Hey guys! Its time for another chapter! This is my longest one to date! Took me around 12 hours to write, my wrists are cramping so hard! Thank you to all who reviewed, favoured and alerted this story! You guys are so awesome it makes me so happy! Now this chapter I've had to mess around with the timeline a bit, some events happen at different times than they did in the episode, sorry about that!

So ThePrettyRecklessRock came up with a brilliant name for Alex and Abaddon that they had allowed me to take from them which is Alexdon. Thank you for the brilliant name and letting me use it!

I've put links to the prom dresses on my profile so you can have a look at them there! Tell me if you agree with the choice Alex makes!

Enough delay, you've waited long enough so on with Chapter 29

Disclaimer - I only own Alex and the plot, they are mine.

Dangerous Liaisons

I was standing outside Ric's hospital room with Elena and Matt. We had managed to get him to agree to stay overnight, after a long conversation that no one wanted. Matt turned away from the window that faced into Ric's room.

"How's Mr. Saltzman?" Matt asked. It was weird to hear someone call Ric by his last name as I was so used to either Alaric or just Ric.

"Resigned to spending the night in observation, so long as we promise to change the locks on the house," I answered.

"So I talked to Bonnie earlier," Elena said, changing the subject. "She and her mom are fine."

"When did she find her mom?" I asked.

"Oh right, you weren't here for that," Elena said. "We went to find Bonnie's mom so she could help Bonnie try and open the last coffin," She explained as we started to make our way out of the hospital.

"Right," I nodded, feeling slightly out of the loop.

"Have you talked to Caroline?" Elena asked Matt and me.

"Not since that night at her house," I said, feeling slightly bad about it.

"Yeah, she's holding it together, considering how close she and her dad used to be," Matt told us. "Any word on who's behind these attacks?"

"No, Sheriff Forbes said there's no real suspects at all," Elena sighed. We stopped in the hospital parking lot.

"How are you dealing with everything?" I asked Matt. "I mean you keep getting dragged into all of this."

"Honestly...I'm kind of lucky, the only thing I have to worry about for tomorrow, is showing up for my shift at the grill," He smiled. Elena and I chuckled slightly.

"Thank you, for everything today, really," Elena said, smiling.

"Get home safe, girls," He told us, before getting into his car and driving away.

"Home again, home again, jiggety-jig," I said with a sigh. Elena laughed and we got into her car.

She started up the engine and the car moved forward slightly before the car wheels bounced up and a thud was heard.

"Did you just drive over something?" I half shouted at my sister. She looked at me in shock and we got out of the car. There was nothing around us, on the floor or anywhere. I walked to the other side of the car from Elena.

"Drive much?" I heard Rebekah's voice say.

"Rebekah," Elena whispered. The car then moved towards me slightly as my sister was rammed against the side of the car.

"Surprised? You drove a dagger through my back, Elena. It hurt," Rebekah bit out. Her face changed and she tried to bite my sister. Elena screamed in fear.

"Rebekah stop," I yelled from the other side of the car, making my way towards the Original.

"I'd listen to Alex, Rebekah. You know what she's capable of," A voice said from behind me. I looked around to see Elijah standing behind me.

"Elijah," Rebekah hissed.

"Leave," Elijah ordered his sister. Rebekah moved towards him, threateningly.

"Are you challenging me?" Elijah laughed slightly.

"You're pathetic," Rebekah spat. "Both of you," She directed towards Elena as well. With one last glare in my twin's direction, she walked away.

"I'll get her, shall I?" I asked, walking backwards in the direction Rebekah had left.

"Rebekah!" I called out into the darkness.

"What do you want, Alex?" Rebekah asked, appearing behind me. I turned around.

"Don't use that bratty attitude with me, I'm not your enemy," I scolded. She sighed.

"I'm sorry, I just have a hard time controlling myself sometimes," She sat against a car in the far end of the car park.

"You're talking to the queen of no control," I told her, sitting next to her on the hood of the car.

"Don't do that, Alex. We all know how in control you actually are. You always have to fight Abaddon to stay in control of your own body. You've got more control than anyone I know," Rebekah sighed again.

"Then take a page from my book," I offered.

"I'm an Original. I shouldn't have to conform to other's rules. I'm better than them all."

"Well, maybe that's your problem. Maybe you think you're better than them all when you're their equal. I believe that power doesn't make you better. Your character, who you are, makes you a better person. And you've got great character. It just seems I'm one of the only ones that gets to see it."

"Emotions make you weak," Rebekah hissed.

"That's where you're wrong. Emotions are the one thing we have that makes us strong. If you feel love or anger, you've got something to fight for. Something to hold onto when things are as bad as they can get. Emotions make us who we are. They're not a weakness Rebekah. And I know how strongly you feel. It's written all over your face." "That obvious?"

"Like reading a children's book," Rebekah sighed. "Take my advice, Rebekah. You never know how happy you could be," I told her.

"What about you?" She asked.

"What about me?"

"Don't act oblivious, Alex. You never wear your heart on your sleeve. You're one of the most guarded people I know. Why is that?"

"I don't know. Its just how I've always done things. It doesn't mean I don't have emotions."

"No, but it's stopping you from being happy. You could have been with Tyler years ago. You told me you two were inseparable, if you had let yourself be open to heartache you could have been with him. I know how you felt about him."

"It's not that simple," I started.

"Yes it is! Have you not seen the way that Klaus acts around you? Or Kol? He's just met you and already you're on his mind. I can even see it in those pathetic Salvatores. You just have to let one of them in. Live a little."

"But what if I let the wrong one in?" I asked.

"Then you've got 3 other choices," Rebekah smirked. I shoved her slightly and rolled my eyes.

"Gross," I chuckled lightly. We both stood up at the same time.

"Thanks for the talk, Alex," Rebekah said.

"Anytime," I smiled at her. She rolled her eyes and brought me into a hug. When I let go, she was gone. Sighing I took my phone out of my pocket.

I pressed speed dial 3 on my phone and held it to my ear. Hoping he was still awake.

"Hello?" His groggy voice asked from the other end of the phone.

"Sorry! Did I wake you?" I asked, cursing myself for calling in the middle of the night.

"No it's fine. I've been waiting for your call for a while now," He said.

