Don't own anything... Do I really have to keep doing this?

CH. 28 Icy doom

Now that the Nephilim have heard that someone might know a where Eden is, 7 of them make their way to the top of a mountain.

Fury was leading at the top, her bone thickness and weigh making a path for the others. The archer – Wind, was behind her, keep a sharp eye for anything that might attack. After them came Death, a dual sword swinger named Tiger and a spear user Pierce. They would be able to react fast and kill anything harmful. And last in line were War and Absalom, making sure so no one falls behind.

The snow was deep and continuously falling. The wind was howling loud and was cold as ice, biting into their bones and skin. Yet every now an then, it would all turn upside down. The temperature would change and the wind turn hot.

"How much longer until we reach the top?!" Absalom shouted, but was hardly heard by the females.

But as soon as he saw the others stop, his answer was answered.

Here, at the top, the wind didn't blow and not even snow was falling much. It was like they entered a whole new place. Well, that might be partly correct.

They were standing in front of a frosted fortress. A path of ice covered by snow was before them.

They stood there for a few moments before Pierce said: "Let's just get going already!"

"Wait! We don't know how stab-" Death wanted to warn but the spear user ignored him and walked on.

After taking 5 steps, cracking was heard and in the next instant, the male had nowhere to stand. He fell down to Creator knows where, with his scream echoing. The others gulped and looked at the pale Nephilim.

"Where should we step then?" Fury asked, clearly not wanting to join the other male.

"Who is the lightest of us here?" the elder brother asked.

"That would be, you or me," the archer stated, somewhat scared what he had in mind.

The to-be Pale Rider sighed and said to his brother: "Hold these for me."

He handed War his dual scythes and mask and took a deep breath. He then walked to where Pierce left a hole and really slowly put one foot on the other side.

"Brother!" both siblings yelled when they heard a creaking sound.

But lucky him, it didn't break. He then repeated the motion, occasionally stepping back to avoid a very long, cold and deadly fall.

"Hey Bliss, have you seen Strife?" Raven asked one of the Nephilim in the camp.

"You mean the gun user? No, haven't seen him," was his answer as the wizard sighed.

"Oh great… Thanks," he said and sat at the camp fire.

"At this rate I'll never find him… And it's already been 2 days. He must be freezing, starving and tired," he thought looking at the warm fire.

"Well I guess I'll go look for him in the woods," he said aloud and stood up.

He then walked to the edge of the camp side and took a deep breath. He took another step forward and passed through the force shield he had put there and started walking aimlessly in the woods yelling: "Strife! Where are you?! Get your ass back to the camp!"

When he finally reached the end of the icy path, he shouted: "Walk in my steps! Move slowly! I'll go on ahead!"

"Wait! You don't have your weapons! What is something attacks?" his best friend shouted back.

"I'll figure something out!" he yelled before disappearing into the fortress.

"So, who's next?" Tiger asked in a joke tone.

"What is this place?" the to-be Horseman asked as he looked around the frozen rooms. It was truly a magnificent place, beautiful, prideful and powerful.

He walked on until he reached a large double door frame without the door. When he walked through it, he saw it only led him back outside. But, he saw it he wasn't alone. There, before him sitting in a throne was a figure. From the distance, it was hard to tell what it looked like.

"Who are you?" the Nephilim asked as he slowly walked closer.

He saw the figure – it was an elderly, bald male with big gray eyebrows and a beard. He was wearing a coat which had raven feathers attached to it. He also had a book and something that looked like a round bottle chained to his arms.

"Me? The better question is who are you?"

"I asked you, old man. Now answer me!" he demanded.

"You come barging into my fortress, demand to know who I am and show no respect. You must be either a Nephilim, Demon or a Great Maker."

"I know not what a 'Maker' is but I am no Demon. You were right however. My kin is the Nephilim. Now answer me."

"My, my – such impatience. I am called many names, but you may call me Crowfather."

"Come on Fury! You're the last one!" War called for his sister.

She has said she'd go last, but now that she was, she refuses to set foot on the thin ice.

"No! Go on without me. I'll find another way!" she called back.

"Fury, there is no other way. If it held these two," Wind said pointing at Absalom and War: "it can hold you! Now come on!

The whip user took a deep breath and took a steady step on the path. She then put her other foot on as well, and the ice held.

