Previously on Criminal Minds- Dave started to run to his friend but stopped, realizing the only thing that would accomplish would be to land them both in jail. Hailey and the girls and Spencer all needed him on the outside to fix this mess. So he stood holding onto Julie and Jenny as the baby of their family was forcibly taken from them.

Helena Robesh stepped off the porch and started down the stone pathway, a bright smile on her face. She always got such satisfaction out of knowing she'd saved a child. And that she was able to place him or her in a loving foster home like the Smiths. Amy was a lucky little girl. The Smiths were one of the top foster families in the state. She'd be well taken care of in their home. She wished all their charges could end up in homes like that. Unfortunately families like the Smiths were few and far between.

Making it to her car, Helena pulled out the keys to the Toyota Camry and pressed the unlock button on her key chain. She opened the door and paused at a sudden shout. Looking behind her, she was surprised to see a young man in a black suit running towards her. Helena turned and faced the well dressed man. "Yes?" She greeted. "May I help you?"

"Ms. Robesh, thank goodness" Anderson said as he skidded to a stop in front of the woman. "I'm SSA Anderson of the FBI." He flashed his badge. "Agent Hotchner has been trying to get you on the phone for the past two hours. He sent me to find you when he couldn't get you to answer."

"He called?" Helena muttered with a frown. "But I haven't gotten any calls." Pulling out her cell, she glanced down at the screen. "Oh fudge! The battery must have died!"

"I told Agent Hotchner that was probably the case." Anderson told her.

Ms. Robesh's forehead furrowed. "Agent Hotchner? Nothing's happened to Spencer Reid, has it?"

"I'm afraid so, ma'am." Anderson replied. "Spencer was taken from the Hotchners by a CPS worker in Florida after the little guy had a flashback. The worker refused to listen to Agent Hotchner about Spencer being a foster child in his care. He just had the security guards at the park take him out of Hotch's arms."

"WHAT?!" Ms. Robesh shouted.

"Yes ma'am" Anderson said with a nod. "And apparently, the CPS office down there is backlogged or some such crap. They haven't even called your office yet to check on Agent Hotchner's story."

Helena's frown morphed into a scowl. "That was their second mistake." She growled. "Tell me where the Hotchners are. I'll call my office and have them fax a copy of Spencer's records to the appropriate office down there."

Anderson shook his head. "We already tried that ma'am. He called your office after you didn't answer the first two times. The worker he spoke to, a Robert Hastings, attempted to reach you. After that failed, he called the CPS department in Orlando, explained the situation, and asked for a fax number so he could fax a copy of the file. Mr. Hastings told Agent Hotchner that the office down there didn't believe him and refused to give him a fax number." He explained. "Agent Hotchner sent me to get you and escort you and the little boy's file to Orlando. I am to personally deliver you and the file."

"I can't go…"

"Agent Rossi has already cleared things with your superiors." Anderson informed her. "And he somehow managed to procure the use of the bureau's jet. It's already fueled and ready to go. The pilot's just waiting on us to get there."

Helena nodded. "Alright" she agreed. "Let me run by my house and pack a bag and then stop by the office for the file."

"Yes ma'am" Anderson responded. "I'll follow you to your home. You can ride with me from there."

"Thank you" Ms. Robesh said before climbing into her car. Starting the engine, she buckled herself in and then slowly pulled onto the road. After checking to ensure the agent was behind her, Helena pressed down harder on the petal. She had another child to save.

Hotch anxiously paced the length of the bedroom. He'd retreated there after Rossi had pointed out that he was scaring the already upset girls. He didn't want to be here. He wanted to be at the CPS building demanding to get his son back. But Aaron knew better than that. The only thing storming into that office would get him was arrested. And unlike earlier, the police wouldn't let him go. Not that they had actually arrested him the first time. The officers had merely detained him for questioning after Spencer was taken. They had taken his statement, corroborated it with the CPS office in DC, and then released him. He wished the CPS here had acted as swiftly. They had yet to so much as call the office in Washington. The hardheads were so intent on making him the bad guy that they hadn't…

"Aaron honey come sit down." Hailey softly said, breaking the angry haze surrounding her husband's thoughts. "Working yourself up like this isn't helping Spencer."

"And sitting there is!" Aaron shouted, throwing his hands in the air in frustration. Seeing his wife shrink back, he deflated. He dropped onto the bed beside her and gently took her hand in his. "I'm sorry Hailey. I'm just, just…"

"Terrified?" Hailey filled in.

Aaron nodded. "I'm scared to death of losing him." he admitted. "And I'm worried about what this latest forced separation will do to him. There's only so much a person can take and Spencer's been through so much already. I'm not sure he can handle anymore."

"Spencer is one tough little boy. He survived everything that monster of a father did to him. He'll make it through this." Hailey said, attempting to assure herself as well as her husband.

