Chapter 29
Month 8
When Adeline had first got back with Bobby she went upstairs after Bobby told her he had kept her clothes. She opened up the door and was surprised that the room didn't look like a guest room anymore but it looked like her room. Her dragonfly stuffed animal that Dean had got her so long ago was on the bed liked it belonged there. Her keychain was hanging in the window and if the sun had been out it would've cast hints of green and blue throughout the room. On the dresser there was a vase and instead of flowers it was filled with blow pops. Beside the vase there was a picture of her, Sam and Dean when they had been teenagers. Dean had told them a joke and Sam and her were looking at each other with a grin.
That picture had always been her favorite and it was why she carried it with her. To remember the good times she had, had with her brothers. Adeline opened up her top drawer and was surprised to see a jewelry box with a dragon fly sticker on it. She pulled it out and set it on her dresser opening it. She gave a small smile at the tinkling noise it made that was, Once Upon a December. "I kept all the things, you left here over time. Even the things you deemed unpractical. But you did love that thing when I first gave it to you." Bobby told her from the doorway, his hands behind his back. Adeline nodded turning back to her music box, Bobby had given the music box to her on her birthday when she'd been staying with him. Sam had been dumped on Bobby too and their dad had took Dean on a hunt by himself.
Sammy had given her the dragon fly sticker and she stuck it on her music box feeling like it was missing something. A few months later when Sam and her had been picked up, she handed Bobby the music box telling him it was a wonderful gift but it was too impractical to bring with her. "I'm glad you kept it." She told him looking at herself in the mirror it had in it.
"I have something else." Bobby told her and she turned around and Bobby was holding out a blue blanket, one he had got her when she was seven. She had used it every time she had stayed here except the one time she was here and the blanket wasn't. She had thought Bobby had thrown it out since it was old and she never bothered asking him what he had done with it. Adeline grinned as Bobby wrapped it around her shoulders. "I can't decide to be impressed or to call you a pack rat. I always thought, you threw that out."
Bobby scratched his neck and gave her a small smile. "It got a hole it in, so I moved it up to the attic. I found it when I went through your things I had up in the attic and got it fixed." Adeline snorted then took the blanket off her shoulders and spread it on her bed. "So you went and got a blanket I haven't used in years and got it mended. Even though I was dead?" Adeline questioned him with a raised eyebrow. Bobby shrugged his shoulders. "I couldn't bear to burn your things, so I fixed them up for you." Was all he said and didn't admit that ever since Sam had come back somehow, he had hopes Adeline would too.
Adeline remembered something and picked up her dragon fly stuff animal and saw that the hole it had once had on the bottom was now stitched up. She snorted then set it down. She noticed then the book and dvd Gabriel had left her on the night stand along with a lava lamp. "You really kept everything." She had wanted that lava lamp when she was five and begged Bobby to get it for her and he did. She turned it on and just sat by and watched it for one day before she got bored of the thing. Bobby nodded his head at her, he did keep everything and had set it all up in this room that he had always thought of as hers.
"Well, I'll go ahead and change out of my swim suit and we can talk downstairs." She told him and Bobby nodded closing the door behind him and Adeline opened another drawer and pulled out some cargo pants and clean underwear along with a gray tank top. She changed quickly then looked around at the white colored walls and decided if this was her room it need some color. She snapped her fingers and the walls changed from white to a sky blue. Adeline nodded her head and smiled liking the color, before she went downstairs to talk to Bobby. That had been almost three months ago.
Now she was working at the bar by Bobby's house. She had read the book Gabriel left her and it instructed her on how to bring her human side out among other things. She had used the spell and now she could sleep again along with other human things that she hadn't really missed.
Adeline flushed the toilet then washed her hands yawning as she walked back out to the bar. It was two am and she had three more hours to go until she could go home and she was looking forward to it.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Adeline Winchester." Adeline looked up and saw a man sitting at the bar, he was scruffy looking and dressed as kind of a rock star. But she could see some of his true form when she looked into his eyes. Adeline grinned at him and leaned over closer to him she reached for her knife. It wouldn't really harm him but it would cause a distraction for her to leave. "Well hello there good looking, what can I get you?" She purred and he grinned. "Obviously, you haven't seen yourself. I mean wow your grace is a thing of beauty." The angel put his hand on top of hers and Adeline raised an eyebrow. "Although, rumor has it that you died or say nine months ago but here you are still kicking." Adeline pulled out her knife and stabbed him in the wrist with lightning speed. He looked at her amused, "You seem to know a lot about me, but I know nothing about you." She told him. "Now is this any way to treat a customer?" He asked her and waved his hand making the knife disappear.
