Theme Song
Come on, come out, we don't have all day (Gray and Fortis try getting Durus, Leviculus, Fidens, and Magna out of bed with an annoyed look on their faces)
Let's do this adventure the right way (Gray runs down a road with Chase, Durus, Audino, Tara, Scyther, and her other Pokemon following)
We will look back on what we were (Fortis is pictured on a black canvas before faded images of a Vibrava and Flygon appear behind him in flames)
Even now, we're still unsure... (Team Purity's logo flashes on the screen, and Deus' masked faces appear)
What the future holds! (Gray's final team flashes by)
Be fast, grab your dreams and run (Trentavious, Savannah, and Marcus appear with their starters, and they smirk at Gray while Trent glares)
Look back, make sure to have fun (Gray, Chase, and Tara sit underneath a tree with their Pokemon while laughing)
Remember now, don't look back, Stay calm and give it a crack... (Gray and her Pokemon stand on a hill with Chase, Audino, Tara, and Scyther)
Pokemon!
Man, there are so many battles to write! Gah! Sorry for that little outburst, I'll start recapping now. Last chapter, Gray decided to do some last second training with her team, which led to some tension between a few of the Pokemon. Now, with the tournament starting, will Gray's Pokemon be able to snap out of their anger and win?
Guest: I am too, but I think the Saffron City will be a whole lot better, and there'll be higher stakes. And I like the predictions, though Gray would have several difficult challenges (her rivals) standing in her way
ShadowDragon9000: Tons of chapters have been done, I'm just trying to stay about ten ahead, just incase I decide to take a little break or something, though I doubt that'll happen. Top 16 would be a good place for Gray to finish, considering there are forty trainers ranked ahead of her. I guess we'll just have to see how far she'll go
Defender31415: Oh, things are really going to heat up next arc, especially with Gray's Pokemon, for several reasons that'll lead into the Fuchsia Arc. Top 8 would be a really good showing for Gray, though I don't think she's that strong yet. Of course, crazier things have happened, such as Owen failing to reach the top 8 in either Johto or Hoenn, and then suddenly getting to the championship in Sinnoh
Shion Rasenka: Yeah, that trio will be involved in some pretty tense moments for the most part, though I don't know if that will continue throughout the story. And the winner may be one of Gray's rivals. If it is, I'll probably reveal it during the Saffron City Tournament, but my plan for now (I never really follow these) is to have a random trainer win it
guest: Thank you, and they'll get a lot more attention from now to the end of Celadon, which I've almost finished, so they're going to get a lot of development. It's pretty fun writing about their interactions because there are only going to be six Pokemon, as opposed to Owen's team where I had to come up with a bunch of different personalities and balance and integrate them, so there should be a ton of interaction between Gray's Pokemon. Plus, I like the predictions!
MCMXCV: Thanks! And Leviculus will stay pretty bubbly, but he'll kind of take a backseat for a little bit when it comes to personalities being shown, because he won't want to get involved. Also, Fortis will be the peacemaker (along with Leviculus on occasion), and he'll be really good at maintaining peace, or defusing tension between the others. Top 16 would be a good spot for her, based on her skill, and top 8 could be good if I wanted to kind of shock you guys :)

"Remember to stay calm and try your hardest. There's no shame in losing when you leave everything on the battlefield," Tara said to Fidens and Magna. The newer Pokemon listened intently while Durus pretended to pay attention to the former Team Purity member's words, but she wasn't interested in any pep talks, unless they were being delivered by Gray, of course. "Good luck!"
"Thanks, Tara!" Fidens exclaimed as he bowed to the girl. Magna did the same while Durus nodded thankfully, but Chase walked over before Gray's Pokemon could escape.
"Good luck out there, everyone," the teen said, making Durus sigh in relief. The three Pokemon once again thanked Gray's traveling companions for the support, and they walked into the hallway Gray was standing in. The girl smiled when her Pokemon appeared, and she knelt down excitedly while announcements about the tournament were still going on.
"Are you two ready?" the girl inquired energetically.
"You bet!" Magna screamed before covering her mouth and apologizing for being so loud, which made Gray and Fidens laugh. Durus, however, chose not to partake in the friendly response, as she was trying to focus on the upcoming battle. "Durus? Earth to Durus!" The normal type snapped out of her zone and turned to look at Magna, who was smiling at her stupidly. She then pointed at Gray, and Durus looked over at her trainer, who extended her arm and began petting the feline.
"Durus, are you okay? You seem out of it right now."
"I'm fine. All I'm trying to do is focus." Gray nodded in response before scratching behind her starter's ear, which made Durus purr. Suddenly, a man with a headset on motioned for Gray to walk out to the battlefield, so she withdrew Magna and Fidens to their Pokeballs. The girl then walked down the hallway with Durus by her side, and they walked outside to a wave of applause. Both Gray and her Pokemon waved at the audience but stopped when they reached their trainer box and squared off with a girl standing across the battlefield.
