A/N: I know I'm the WORST updater ever! I'll take my award anytime now. It's been way too long, and this is something I've always done to relieve stress, so now I'm hopefully back for good. A lot has happened since I was on here, including the release of the last Bloodlines novel. Some things may still fit, while some may not, but I'm going to continue on in here as if it all makes sense. I don't know if anyone is still into this, but I'd love to hear your thoughts if some of you are still out there.

Prompt: Married
Words: 421
POV: Rose

"MARRIED?! Now they think it's a good time to get married?! What happened to the last 18 years? I didn't even know who the man was until a few months ago." I rolled my eyes and felt the confusion written all over my face.

Dimitri looked over at me as we continued walking back to our townhouse at court. I could tell he was looking for the right words that wouldn't send me further over the edge.

We'd just left dinner with my parents. I would have bet absolutely anything all they were going to do was grill Dimitri and me with questions about the course of our relationship.

Hell they did do that throughout the main course, but then came dessert… I would have lost.

I could still see Janine looking over at Abe while he made the announcement and she showed me her ring. She looked like she'd won the lottery, or I guess in her case, she looked like she was standing over a pile of dead strigoi which she single handedly took down. It made me sick.

"You think she's knocked up? I think so. I mean why else would they be getting married now?! They're so old. I mean I guess I would be a cool big sister. But still, ew. You know what they'd have to be doing to make another kid?! Oh, God. " I was rambling, and felt like I could lose my dinner over the mental image.

Dimitri looked like he was caught between wanting to laugh, and rolling his eyes.

"Roza, don't you think you're being just a tad bit dramatic?" He paused and waited for me to objet, but instead I let him continue. "Most people wouldn't be so upset that their parents would want to get married. Your mother made a very successful career for herself, and your father stood back, let her become who she wanted to be, and stayed faithful to her the entire time. It seems like they're getting married for the right reasons to me. If they feel only a fraction of what I feel for you, I understand it completely."

Well he did have a point.

"I guess you're not wrong," I stopped walking.

He looked taken aback, and stopped a few steps ahead of me. "Did you just admit I was right?" He turned to face me slowly.

I rolled my eyes and stepped up to wrap his hand in mine. "I didn't say you were right, I just admitted you weren't wrong."