"It's how I treat a threat. Now explain, what are you doing here?" She narrowed her eyes at him. He grinned at her. "Well for an ape turned angel, you're not half bad. Really got some balls don't you? Although, not what I imagined as Castiel's soulmate."
Adeline glared at him and he laughed. "Look at that, I've made you angry. Is it because I mentioned Cas? What will he say if I tell him you're alive?" Adeline took out her gun and aimed it at him. The men in the bar came over and were glaring at the man bothering her. "If you know what's good for you, you'll leave my bar and not mention my name to him."
He stood up with a smirk her direction as he stood up. "Need some help Ads?"
Adeline kept her glare on the angel before her. "Nope, I got this handled. Thanks Lloyd." Adeline used her thumb and cocked the gun. The man held his hands up in surrender. "Alright, I'm leaving sweetheart. Don't need to be told twice." He turned around and started walking. "And the other thing?!" Adeline called to him. "Don't worry about it, after all I'm dead too." He had turned back around and used air quotes. "It's Balthazar by the way." He told her before he walked out the door. Adeline sighed and set down her gun before she poured herself a drink. What the hell did he even want?
/
Adeline unlocked the door to Bobby's house and walked in turning on the lights. Bobby had left for a hunt earlier today and said he'd be back tomorrow night. Adeline stepped into the house then pulled out her knife and turned around and had almost hit Balthazar but he took a step back missing the swing. "We need to talk. I'm sure you've heard your mate talking to you."
Adeline frowned she didn't want to be reminded of that. She had heard Castiel's voice every night. He had told her how the war was going, not good and how he missed her and that he wished she was there with him. She would know how to win the war against Raphael. Adeline had felt guilty at first but then Castiel would start spouting nonsense on how he would try his hardest to find her and bring her back once he won the war. Which ended up just making her angry, had she not expressed that if she was dead she wanted to stay dead.
"What about it?" She asked him with a raised eyebrow. "Well, I have a way to help Castiel or well at least even the odds."
Adeline took down her knife and walked into the house and Balthazar followed her in. "Shoot." She sighed pouring herself a drink then sat down at the kitchen table. "The weapons. If we get Heaven's weapons we'll even the odds. Castiel could have a chance of winning."
"And what do you need me for? Sounds like you have this all figured out? Or better yet, how the hell did you find me?"
"Castiel had me checking up on Bobby Singer once a month. Imagine my surprise when one month I do as ordered and find he's taken in a stray and not just any but Adeline Winchester and as a special bonus she seemed to be an angel."
Adeline picked up her glass and gulped down what remained in the glass and stood up. "Why didn't you tell him?"
Balthazar shrugged his shoulders. "Seemed like you wanted an out. Besides the moment he would've found out about you, he would come seek you out and he's needed in Heaven right now."
"And you, sounds like you just went and abandoned him when he needs you." She set her glass in the sink and moved her arms behind her head and stretched her back out. "War is really not my cup of tea."
Adeline looked Balthazar over and sighed. "Anyways, we can get the weapons split them up and hey, Casie boy has more of a chance. What do you say? After all we have a shot at getting them with the two of us. Especially considering you're an arc."
"Fine." Adeline answered agreeing and was about to ask him what the plan was but he snapped his fingers and they were in Heaven. Adeline looked around amazed, it was beautiful. "No time for checking out the scenery, we have to go to where the weapons are held then get out before we're made."
Adeline looked over at him and saw his true form. His wings so white they looked blue, his feathers perfectly aligned. Balthazar had only one head but his features were beautiful, ethereal and she could find herself looking at his true form all day, the way his grace formed making the image of a man. Balthazar smirked at her, "I know, I am a thing of beauty. Perhaps though you should take a look at yourself." Adeline looked down at herself and her eyes widened in surprise. Her body was gone along with Balthazar's and in place was her grace swirling about. But her grace was different that his, his was blue and white hers was gold, purple and white. Her grace was swirling all around her forming the body shape she had as a human not settling on a solid form and was more light than anything. "Whoa, trippy." She commented and Balthazar rolled his eyes then looked around his eyes narrowing some. "Come on, we've got to go." He snapped his fingers and they found themselves in some bushes near a white building. "The weapons are in there. But they're guarded by some of Raphael's men. That's why I need you. I can't take care of them all by myself."
