Lily wanted to sleep in James' bed so badly that night, but she decided to move to the chair. She didn't think the Healers would be very happy with her in James' bed. Lily and James were awoken the next morning by the same Healer the day before.
"Good news, Mr Potter. There doesn't seem to be any permanent damage, so you are free to go today." The old lady told them as she bustled around the room scribbling on her clipboard.
"Really?" James exclaimed. He couldn't wait to get out of here; he hated being cooped up more than anything else. "What time can I leave?"
"As soon as you feel you are up to it and Mr Dumbledore arrives." She told them. "Of course, if you feel the need for more time here then you're welcome to stay."
He shook his head firmly. "I'm feeling absolutely fine."
The Healer smiled and nodded knowingly before leaving, closing the door behind her.
Lily got up from her awkward positon on the chair and stretched. She opened the curtains and let the light stream in. James got up too, stretching his arms out. He didn't seem to be in pain anymore which Lily was glad to see. There wasn't much to do, seeing as James hadn't exactly brought anything with him. All they had to do now was wait for Dumbledore to come.
"What time is it?" Lily asked, sitting down next to James and resting her head on his shoulder.
James checked his watching. "Ten forty-five. Did Dumbledore say anything about what time he was picking us up?" Lily shook her head in response. They sat together quietly, James tracing circles on her hand.
"Yeah... What do you mean? You're the one that was hurt." She said, giving him an odd look.
"I mean, after last night? Because you were acting a little off." He said cautiously.
"No I wasn't."
"Lily..." He warned.
She sighed. "Okay, I was acting odd. And yes, I'm fine now. I don't know what was wrong with me."
"That's good." He said simply, slipping an arm around her waist. "You know what?" He asked suddenly.
"What?"
"I still can't believe you're mine." He said, pulling her close. Lily giggled.
"I still can't believe I said yes to you." James laughed at that.
"I did save your life, remember?" He teased and Lily shoved him.
"Don't remind me." She grinned. James turned her face to look at him. He gave her a quick peck on the nose and smiled. She looked up into his warm hazel eyes and smiled back.
There was a knock on the door and Dumbledore walked in. "I am glad to see you are still functioning, Mr Potter." Dumbledore smiled, his eyes twinkling as they always did.
"Thanks, sir." James grinned, standing up.
"And how are you, Miss Evans?" He asked, his eyes piercings through her.
"I'm doing fine thanks, sir." She replied.
"We best be off then." Dumbledore announced. They followed him through St Mungos and out into the streets of London. Dumbledore told them that he had lifted the enchantment from his office for the time being, so that they were able to apparate straight there. Lily turned on the spot and appeared in Dumbledore's office at the same time as James. They thanked the professor and went to find their friends.
"Hang on; they'll still be in classes." Lily remembered as they walked down the corridors. It scared her how many classes she had missed this year. That had never happened before she met James.
"We have some time to kill then. What do you want to do?" James asked.
"Honestly, for now I just want to relax." She told him truthfully.
"Good idea." James replied, pushing open the door to the Heads Common Room.
"Then tonight, Morgan and Louise are sleeping over so I'm going to have to kick you out again." Lily grinned. James tolled his eyes. Women and their 'girl time', he thought to himself. They plonked down on the couch and melted into each other.
"Finally," James sighed. "Normal, peace and quiet."
"Mmm." Lily agreed. She turned and looked up at James. He caressed her cheek and kissed her lips tenderly. Her mouth tingled as she kissed him harder, sliding her hands up his chest.
James shuddered with longing, wanting to kiss every inch of her skin, feel her body against his. He loved this woman more than he could every love anyone. He grabbed her waist, pulling her on top of him. Lily straddled his hips, feeling his hands slide up her back and then down to her waist again. She ground against him, her tongue exploring his. James could sense a change in her. She had this new fiery passion he couldn't explain. This time he knew she wasn't hesitant.
He stood up, Lily still pinned against his body. He carried her to his bedroom, laying her down softly. He hovered over her, trailing kisses down her neck. He unzipped her jacked and helped her shrug it off as she began to pull his t-shirt over his head too.
Lily kept kissing James fiercely as her hands travelled along his broad shoulders and down his bare back. James practically tipped her tank top off, leaving her in only jeans and a bra. James ran his hands down her side, making her shiver. He gripped her thigh as Lilt arched against him. His touch on her skin was like fire, sending pleasure coursing through her veins. She couldn't get close enough. Lily wanted all of him.
