The Night and Days of Kurt: Finale

Day #171 Part 2

SAM

Sam slides his shirt on, slowly so he doesn't hurt himself any further. He stares at the envelope on the table.

I guess I can't really question why Quinn left that with me. It would make more sense to give it to Kurt. He'd know what to do with it.

Sam pulls out his phone and sends a message to Kurt.

Hey. I'm awake. Where are you and Noah?

He cringes as he gets his shoes on. Setting his feet back on the floor, he grabs the enveloped. He stands up weakly and makes his way to the door.

I wonder if I need to check out properly or if I can just leave?

He doesn't wait as he slides out of the hospital room, his phone dinging at the same time.

We got called into the police station.

KURT

Kurt slides his phone back into his pocket and frowns at the sheriff that sits before him.

"So you have a witness putting Mercedes at their house when Noah and Santana were attacked, but you don't know who the witness is?" Burt sits back in his chair in a huff. "Both you and I know that that isn't substantial evidence in court."

"That and I doubt she could do that much damage on her own." Kurt chimes in, angrily.

Sheriff Masterson pinches the bridge of his nose. "Look, I know the dilemma that you all are facing here. Trust me, I do. I myself wouldn't be too keen upon it but it's the law and I'm in a bind.

Burt raises his hand, halting the sheriff. "So then what was the point of bringing these kids down here so early?"

"We just want to ask some questions involving their past incidents with Ms. Jones. We are trying to tie her to the other incidents. I know we have some charges against Mr. Karofsky, but if we can tie her into prior incidents there's a better chance of conviction or at least a more in-depth investigation." The sheriff explains, clearly tired of the subject matter.

"I'm surprised that you guys are putting this much effort into this." Burt mutters.

Noah laughs before addressing the sheriff. "So can you just ask our questions and we'll be on our way? I'd rather be at school than a police station. Bad memories and all that."

"Oh I remember those days, Mr. Puckerman." Masterson sighs before standing up. "I guess we'll start with you then. Please follow me."

MERCEDES

The girl lets her eyes linger on the obvious two-way mirror, an innocent smile on her face. Her hands rest on the table and she keeps herself relaxed.

They have nothing on me. That's the whole point of having others do it for you. I did hear something about evidence, but I'm sure it'll be something small. There is no hope for them.

She eyes the box of food in the middle of the table.

"You only live once, right?" She mutters to herself before opening the box and grabbing some food.

QUINN

Flipping her car into cruise control, Quinn lets herself relax for the long drive ahead. The empty roads of the early morning make her feel more at ease as she rubs at a small knot in her neck.

Well that's it, I suppose. I've done everything I could do in Lima. That witch Mercedes is taken care of so that should help the boys. Santana too. Everyone should get taken down with what they've done. I'm so happy that mom is letting me transfer. After everything there . . . I hope that maybe I can finally sleep longer than a few hours.

Her hands drift down to her stomach.

Things will be better for me. It's time to start anew.

KURT

He wraps his arms around Noah as he watches Tina follow Masterson into an interrogation room.

"I hope it wasn't that bad." He whispers into the mans neck.

"Not at all." Noah smiles before pulling back and looking down at Kurt. "It was just the same old stuff. More boring than anything. Nothing is worth waking up this early for repetitiveness."

Kurt chuckles before returning to the warm embrace.

Then this is pointless. They must be really stretched for connections if it's repeating everything.

"Noah. Kurt." Kurt turns at Sam's voice.

"What's wrong?" Noah turns to Sam and puts a hand on his shoulder. "Why are you out of the hospital?"

"And how did you get here?" Kurt adds in as he looks to the blonde.

"That would be this HBIC right here." Santana's voice comes before her appearance through the stations front doors. "And let me tell you I don't appreciate and early wake up call to a small town sausage fest of disappointing proportions."

"Sam, what's going on?" Kurt repeats Noah's question. "You should still be in the hospital."

"This is too important." Sam digs through his coat pocket before he pulls out a thick envelope. "Where is the sheriff?"

"He's talking to Tina." Noah answers as he eyes the envelope. "What is that?"

"What's going on?" Burt asks as he approaches the group of teens. "And why aren't you in the hospital, son?"

Kurt laughs. "That would be the million dollar question."

"Because this right here is going to take care of a lot of problems." Sam slides some pictures out of the envelope. "Now take me to the sheriff."

It has been far too long since I've been writing. Being an adult is hard. But this fic is almost over. Let me know what you think.