Adeline saw four other angel's guarding the place and they all looked beautiful, all different in how their grace formed them, one had the head of a rhino even. "Okay, so what's the plan?" Adeline asked Balthazar. He pulled out his blade, "I was thinking a good charge and stab." He told her before he actually ran over to him. "How the hell is he still alive?" Adeline asked under her breath before she moved herself behind the angel that had went over to where Balthazar and rhino head were locked in battle. Adeline aimed her blade at the angel's head and he ducked then turned around was about swipe at her with his own blade but at the sight of her he seemed to tremble she thought. "Who…who are you?"
Adeline took the distraction and stabbed him, "Your worst nightmare." Adeline smirked pulling her blade out as the angel's light disappeared and he lay limp with his wings burnt around him. Adeline ducked feeling something about to swing at her and she kicked her leg out and heard a groan. Adeline turned quickly swiping her leg underneath the angel behind her and he fell. She used her grace and kept him pinned there looking over at Balthazar who just made a killing thrust in the angel attacking him. Adeline turned back to the angel below her, she felt her wings stretch out behind her and the angel below her eye's widened at the sight of her wings. Vaguely she wondered what they looked like as she bent down and stabbed him in the chest. One less opponent for Cas she thought before she tucked her blade back. She turned back to Balthazar and saw he was looking at her wings. "What?" Adeline asked him wondering why he was looking at her. "How the hell did Cas, get bonded with an amazing thing like you?" He said then shook his head and went over to the door and opened it. The weapons were inside and Balthazar grinned and snapped his fingers taking away half of them. "Well, half for me. Half for you." He told her and Adeline looked at the ones that remained a bit in awe before she snapped her own fingers and hid them under the pyramids.
"Well that was fun. We'll have to do this again sometime." Balthazar told her before he snapped his fingers leaving her there. Adeline looked around the empty room and she dropped the wall she had for the angel radio and as soon as she did she was met with some chatter.
"Quick, I think something happened to Nashorn, Tragen and Affe. I can't feel their presence anymore."
"I think someone's broken into the vault."
"How, those three were some of the most skilled fighters?"
Adeline wondered about that, they seemed pretty easy to her. "Someone's here. I feel them inside."
"Raphael's not going to like this."
Adeline cursed realizing she had stayed here too long and pulled out her knife. "Might as well knock down the size of an army." She told herself just as the first angel came inside. He paused taking in her form and his mouth opened in shock but before he could do anything Adeline appeared behind him and stabbed him in the throat making an instant kill. Adeline turned behind around quickly and knocked the blade of the other angel that had come behind her before she had stabbed him too.
"You little bitch. What are you?" Adeline cursed as the blade scratched her arm and thought about sending a bolt of lightning down to hit the angel and it happened scorching her and Adeline stabbed her, finishing her off quieting her sounds of pain.
Adeline walked out of the room and cursed as five angels appeared. They were all looking at her with looks of surprise before their eyes narrowed and they all ran at her. Adeline moved and saw with amusement they had all just avoided missing each other. They all turned back to her. "What the hell is she?"
"She's an angel. I-I think she's an archangel."
Adeline overheard them. Her wings ached behind her she had folded them back when after Balthazar had commented on them and she had to stretch them out now. The angels all looked at her with awe before shaking themselves out of it and held on to their weapons tighter. Afraid of what could happen to them.
"Castiel, it seems there is some activity around where Raphael was keeping the weapons."
"I'll head there soon. I have to finish up here first."
Adeline cursed, she didn't have time for this. She waved her hands and her grace swirled around her blowing the angels back and pushed them onto their backs. "Sorry, nothing personal. But really you're on the wrong side of this war." Adeline told them before she cupped her hands underneath her mouth and blew fire at all of them. They all screamed in pain and Adeline mixed in her grace with the fire manipulation and she saw them all light up. She felt others coming her way and popped back to Bobby's house not bothering to check if the angel's she had pinned down were dead.
She collapsed on the floor at Bobby's house and was breathing heavily and closed her eyes and had fallen asleep instantly.
