It had been almost a week since I had gotten to camp, I had no idea what they were making Percy do and that terrified me, but I had to be strong. I was working hard, the day after I got here we took a team on Pegasus to scout and map the perimeter so we would know the battle field. I Iris-messaged Sally and Paul to let them know what was going on; they were worried but put on a brave face. When you have Percy as a son, you get use to him disappearing.
We had taken to planning every second we got, everyone was pissed that they had taken Percy. The Hepheous cabin was making sure everyone had weapons and armor that fit. We have more sword fighting lessons for the middle age camper. The Apollo cabin was stacking up on medicine, nectar and ambrosia.
Right now I was in the meeting to decide who was doing to do what.
"Well the time has come to figure out who is going to do what," I told everyone. "Lou, can your cabin take first line in the forest to the south, east and west to try and take out any spells they have set for us?" I asked Lou.
Before I could answer I got a flash back to the first war when Percy had everyone gathered.
"All right," he said "We're going to hold Manhattan."
I watch as Silena tugged at her armor. "Um, Percy, Manhattan is huge." She said as if reminding him how big the city he has grown up in is.
"We are going to hold it," he said again with the determined look he gets when he knows something has to be done. "We have to."
"He's right," I chimed in, trying to help convince people it was possible. "The gods of the wind should keep Kronos's forces away from Olympus by air, so he'll try a ground assault. We have to cut off the entrances to the island."
"They have boats," Michael Yew pointed out.
I saw the gears turning in his head, we both now knew that my mom's warning meant. "I'll take care of the boats," he said
Michael frowned. "How?"
"Just leave it to me," was his only reply before changing the topic. "We need to guard the bridges and tunnels. Let's assume they'll try a midtown or downtown assault, at least on their first try. That would be the most direct way to the Empire State Building. Michael, take Apollo's cabin to the Williamsburg Bridge. Katie, Demeter's cabin takes the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. Grow thorn bushes and poison ivy in the tunnel. Do whatever you have to do, but keep them out of there! Conner, take half of Hermes cabin and cover the Manhattan Bridge. Travis, you take the other half and cover the Brooklyn Bridge. And no stopping for looting or pillaging!" it was times like thi that I knew I had rubbed off on him. back when we were 12 he would have just said do whatever but now he's a leader and I couldn't help but love him.
"Awwww!" the whole Hermes cabin complained.
"Silena, take the Aphrodite crew to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel."
"Oh my gods," one of her sisters said. "Fifth Avenue is so on our way! We could accessorize, and monsters, like, totally hate the smell of Givenchy."
"No delays," he told them "Well . . . the perfume thing, if you think it'll work."
Six Aphrodite girls kissed me on the cheek in excitement. I don't think I had ever wanted to hurt another half-blood on our side as much. Everyone at camp talks about how we would be good together or how we should be together, most of the people know that I like him especially after I thought he had died.
"All right, enough!" he close his eyes, probably picturing the island. "The Holland Tunnel. Jake, take the Hephaestus cabin there. Use Greek fire, set traps. Whatever you've got."
He grinned. "Gladly. We've got a score to settle. For Beckendorf!"
The whole cabin roared in approval.
"The 59th Street Bridge," he called "Clarisse—"
He faltered. Clarisse wasn't here. The whole Ares cabin, curse them, was sitting back at camp.
"We'll take that," I stepped in, saving him from an embarrassing silence. I turned to my
siblings. "Malcolm, take the Athena cabin, activate plan twenty-three along the way, just like I showed you. Hold that position."
"You got it."
"I'll go with Percy," I said. "Then we'll join you, or we'll go wherever we're needed."
I don't think I had ever seen him like this before but I knew in that moment if we both lived through this I was going to step it up and make a move.
"Um…Annabeth did you hear me?" Lou asked me, bringing me back to the present day.
"No sorry I got lost in the past, what did you say?" I asked blushing a little.
"I said that my cabin can do anything, we need to show my siblings not to mess with our friends." When she said Siblings she said it like I would say monster army at the doors of death.
"Ok then we have the oldest campers go in from all sides, the second oldest on Pegasus, with everyone else as back up and coming in at 10 minute intervals" I said telling everyone my plan.
No one said anything; we all wanted to kick Ashley and Calix's ass for messing with our friend.
"We strike tomorrow morning at sun rise, get your cabin to the dinning pavilion no later than 3 tomorrow. And yes that means AM Conner." I said before they had the chase to ask.
Hey guys so this is one of the last two or three chapters before I work on my other stories for the next little while. I'm sorry to say this but I fell like at the end of this it is a good time but then I can still come back and write more later. Thanks so much for reading and I hope you like this "end"