"I hope you're right." Aaron whispered, enveloping Hailey in a hug. "I truly hope you're right."

"I am." Hailey stated with far more conviction than she was feeling.

The couple startled at a sudden knock on the door. They looked up just in time to see Rossi stick his head around the now open door.

"Let's go" Dave ordered, tossing Aaron his suit jacket. "Anderson just called. They landed five minutes ago. He said they were heading to the rental car and then going straight to the CPS office. And that Ms. Robesh wants us to meet them there."

Aaron and Hailey practically leapt off the bed. Donning his jacket, the young father strode to the door. "We're ready."

Dave grasped his friend's arm. "Aaron" he began.

Hotch smiled at the older man. "It's alright Dave. I promise to be on my best behavior." He said. "I'm not about to do anything to jeopardize getting my son back."

Rossi nodded and released his hold. Walking into the living room, he took the Jareau girls by the hand. "Come on girls! Let's go get Spencer!"

Grinning from ear to ear, the group hurried out of the hotel room and down the long hallway. They couldn't wait to be reunited with their youngest!

"MOMMY! DADDY!" Jenny shouted as she jumped out of the van. Racing over to her parents, she launched herself into their arms. "You came!"

"Of course we came, Sweet Pea" Henry Jareau said, picking up his daughter. "We couldn't not come after what happened."

"Are you two okay?" Susan Jareau questioned as she looked over her girls.

"We're fine mom." Julie assured. "It's Spencer you need to worry about. Those goons have had him for almost five hours now. There's no telling what they've done to him!"

"Now Julie, I'm sure Spencer is just fine." Mr. Jareau said. "CPS' job is to take care of children, not hurt them."

"But"

"But nothing dear, your father's right. Spencer is okay. I promise." Mrs. Jareau told her daughters. "You'll see for yourself when the Hotchners bring him out."

"He better be." Julie mumbled, glaring over at the red brick building. Those people had better not have hurt her friend. They wouldn't like the consequences if they had.

Aaron nodded at the Jareau's before walking past them to the one person who he hoped could put an end to this mess; Ms. Robesh. She was standing with Anderson and another man Hotch didn't recognize. Frowning, he stepped up to the group and extended his hand. "Ms. Robesh, thank you for coming so quickly." He greeted.

Helena smiled. "Mr. and Mrs. Hotchner" she greeted. "I'm so sorry you weren't able to reach me by phone. It seems the battery in my cell chose the worst possible moment to die."

"That's alright" Hailey answered, though it was anything but. "The important thing is that you're here now."

"Do you think you'll be able to get through to those hardheads?" Aaron angrily asked. "They don't seem to be the least inclined to check into Spencer's history or placement."

"Oh, I'll get through to them alright." Ms. Robesh replied. "And even if I can't, he will." She motioned to the tall, dark haired man beside her. "Mr. and Mrs. Hotchner, this is Bert Stevens. He's the CPS Director for the state of Florida."

"Good afternoon" Mr. Stevens said, shaking the Hotchner's hands. "Mr. and Mrs. Hotchner I want to assure you that this matter will be swiftly taken care of and the boy in question returned to your care."

"Thank you sir" Aaron gratefully said.

"No need to thank me. I'm just doing my job." Bert told him. "Actually, I'm doing their job" he nodded towards the building. "Something I will be having a long talk with certain employees about. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a wrong to right."

Helena placed a hand on Aaron's arm. "Sit tight. I'll call you when you can come inside and pick up Spencer." She instructed.

"Thank you" Hailey whispered.

The two families watched the CPS workers enter the building and disappear from sight. Taking a seat on the metal benches in front of the building, the group silently sat and waited for news of their youngest.

Thirty long minutes later Ms. Robesh emerged from the building with a smile on her face. "Mr. and Mrs. Hotchner, you can come in now." she called.

The worried families rushed to the door and followed the woman into the building. They went down several hallways and around corners before stopping outside a door marked playroom.

"Go ahead" Helena urged.

Aaron pushed the door open and stepped inside. His heart broke at the sight of his little boy curled up in the far corner of the room. Resisting the urge to run over and scoop the youngster up, he slowly approached the trembling child. Stopping a few feet away, he knelt down in front of his son. "Spencer? Spencer buddy, its daddy." He softly called. Getting no response, he reached out and gently placed a hand on the four year old's knee. "Hey buddy, daddy's here to take you home. Come on kiddo, look at me."

Spencer slowly raised his head. He gazed in the direction of the soothing voice. Seeing his protector smiling down at him, he quickly crawled over and latched onto the man.

Smiling, Aaron hugged the shaking boy to his chest. "It's alright Spencer" he cooed. "I've got you. You're safe now."
