Chapter 29
Someone knocked at his door and Elmont was surprised when he opened it.
"Princess, what are you doing here?"
Elmont turned around and leaned over his table as he poured another drink. Isabelle slipped inside, followed by Crawe, who closed the door.
"Crawe... I thought I asked to be left alone, didn't I?"
"You didn't, in fact..."
"Then I thought I had made myself clear that I wanted to be alone" he said as he moved to his bed, sitting on the edge of the bed with a cup of wine firmly in his hand.
"Elmont don't you think it is pretty earlier in the evening to being drinking?" Isabelle asked, crossing her arms.
"I think he has been drinking for sometime now..." Crawe said, pointing to the two empty bottles in his desk. When Elmont looked at them, they saw his eyes red, and slightly unfocused. The room smelled of wine.
"What do you want, Isabelle? Don't you think I said enough for one day or do you expect me to force her to talk? I can't, I said enough and I pushed her to far..." he said softly.
"That's not fair, Elmont."
"No?"
"No, we only want you happiness, we trying to help you"
He emptied his glass of wine and watched them.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at both of you... Well then... What do you want from me?"
"We only came to see if you were alright..." Elmont interrupted Crawe and opened his arms.
"As you can see I'm still in one piece" he sarcastically said. Crawe could see the hurt in his eyes
"Yes, you look fantastic Elmont" Isabelle said and he groan, clenching his jaw. Her hands covered her mouth "I'm sorry, Elmont, I didn't mean to..."
"You did... Don't try to apologise but listen, I don't want you here, I don't want any of you here..." I don't want any of you to see me this way "So please..."
"You think that drinking yourself into a stupor is better?"
"It worked..."
"It never worked for you... You awake feeling guilty and..."
"Then what?" he said, his voice hoarse.
"And what would you do if anyone made a second attempt to her life while you were in that state?"
"Then it will be my fault, all my fault but I will kill him and no one will stop me"
"What do you mean?" she looked confused to him and he shook his head.
"It doesn't matter... Leave me alone please..."
"No! She needs you... You made a promise, you said you would never give up on her!" Suddenly the glass felt from his hand and he hug his head.
"I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry Elissa..." he whispered as his body shook. Crawe approach him and wrapped an arm around his back.
"Elmont..." he whispered to his friend "Stop... Stop feeling guilt, stop... Its not your fault"
"It's my fault... I shouldn't have fall for her, I shouldn't have left her..."
"My friend, you could try to fight your heart but since you saw her for the first time, it wasn't yours anymore..." He sighed but then uttered a chuckle; not the kind made of joy or amusement, but the sarcastic, almost bitter sound that was made to help one cope with painful thoughts.
"Elmont..." he turned to look at Isabelle "Please..." he nodded.
No
Elissa wrapped her arms around herself as she stare through the window of her room, the bright light falling into the flower she loved so much. Elissa wanted to be in her hidden spot, she wanted to feel the peace and comfort it brought to her, feel the water against her skin but now she couldn't be there, it was Isabelle's birthday, she was turning eighteen, and Elissa was marrying in two weeks.
A tear slipped down her face and she was angry with herself. How could she have turn this shelve of a woman?
She loved him, and she barely knew herself now, the way she act or spoke she wasn't the same and she wasn't the only one thinking that way, even Isabelle and her father had said it to her in multiple occasions, and Keira had said that she wasn't their Elissa anymore. She hated herself. She wanted to figure things out, to discovered something of him and destroy him, as he wanted to destroy Elmont or kill Isabelle, wanted to make him suffer as he was doing with Elmont…
No, she thought, she was the one who had cause him pain and not Roderick; she was the cause of his despair, not Roderick.
But why? Why was Elmont so keen to make things worse for them?
I'm not giving up on you.
His words had stuck in her head and Elissa couldn't keep the small feel of joy that fill her.
Elissa closed her eyes, trying to suppress her thoughts, this was not the time to dread in such thoughts, this day was Isabelle's name day, and she was turning 18.
"Are you ready, Princess?" Lanna voice filled her ears and she turn to look at the handmaiden, a soft smile in her lips. A deep breath left her, she had forgotten for a moment that she wasn't alone in her room and Lanna was there.
"Lanna, please, I already ask you to call me Elissa… It's not like I had a choice to be princess," Elissa said with bitterness. Lanna wouldn't tell her, but she knew the source of her pain. "But anyway, how is Crawe?" the unexpected change of subject surprised Lanna and she couldn't stop the blush that appear in her face.
"Why should I know, pri… Elissa" a look of approval soon passed through her grey eyes.
"You two have passed sometime togheter this passed months and I have seen the way he looks at you and… the way you blush every time you know he's looking at you."
"There's nothing…" Elissa smile softly as she walk to the woman.
"There will be nothing if you don't have the courage to say something to him but I can say Crawe truly likes you…" Elissa's smile drop.
