Friday turns out to be one of the few days that Amy doesn't go into the office, instead working from home; or mostly working from home. The only time she leaves is in the morning to pick up paperwork from her office and to let Shane and Stephanie know that she'll be at home all day. And judging by the fact that Amy's leaving this message with the personal secretary and not the McMahon siblings leads her to believe that they're also working from out of the office. The redhead left before either Stephanie or Shane did, having caught a ride home with Randy. Well, technically speaking, it was one of the Evolution Inc. company vehicles, not that she or Randy were too inebriated but neither of them had driven to the ball. John, Dawn, Kurt, Lisa and Tyson had also gone with them in the vehicle. And since it was an Evolution Inc. company vehicle, Randy was the last to be taken home, sending Kurt first, Tyson and John next which left the three women. This decision wouldn't backfire against the redhead until the morning; Dawn and Lisa also having called in but opting to take the day off instead of working from home. Her two roommates hadn't moved from their respective bedrooms, Amy returning from the office building to announce that she'd picked up food from a favorite café. She had just set her briefcase down, getting ready to start coffee for herself and her roommates when the front desk called up to the apartment.
Moments later, Amy finds herself face to face with Randy.
And he's holding a purse.
"Is there something you want to tell me?"
"This is Dawn's," there's a long pause as he holds out the clutch purse. "I think, anyway. I wasn't really paying attention."
"I see," she accepted the item from him. "Are you working today?"
Randy shook his head, dressed casually, "Eric, either in an act of benevolence or because he's got a terrible hangover, decided to give everyone the day off."
Amy nodded shortly, "well that must be nice," the redhead shifted back. "Unfortunately, I do have work to do."
Randy put his hands in the pockets of his jeans, "I'm not trying to dissuade you from working, but do you absolutely have to now?" He held up one hand quickly in defense, "I'm just asking to see if you might want to grab an early lunch."
She arched an eyebrow, "and what about the movie tomorrow?"
He smirked at her, "well, that's tomorrow. I'm talking about lunch, today."
"I'm not really dressed to go anywhere."
"You look fine from where I'm standing."
Amy rolled her eyes, "and it's like I said already, I do have a lot of work to do."
Randy arched an eyebrow at her, "but you're going to have to eat at some point."
She's relenting and he knows it. "Give me five minutes to bring Dawn's purse upstairs and to leave a note."
"I won't go anywhere," he says and sits down in one of the nearby plush chairs in the lobby of the apartment building.
Upstairs, Amy sets Dawn's purse on the kitchen table, leaving a note beside the coffee maker so her roommates will find it easily. And while she's still hesitant because she does have the usual mountain of paperwork to go through, she heads back downstairs. The redhead isn't sure what to expect, but she supposes that agreeing to go out for lunch is harmless enough. Amy doesn't count on spending most of the day with him, including catching the baseball game with him, his nephew and nieces.
She still meets with Randy on Saturday, agreeing to see a movie at the very least.
Dawn smirked at the redhead, "so, you spent most of the day yesterday with Randy and now you're going to see a movie with him."
Amy rolled her eyes, "give it a rest, Dawn."
"Ames, come on. Clearly, he wants you back."
"And, so what?"
The brunette shot her friend a look, "are you going to tell me that you aren't even remotely interested in getting back together with him?"
Finishing off her make-up, Amy delayed her reply. "Actually yes, that is what I'm telling you. Dawn, it's been years since Randy and I were together."
"So, that doesn't mean that you can't keep this in consideration. And I know that you hate hearing this from us, but, it's been years since you've dated anyone."
"And with good reason. I've devoted a great deal of time to my job."
Dawn crossed her arms, a critical look now settled in her eyes. "Yeah, and it's paid off. I get that and I'm proud and you should be proud."
Amy pressed her lips into a thin line, double checking her reflection in the hallway mirror. "I understand where you all are coming from because I hear it enough from my mom. But if I'm going to start dating seriously, it's going to be on my own terms."
"Just don't write him off, okay? I know I wasn't there and I don't know your past history with Randy, but … give him a chance."
"That's what I'm doing," Amy reassured, grabbing her keys from the rack. "If I wasn't even the slightest bit interested in getting back together with him? I would have made the message pretty damn clear." Sending her friend a smile, the redhead continued: "I appreciate your concern Dawn, but, please? Don't interfere."
Dawn held up her hands, "I won't and have fun, okay?"
Amy grinned as she opened the door, "I highly doubt that will be a problem."
The redheaded CEO is still unsure as to where this is going, but she won't deny that she enjoys Randy's company. And maybe she still does have some feelings for him, but even that doesn't surprise her. True enough, she hadn't dated anyone for a significant amount of time since her relationship with Randy, but that didn't mean that she was going to jump right back into a relationship with him, either. In the meanwhile, Amy supposed it wouldn't hurt to just enjoy the time she does spend with him, and she does very much.