"Sorry, it's been a bit hectic here. So much has happened. You'll be happy to know I'm alive."

"You're alive?!" He yelled.

"Yeah, long story. It seems like I'm Abaddon's true vessel. She's literally bringing me to life," I said.

"Wow, that's crazy. So what does that mean? Can you die?" He asked.

"No, I'm truly immortal. But I could get pregnant, maybe so there's a downside."

"How is that a downside?"

"Come on. How freaked out would you be if your mother never aged. And what happens when they grow up and their friends start calling me a MILF. That would just scar them for all eternity."

"Okay, that paints a vivid and disgusting image. I don't want to think about you that way," He scoffed.

"Come on, Jer. I was joking," I smiled. "How's Denver?"

"It's Denver. It's alright. I miss you guys, so much."

"We miss you too," I said quietly, tears forming in my eyes. I sniffed and wiped the tears away before they could fall.

"You okay, Alex?" Jeremy asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sure you've got school tomorrow so I'll let you go back to sleep," I told him.

"Okay, as long as you promise to call more often," He said.

"I promise, Jer. Love you bro."

"Love you too, Alex. Night," He said hanging up the phone. I sighed and made my way back home to try and get some sleep.

The next morning I walked into the kitchen to see Elena standing at the coffee maker. She turned around when she saw me walk into the room and placed a mug of the hot liquid energy in front of me on the island.

"You made me coffee?" I asked, skeptically.

"Yes," She nodded.

"Why?"

"Can't I make my twin sister coffee in the morning without having some kind of ulterior motive?" She huffed.

"No. Now what is it?" I sighed.

"Why did you go off with Rebekah last night?" Elena asked.

"That's what the coffee was for? To ease me into an interrogation?"

"It's not like that, Alex."

"Look, she's my friend, Elena. Get over it," I sighed, rubbing my hands over my face.

"Fine," She said, crossing her arms across her chest. "Stefan and Damon will be here soon, I've got some information that Elijah told me last night."

As if on cue, Stefan and Damon entered into the house and made their way to the kitchen.

"What's the urgent information then?" Damon asked as he sauntered into the kitchen. He looked over at me and took in my attire. "Nice jammies," He commented. I looked down to the top that read Don't touch my melons with two melons on the chest.

"Take what it says to heart," I told him, folding my arms across my chest.

"Can we get to business?" Stefan asked.

"It was their mother Ester who was sealed in that coffin," Elena explained.

"As in the Original witch?" Stefan asked.

"What? How is she even alive?" Damon asked. "I thought her hybrid freak of a son ripped her heart out a thousand years ago."

"I don't know," Elena shrugged. "I'm guessing she has a couple connections in the witching community. Elijah said that she wants to live in peace with her family, including Klaus."

"She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill Klaus," Stefan huffed.

"Well obviously she's not gonna help us, if what Elijah said is true," I said.

"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds," Stefan said.

"Tearing you to shreds," I murmured.

"Anyone else feeling a little used right now?" Damon asked and I raised my hand.

"Look, Elijah promised me that his family wouldn't hurt any of us," Elena said as the doorbell rung. "I believe him."

Elena and I walked to the door and on the porch there was two boxes and a envelope. Elena picked up the envelope and I looked at the boxes. Both of them were addressed to me.

"What is it?" I heard Damon ask. Elena opened the envelope.

"It's an invitation. "Please join the Mikaelson Family, this evening at seven o'clock. For dancing, cocktails and celebration." Its for both of us," Elena said, looking at me.

"Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?" Stefan asked.

"The Original Family," I told him.

"Its not bad enough they're moving into town, now they want a housewarming gift?" Damon asked, sarcastically. Elena flipped the invitation over.

"Wait, there's a note on the back. "Elena, I think it's time that we finally meet, Esther." There doesn't say anything about Alex though," Elena said.

"Figures," I huffed.

"What's with the boxes?" Damon asked.

"I don't know, but they're addressed to me," I sighed. I picked up the boxes and took them into the kitchen so as I could return to my coffee.

"If Ester wants to talk to me, maybe I should find out why," Elena said, looking at the invitation.

"Well that's a dumb idea, she already tried to kill you once," Damon scoffed.

"No, Elena is right. Bonnie was led to open that coffin for a reason. I think there is more to this than just some family reunion," Stefan said.

"Can we go back in time where the old Stefan cared if Elena lived or died?" Damon asked.

"What for? Its your job now," Stefan rebuffed.

"What's your job then?" Damon asked.

"I look after Alex," Stefan said.

"Alex can look after herself," I interjected.

"See? Alex doesn't want you, Stefan," Damon hissed.

"I never said that," I argued.

"I think its you she doesn't want, brother," Stefan said.

"Guys stop!" I yelled. Both brothers turned to face me. "Look, Stefan has a point. I think Elena should find out what Esther wants."

"She can't protect herself," Damon said.

"Okay fine, then I'll go," Stefan replied.

"You've pissed off enough Originals to last a lifetime," Damon said, pointing at Stefan. "I'll go," Damon snatched the invitation out of Elena's hand.

"Hey!" She protested.

"End of story," Damon cut her off and left the room.

"Don't worry, I'll be there too. It'll be fine," I said. Elena nodded at me and I looked at the boxes on the counter. "Better see what's in these," I said.

I picked up the boxes and took them upstairs to my room. I put them onto my bed and decided to open the top box first. Folded up delicately was a red halter neck ball gown that was corseted at the waist and flared out at the skirt. There was very intricate silver decorations over the bodice as well. I looked inside the box and there was a note.

Dear Alex,

Hope to see you in this dress tonight, it would look so lovely.

Klaus.

Just great, Klaus had sent me a ball gown. I sighed and put the dress back in the box and moved it further up my bed. I looked at the second box and opened it. Inside was a beautiful strapless dark blue ball gown with a silver embroidered corset and silver decorations pulling the skirt up in ruffles. It was gorgeous. Inside the box was also a note.

Dear Alex,

With a figure as fine as yours I knew you'd have to flaunt it in this dress. It's beauty comes second only to yours.

Save me a dance.

Kol.

Great. Now I had two Originals wanting me to wear the dress they bought for me. I needed help.

