Mako and Korra were back at home, it was finally summer. And they both had jobs at Narooks again, Mako the head cook and manager, and Korra as a waitress. Narook loved them both very much, as if they were his own grandchildren. Though he had none of his own...

"Jace, Ikola, Bolin, and Asami are all asking us to go to the bonfire tomorrow night." Korra said drying her hair after her shower.

Mako finished shaving, yes he had to do that sometimes, and wiped the shaving cream off of his face. "Then let's go. We get off of work at six tomorrow anyways. What time does it start?"

"We don't have to be there until 7:30." Korra said changing into her waitress clothing.

"And where is 'there' exactly?" He asked hugging her from behind.

"I don't actually know. Jace said he and Ikola would pick us up and take us there." She said.

Mako let her go so that she could put on her shirt and then he changed into his work clothes.

"You know I loooooove you." Mako said with a goofy grin on his face.

Korra giggled, "Yes I know, and I love you too."

His grin grew and he picked her up and brought her downstairs in his arms. He set her down in the kitchen and made them both some breakfast, and soon enough they were off to work.

"Mako! Korra!" Narook greeted them like he did everyday. Cheerful and bright.

"Hey Narook." Korra laughed giving him a hug.

Mako smiled and gave him and one-armed hug.

"Okay! So Korra, sweetheart, can you please wipe the tables off? I don't think the waitress last night ever did." He asked her with the sweetest smile.

"Yes sir!" She said and then skipped to the tables, singing a song and started to wipe them down.

Mako chuckled and then turned to Narook, "And me sir?"

"Just go get the food ready for the day." Narook said with his big smile.

Mako nodded and went to the kitchen, they didn't open for another thirty minutes. He passed Korra on the way to the kitchen and twirled her around. She laughed and then went back to cleaning the tables, still singing.

Narook chuckled and shook his head, "Those two. So cute." He mumbled and then went into his office to do some paperwork.

Soon enough it was opening time and people swarmed in. Mostly locals, once you came here once you were bound to come again. Because the food was great and everyone was mighty kind.

Korra went to the front when she saw a family of four. The mom and the dad and the two little kids.

"Hello, how many?" She asked taking out four menus.

"Four." The man said taking his wife's hand.

She smiled and led them to a table.

"And what can I get you all to drink?" She asked.

They all ordered and Korra went back to the kitchen to get the drinks.

"Hey." Mako said giving her a quick kiss.

"Hey, wish I could stay and chat but gotta go give the customers their drinks." She said and then ran back out. She wasn't the only waitress, but she was by far the busiest.

Finally when it was break time, she and Mako went about their normal routine. They went to their normal booth and sat down. Eating some of the leftover food that Mako had made earlier that day.

"I can't believe it's only one. It feels like we've worked all day." Korra said taking a large gulp of water.

"Yeah, but at least we get off early today. Five o'clock, and tonight I plan on just being at home with you. A nice relaxing night." Mako said leaning over the table to kiss her.

She grinned and leaned across the table to kiss him.

"Hey you two! Not in front of the customers!" They heard a familiar voice say.

They broke apart and looked up to see Bolin and Asami standing there with smirks on their faces.

"Hey guys." Korra said.

"Hey, scoot." Asami said sitting down in the booth.

Korra scooted over and Asami sat down, Mako and Bolin did the same.

"So, y'all looking forward to the bonfire tomorrow night?" Bolin asked leaning back in the booth.

Korra looked over at Mako who shrugged, "I guess. It'll be nice to get out, even though I'm perfectly okay being home with Korra."

"Yeah, I agree. I mean it's nice coming home to you and ya know. Being with you, but it will be nice to go somewhere and get out." Korra agreed.

"Jeez, you two sound like old people with no lives..." Bolin said.

Mako chuckled, "Well when we have to work all the time. It just kind of happens."

"At least we get to work together." Korra said.

"That's great, I'm really happy that you two can do this job." Asami said with her bright smile.

"And I haven't really talked to Jace in a while, so that will be great too." Korra said.

When Bolin and Asami left, Korra and Mako got back to work. And the day went by pretty quickly, even though to Korra it felt like forever.

