might be touched at her father's attention. As it was, she was terrified for Ethan's safety. She was trying to stay calm, but panic was trying to force it's way out of her. She felt her father's distant emotions and thoughts. Something was clearly making him mad. Something always made him mad.
Sapphire slumped against the wall, and slowly fell down to the ground. She sighed. The room was depressing. The girl wondered if it would be worse for the room to be dark, or light as it was. Light revealed the skeleton, and the stark, bare walls of smooth metal.
The girl wrapped the cloak around her, and curled up. Sapphire fell asleep.
She dreamed of a city on fire. There were undead everywhere, attacking a group of soldiers. One was a paladin in the lead. He wore ornate armor, and wielded a large hammer. Sapphire wondered who he was.
Sapphire woke up, gasping. She looked at the door as a side glance, and froze.
The door was only the tiny bit open, barely enough for her to have noticed.
The girl quickly went over to the door. She gently pulled it open, and looked out. There were no guards.
What? Sapphire was confused. Why would her father have not placed a guard on her? The girl swung the door completely open, and left. She walked through the dungeon. There was nobody that she saw. Screams rang in the distant, from those being tortured.
Sapphire fled the halls of the dungeons. She went to the kitchens immediately. She was starving.
Only a couple of cultists were there. They did not seem terribly surprised at her appearance, which meant that her father did not let on his daughter was supposed to be imprisoned. Sapphire went over to a bunch of stored foods. There were barrels. She went to one, and opened it. The barrel looked empty, but there was a secret compartment in the bottom. Sapphire opened it. Several jars of honey, fruit preserves, chocolate, and tubs of butter lay jumbled together.
The girl grabbed a jar of honey, some butter, and a large chunk of chocolate. She closed the secret lid.
Sapphire found a small, fresh loaf of bread on the counter. It was a little warm still. Grabbing a knife, the girl cut open the bread, and spread out butter and honey inside of it.
She bit into it, and nearly fainted. Oh, she had such a sweet tooth, and the taste nearly made her cry. She wolfed down the bread, and started on the chocolate.
A door opened, and the girl yelped. She hid behind the barrels, and peeked up. It was Nicci. The woman looked upset, and looked around. She did not ask help from the other cultists, and left. Sapphire breathed easily.
A stab of pain came from her collar. Sapphire cursed. She did not care anymore about language. The girl stood up calmly, and left the kitchen.
She felt the sudden need to go to the Shadow throne. Her father must be there if she was getting that feeling. She wanted to resist, but did not. She walked off toward the throne.
The way into the Halls of Reflection was closed. Sapphire scowled, and touched the wall. It opened at her touch, and Sapphire frowned.
"What is going on?"
She slowly went through the hall. Sapphire looked around, and entered Sword's Rest. Like the name implied, Sword's Rest was where Frostmourne was kept when her father did not have it with him. A pedestal in the middle of the room was where it stayed, hovering in mid-air. Sapphire had tried to touch it a couple of times when it sat hovering, but she never got to. An inch before her fingers ever touched the blade, either Marwyn or her father snatches her away. Her father would always scold her, but Marwyn would threaten to rip the flesh from her bones. He wore a smile whenever he did though, and would play with her when she was younger. Now Marwyn just kissed her on the cheek and send her away.
Sapphire entered into Sword's Rest. And gasped.
Undead lay everywhere. The girl expected to see them come back to life, but they did not. Sapphire saw two, very recognizable deathknights. She stared, and then ran over to them.
"No...Captain Falric? Marwyn! Uncle Marwyn!" Sapphire clutched Marwyn's hand in both of hers. His chestplate was crushed terribly, and he was splattered with blood. The girl stroked his gloved hand. She liked Marwyn...He always gave her birthday presents. Granted, the last one was a severed goblin head, but it was the thought that counted. He had told her he had killed the goblin himself. That was the kindest thing that the deathknight probably could manage.
Sapphire looked toward the way that went to the Shadow Throne. She realized that someone had gotten into the Citadel. The girl stood up. She forgot about the dead undead. She sprinted to the Shadow Throne, and found it empty. She went to the Hidden Passage, where the icy path that goes to the balcony. Sapphire slipped on the ice. The girl snarled, and got back up.
She did not slip again. She ran across the ice. Undead bodies lay along the path. They were not important. There was a necropolis floating close by, but the girl paid no mind to it either.
Sapphire got to the open doorway, and sighed in relief at the sight of her father. She ran to him, and reached her hand to grab his cloak. But she stopped.
Arthas had Jaina Proudmoore in a shadowy grip of magic.
"Dad! No!" She cried.
The Lich King dropped her mother, and whipped around at her. Sapphire cried out as pain erupted from her collar.
"Stupid brat. I-"
Sapphire saw something large come up in front of the balcony. Some kind of flying ship or something. There was a bang, and the girl tried to run to her mother.
"Mom!" There was a bang, and a crash above Sapphire's head. She looked up, and saw several tons of rock coming down at her.
"No!"
Hands grabbed her, and she was pushed to the ground. The rocks came down. Sapphire cried out, and closed her eyes. She clung to one of the arms around her
Sapphire heard the rocks crash around her, but none hit her. The girl was tucked against painful armor. Dust filled her lungs, and she coughed. The rocks soon stopped, and Sapphire looked up at her father. It was dark except for his glowing eyes.
"Little idiot."
Tears fell down her face. She hugged him, and trembled. His arms tightened around her, and Arthas pulled her against his breastplate. He stroked her hair with one hand.
Sapphire heard loud crashes outside. Dust fell down in her eyes, and they stung. The girl cowered in her father's arms. He shifted, and there was a sound of shifting rocks. The girl realized he must have rocks actually laying on him. There was more crashes. The girl flinched, and buried her face against Arthas. It took about an hour for the rocks to be cleared away.
Bright light blinded her as the rocks were suddenly moved. Her eyes watered from the light and the rocks. Her father got up, and pulled her up. A Frostwyrm stood there, standing on some of the rubble.
Arthas growled at Sapphire.
"Go back to your room or your cell. I don't give a damn which."
Sapphire nodded, and walked off. Then, she turned.
"Tha...Thank you, Dad."
Her father just went over to the edge of the balcony, and stood there silently.
