The purple mist cleared outside the office door seconds before Emma burst through it with her gun drawn. "Sydney!" She shouted. The man froze in the act of trying to plant a long, purple instrument in the office. His eyes roved from Regina's knowing smirk to Emma's flushed countenance. The women could see him processing the information in fast forward.

"You." He locked his eyes onto Emma. "You set me up."

"You set yourself up, Sydney." The blonde fired back. "Now, put the wand down and step to your right."

"You seem to have forgotten, Sheriff, that I'm the one with all the power." He smiled in an unfriendly manner and waved the wand high above his head before swishing it back down again. Nothing happened. The man looked at the magical instrument in his hand in bewilderment. "I don't understand."

"Don't you?" Regina stepped forward. "You don't honestly think we would come bursting in here if you had a working wand, do you?"

"But this wand works-"

"Of course it does." Regina cut him off. "But there is no magic in this room. It took myself and Miss Swan the better part of a day to figure it out, but we succeeded in voiding all magic from this room. Rendering that wand useless."

"So, like I said." Emma stepped forward and trained the gun on Sydney's heart. "Drop the wand and step to your right."

Sydney looked at the two women a moment and weighed his options. He looked at Regina. "I was trying to help you."

"By framing me?" She laughed.

"By exposing to you that Sheriff Swan could never be the lover you deserve. By ridding Storybrook of a Snow Queen that might decide she wants your crown. I killed two birds with one stone." He said fervently. "I only did it to prove to you that-"

"What?" The brunette stepped forward. "To prove yourself?" The man watched her sullenly. "You failed, Sydney. Elsa is alive and we will now reverse the spell. I thought I could trust you; but I was obviously mistaken." She glared at him a moment. "You will stand trial." Regina turned her back on him and stepped over to where the blonde was poised; ready to strike.

"Trial?" Sydney grunted. "You're not going to kill me right now?"

"As long as you don't do anything stupid." Emma replied. "Drop the wand."

The man looked at the blonde and then back at Regina. "I could have made you happy." He said softly.

"What-?"

Everything seemed to happen very quickly. Sydney lunged at the brunette with the wand out in front of him like a sword. On instinct, Emma aimed and pulled the trigger. The man hit the floor in a heap and didn't move again. Regina stood stunned in the deafening silence that followed the loud, sharp gunshot.

"Are you ok?" Emma rushed to her, holstering her gun as the brunette stared down at the fallen man.

"Yes."

"I hated to shoot him, but he didn't leave me much choice." Emma said as she followed Regina's gaze.

"No one will judge you, Emma." Regina put a hand to her cheek. "I guess we won't need a trial."

"Why not?" The blonde asked her. "I just hit him in the shoulder. Should be a through and through; clean as a whistle." She reached down and rolled the man over. He grunted in pain.

"Oh!" The brunette said in surprise.

"You thought I killed him?"

"I didn't realize you were such a good shot."

"Did you think I brought in perps with my wit and good looks, woman?"

"I just didn't realize you shot them." Regina said defensively and waved a hand to magic Sydney into handcuffs. He groaned at the angle this forced his wounded shoulder into.

"If they shot at me, I did. I'm not as big as some; I had to have an equalizer." Emma pulled Sydney to his feet as the women continued to talk around him.

"I'm not unhappy that you shot him in the shoulder." The brunette hissed. "It's less messy than killing him. But as he is bleeding on my office floor-"

"Right." Emma grabbed the brunette's hand and away they went in a cloud of golden smoke.

"Alice."

"Emma, Regina." The woman said in relief. "It went well?"

"Yes, Sydney has been apprehended, everything should return to normal now. We will be by as soon as possible to awaken Elsa." Regina said. "I have to seal the hospital room with magic-"

"Hospital?"

"Yes, Sydney had a run in with Emma's bullet."

"Ah." Alice grinned in spite of the very serious situation.

"So, we will be here for at least a bit."

"It's alright. Her Majesty isn't in any hurry, I'm sure."

"See you in a bit." Regina disconnected the transmission and turned to see Dr. Whale walking up.

"He will be fine." The man said matter-of-factly. "Through-and-through. The sheriff was right." Whale glanced around. "We can transport him to one of the cells downstairs if you would like."

Regina considered this. "Yes, that would be acceptable. He can continue to receive medical attention until his trial or until he recovers, at which point he will be relocated to the jail."

"So there really will be a trial?"

"Yes, why?"

"I'm surprised he's still here to be put on trial." Whale grinned and then shrugged. "We will do as you wish, Mayor. His security will be top priority."

"See that it is." She called with half a mind to put the doctor in his place, but Henry's voice sounded behind her.

"Mom!" He said and came hurrying toward her to catch her around the middle.

"Henry?" Regina frowned down at him.

"I saw everything! I was worried about you...but that was so cool!"

Emma sauntered up on long legs, "Ready to go wake Elsa up, kid?"

"Yeah!" he fist pumped and both his mothers smiled.