3rd Person POV

Inside the Mikaelson Mansion the Original family were getting ready for their ball tonight. Rebekah was sitting on the couch, having her nails painted. Elijah was looking at which shoe would match his suit. Finn was getting his pant's seamed and Kol was staring at himself in the mirror as the tailor finished up with his suit.

"Rebekah? Tell me how handsome I am," Kol said to his sister.

"Ah Kol, you know I can't be compelled," Rebekah smirked to her brother. Finn grinned at his younger siblings before the door slammed open and Klaus entered.

"You went after Elena? What is wrong with you?!" He directed at Rebekah. Kol turned around and went to sit on the arm of the chair.

"Here we go," Rebekah sighed, looking at her nails.

"Do you want another dagger in your heart?" Klaus threatened.

"Again with the dagger threats?" Kol asked. "Don't you have any other tricks?"

"Oh go back to staring at yourself," Klaus mocked, still looking at Rebekah.

"And who are you, my father?" Kol asked

"No, Kol, but you're in my house," Klaus argued.

"Then perhaps we should take this outside," Kol said.

"So we can make a spectacle of ourselves? Or are you trying to impress someone?" Klaus mocked.

"I don't need to try. Alex is already impressed," Kol smirked.

"I wasn't talking about Alex," Klaus defended.

"Of course you were, brother. I know you sent her a dress for the ball," Kol said.

"And you sent her one also. It's no secret."

"Aren't you slightly curious to see whose dress she chooses? After all, it'll show us exactly who she's more fond of," Kol grinned.

"Whichever dress she chooses means nothing," Klaus argued.

"You say that, but we all know you don't mean it," Kol rebuffed.

"Enough!" Esther said to her children. "Niklaus...come," Klaus followed his mother into another room.

"Rebekah wasn't even out of her box a day before she tried to ruin my life," Klaus said. "What happened to peace, acceptance, family?"

"You put daggers in their hearts," Esther told her son. "You want them to go down on their knees and kiss your feet for reuniting them?"

"So it's a crime to want our family to be as we were?" Klaus asked, incredulously.

"You need to give it time, Niklaus. I've had a thousand years on the other side to be angry and to heal. I'm here to make sure this family does the same," Esther explained.

"I just don't understand. I killed you, and still you forgave me," Klaus said.

"Its been my dream for a thousand years that this family could be as one. Forgiveness is not a chore. It's a gift," Esther told her son. "Now, who are you bringing to the ball this evening?" She asked.

"Don't be ridiculous," Klaus sighed. "You're lucky I'm even going."

"Well, I wish you would reconsider. It is going to be a magical evening," Esther smiled at her son.

Alex's POV

I made my way to Caroline's house with the boxes in tow and I knocked on her front door.

"Coming!" I heard her shout from inside the house. "Hey, Alex," She said, opening the door.

"I need your help. I've got a dilemma," I said. She nodded and let me inside.

"What's up?" She asked as soon as we were in her room.

"Both Klaus and Kol sent me dresses for the ball tonight and I don't know whose dress to wear or if I should wear either at all?" I rushed out, looking around her room. My eyes stopped on a box that looked extremely similar to the one I had gotten from Klaus.

"What's this?" I asked, making my way towards the box.

"Klaus sent me a dress too. Who's Kol?" Caroline asked. I opened the box and saw a beautiful blue dress with light netting over the top of the skirt. For some strange reason I felt a feeling of betrayal that Klaus sent a dress to Caroline as well. "Hello? Alex?" Caroline's voice brought me out of my mind.

"What?" I asked, looking at her and placing the lid back on the box.

"Who's Kol?" She asked again.

"He's Klaus's brother. Another Original," I replied.

"You've got two Originals sending you dresses?" Caroline asked. I nodded.

"Dilemma," She sighed.

"Can I see them?" She asked. I nodded and pointed towards the boxes. She opened both of them and surveyed them.

"What do you think?" I asked.

"They're both beautiful. However, based on your skin tone, the dark blue would suit you better," Caroline said.

"That's Kol's dress," I told her.

"Well that's brilliant. If Klaus is going round hedging his bets by giving two girls a dress, you shouldn't wear his. Wear the one Kol got you. If anything, it'll piss Klaus off to no end," Caroline laughed.

"And we all know how much fun that is," I agreed with her, laughing also.

Caroline and I were sitting with Elena in the grill. She had called earlier to ask Caroline to chat and I had tagged along.

"It's all so weird," Elena said. "The Originals are throwing a ball. Like an actual ball."

"It's some twisted Cinderella fetish is what it is," Caroline replied. "And why does the Evil Witch want an audience with you?" She asked.

"I have no idea. There's only one way to find out," Elena replied.

"I thought you told Damon and Stefan you weren't going," Caroline asked.

"I did, which is all the more reason I need a drama free bodyguard. Like Alex," Elena said.

"Believe me, I'm not drama free," I told my twin. "But I'll happily be your bodyguard."

"No offense, Alex, but I think a Salvatore would look a lot better in a tux. And by that I mean Stefan," Caroline said.

"Offense taken, I think I'd look smashing in a tux," I smirked. Caroline laughed slightly.

"I can't deal with either of the Salvatores right now," Elena groaned. "Whatever Stefan is feeling, he is channeling it all against Klaus. And Damon...it's just not a good idea."

"Why, cause you two made out?" Caroline asked. Elena looked at her shocked. "Alex spilled the beans," She shrugged.

"Sorry," I said, unapologetically.

"I was gonna tell you," Elena defended. "Just, after everything happened with your dad..." Elena trailed off.

"Elena, when you and Matt kissed for the first time freshman year, you called me the second it happened. And now I don't hear about this till now, and from somebody else," Caroline said, mildly offended.

"I'm sorry. It's just I, I don't even know how I feel about it yet," Elena sighed. "All I do know is that it just used to be so much easier."

"Careful Caroline," A familiar voice said behind me. "Its all well and good until she stabs you in the back," Rebekah said, coming to stand next to the table we were sitting at.

"What are you doing here?" Elena asked. "I know your mom's rules. No hurting the locals."

"Get over yourself Elena. It's not all about you," Rebekah said. "I came over to say hello to Alex," She smiled at me.

"Hello yourself," I said to her.

"You're coming to the ball tonight?" She asked.

"Of course," I smiled.

"And whose dress are you wearing?" She asked.

