Year 850
"You sure are protective of that brat," Levi muttered as Reina slowly entered his room.
"He…" She sighed, leaning on his dresser, "Nevermind."
"What is it?" Levi walked up to her, brushing his fingers across her belt.
"It's silly."
"Tell me." He mumbled into the crevice of her neck.
"He…looks like what I'd imagined our child would if it were a boy."
Levi paused to look at his wife, eyes slightly widened.
"I know, I told you it was silly." She muttered, walking away with her head down. Levi grabbed her arm, spinning her around.
"No…it's just…" He pulled her closer, his frown growing deeper. "I love you."
Reina looked up, meeting his gaze before closing her eyes as he kissed her. She smiled.
"I'd like to adopt him, if he'd accept the request." She muttered.
"Hmm. Sounds good. We'd have someone to do the dishes for us."
Reina smacked his arm. "Wow, you jerk!" She laughed. He kissed her on the lips once more. They stayed like that for a prolonged moment before the man's lips moved to her neck. "Ah…Levi…" She opened her eyes, catching a figure by the door from the corner of her eye. "Oh! Eren!"
"Eren…?" Levi muttered in annoyance. He followed her gaze to the cyan-eyed teen standing in the doorway. The two immediately let each other go. The boy's brows were furrowed in confusion.
"W-what brings you here?" Reina smiled nervously.
"Erwin said that Levi is supposed to show me to my room." The kid mumbled, looking down to the ground. "You know…I'm no marriage expert, but if you don't love your husband, you should probably say so before locking lips with somebody else."
Levi and Reina stared at him in shock. Reina placed a hand over her chest. It was starting to ache.
"What the fuck did you just say?" Levi growled, stepping toward Eren.
"Sweetie, you've got it all wr-"
"Don't call me that!" The teen shouted.
"Keep your voice down, Jaeger." Levi hissed.
"You know, my mother may be dead, but I know for a fact that if she were to ever cheat on my dad, she would tell him – because she wasn't a coward. You…I thought you were a kind, loyal person – but now, I don't know what to think."
"Eren-"
"And you!" Eren turned toward the scowling man. "Why would you think it's okay to try to get with a married woman? I used to think you were a hero!"
"Jaeger!" Levi shouted, causing the boy to pause. "Shut your fucking shithole before I rip your god damned lips off!"
A large hand clasped Eren's shoulder, causing him to flinch and look behind him. The tall, blond commander gave him a solemn smile. "It seems there's been a misunderstanding. Eren, why don't you step inside Levi's room so we can clear things up?" It didn't seem like a question to him – more like a demand. Eren sighed and walked into the bedroom slowly, still frowning. "Now," Erwin stepped into the room, closing the door behind him, "Levi, Reina, please explain to Eren what the situation is."
The two looked at each other with hesitation before Reina opened her mouth to suck in a bit of air and began to speak. "Well, Eren, you see…. Levi is…" She laced her fingers through the short man's own. "my husband."
The teenager blinked as his jaw hung open. "…What?"
Levi's eye twitched. "What's the issue, brat?"
"Nothing, it's just…Corporal Levi doesn't seem like the type for marriage…"
"What did you say?"
Reina placed a hand on her husband's shoulder. "Actually, it was Levi's idea in the first place." She smiled as Levi continued to glare at the teenager.
"Then…he was the one who gave you that ring?" Eren asked.
"Obviously." Levi crossed his arms.
"I see…" The blue-eyed boy's gaze dropped to the ground.
"Great!" Reina let out a puff of air, "Now that we've got that cleared up-" She began coughing, he hand shooting up to her mouth.
"Rei?" Levi mumbled, staring at her.
The coughing subsided for a moment, but as she removed her hand from her mouth, she revealed a stain of red fluid on her palm.
"Shit…" She whispered before collapsing. Levi caught her as she fell to the ground. He immediately stood up with Reina in his arms and rushed out of the room.
"Levi!" Erwin called out to him. But the black-haired man ignored him, rushing to the medical wing. He wouldn't dare lose is wife.
Darkness began to fade into a light as Reina's eyes fluttered open.
"What…happened?" She whispered.
"Ah! You're up!" A nurse in the corner of the room smiled. As a matter of fact, it was the same nurse that brought Reina back to health after the tree incident. "It seems you have a new fan." The woman's eyes flickered to the right side of Reina's bed, where Eren was laying his head and sleeping peacefully. Reina smiled.
"He may be a little too bloodthirsty for titans, but he's actually quite cute when he's sleeping…" Reina chuckled.
The nurse smiled and gazed back to her clipboard. "So, it seems your heart finally gave up on itself, but the Corporal brought you here just in time for us to perform surgery on you. It went well, as you can tell by you being still alive. As of now, you should have no more heart problems!"
Her eyes widened. "Really? How could it have been that easy?"
"Well, it wasn't." The nurse sighed. "It was either let you die or perform the surgery which had a 50% success rate. Corporal Levi threw quite a few fits over it. But luckily enough, the surgery was a success!" She smiled at Reina.
"Speaking of which, where is he?"
As if perfectly timed, the hospital door burst open, revealing a wide-eyed, panting Levi.
"Rei…" He whispered before rushing over to the left side of her bed and engulfing her in a hug. "Holy shit, Rei…" She could feel a wetness on her neck as he hugged her.
No…it couldn't be…is Levi…crying?
"Levi?" She replied, hands gripping the back of his military jacket.
"You fucking idiot…" He whispered, kissing the side of her head. Reina smiled.
"I'm alright."
"You'd better be…I don't think poor Levi here could stand you giving him any more heart attacks." Erwin smirked in the doorway, his arms crossed.
"How long has the kid been here?" Levi mumbled, looking at Eren with an unreadable expression. Reina shrugged her shoulders.
"He's been here since she's been out of surgery." The nurse said, smiling at the couple. "He's grown quite attached to you, hasn't he?" She giggled.
"Seems like it." Reina smiled and tapped the teen's head twice. "Sweetie? Wake up. I'm all better."
Eren's eyes fluttered open then widened at the sight. "Miss Oldman!" He exclaimed loudly.
"Keep your voice down, Jaeger." Levi scolded.
"Corporal, have you been…" Levi glared. "…nevermind."
"Um…so, Eren. We were discussing this before I had my little episode…Would you like to come live with us on holidays? You know…be our adopted son?" Reina's eyes were wide as she proposed the idea.
Eren hesitated. "Well… You see… I kind of already have a family, Miss Oldman. Mikasa is my adopted sister, and Armin is my best friend…"
"I see…"
"But I think that'd be good for the three of us. Armin lost his family too, so having a mother and father figure would be good for him I think. Could they come with us too?"
Reina looked at Levi for a moment, before smiling. "Yeah, that sounds great."