Gabriel appeared and looked down at her a clucked his tongue at her. "You can't handle stuff like that yet. I mean we didn't even work on moves like that." Gabriel bent down and scooped Adeline up in his arms healing the scratch she had gotten on her arm, he turned around and took a step and was in her bedroom setting her down on her bed. He took a look around and grinned. "Seems, you've really made yourself at home. But really that was a close one Ads. You didn't need that much fire or grace just a pinch would have killed them. And your other mistake was doing that whole spell to bring back basic human needs. That's why you passed out, you've could've handled it otherwise." Gabriel smiled down at her sleeping form. Gabriel snapped his fingers so she was underneath her covers instead of on them. He snapped again and had an apple ale appear on her bedside. "I've made that extra strong just so you know. You'll be able to feel a little buzz." He told her even though he knew she couldn't hear him.
Gabriel walked over to the window and looked at the dragon fly keychain there that was casting the sun's morning rays across the room in blues and greens. He rubbed his fingers against it with a smile recalling that night she had received it. He had been watching her ever since then. . He rubbed his fingers against it with a smile recalling that night she had received it. He had been watching her ever since then. "Really what do you like about dragonflies anyways?" He mussed looking back at her. He leaned against the window watching as her breathing eased and he grinned. "It seems I was wrong. About your wings, you only have two. But man." Gabriel whistled thinking back at the huge golden purple tipped feathered things. "Beautiful things." He thought back to how each feather seemed disorganized and out of place like someone had ruffled them up and grinned. "Your feathers match the state of your hair." He laughed amused casting one more look at her and snapped his fingers leaving a note by the ale before he left.
/
Castiel looked around the field amazed. "Who did this?" He asked turning to the angel next to him. "I don't know, nobody knows. But those angels were all killed by one person well actually we don't know about the ones who were stabbed with the blade but these five. They were all killed the same way. Only someone powerful could do this." She answered him and Castiel frowned. "The weapons are also gone." She added.
"Adeline, I wish you were here. You'd know what do make of this." He thought longing to have her with him. "Let's stay attentive. And listen for any signs of more attacks against Raphael. These are all his men. So perhaps whatever has done this is on our side. Maybe we can convince them to hand us the weapons." Castiel told her before he went back to where he had just been.
Castiel appeared in Adeline's heaven and lied down on the field. He's come here many times after he had found it. Her heaven was filled of the starry night and the soft patch of grass they had consummated in. He would come here always hoping maybe she would appear one day. He had no idea where her soul had went after she died and he wished he had enough power to find it. He thought about the deal he made with Crowley, he would then have enough power to defeat Raphael and to look for her soul and bring her back.
"I'll find you." He whispered in the cool night longing to touch her and feel her warmth.
/
A month later.
Adeline came downstairs to get a glass of water before she would go back to bed then jumped as Bobby blew into a party favor, the nose sounding like a horn in the quiet of the house. She turned her bleary eyes to him and wondered what the hell was up with him. "Happy birthday!" Adeline raised her eyebrow at him before she yawned. "Bobby it's three in the morning. You should be asleep." She grumbled walking into the kitchen and got a glass out of the cabinet and filled it up with water before turning back to face Bobby and leaned against the sink.
"I wanted to make sure you had a proper birthday celebration." He told her and she raised an eyebrow confused at what he was getting at. "With party favors and cake."
Adeline snorted, "More like a rude awakening."
Bobby opened up his door and beckoned her over and Adeline followed him out the door with an eye roll. "Look up." Adeline did and saw flying meteors and she smiled at the sight. "How did you even know I would be up?" She asked him. "I didn't. I was about to go upstairs and wake you when I heard you coming down the stairs."
Adeline snorted again amused at him. They stood there and watched the meteors fly across the sky until they were done.
"That was pretty awesome." Adeline yawned and Bobby nodded to her then a pair of headlights caught their attention and the car parked in the driveway and Adeline's eyes widened in surprise as Sam came out of the car. "That's a hell of a birthday present." She muttered looking over at Bobby noticing he didn't seem surprised at Sam being alive and all and mostly looked annoyed that he was here.
Sam walked over to them and saw Adeline and raised his eyebrows. "Addy…you're alive…" Sam said and Adeline looked him over and then he came over and gave her a hug. Something was different about Sam, something seemed off with him but she couldn't place it as Sam stepped back from her. But then again that could be because the brother she had thought was dead was now alive. "Come in, I'll explain everything." Bobby said as they both turned to him looking a bit angry.