"Don't even," I groaned. "It makes me uncomfortable I even have to choose."

"Well I don't envy you," She smiled. "I've got to go and do something, see you tonight," She said and walked towards Matt.

"It still creeps me out how friendly you two are," Elena said as we watched Rebekah hand Matt an invitation to the ball.

"Oh my God. She's inviting him to the ball," Caroline gasped. "Why is she inviting him?"

"Probably to get this reaction from us," Elena offered.

"Or she actually likes him," I said rolling my eyes.

"What time is this stupid dance?" Caroline scoffed.

3rd Person POV

Carol Lockwood was standing inside the Mikaelson Mansion's foyer. She looked around nervously at the members of the party, many of whom she didn't recognize.

"Hello Carol," A deep, smooth voice said behind her. She turned around to see Damon Salvatore standing behind her in a tux.

"Hello," Carol replied.

"Hanging out with your new besties?" Damon asked, mockingly.

"I'm the mayor, Damon. When the oldest, deadliest, family of vampires moves into your town, you welcome them with a smile," Carol explained.

"Hmm, well at least you know who you're borrowing that cup of sugar from," Damon replied.

"I'm trying to protect this town. They've assured me they want peace, and I've assured them that I'd enforce it," Carol said.

"Mayor Lockwood," An equally smooth, British voice sounded to her left. She turned to see a very handsome young man, smiling at her. "We haven't formally met. Kol Mikaelson," He introduced himself as he took the mayor's hand and placed a delicate kiss on it.

"I hope your lovely town embraces us just as much as we plan to embrace it," Kol continued.

"Damon Salvatore," Damon said, interjecting and holding his hand out at Kol. "Have we met?" Damon asked.

"I've met a lot of people. And you don't particularly stand out," Kol smirked. Damon withdrew his hand and looked around him. He saw Elena standing at the door, and frowned.

"Excuse me Carol," He said and made his way towards Elena, meeting Stefan on the way.

"What are you doing here?" Elena asked Stefan as the Salvatore brothers approached her.

"I could ask you the same thing," Stefan said.

"Surprise, surprise," Damon said, sarcasm dripping from his words. "Nice tux. You're not supposed to be here," He said to Elena.

"Well, I am," Elena said. "And I'm not leaving until I find out what Esther wants. So, shall we?" She asked, offering her arms. Both Salvatores escorted her into the party.

Alex's POV

I quickly adjusted the ruffles on the dress I was wearing. I decided to go with the dark blue one. Caroline was right, it worked better with my skin tone and I wondered if that's why Kol chose it.

I walked into the foyer, not seeing anyone I recognized. I sighed and decided to make my way to the bar as that was where most people I knew would probably be. I started to walk down the steps when a voice stopped me.

"I was right, you look impeccable in that dress," The man said. I turned to see Kol, dressed sharply in a tux staring at me.

"I'd say you look handsome but I don't want to stroke that incredibly large ego," I said.

"Well, I do have something else which is incredibly large that you could stroke instead," Kol smirked at me.

"I can't believe you just said that," I said, unable to contain the laughter at his ridiculous innuendo.

"It was a bit vulgar wasn't it?" Kol asked.

"A little, but I can't say I didn't like it," I smirked.

"I'm glad someone in this town appreciates my humor," Kol said.

"You're lucky my mind's in the gutter or I'm sure this conversation would be going a different way," I smiled.

"I am very lucky," Kol said, seriously. I fidgeted slightly under his stare.

"Feeling a bit uncomfortable," I mumbled knowing he'd be able to hear me.

"Apologies," Kol replied, a grin breaking out on his face. "Seeing as you're wearing my dress, I do believe you owe me a dance."

"Do I now?" I asked.

"Yes, you do," Kol smirked.

"Well I wouldn't want to shirk my responsibilities," I smiled.

"Uh, if everyone could gather, please," Elijah's voice rang from the stairs above us.

"Don't go anywhere while I see to my family," Kol said, winking at me.

"Don't you look stunning," Damon said coming up behind me.

"Thank you Damon," I replied.

"You look gorgeous," Stefan added.

"Thanks," I smiled. I looked up and saw the whole Original family standing on the staircase. Klaus was looking at me, a slight glare in his eyes. Obviously upset I wasn't wearing his dress. I looked around the room and saw Caroline, wearing the dress Klaus gave her. Well, at least he had something he could be happy about now.

"Welcome," Elijah said, gathering the attention of the crowd. "Thank you for joining us. You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance," He said.

"Do you see who I see?" Damon asked his brother as Esther made her way down the stairs.

"Oh yeah," Stefan replied.

"Tonight's pick is a centuries-old waltz, so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner, please join us in the ballroom," Elijah continued.

I turned and saw Damon and Elena talking. Knowing they would end up dancing together I looked around to see Stefan standing by the bar. I smiled at him and made to move towards him when Kol stepped in front of me.

"I do believe you owe me a dance," He said.

"I believe I do," I replied. He took my hand and looped it through his arm. I tried not to make a face at the feel of his biceps but by Kol's chuckle I knew it didn't work. Biceps had always been my thing.

We were all standing in the ballroom, partnered up. Damon and Elena, Rebekah and Matt and Klaus and Caroline. Kol took my hands and we stood behind Damon and Elena.

"I'm not the best dancer," I admitted to Kol as we started to move to the music.

"Nonsense," He smiled. "I'm sure you can't be that bad. And if you trip, I'll hold you up," He said to me.

"My knight in shining armor," I said rolling my eyes but unable to stop the small grin that appeared on my face. The music picked up and Kol placed a hand on my waist and gripped my other hand firmly in his. I looked at my feet.

"Don't look down. Look at me, I'll guide you," He said. I looked up at him and let him lead me around the room.

"Hey, I'm dancing," I smiled.

"I'd say you're following, but that's up to you," Kol said.

"Don't ruin this for me. It's an accomplishment," I told him. He chuckled lightly and nodded. We danced for a few more beats before Kol spun me and I landed in Damon's arms.

"Were you smiling with Kol?" He asked me.

"Are we getting into this? Yes I'm having a good time dancing at a ball," I rolled my eyes as he led me around the room.

"Look I don't want to tell you what to do-"

"Then don't," I cut him off. "It's my life, I'll do whatever the hell I want with it," I said. Just then he spun me into a different set of arms.