"This will be a two versus two battle between Gray and Beth! Neither trainer may substitute her Pokemon, and the battle will be over when all Pokemon on one side have fainted. Now, choose your first Pokemon!" the referee shouted while the scoreboard behind him lit up.
"I choose you, Fidens!" Gray shouted as she released her first Pokemon from his Pokeball. The Pokeball exploded and revealed Gray's prehistoric Pokemon, who squawked confidently.
"It's your time to battle, Roselia!" Beth shouted while her first Pokemon, a Roselia, appeared. Both Pokemon watched as their pictures appeared on the scoreboard, and then they turned their attention to the referee.
"This battle will be between Fidens and Roselia! Because Beth is the higher seed, she has the first move!" Gray frowned at the announcement, but she shook off her displeasure as she focused on the battle.
"Roselia, start this with Razor Leaf!" Beth commanded confidently as she pointed at Fidens. The grass type flicked her arms towards Fidens, and a flurry of sharp leaves were sent flying towards the rock and flying type, who seemed nervous. He was calmed, however, after hearing Gray respond to the attack.
"Fidens, use Rock Throw to block the leaves, and then surround Roselia with Double Team!" After five boulders revolved around Fidens, the winged Pokemon threw them straight into the ground and they acted as a wall, which prevented the Razor Leaf from landing. He then copied himself, and several dozen Fidens clones surrounded Roselia, overwhelming the grass type.
"Spin and use Magical Leaf, Roselia!" Gray watched in shock as her opponent's Pokemon started to spin like a top before multicolored leaves flew in every direction and passed through Fidens' clones. Suddenly, the flying type was slashed by the accurate attack, and he cried out in pain before falling on his back. Despite the pain surging through his body, Fidens rose to his feet and charged at Roselia.
"Use Quick Attack to get close and then strike with Pluck!" Gray commanded. Fidens sprinted at mach speed and a white light trailed his body. His beak then started to glow white, and he jabbed Roselia in the face, making the grass type scream in pain as she rolled across the battlefield. Once she stopped in front of Beth, Roselia slowly rose to her feet and glared at Fidens, who was grinning confidently.
"Use Growth and then Giga Drain!" Roselia was suddenly engulfed in spiraling dark green energy before she shot a tornado of spinning green energy at Fidens. The tornado suddenly encapsulated the prehistoric bird and he squawked in pain while Gray and Durus looked on helplessly. A light suddenly went off in Gray's head as Fidens continued to squawk, and she punched her arm straight out.
"Fight through the pain and break through the tornado with Quick Attack!" Suddenly, Fidens sprinted out of the tornado and made his way towards Roselia and Beth, both of whom fell in shock. Grinning, Gray cleared her throat before issuing another command. "Now use Pluck again, Fidens!" Fidens' beak began to glow white once again and he leaped forwards. The attack struck its target, and Roselia was thrown into the wall behind Beth, who stared in shock.
"Roselia, get up and land a Razor Leaf!"
"Dodge it and finish this off with Wing Attack!" Gray countered as fast as she could. Fidens easily leaped over the wave of leaves despite panting in exhaustion, and his wings started to glow white. He then crashed down and slammed his wing over Roselia's head, knocking her out instantly.
"Roselia is unable to battle! Beth, choose your last Pokemon!" the referee shouted as Roselia's picture turned black. Fidens slowly fell to one knee, clearly fatigued from his battle, and a lack of motivation swept over his body, which Durus noticed immediately.
"Return, Roselia. Meditite, I choose you!" Beth yelled while sending out her second and final Pokemon. A Meditite appeared on the other end of the battlefield, and its picture occupied the spot underneath Roselia's. Fidens, meanwhile, remained on one knee in continued to pant before he lazily looked up at his opponent.
"This battle will be between Fidens and Meditite! Begin!"
"Fidens, start this off with Scary Face!" Gray shouted, wanting to lower her opponent's speed drastically. Fidens didn't listen, though, and Gray looked on in confusion as the rock type sat on his rear end and yawned. Durus glared daggers at the bird while her trainer continued to look on in disbelief, but Beth took the opportunity to strike.
"Meditite, use Hi Jump Kick!" the girl commanded as she kicked the air. Meditite quickly skied into the air before crashing down and kneeing Fidens in the stomach, slamming the winged Pokemon against the ground so hard a cloud of dust shot into the air while the audience winced at the sight.
"Whack 'em away with Wing Attack!" Gray yelled to Fidens. The rock type weakly smacked Meditite across the face, which confused the fighting type. Despite this, Beth called out another command, snapping Meditite out of his trance.
