But here is an update, I read the story and finally had huge excitement to start writing this story again, I remembered everything I had planned for the story and can't wait for everyone to read! I hope you all enjoy this long awaited update!
Maura still sat in the bathroom, her eyes were no longer red and puffy instead they were dead looking she had cried out all the tears that she could until none were left. Who was she kidding she was in her late thirties trying for a baby, yes women of all ages had babies every day just recently a sixty-six year old woman had a baby. Sighing Maura looked in the mirror and shook her head, maybe her body was telling her that she just wasn't meant to carry a baby?
"Maur, you okay in there? I've knocked twice now, if I don't get a response I'm kicking the door down!" Jane sounded worried so taking a deep breath and letting it out Maura opened the door and smiled at Jane.
"I'm fine, I just got lost in thought." Maura beamed putting on a fake smile.
"Okay, anyways if you want I can call the doctor and we can schedule another appointment or we can wait since we have an appointment in a few days?" The question surprised Maura, looking at Jane as she washed her face and brushed her teeth Maura thought about what to say did she really want to go through another possible disappointment?
"Let's wait till the next appointment, besides the first round doesn't take so the doctor is probably prepared for a second round anyways." Maura smile who received a smile from Jane who walked up and kissed her gently then proceeded to go downstairs where the smell of pancakes had traveled from, she would give it one more chance.
Once downstairs she Jane rubbing Angela's back for whom had her head in her hands and looked to be in great pain, instantly kicking into doctor mode Maura walked up to Angela and asked what was wrong.
"My damn head, I've had a headache off and on for a week now it just won't stay away!" Angela groaned as she clasped her head and tears broke from her eyes, Jane looked at Maura with a face that said this is serious. Maura went and grabbed some headache medication and gave two pills to Angela, worry still on Maura's face.
"If you are still getting a headache for the next few days I recommend going to a doctor it could be something more serious." Swallowing the pills Angela nodded then sighed.
"Sean said the same thing, he actually wanted me to go yesterday but I started to feel fine. It just comes out of nowhere!"
"This one made you dizzy, has the others done that?" Jane asked with concern for her mother.
"No, that was a first it just hurt so bad." Angela replied as Maura guided her to a stool to sit down.
"You shouldn't go into work today especially with a dizzy spell that recent." Maura informed.
"Mr. Stanley will not be happy about that."
"Screw Stanley, Ma!" Jane jumped in causing Angela to wince at the loud tone of voice. "Sorry, Ma."
LATER AT BPD…
"Jane, Angela is fine."
"I'm not worried."
"Yes, you are and I understand her having constant headaches like that is not very good not to mention this last one made her dizzy. But if anything does happen Sean took the day off and is watching her he would tell us if something happened." And just as Maura finished speaking Jane's phone went off, instantly answering it Jane jumped out of her chair and took Maura's hand causing both of them to run at full speed.
"Jane, what happened?"
"Ma apparently had another dizzy spell and fell and bumped her head while Sean was in the bathroom he is taking her to the ER."
AT THE HOSPITAL…
Jane, Maura, Frankie, Tommy and Sean sat in the waiting room hoping to hear something about Angela.
"Family of Angela Cavanaugh?" A nurse asked allowed, the five stood up quickly and went to the nurse. "You can follow me back now."
Once in the room Sean went straight to Angela and hugged and kissed her while the others found a spot around the bed, Angela sat in the bed not looking too pleased with her state.
"What happened, Ma?" Jane asked instantly.
"I was in the kitchen making us lunch, I turned around to put the knife in the sink when everything started spinning after that I woke up to Sean and the paramedics." Angela shrugged showing that she didn't know or understand what was happening to her, Maura instantly started to become very worried.
"Hello, I am Doctor Callahan you must be the family." The doctor smiled as he opened up his file. "We have done blood work, and were going to be doing an x-ray but due to what the blood work has shown we cannot do that anymore but we will do a cat scan just to check your head."
"Why can't you do an x-ray?" Sean asked not understanding what the blood work had said.
"Mrs. Cavanaugh, how long have you been getting headaches?"
"Off and for a week but I had one a week before that so two weeks, why?"
"Has there been anything else that has been off lately; such as nausea or fatigue perhaps?"
"I have been tired but we were on our honeymoon not too long ago so I assumed time change and jet lag, nausea yes."
"When did the nausea happen?"
"Four maybe five days ago."
"Doctor Callahan, why are you asking my wife all of these questions what did the blood work say?"
"Well according to our blood work congratulations are in order, you're pregnant."
"WHAT!" Everyone in the room yelled."
"I know, especially given your age Mrs. Cavanaugh but we triple checked just to be sure and all tests came back positive but our calculations you are two almost three months along which explains your symptoms coming in full force. I am going to recommend you to an amazing doctor who specializes in high risk pregnancies, that is if you wish to keep the child I understand with the possible complications you might wish to seek alternate routes I can give you the name of a different doctor as well."
Angela sat frozen; Sean looked down at Angela then back up at the doctor.
"Could we have a moment to discuss this please?"
"Of course I'll be back in a few minutes with both cards." The doctor nodded and left leaving the small family perplexed. Maura looked at Angela couldn't help but feeling a well of jealousy, how come she could get pregnant at almost sixty but she couldn't shaking it off Maura tried to push down her anger.
"Angela, whatever you choose to do I will stand by you." Sean replied as he took ahold of Angela's hand, still not speaking Angela sat still shocked but this time tears running down her face.
"Ma?" All three of the Rizzoli children asked with worry as they each took a place on the bed so they could sit with their mom.
"I…I thought it was menopause my mother and grandmother went into menopause late so I thought it was all signs of that not…a baby. How can I have a baby, now I…I would be in my seventies when the child graduated high school if I even lived long enough to see that happen! But how can I have an abortion, I can't do that!" Angela started crying harder now, instantly Sean sat down next to her and held her.
"There is always adoption." Maura spoke up causing everyone to look at her. "The pregnancy is extremely high risk though, and so would the delivery but if you wanted to still go through with it you could still set up finding a family and they would pay for everything and also this way it would be open so if the child ever wanted to meet the two of you it could and also vice versa. If you don't want to go through with an abortion or with raising the child then I would suggest adoption." Maura finished as she looked the family matriarch in the eyes.
Angela looked at Sean who then looked at her a silent communication happening that no one else in the room could read.
"Does anyone else have an opinion?" Angela asked as she cleared her remaining tears from her face.
"I think whatever you choose to do Ma will be a good choice." Frankie responded that received agreement from Jane and Tommy just as Doctor Callahan stepped into the room two cards in his hands.
"Here are those doctors…"
"I don't need the one for the abortion." Angela responded; smiling and nodding she was handed the other card looking down at the card Angela smiled then looked at Maura who had her head tilted in wonder.
"Adoption sounds best." Angela smiled.