"And you are looking stunning this evening," Elijah smiled at me.

"Thank you, Elijah," I smiled at him. "As always you are sublime in a suit."

"Thank you," He smiled back. "I can't help but notice how close you have gotten with my brother," He said.

"Which one?" I asked.

"Kol," Elijah replied. "I am not wishing to tell you what to do, I'm just imparting information. Kol is unstable and I've never seen him act this way about a woman. It's frankly, worrying," Elijah said.

"Be that as it may, I am not in any danger, Elijah. Plus, I'm not the most stable person either," I said. Elijah nodded and smiled at me. The dance ended and Elijah bowed at me. I curtsied with a small giggle and left to find something to drink.

3rd Person POV

Kol and Rebekah were standing in the foyer, eyeing up the locals.

"Where's your date?" Kol asked.

"Flirting with his ex," Rebekah huffed.

"You've changed, Bekah," Kol said. "You know, settling for mortals is the first sign of weakness."

"I'm not settling," Rebekah defended. "I brought him here to kill him. He's Elena's friend. If he dies she suffers. But I've already been scolded once so I was hoping you'd help your baby sister out."

"And spit right in the face of mother's rules?" Kol asked, feigning shock before his face morphed into a smirk. "I'm in," He said.

"So what's the deal with you and Alex?" Rebekah asked.

"She's an interesting thing isn't she?" Kol smirked.

"And she could hurt you worse than you could hurt her. And she's also my best friend, don't mess her up," Rebekah said.

"Who said I'd do such a thing?" Kol asked.

"Your track record does," Rebekah rolled her eyes.

"Just because I have a bad history doesn't mean I can't redeem myself."

"I'm not going to lie, Kol. You and Alex together does make a lot of sense but I can't help but feel you're going to screw it up. And if you hurt her, you'll have me to answer to. Are we clear?" Rebekah asked.

"Crystal," Kol smirked.

Elena was making her way up to Esther's study as Stefan had just snapped Damon's neck to allow Elena the time to talk to the Original witch. She knocked on the door and Finn opened it.

"You're alone. Wise choice," He said, opening the door wider to allow Elena to enter the room. She saw Esther burning something and Esther smiled at her.

"It's only sage. I've spelled it so we can speak freely without fear of being overheard," Esther explained. "That'll be all Finn, thank you," Finn nodded and left the room. "You must have a million questions for me Elena. Please," She gestured to the couch and they took a seat.

"How are you alive? Are you a ghost? Or..." Elena asked.

"Not exactly," Esther said. "When I died the witch Ayana preserved my body with a spell. She was a close friend of mine, an ancestor of your friend Bonnie."

"So that's why only Bonnie and her mother could open up the casket," Elena clarified.

"They complete the Bennett bloodline," Esther nodded. "I drew power from them and their ancestors who were with me on the other side."

"So you've been on the other side for a thousand years?" Elena asked.

"Nature's way of punishing me for turning my family into vampires. But there is a way for me to undo the evil I created," Esther said.

"You're gonna help us kill Klaus, aren't you?" Elena asked.

"One thing at a time, Elena. For now, I simply need your help," Esther said. "I understand Rebekah shared the story of my family. How I upset the balance of nature by turning my children into vampires."

"She said you did it to protect them from the werewolves," Elena nodded.

"It's true. But in no time at all, they began to feed on human blood. The ravaged the town with no remorse. Eventually, Niklaus turned against me."

"How are you going to kill him?" Elena asked. "He's immortal."

"It will take time, magic and your assistance," Esther said.

"What do I have to do with it?" Elena questioned.

"My children believe I'm holding this ball to celebrate our reunion," Esther explained. "But in truth I've gathered them together to perform a ritual. The first step requires blood from the doppleganger. Only a drop. Its essence will be in the champagne toast later on this evening. Will you do it or shall I?" Esther asking holding out a knife.

Elena removed her glove and held out her finger for Esther to prick with the knife.

"Elijah is more suspicious than the others, so he may need more persuasion," Esther told Elena. "But they must all drink at the toast in order to be linked as one."

"What do you mean linked as one?" Elena asked.

"You said yourself Klaus can't be killed. But tonight's spell links all my children together, so that if one goes, they all go," Esther said.

"What?" Elena asked, shocked.

"I love my family, Elena, but they are an abomination. I betrayed nature when I created them. Its my duty to kill them."

Alex's POV

I was standing at the bar having just ordered a drink when I felt a presence beside me. I looked to my left to see Finn standing beside me.

"Hello," I said, nodding my head at him.

"My mother requests to see you," Finn said.

"Wow, cutting to the chase then," I murmured.

"Will you see her?" Finn asked.

"Lead the way," I said nodding. I better get this over and done with.

Finn led me up the stairs to a room that smelt funny. He knocked on the door and I watched as it opened and Elena walked out. She narrowed her eyes in confusion as Finn led her away from the room.

"Alexandria Gilbert, I presume," Esther said to me.

"It's just Alex," I replied as she gestured for me to come inside.

"Very well. It's a pleasure to meet you," Esther said.

"I'm sure," I smiled falsely. "Finn said you wanted to see me," I said.

"Yes, I'm sure you know by now that I have been watching you from the other side," Esther said.

"I know now," I replied.

"I'm not talking about you, Alex. I wish to speak with her," Esther said.

"Abaddon?" I asked, Esther nodded.

"You know I can't just bring her out on command right?" I questioned.

"I'm sure you can," Esther argued. I closed my eyes and sighed, letting Abaddon take over but making sure she knew it was only temporary.

I opened my eyes and the charcoal blackness engulfed them.

"I hear you wanted to see me," I said, feeling Alex in the back of my mind.

"I know exactly what you are and I know you're a bad influence for my family," Esther said.

"I'm a bad influence on the Original vampires? Oh that is rich," I laughed out.

"You've been around longer than I have but I can still bring you down," Esther spat.

"And how do you expect to do that?" I asked.

"With magic," Esther smirked.

"Honey, I'm a magic entity. That shit won't do anything to me," I said.

"Don't be so sure, demon," She hissed.

"Don't be so quick to call me names, Esther," I scolded, eyes flashing white. "I may be a demon, but you're the monster willing to destroy your own family," Esther's eyes widened in shock.

