Summer's POV
I woke up to see it was dark outside. The room I was in was dark, I could see the streetlamp shining through the window. Andrew was looking over me still, Nan looked asleep.
"Sum!" Andrew whispered. I could still see he was in his suit.
"Hey" I whispered. He kissed my forehead. "Have you gone to eat yet?" I whispered. I looked over at Nan, she snored a little bit, then moved her head.
"Nope, I'm fine though. I think Karl wants you to have tests, so do you want me to go and get him?" Andrew whispered.
"Wait a minute..." I whispered, pulling myself up to kiss him.
"Summer!" Nan hissed, I was still kissing Andrew.
"You need to have your blood tests young lady" A voice like Karl's said, he turned on the light. It was Karl, he saw me pulling away from Andrew quickly.
"Umm, I think you need to leave, Andrew, and Lyn" He said, looking at Andrew like he broke the law. Andrew walked out, looking at me 'i love you' he mouthed. Karl pulled out the stuff for the blood test. I hated blood. It made me faint sometimes. I could see Andrew looking at me through the door. I smiled bravely and then turned away as Karl put the band thing around my arm. I felt myself shaking.
"I've got a zombie bandaid, if you want it" Karl said, holding out the bandaid. I smiled and laughed at the bandaid.
"Yeah.. You've won me over" I said, looking away as Karl put the needle into my arm.
"Owww" I screamed, I felt the bandaid being put on to my arm. I breathed out and looked as Andrew walked back in. Karl stood up and walked out putting the tube and needle in a bag. I shuddered, then felt Andrew put his arms around me. Nan stood at the door smiling, just like I did. Nan walked in and sat where she was before.
"Nan, what's the time?" I asked. She looked at her watch.
"It's 4am. You slept for ages sweetie" Nan replied. "Do you want a drink or anything?" Nan asked. I looked at Andrew, he nodded.
"Umm, can you please bring us a jug of water?" I replied. I heard a knock at the door, I was still hugging Andrew. Nan got up and opened it as she walked out.
"Hi Summer, I hope you're feeling better. I have your bags here with me. I'll get your Nan to help me, I'll leave you and Andrew to it then..." Libby said, turning away.
"Wait.. Libby" I called out. She peered back around the door. "Thanks so much for everything" I said, smiling.
"It's alright" She smiled, then walked back out again. Another group of people came to my door now. They walked in without looking at me. I could tell they had been crying.
"Are you Summer Hoyland?" The tallest girl asked. I nodded. "Your Dad was in an accident" She continued. I felt tears swell up in my eyes.
"Who are you?" I whispered. Andrew hugged me tighter.
"We're your half sisters. I'm Paris, this is Ana and this is Louise" She said pointing to each of the girls.
"Our Dad was in his car coming home from work, and the car got hit by a truck" Paris explained. I started to cry, how could my own Dad have an affair. Ana looked a bit younger than me, Louise looked my age and Paris looked older. I felt sick, I was so mixed up. My Dad could die, but he had children with another lady. I burst out in tears. I looked up at Andrew, he looked confused, he still had me tightly in his arms. Why couldn't he tell us the truth.
"Here's the hospital he's in" Ana said, stepping forward and passing the bit of paper to me. I took it from her and passed it to Andrew.
"This is far away..." He said as he looked at the paper. I wanted to get out of that stupid hospital and go to my dad. Nan walked back in with Libby. My step sisters turned and faced her.
"Are you Summer's friends?" Nan asked. The three of them turned to eachother and sighed.
"Umm.. No, we're her step sisters. We must get back to the hospital now. Bye." Louise said as she smiled at me. They walked out the door and Nan came running to me.
"Love are you ok? Who's in hospital?" She said, putting her arm on my shoulder.
"It's Dad... No, I'm not ok" I said, bursting back into tears. Andrew pulled out his phone.
"Dad, Summer and I need to get to Ballarat asap!" He said into the phone. I smiled at him through my tears.
"Yep, I'll ask straight away. We'll come and get a few things from home so get them to pick us up at 8, outside our house. Ok, Bye" Andrew said, putting down the phone.
"We can go to your dad, at 8. If Karl says you are ok. Don't worry about the cost, my Dad's got it all covered" He said, smiling.
"Thanks! You're the best" I said, kissing him. Libby stood at the door quietly putting down my bags.
"Summer, I hope your Dad is ok" She said as she walked away, I smiled at her and turned to Nan.
"You should stay and look after Charlie, Andrew and I will be fine" I said, wiping away the tears with the sleeve of the hospital gown.
"Nan.. Can you see if Karl is there? So I can find out if I can go.." I asked.
"Anything you want dear" Nan replied, as she stood up.
"I know what it feels like.." Andrew said, pulling me close. "I mean, I have lots of step sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers. All because of my Dad.." Andrew said. "You know, I heard a story that once, my Dad and your Nan got married" He said, laughing. I laughed too, but it hurt my heart. I wanted to ask my Dad if it was the truth. I needed to hear it from him. Nan walked back in with Karl.
"Well Summer, I'm sorry about your Dad. You can go to be with him, but Andrew. Make sure she sleeps well at night and doesn't drink coffee... Don't you work out too much, so no running for you.. Also, we found traces of energy drink in your blood. I've told you not to drink that!" Karl said, glaring at me. I didn't drink it... I've only drunk cordial, water and juice.
"Umm.. I haven't had any of the energy drinks.. I've only had juice, cordial and water" I said, puzzled.
"Well, think Summer. Maybe you should read the labels on what you drink from now on" Karl said, smiling.
"But you can go now.. Just Lyn and Andrew need to get out, then you can get changed and you'll be fine to go" Karl said as I heard the birds wake everyone up. The sun started to peer through the window. Karl walked out, so I quickly walked to the bags and pulled out my jeans and a singlet and put them on. I threw the hospital gown down onto the bed and opened the door. Andrew came in and picked up the bags.
"You ready?" Andrew asked. I nodded and walked away. Nan was standing at the desk talking to the receptionist. I was nervous to go and see my Dad. I felt like I was going to explode at him, I needed to see Boyd. I needed to talk to him. I looked over and saw Susan sitting in their car. They were obviously taking us home.
"Summer, are you ok?" Susan asked as she closed the door, getting out.
"Yeah, thanks Susan" I said, pulling off a brave smile. Susan walked around to open the boot of the car. Andrew put down our bags there.
"You two can go in the back.." She said, as she opened the door. I smiled at her as I got in.
"Thanks" Andrew said, climbing in after me. I clicked in my seatbelt when Susan started the engine. We sat there in silence, until we got let out.
"Thanks so much Susan" Andrew and I said as we got out. I looked over and saw a limo parked outside Andrew's house.
"I think that's for us" He said as he pointed to the limo. "Do you want to go inside your house or mine?" Andrew asked.
"Umm, nah I'm fine, but if you go to your house, I'll go with you" I said. I couldn't believe that was for me and Andrew.
"We have to go to my Dad for something though" Andrew said. Paul appeared out of his house, he walked over to me and Andrew.
"There you go, get in when you're ready" Paul said, pointing at the limo.
"Wow, thanks Paul" I said, staring at the limo.
"It's nothing, really. You're with my son now, so you get the special treatment" He said. I felt honoured, it's not every day that your boyfriend's dad chooses a limo for you to ride in.
"Thanks Dad!" Andrew said. The driver took our bags from Susan's car and put them in the boot. Then he walked around and opened the door.
"So, where are you two going?" He asked. Andrew handed him the paper I got given.
"Ahhh" He sighed. I felt butterflies all over my tummy. I felt my hands becoming sweaty and my forehead too.