"If he does like me why can't he say it?" Lanna said, her hands gripping Elissa's dress and the princess eyes soften. She looked confused; she didn't know what to do and Elissa knew how she felt.
"He thinks you like Elmont, I always thought as well… I did saw you two kissing…" Lanna's blushed deepen.
"N-no…I mean I do like Elmont but I was wrong in thinking I loved him and kissing him was a mistake. It was I who kiss him not him… I'm so sorry, Princess…"
"You love Elmont as a friend and you like Crawe more than you think, why would you be sorry?" Lanna shook her head still blushing, she wasn't blind, and she knew that Elmont was suffering and Elissa too…
"I came to see if you were ready Princess"
"I am…" she softly said, turning around to look at sky, through the window "Is Isabelle ready?"
"Ready and very excited"
Elissa breathe deeply and a small smile appear in her face, Isabelle looked happy, her eyes shining with joy as she danced with James. He laugh and her sister join him, seeing them happy, her sister and cousin made her relax slightly. But she felt his eyes in her, following every move she made.
Roderick and left earlier with her father, saying he had to take care of something important but Wicke was still there, watching her, making sure she wouldn't make any mistake.
She saw Lanna dancing with Crawe, their happiness. The room was full of people, eating, dancing.
Elissa curse, she hated her situation, hated him and Roderick, she hated herself for being so weak. She turn to look at the window, in the garden she could see people walking, talking…
She heard footsteps behind her and knew who it was, even before he talked, her body tense.
"Princess… I came here to apologise to you for yesterday…" She turn around and saw his eyes shining with determination. He look so handsome, dress in his black trousers and his red shirt. "I shouldn't have pushed you but I did… And for that I'm sorry"
"And I shouldn't have acted the way I did…" Elissa looked away from him and saw Isabelle look at her, smiling. Elmont was smiling softly, a sad look past his eyes, she seemed tense around him.
"I didn't come here to talk about what happen" he saw her relax lightly.
"Thank You"
Elmont bowed, his eyes locked in her beautiful grey ones.
"Would you give the pleasure of dancing with me, Princess?" Elissa swallow, he look so handsome and his eyes were shining, she look away from him. A smile play in his lips when he give a step closer to her.
"Dancing with you would be considered inappropriate" Elmont shook his head lightly.
"It would be considered inappropriate if I was the Captain…"
"Which in fact you are" she pointed out and took a step back, Elmont smile softly seeing her distress, she was hiding something, he knew…
"I'm not here as the Captain but as Elmont, only as Elmont" Her heartbeat quicken as he took her hand and let her to the middle of the ballroom. "Relax…" Elmont whispered in her ear and Elissa closed her eyes, her breath caught in her throat. The feel of his body close to her was intoxicating "That's it…" Elmont wrapped his arm around her waist "You look beautiful, Elissa" he said and then she tense.
"Elmont, don't…"
She left him standing in the middle of the room but this time he wouldn't let her run from him. She left the room, passing Isabelle saying she wasn't feeling very well, then she turn around and saw him approaching her.
No
She pushed the heavy door and stepped into the hall.
"Elissa"
She had known he would follow her. A deep breath came out of her and when he said her name again, she could tell he was much closer this time.
His hand gripped her arm lightly, she jumped, taking a few step away from him.
"Elmont, what do you what?" Elissa turned around and began walking again.
"I want to talk to you. Tell me what happen there?" he said, keeping pace behind her.
"Let me breath please… I need…"
"Would you just stop for a moment and tell me what you need?" Elissa open a door and when she entered the room, he gripped her arm, forcing her to look at him "what's going on"
Elissa stop to look at him for a moment, a breath leaving her. He was suffocating her with his questions and his attentions and she could hardly breathe, she was trying to protect him. Why couldn't he see it?
"Please… Tell me what you need, I can't stand to see you in pain," he said softly.
She felt overwhelmed suddenly and a sob threat, beg for release but she wouldn't cry, she sounded weak and for her the past 2 or 3 months Elissa thought that she only had cried. She hated feeling so vulnerable, he made her vulnerable. Despite everything, despite the fact she had pushed him away, had hurt him saying she didn't love him and she had enjoyed playing with him, Elmont couldn't stop loving her and he was certain she loved him. Thinking in that way made him sound arrogant but he wanted to think himself as confident, he had promise to never give up on her and he didn't intend to do it.
He was standing close enough that she could smell him, could feel his warm. Elissa didn't know why but she certainly like to see the beard in his jaw, and she knew how it would feel if she let her fingertips caress it. But she did miss his goatee, his smile, his kisses and…
She decide she couldn't think again in the situation, she didn't want to feel empty, she wanted to feel loved, forget what had happen and live the moment and she wanted him.
"You…I need you Elmont…"
Elmont was caught completely off guard when Elissa stepped toward him, closing the distance between their bodies. She raised her lips to his and kissed him, tentatively, until she felt him respond, which he had tried not to do, at first but after a moment, he stopped trying to resist, and reached out to hold her waist as he let himself kiss her deeply. Slowly, he pulled away from her and forced himself to take a step back, although it was the last thing he wanted to do.