"How do you know that?" Esther asked.

"I have a connection to the other side, they gossip, a lot," I smirked at her.

"Does Alex know what I plan to do?" Esther asked.

"Not yet, but it would be all too easy to tell her," I said.

"You can't, my family needs to be destroyed," Esther pleaded.

"To be honest, I actually quite like them roaming around, creating havoc," I smiled. "They remind me of myself."

"Have you found your true vessel?" Esther asked, changing the subject.

"Now why would I tell you that?" I replied.

"I'll take that as a yes," Esther smirked.

"Take it anyway you want, I don't see any reason why it would make a difference," I said. In seconds Esther had whipped out a knife and slashed at my wrist, using her other hand to hold a cup underneath the flow of blood.

I pulled my arm away from her and used my energy to heal the wound.

"What the hell was that?" I hissed.

"I think it's time for Alex to come back out," Esther said, opening the door. I glared at her and walked out of the door, closing my eyes and letting Alex come back to the surface.

3rd Person POV

Finn walked back into his mother's study.

"Did you get what you needed, mother?" Finn asked.

"Yes, I have some of her blood, it's just what I need," Esther replied.

"What are you planning to do?" Finn asked.

"Abaddon is a monster who destroys for fun. I cannot let a creature like that roam free," Esther explained.

"But she is immortal is she not? How can you kill a creature that is immortal?" Finn questioned.

"Simple, my son. To kill an immortal, you must take away their immortality," Esther grinned.

Kol was waiting for his younger sister under the grand staircase after her failed attempt to lead Matt outside for Kol to kill. Rebekah walked past and Kol piped up.

"There you are. I was waiting outside for you," Kol said. "Where's Matt?"

"About that, I uh-I changed my mind," Rebekah stuttered. "I don't want to ruin mother's night," Rebekah said, creating an excuse.

"Don't tell me you like this boy," Kol mocked. "What did he do? He gave you five seconds of his attention?" Kol sighed. "Don't be so predictable Rebekah."

"You don't have to be rude about it," Rebekah scoffed. "Just leave him be, okay?" She asked and left Kol under the stairs.

"As you wish sister," Kol said when she was out of ear shot.

Alex's POV

I looked down at my now healed arm and wondered why on earth Esther needed my blood. I sighed and shook my head slightly, hoping to ignore what just happened and carry on with the party.

"Looking to forget something?" Kol's familiar British voice whispered in my ear.

"What?" I asked, whipping round to face him.

"You were just shaking your head. Looking to forget something?" He asked again.

"Oh, no, I was just...It doesn't matter," I smiled up at him. Even in my 4 inch heels he was still a good 6 inches taller than me.

"Whatever it was, don't let it ruin your night," Kol said. "Plus, I'm here now, let the fun begin."

"I'm afraid I'm not that much fun," I said.

"Now that I don't believe for a second. I've heard stories over the centuries," He smirked.

"Oh, you're talking about Abaddon," I sighed.

"No, of course not," Kol said, looking confused.

"What?" I asked.

"The way I gather it, from what you've told me, is that you and this Abaddon are one and the same. Meant to be if you will. Whatever she's like, you're like and whatever you're like, she's like," Kol explained.

"I'm not sure that makes sense," I laughed.

"Of course it does. Everything that made her fun, makes you fun. Everything that made you fun, makes her fun. Do you see what I mean, she's just as much a part of you as you are of her."

"Why are you so interested?" I asked, genuinely surprised that someone that knew what I could be like, was so interested in it. "Everyone is scared of her, of what she can do."

"And I'm intrigued," Kol replied. "I want to see what she could do. See if it's anywhere near as vicious as me," I opened my mouth to say something to him but the sound of something hitting crystal rung throughout the house. Kol and I made our way to the front of the staircase where Esther was standing with a glass of champagne.

"Good Evening, Ladies and Gentlemen. Waiters are coming around with champagne. I invite you all to join me in raising a glass," Esther said. Kol and I were offered a glass of champagne and we accepted.

"It provides me with no greater joy than to see my family back together as one. I'd like to thank you all for being part of this spectacular evening," Esther continued. "Cheers," She said raising her glass. Kol and I clinked our glasses together before taking a sip. I felt a slight buzz in my head but decided it was just the alcohol affecting me.

3rd Person POV

Esther was in her study once again. She poured the blood from the cup into a bowl and started to chant. The bowl exploded into fire and the smoke rose, creating a screaming face in the smoke.

Esther smiled and knew all she had to do was wait.

Alex's POV

I made my way into the foyer and saw Elena and Damon in a heated conversation. Sighing and hoping they weren't making a scene I made my way over to them.

"Sorry for trying to keep you alive. Clearly Stefan doesn't give a crap anymore," Damon hissed at my twin.

"Now you're mad at me for including Stefan?" Elena asked incredulously.

"No, I'm mad at you because I love you!" He half shouted.

"Well, maybe that's the problem," Elena yelled back. Damon looked taken aback. Obviously that was not what he wanted to hear. "No. That's not what I-"

"No, I get it, Elena," Damon cut her off. "I care too much, I'm a liability. How ironic is that," Damon scoffed.

"Have you guys seen Matt?" Caroline asked, making her way up to the two of them. Damon walked away from the girls and I walked towards him.

"Damon, I'm sorry," I told him.

"Don't worry about it, Alex," Damon said. Not even looking at me.

"Damon. Damon look at me," I said, gripping his face in my hand and forcing him to look down at me. "Don't go and do anything stupid," I told him. He looked at me for a few seconds before crashing his lips onto mine. I pushed him backwards.

"Damon what are you doing?" I hissed at him. "You just got rejected by Elena, you can't try it on with me two seconds later. People aren't like that."

"Figures," Damon said before stalking off. I sighed and shook my head again, hoping he wouldn't do anything stupid.

"Are you alright?" Stefan asked, coming up to me. I nodded.

"I'm fine, just Damon being Damon," I said.

"How many times has he tried something with you?" Stefan asked.

"Too many for it to be a good thing," I replied.

"Well, I guess we've just got to let him cool off," Stefan shrugged.

"I guess," I sighed. "I haven't really seen you all night. How are you?" I asked.