"See? It's not that bad!" Tiger encouraged, but it didn't help with what came after. The ice started visibly cracking as they looked in horror.

"Run!" was what everyone shouted and that's what she did.

She ran and ran as the ground started disappearing into the depths. She used her empowered speed to make it to the other side, but right before she'd take the last step, the path was fully gone. She was in midair and falling and was about to speed across the air when a hand grabbed her by the wrist. Had the hand not grabbed her, she could have speed, but now, it was all over.

It was the archer that took hold, but she was then also pulled down, so the dual sword user threw himself to grab her leg and keep them from falling off the edge, but it didn't help much. The to-be Horseman grabbed the male by the end of his coat and was pulling him back up while Absalom put his hand out to help the females on solid ground.

Once on solid ground, Absalom was holding Fury close to to his chest and whispered: "I'm so glad you're alright... Don't scare me like that again..."

"I won't... Don't worry..." she whispered back and rested her head on his chest.

The two stayed like that for a few minutes. They all noticed and thought it was just adorable. Even War gave a smile as seeing his sister so happy. He then thought of something and said: "Come on guys. We need to find my brother. Let's give these two some space," and started walking towards the fortress. The others understood what he meant and followed him, leaving Absalom and Fury alone.

The two looked after them and chuckled as they said: "We owe War one."

The two then looked at each other right in the eyes. And then, slowly, their lips touched in a warm and passionate kiss. It was as if nothing else mattered but this moment. And after what felt like forever, they broke to kiss to be able to breathe. They were both smiling as the female said: "We should go..."

The male gave a nod, took her hand in his and the due ran to the entrance.

"Crowfather. I was told you have information regarding Eden. Is this true? And if it is, tell me where to find it."

"It is true. I am the Keeper of Secrets and there are none that I do not know. Yet what purpose do you have in Eden? It is intended for the Humans."

"I merely wish to see the place. I hear it is a wondrous place," he lied, hoping beyond hope he'd believe.

"Hmm that is true as well. But you should work on your lies boy," the old man smirked and pointed a thin finger at the Nephilim.

"There is great war within you. A war for control, between your soul and power. One lusts for blood and death while the other seeks peace and freedom."

That took the Nephilim by surprise. He hasn't told anyone, not his siblings or best friend, that he has been having this… blood lust.

"How did you-" he started but was cut short by the man saying: "I told you didn't I? I am the Keeper of Secrets. I know everything."

"That is not what matters! Tell me where to find Eden!" he demanded again, not wanting someone to play with him.

"You seek Eden? You will find it on Earth. But before you go," he told and in an instant he was behind the haven-haired male.

Death didn't even have time to react before he spoke again: "This should help with your inner strife."

He placed a hand on the back of his head and a pale light glowed. A moment later, Death let out a bone chilling scream of pain. He collapsed to the ground as his vision became blurry.

"Fear not boy. I only gave you a power that would help you learn control. It is called Necromancy. Use it wisely," he said before vanishing as he heard voices coming closer.

"Strife! Come on! You want me to pull my vocal chords out?!"

Raven was still calling for the gun slinger, but so far, no response. He let out a sigh and turned back to the way he came. But when he looked at the path, he saw someone standing there.

"Finally came out did you?" he smirked and created a fire ball in his hands.

Who stood in his path was not Strife, far from it. It was a Demon. A small one with sharp fangs and talons. It let out a growl and speed at the wizard. He was ready and threw the fire ball, but it moved to fast and the attack missed.

By the time it reached him, he created a fire pillar and set it on fire. It let out a scream but still charged forward.

"Damn, so fast!" he thought as it scratched his shoulder.

He jumped away but it followed only a step behind. But a moment later a bang was heard and the Dreg fell to the ground. As Raven looked to his left, he saw the person he's been looking for.

"Decided to join?" he asked, but his tone lacked humor.

The face of his savior was shown and he was as serious as Death. He then put the helmet back on and did a turn of a screw so it covered his face.

"What do you want?" he asked annoyance in his words.

"I came here looking for you. Guess you found me."

Strife said nothing, only glared at the Nephilim.

"Come on. Let's go back. Everyone's worried about you" he motioned for him to follow.

"Everyone?" he asked, in a sad tone.

"…They're not back yet, but he's probably worried about you too," he answered, back turned to the to-be Horseman.

"How can you tell?"

"'Casue I had a little brother like you myself."