"Ready to go, love?" Mako asked after saying goodbye to Narook.

Korra smiled and nodded, looping her arm through his.

When they got home, they got changed into some comfortable clothes and Mako cooked up a quick dinner. Korra came into the kitchen and stood next to him as he cooked the meat.

"Can I help?" She asked. "They're just Taco's so I don't think I can mess it up too badly."

Mako chuckled and nodded, "Be my guest."

He moved behind her and helped her with the meat. Wrapping his arms around her waist and whispered in her ear what to do.

"Mako. You're distracting me!" Korra giggled.

"Mmmm, sorry." He mumbled and then backed up and turned off the stove top. "I think it's done."

She smiled proudly, "I did a good job didn't I." She said, not much of a question but more a statement.

"You did, these are delicious!" He said taking a bite.

When they finished dinner, they retired to the living room and just relaxed as they watched the Big Bang Theory.

"Oh god, what's wrong with Sheldon?" Korra asked.

Mako laughed, "He's nuts! That's whats so funny!"

She snuggled closer to Mako and he wrapped his arms around her. They laid down on the couch, her head rested on his chest and he was rubbing her back.

Mako changed the channel to the movie, "A Walk To Remember."

"You ever read this book?" Korra asked.

"No, I only ever saw the movie once before. And that was only because Bolin had Asami over when they first started dating and wanted me there. Don't ask why, he just did." Mako said.

"I've never seen this movie, only read the book. And it made me cry, multiple times." She said quietly.

Mako kissed the top of her head, "That's okay, I'll admit I had a few tears in my eyes when I saw it."

She laughed and looked up at him, "Really?"

He nodded, "Now shush! I'm trying to watch!"

She rolled her eyes and turned her gaze towards the TV. She cried in all the parts she cried in during the book and Mako held her close.

He was sad too, knowing this could always happen to Korra. This story wasn't all fiction, it could all happen. It made him appreciate every moment he had with Korra and it made him cherish it all. When it ended, he had a few tears in his eyes and Korra was sobbing.

"So. Good." She said.

He nodded and they got up, "Want a snack? I'm kinda hungry, all I had today was really dinner."

"Yeah sure, popcorn?" She asked.

"Sure."

He came back in with popcorn and sat back down as they watched some more TV. By ten, nothing good was coming on so they went upstairs.

"Kor, I love you." He said leaning down and kissing her.

She smiled, "I love you too."

For at least another hour they just talked about random things. Until finally Mako thought it was time to do what he had wanted to do since he had first met Korra.

He reached for his guitar and Korra smiled at him, she always loved it when he played his guitar.

"Any requests?" He asked.

"The first song you played for me, 'And I love her.' I think it was." She said.

He smiled and started to play it for her, looking her in the eyes as she played.

"I give her all my love.
That's all I do.
And if you saw my love,
you'd love her too.

I love her

She gives me everything
And tenderly
The kiss my lover brings,
She brings to me.

And I love her

A love like ours,
could never die.
As long as I,
have you near me.

He got off the bed and went to the floor in front of her. He went down on his knees since the bed was low to the ground.

Bright are the stars that shine.
Dark as the sky.
I know this love of mine,
will never die.

And I love her.

Bright as the stars that shine.
Dark as the sky.
I know this love of mine,
will never die.

And I love her"

When he finished the song he set his guitar on the side and pulled out a little black box from his pocket and looked her in the eyes. He opened the box to reveal a blue diamond. It may of not been big, but it was there and beautiful. And she gasped.

"Korra, I love you so, so, so much. You know that. And I know we are still in college and we are still working on getting an actual job, but that doesn't change the fact that I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. I mean we live together! And I couldn't wait any longer to ask you. So Korra, love of my life, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" Mako asked, his love for her obvious in his words and eyes.

She couldn't make a sound but nodded and he stood up to twirl her around the room. He kissed her over and over again while she giggled in his arms, hugging him tightly. When he set her down he put the ring on her finger.

"Thank you Korra, for making me the happiest man alive." He whispered into her ear.

She kissed him and then they fell on the bed, "I love you, Mako."

"I love you, too."

Okay, OMG it's been forever! And I'm so sorry but school has been really stressful lately!