"No you haven't, been far too busy with the youngest male Original," Stefan wiggled his eyebrows.

"Oh grow up, Stefan," I said, shoving him slightly.

"I'm not saying anything," Stefan smiled.

"Good, don't," I nodded.

"But if I were to say something," Stefan started, I groaned. "Would you listen?"

"Depends on what you were to say. I do value your opinion but I also am allowed to live my own life," I told Stefan. "Plus at the moment, its just flirting. The same way I act around you, and Elijah, and Klaus, and Damon, and Tyler. Wow, I flirt a lot."

"It's just your personality, don't worry," Stefan smiled at me.

"I'm just a compulsive flirter," I smirked.

"And don't ever change," Stefan smiled back at me. There was a loud thud from outside the mansion and I looked at Stefan. He rolled his eyes and we both ran outside in time to see Damon snap Kol's neck.

"Damon!" I yelled, rushing to Kol's side. "I told you not to do anything stupid! What is wrong with you, Damon? Are you crazy?"

"Maybe a little," Damon said in a daze. "Far be it for me to cause a problem," He said, looking directly at Elena before walking into the night.

"My knight in shining armor," Kol said from beneath me. I looked down and smiled slightly.

"My damsel in distress," I smirked. Kol chuckled lightly and went to sit up. I turned to look at him but let out an ear-piercing scream. I crashed to the ground, writhing in pain. It felt as if I was being torn apart at the seams.

"Alex! Alex, what's wrong?!" Elijah's worried voice asked. It seemed the Originals had come outside when the commotion occurred.

"It's Abaddon," I screamed out, body convulsing. "She's...she's being pulled out of me," I said, another scream ripping it's way from my throat as I convulsed in pain again. "I'm dying," I gasped.

3rd Person POV

"Kol, take her inside," Elijah ordered his brother. "Klaus, Rebekah, get rid of our guests. I don't care how you do it, as long as it's not violent," The other two Originals nodded and made their way back into the mansion.

"What about us?" Stefan asked.

"Go home. I will call you if she gets better," Elijah told Stefan and Elena.

"She's my twin. What do you mean if?" Elena asked. Elijah said nothing but walked back into the house.

"She'll be alright, right Stefan?" Elena asked. Stefan just nodded.

Inside the Mikaelson Mansion, Kol laid Alex out on his bed. He heard Klaus and Rebekah clear the guests out of their house and Elijah entered. Alex let out another gut-wrenching scream and Kol turned to his elder brother.

"What do we do?" Kol asked as Klaus and Rebekah entered also.

"The only thing we can right now. Give her vampire blood," Elijah replied.

"Will that work?" Rebekah asked.

"I don't know," Elijah answered. "But it's our only bet," Elijah bit into his wrist while Kol held the thrashing girl down. "Drink, Alex," Elijah persuaded the young girl. Alex gulped down a few mouthfuls of the warm liquid and her body stilled.

"What's happening?" Klaus asked.

"I don't know," Elijah replied. Kol looked at her.

"Elijah, she's not breathing," Rebekah cried. Alex gasped and sat upright, grabbing onto the closest person for support which happened to be Kol.

"Alex!" Rebekah cried. "Are you okay?" She asked.

"No," She gasped out. "I can feel it."

"Feel what?" Elijah asked.

"I'm dying. She's being taken from me. I can feel her being ripped from me. The vampire blood is just slowing down the process," Alex whispered. Rebekah felt tears fill up in her eyes.

"Rest now, Alex," Elijah said, gently laying her backwards on the bed.

In Esther's study, Finn walked inside.

"Are we alright to speak freely?" Finn asked his mother.

"Yes, the sage still burns," Esther said as she wrote her children's names on a piece of paper in Runic handwriting.

"Alex has been given vampire blood," Finn told Esther.

"That will only slow the process down," Esther replied. "Only undoing the spell will stop her from dying."

"You aren't having seconds thoughts on this ritual are you?" Finn asked.

"Of course not," Esther replied.

"You're doing the right thing, mother."

"You understand what this means, don't you? This spell I'm casting tonight will bind you all together as one," Esther explained.

"I understand. When it is time, I will be ready to die."

"Then we must complete the link," She held out her hand to her son and he placed his hand in hers. She took a knife and cuts Finn's hand, letting the blood spill onto the paper, reciting a spell under her breath. The blood ran across the page, covering each name in turn and linking each together.

"The link is complete. You are one," Esther said as the paper began to burn.

Stefan walked Elena into her house, trailing her into the kitchen.

"So uh, Esther wants to kill her whole family. How is that for mother of the year?" Stefan asked.

"Yeah. And I got to look Elijah right in the eye and lie to him about it," Elena sighed.

"Well, good. I can't say I'll be sorry to see any of them go," Stefan replied.

"I just signed their death sentences, Stefan," Elena said.

"No, you signed Klaus's death sentence, Elena. Everyone else is just collateral damage."

"It's not that simple."

"Their family has brought you nothing but darkness, Elena. It is that simple," Stefan told her. "So, uh...where's Damon? I would think that he'd wanna make sure you got home safely."

"I'll call him and let him know," Elena said.

"What was with him going after Kol?"

"Damon being self-destructive. I said something I didn't mean." Elena sighed.

"So did I. Anyway, uh, good night," Stefan nodded, making to leave the house but Elena followed him out.

"Stefan did you really not feel anything?" Elena asked.

"When?"

"How do you do that? Act like you don't care, like you don't feel anything?" Elena asked. "Because I can't do that. I... I feel. I feel everything."

"Elena, stop," Stefan started.

"I'm not going to stop, Stefan, because I don't believe that you feel nothing," Elena argued.

"What? You think I want to be this person? I hurt you, Elena. I bit you. I hate myself for what I did to you," Stefan said. Elena grabbed Stefan's face in her hands.

"Then show it! Do something, Stefan, anything is better than trying to convince me that you don't care," Elena begged.

"I can't."

"Stefan," Elena whispered. He grabbed her wrists and removed her hands from his face.

"I can't let myself care, all I feel is pain," Stefan said, walking away from Elena.

Rebekah entered the Mystic Grill, seeing Matt sitting at the bar, drinking coffee.

"Hi," She said, meekly. "What are you doing?"