They couldn't, they needed to talk.
"Elissa…"
"Don't talk… Please…" she said, sounding breathless. He looked at her for a long moment before saying.
"We need to talk, I don't think…"
She moved toward him and cut off his words with another kiss, this one much more confident and hungrier than the first. He became lost in her, unaware of anything else. Her arms snaked around his neck while his wrapped around her waist, pulling her as close as possible. She broke the kiss, but only to move her lips to his neck, to suck and bite at him, and he groaned at the sensation before she moved back to his lips again.
"Don't say anything more…I need you," she whispered against his ear.
"Elissa, we really should…"
She moved her mouth to his and he lost every rational thought he had, the next time he remembered she was pressed against the wooden door of her room, his hot breath caressing her skin. His entire body shuddered with her next words.
"Make me yours again…" she said against his lips, as her hands worked their way under his shirt, stroking his skin, Elissa pull him with her, one hand wrapped around his neck, tugging him closer. "Make love to me"
They stood that way for a few moments, the air around them was suffocating, his jaw clenched, be around her was intoxicating. He gently pulled her hair to one side and lowered his mouth to her lips, slowly kissing her, and when she returned his kiss, there was no tenderness, only hunger.
Working his way down her neck, and heard her soft intake of breath. Elissa couldn't move, couldn't seem to breathe. Elmont's mouth felt amazing, and his hands felt strong and warm. She reached up behind her to run her hands through his hair, leaning her head to one side to expose more of her neck. She felt the vibration of his soft groan against her skin. He lifted her hair, trailed damp kisses across her neck, and now began attacking the other side, before lifting his lips to hers and kissing her roughly. Elissa returned the kiss in equal measure, this wasn't enough, she wanted more, feel more… Elmont tried to stop but when he felt her hands trailing down his chest, her nails scratching his skin he know he was lost and he couldn't stop. A groan came out of his mouth and when she hooked one leg over his hip, he didn't hesitate, refusing to let his mind interfere with the demands of his body. Instead, he lifted her slightly against the wall.
"Bed…" he whispered.
"No" it was only what she said and Elmont understood. The need was strong now, he help her take off her dress, she help him take off his shirt, and when he felt her breasts against his chest he groan lowly. The feel of her body against him felt so right, it had been so long for them…
When he kiss her again, there was no hesitation and she exhaled felling his hands caressing her breasts. Elissa pulled him against her, wanting to feel his body pressed against her and she rewarded him with a hungry, despaired kiss. Her hands trailed across his chest and down his stomach, then reaching around to caress the muscles of his back.
His hands left her hair and stroked down her back, reaching to cup her bottom and pull her up gently against him. Elissa let her lips move to his jaw, working her way to his neck, placing soft, warm kisses as she moved, licking and biting him gently. Her hands once again trailed from his chest down to his stomach, loving the feel of the light hair she could feel under her fingers. She moved them lower, pushing the material aside, slowly feeling him, stroking him lightly.
"Elissa…" he groan and when he stop her, Elmont hooked one arm under the leg wrapped around his hip, and pushed foward into her.
They both exhaled loudly, and he felt her breasts brushing against his chest, creating an intoxicating friction between their bodies. He bent forward to kiss her roughly and Elissa returned the kiss, and when he finally pulled away to catch his breath and look at her, as he slowly began to thrust in and out of her. Her eyes were closed, but he wanted to see them, needed to see what she was feeling.
"Elissa, look at me," he said, his voice hoarse. Instead, she lowered her head, hiding her face in his neck, and scratch her nails across the back of his neck before gripping his shoulders tightly, making him suck in his breath and push into her harder. "Open your eyes," he said, his voice stronger but she refused to meet his gaze. Elmont was able to grasp her chin with one hand and force it up so he could see her but Elissa kept her eyes closed, her breathing coming faster and harder as she was getting closer. "I love you," he whispered against her lips, he felt her body tensing and moved away from her lips to watch her face and his heart clenched when he saw a tear slip down from her eyes. "Don't…don't cry… Please, love…" his voice was stifled by the feeling of her climaxing around him, causing him to clutch her leg tightly as he thrust once, then again, before spilling inside of her. As soon as he was able, he moved his lips to her cheeks, kissing away her tears. "Please don't cry, love, don't cry," he whispered softly, his voice breaking. "I love you…"
She didn't respond, didn't react at all to his plea; her only action was to lower her head to his chest, her arms wrapped around his shoulders. They were both breathing heavily, and he knew he should probably move, but she still would not look at him, would not raise her eyes to his. He lowered his mouth to her shoulder, kissing her there gently, while his arms encircled her and lightly stroked over her back. His mind had spinning at the sight of her tears, and with all the possible implications of what had just happened.
"I love you…" he whispered.