"Use Focus Punch now!" Meditite's fist was covered in a light blue coat of energy, and he reared back to punch Fidens in the face. Even though he could sense the power flowing from the attack, Fidens decided to stay stationary, which perplexed Gray. Meditite then punched Fidens in the face, and the flying type was sent bouncing across the battlefield before slamming into Durus, who was annoyed by Fidens' lack of spirit.
"Use Quick Attack!" Gray shouted, hoping her Pokemon would finally listen. Fidens slowly jogged over towards Meditite, who had more than enough time to react. Beth smirked as Fidens continued to show off his lack of determination to win, and she punched her hand straight above her head.
"Finish this with Brick Break!" Meditite's hands began to glow white and he slammed both of them over Fidens' head, knocking the Pokemon out cold. Durus angrily exhaled at the sight before turning to Gray, who had an annoying smile on her face.
"Fidens is unable to battle! Gray, choose your last Pokemon!"
"Thanks for the great work, Fidens," Gray said to the rock type while Durus glared at the Pokemon until he was zapped back into his Pokeball. "Magna, it's all up to you!" In a flash of light, Gray's Chingling appeared in front of her and jumped happily while her picture flashed on the scoreboard.
"This battle will be between Magna and Meditite! Begin!" Confusion, Yawn, Astonish, Uproar, Last Resort*
"This is going to be tough," Beth muttered to herself, realizing her Meditite's moves wouldn't be very effective against Magna. "Use Meditate, Meditite!" the girl commanded, wanting to raise her Pokemon's attack power. Meditite sat down and crossed his legs before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, trying to calm his mind.
"Don't let him do that, Magna! Uproar!" Gray screamed, trying to fire her Pokemon up. She didn't need to, though, because Magna was probably the most energetic of Gray's Pokemon. After hearing her command, Magna opened her mouth and shrieked at the top of her lungs, making everyone, including Meditite, cover their ears in pain. While she did so, Durus smiled at Magna's power, but she stopped because she didn't want anyone to see. The waves of sound quickly launched Meditite into the wall behind Beth, and the fighting type held his back in pain while standing up once again.
"If we can't do that, then we're going to have land as many attacks as possible. Use Brick Break as much as you can, Meditite!" Beth yelled loudly. Her Pokemon quickly made his way across the battlefield while his hands were glowing white, and he jumped before trying to strike Magna.
"Dodge it and use Yawn!" Magna quickly dipped away from the ferocious punch, and she shot a cloud of pink bubbles at Meditite, which popped and made the fighting type's eyes droop noticeably.
"Meditite, strike with Focus Punch!" Beth commanded as she failed to notice her Pokemon yawning. Meditite yawned before his hand started to glow light blue, and he reared his arm back before throwing it forwards. The attack landed and dealt a massive amount of damage to the bell.
"Hang in there, Magna. Wait for it..." Gray whispered to her Pokemon, who nodded in response. Beth grinned at Gray's reluctance to attack, and she cracked her knuckles before issuing another command.
"Now strike with Brick Break!" Before Meditite could do anything, he fell on his face and passed out. "Meditite, get up! What's wrong?" Beth screamed while trying to think of why her Pokemon was passed out on the ground. Gray, meanwhile, smirked alongside Magna, who was getting ready to scream her heart out while Durus was preparing to cover her ears.
"Wrap this up with another Uproar, Magna!" Magna slowly walked up to Meditite and cleared her throat before her mouth shot wide open. An ear piercing scream blasted out of her mouth and Meditite was launched across the battlefield at the speed of a bullet, and he slammed into Beth, who fell over in pain before seeing Meditite was down for the count.
"Meditite is unable to battle! Gray and Magna are the winners, and will be moving on to the second round of the tournament!" the referee shouted while pointing at Gray and Magna, who cheered happily before embracing. The celebrating stopped, however, when Gray was escorted off the battlefield, and she walked into the trainer room, only to meet a wave of other trainers, who stared at her and began whispering.
"Awesome job out there, Magna!" Tara and Chase said in unison while smiling at Magna, who blushed at the attention. Durus then patted the bell on the head, which made her smile, and Gray let out a sigh of relief she had been holding in during the battle.
"Wow, I can't believe we managed to pull that off. Well done, Magna. Now all we have to do is win five more battles, and we'll get some badge credit!" Gray exclaimed before sitting down in a chair with the intention of watching every battle.
Well, Fidens made things a little too close for comfort, but at least Magna was able to pull off a pretty dominant win. Thanks to Magna's efforts, Gray will be moving on to the second round (32 people), but she'll be tasked with taking down one of her rivals. Also, I wanted to let y'all know I just finished chapter 40, so I'm actually done with the Celadon Arc. Posts will still be every couple of days just incase I decide to change how the story will go... so yeah. Till next time, peace out.
Next Chapter: "Rival Revenge": Now in the top 32, Gray must defeat Trentavious if she wants to advance to the next round. With revenge on her mind, and that of Durus', will Gray be able to take down her number one rival?