"Well let's see. I went to a dance and got my hand crushed. I found out that I don't have health insurance, so I just needed a minute to myself," Matt said, sighing.

"Well, I thought, maybe I'd buy you an apology drink," Rebekah offered.

"Maybe you could just leave me alone," Matt suggested.

"Look, I'm...I'm really sorry about Kol. He's a lunatic," Rebekah sighed.

"Look, Rebekah, you're really fun and pretty and all, but I really need you to leave me alone," Matt said, getting up and leaving the grill.

"Burn," Damon said, walking towards Rebekah. "Rejected by the captain of the football team. Welcome to adolescence."

"Shut up Damon. Knew I should have killed him. Mother wouldn't let me," Rebekah said, feigning confidence.

"Well...never let people tell you what to do," Damon said, pouring a shot for himself and one for Rebekah. "Besides...you would have broken him in a second."

"Are you suggesting I can't be gentle?" Rebekah asked.

"No. I'm just saying that you should find someone a little more durable. That's all," Damon smirked

"And who would that be?" Rebekah asked. Damon waggled his eyebrows and pulled Rebekah towards him, crashing his lips onto hers.

Elijah and Kol sat next to a sleeping Alex. Both parties were worried that they wouldn't be able to figure out what was wrong with her.

"How do you think this could have happened?" Kol asked his elder brother.

"I don't know, Kol. I wish I did," Elijah sighed.

"I think mother has something to do with it," Kol hissed.

"What do you mean?" Elijah asked.

"I am just finding it hard to trust her, is all. I feel like she's keeping something from us," Kol explained.

"And what about what you're keeping inside?" Elijah asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Alex. Your affections towards her are unlike I've ever seen before from you."

"Are you saying I'm incapable of feelings?" Kol asked.

"Not in the slightest. I am just concerned as I've never seen you show these types of affections before. It worries me."

"Why should it worry you?"

"Because it is new, and people are afraid of the unknown. Even I," Elijah explained.

"You and me both, brother," Kol sighed, looking down at the sleeping girl in front of him.

Nicole - Thank you for your review! Kol was really fun to write and I'm glad you enjoyed him last chapter. There is definitely hidden feelings between Alex and Klaus but its whether the two of them will fess up to their feelings. Not much Klaus/Alex in this chapter (She was angry at him for giving Caroline a dress as well) but a lot of Kol/Alex. And a lot of Rebekah/Alex too which I hope people like!

Lucy Greenhill - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed the last chapter and I hope you'll enjoy this one too!

SomebodyWhoCares - Thank you for your review! Yeah i totally agree with you, don't worry not long until possible Winchesters ;)

Guest - Thank you for your review! Thank you for catching me before I fall into that black hole! At the moment I think it's excusable for Alex to have a few romantic interests as she's not had any proper romantic advances really until this point but I've managed to tone it down in this chapter and I'll try and keep it down.

Alsynea - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you liked the last chapter! Its so good to be writing Elijah and Rebekah again! They're great characters and they get on so well with Alex the scenes just write themselves most of the time! I'm glad you like the teleportation power, she's starting to become more Abaddon so she's developing some of her powers. Believe me, I can think of a few embarrassing moments! :) Hopefully you'll enjoy this chapter too!

lexieloolou - Thank you for your review! I can't believe you stayed up all night to read this story, thank you so much! I am literally so happy that someone would do that for my story! I'm glad you like it so much and I really hope you enjoy this chapter too!

HannahSalvatore665 - Thank you for your review! You really think this is the best story ever? Wow, that's amazing, thank you so much! You know Alex is gonna go so badass on Esther! She's gonna get her revenge and it's gonna be worse than the way she talked to Mikael! I'm really glad you like Kol, he's a great character to write. Unfortunately, it'll be a while before they get to feeding on someone together but I don't doubt that they will!

Sayomi-hyme - Thank you for your review! Awesomely long review! Loving it! I'm so happy you liked the last chapter, hopefully you'll enjoy this one just as much if not more! Kol got there first in this chapter, but someone else might butt in in the next chapter! Oh its all up in the air! Stefan could still be in with a chance so don't count him out yet, in fact, don't count anyone out, even Rebekah!

I'm really glad you liked how I portrayed Kol. I see him as being really intense and a little creepy sometimes but incredibly charming and cocky! Did you like that both Klaus and Kol sent her a dress? I thought that would create a rift between the brothers.

I'm watching everything online (Naughty) so I'm caught up with you guys! It's so good! I love the Originals, and Davina is so exciting! I love figuring out what she is! It makes watching the show more fun! Plus Marcel is so charming, you can't help but love to hate him! I am loving the story line but Hayley has yet to warm up to me. i still find her a bit annoying but what can you do!

Vampire Diaries for me started a bit slow, but its picking up speed a bit and its exciting me! I love Paul as Silas, he's so good at being the bad guy! But its getting back into love triangle territory and I'm a little fed up. Don't get me wrong, I love a little love triangle, but not a 5 season long one. However the actual story line is getting very interesting and I'm really intrigued to see where they end up taking it! Hopefully they'll manage to keep it interesting!

Send me anything you want by the way, I'm happy to give it a read and give you help if you need it! Thanks for the review!

Katie - Thank you for your review! I like writing Elena and Alex getting along, its a nice change and I hope it'll stay like that for a while! I think Damon is very confused and I think it'll take a while for him to figure things out. Maybe when he finally does, Alex won't be available. Hopefully you liked what I did in this chapter!

canttakeabreathe - Thank you for your review! Loved the key smash! I think Alex and Kol would be awesome together, that's just if other people don't get in the way! Hopefully you enjoyed this chapter as well!

xenocanaan - Thank you for your review! I'm sorry there wasn't any really romantic scenes with Klaus in this chapter. (She was a bit mad at him for sending Caroline a dress as well) But I'm sure there will be more in days to come.

BlueLilyInDarkness - Thank you for your review! I am so grateful you spent that long reading my story, it means so much that you would dedicate so much time to reading this! I think Alex's love life is starting to hit off and its so exciting! Its all up in the air right now so who knows who Alex will end up with but it'll be fun to pursue the options and I think we all know that Alex has got a lot of options!

aliiceroseee - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you liked the last chapter! Kol and Alex would be badass together wouldn't they? I enjoy writing their scenes!