Her heart sped up as James unzipped her jeans, pulling them down from her hips. Lily was quick to undo his belt, pulling it off. James broke the kiss so he could help her slide his jeans off too. The sight in front of him was one of immense beauty. Her creamy skin pushed against his, her silky hair sprawled out on the pillow around her face. Only thin pieces of fabric separated them now.
"I hate to ask this now," James panted. "But are you sure?"
Lily looked up at him, her breath coming out in ragged bursts. She had never been so sure of something in her life. Her body yearned for him, wanting to be connected by something deeper than just emotions. James would be her first, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
"I want you, James. I need you." She told him. That was all he needed. He continued removing any remaining pieces of clothing that restricted him of her. This was it. He couldn't be happier.
They made love that afternoon. Lily had always imagined being naked in front of someone as embarrassing, but it wasn't. It was thrilling. It was natural. She hadn't been in this situation with any other guy before. She had never seen another man naked before but James didn't disappoint.
He was gentle and loving with her, as though she may break if he touched her too hard. He was considerate of the fact that she wasn't exactly experienced. And yes, it hurt as it usually does, but it wasn't bearable. James was slow and careful with her. It wasn't as bad as she had imagined.
As for the good part, well, Lily had never felt more alive before. She'd finally done the deed. With the man she loves and always would.
They stayed together under the covers, not bothering to get dressed. James ran a hand up her side, sliding over her breast...accidently. Lily let out a moan.
"Not again," she breathed, closing her eyes. "Not now." She was still a bit sensitive, but she didn't want to tell him that.
James chuckled. "Okay."
Lily looked at her watch as she rubbed her eyes. "Time for dinner." She got out of bed and fished around for her clothes, slightly self-conscious of James watching her. Her underpants had disappeared somewhere and she couldn't be bothered searching for them.
"Kinky." James grinned as she slid her pants on without underpants.
Lily rolled her eyes and threw a pillow at his face. She'd just get another pair from her room before they left...
"Come on, Sex God, get up." She laughed, zipping her jacket back up and tried to tame her crazy hair.
"Sex God? I like it." James grinned.
James got up and dressed too, both of them making themselves presentable for dinner. James and Lily walked into the Great Hall seeing all their friends sitting together. Lily slid in and sat next to Morgan and Louise.
"I have to tell you guys something." She whispered, leaning in and grinning. They leaned in close too, aware of the boys trying to listen.
"What is it?" Louise whispered back, shooting a look at Remus who was trying to lean in too.
"Later." Lily hissed back, glancing at James who kept his head down but had a smirk on his face. Lily hacked into her food, not noticing how hungry she was after their little... bed exercise. She loaded some food on her plate and ate as she talked to Louise and Morgan.
"Anything interesting happen while we were away?" Lily asked.
"Nothing really," Morgan replied. "Although, I heard briefly what happened with you guys."
At first Lily thought she was referring to what happened earlier this afternoon. Then she realised Morgan was talking about the Death Eater attack. "Oh, right. That. Let's talk about that later. Do you guys want to stay over tonight?" Lily asked.
"Definitely." Morgan grinned. "Now that I think about it, I do have some things to tell you about Dog Boy over here." She gestured to Sirius who was too busy eating to notice the girls talking about him.
"What happened?" Lily asked curiously. They had been so on and off lately, she was keen to find out how they were going now.
"Oh God, you do not want to know." Louise said.
The feast finished and Lily told the girls to grab their stuff while she checked James was set to go. She made her way to the Heads Common Room and found him ready to leave with a duffle bag over his shoulder.
"I don't want to leave you tonight." James said, kissing her lips.
"Why? Because you want to sleep with me again?" Lily grinned and James laughed.
"Why would you think that? Maybe I just want to spend time with you!" he said, pretending to be hurt by her accusation.
Lily laughed, kissing her jaw. "Sorry, baby, but the girls and I have some catching up to do." She crinkled her nose at how cliché that sounded.
"Fine," James grinned. "I understand." He pulled her close with his free hand and slid his hand down to her butt.
"Oi!" She exclaimed, smacking his hand away. "Go on, get out of here." She pushed him towards the door.
"Good bye, angel. I love you."
"Yeah yeah, I love you too, now go away." She grinned mischievously and slammed the door in his face. She lounged on the couch and waited for Morgan and Louise to come. Damn, they had a lot of stuff to talk about. Plus, she was excited to tell them about this afternoon. Her stomach fluttered every time she thought about it.
She felt different somehow. She felt older, freer. She was so glad that she hadn't chickened out this time. And luckily, today wasn't the only day they'd spend together in bed. They had their whole lives ahead of them, if they survived this war against his Voldemort. But as long as James was by her side, she'd always have hope.