/
Adeline was eating her birthday cake Bobby had bought her he had planned on giving it to here in the evening but he realized he needed something to make peace with her and had given it to her early. Seven am early. Bobby and Sam had told her that he had been alive for the past ten months and they had no idea who had brought him back. Sam then had found the Campbell's and had started hunting with them after he saw Dean living a normal life with Lisa and Ben. Bobby in turn had explained Adeline's appearance a few months ago and had told him she had her powers under control now.
Bobby had left to go pick up some of the beer Adeline liked after handing her the cake and was giving the two of them a chance to talk. Adeline picked up her fork and scooped in some more of the chocolate cake in her mouth. She was watching him and he was watching her unsure of what to say.
Adeline had heard Castiel and Dean sometimes talking to her but she had never once heard Sam talk to her and she felt strangely hurt at the revelation. That he had been alive and not once had she heard him say her name or think it.
Sam looked his sister up and now taking in the news that she was now an angel, he watched her scoop up another mouthful of cake. "Happy Birthday. I'm sorry…I don't have anything for you….I thought you were…well dead."
Adeline raised an eyebrow at her little brother. "Ditto."
Sam gave a slight chuckle then nodded his head at the cake. "Probably shouldn't eat that whole thing."
He thought for a second then scrunched his eyebrows at her. "I thought angels didn't need to eat?"
"They don't. I do." She answered not elaborating that she didn't really have to if she lifted a certain spell on her. Sam nodded his head. "So…have you been on any hunts?"
"A few." She replied bored hiding her hurt. Sam nodded then scratched his neck. "Have you seen Cas?"
Adeline sighed. "No. He doesn't know that I'm alive." She answered then recalled how Sam had come over to Bobby's at almost three in the morning. "What brings you here anyway?" She asked him with a raised eyebrow. "I needed some more holy water and silver bullets and Bobby's was closer to where my last hunt was than the Campbell's."
Adeline got up and poured herself a glass of milk before she returned to the table. She wasn't sure what to talk about with Sam. "Hey Ads, happy birthday! Man you're twenty eight today. I bet you still wouldn't look a day over eighteen. Especially in your clothing choices. I mean really weren't you a little too old to have been wearing red sneakers anyways. Anyways, I got you some cotton candy and I found a stupid dragon fly cookie jar. I mean really they make those stupid jars in all kinds of shapes and designs. It's crazy."
Adeline excused herself for a moment and went upstairs to the bathroom then focused on Dean's voice and went to where it was. Adeline made sure she was invisible and watched as Dean set down the cotton candy and the cookie jar down by a rock that had her name on it. Next to her rock was one with Sam's name.
She saw a tear come down her brother's face and frowned feeling a bit guilty but it went away when Lisa came out the door and hugged him from behind. Lisa beckoned him to come back inside and he followed suit. "I miss her Lisa."
"I know Dean. I know. Well get some cake in honor of her for today." Lisa comforted him. Adeline walked over to the stones Dean had carved her name into she tapped her foot before she picked up the cotton candy and the jar. She left copies but she took the real things and held them close to her then turned and watched Dean and Lisa cook breakfast for Ben who was talking animatedly to them. She heard Dean laugh and she gave a small smile before she tapped her foot again and appeared in her bedroom. She set down the jar and cotton candy by the vase of blow pops in her room. Before she walked back downstairs to where Sam was still waiting for her. She frowned a little wondering what was up with her little brother but she just sat down where she had been and they waited till Bobby got back.
When he did the two of them stood up looking at him to take direction and he sighed realizing it was pointless that he had left. He took a look at the cake and saw Adeline hadn't even bothered to cut her a piece and instead had just worked on eating the thing with a fork. Bobby handed Adeline the beer she set it on the table not bothering to deal with it. Today, today was the day she was going to drink the ale Gabriel had left her.
His note told her he had jacked it up enough that she would get a nice buzz. It also informed her not to be stupid and asked her about her fascination with dragonflies. As soon as she had finished reading it, it folded into a paper dragonfly itself and she still kept it on the nightstand along with the ale.
She walked upstairs now to get it and was surprised at the blue roses on her bed and even more so at the dragonflies buzzing around her room. She picked up the bouquet and saw a note in them and opened it up as a few dragon flies landed on her head.
Happy Birthday my little protégé. Saw the mess downstairs and left you another super powered ale. Drinks all around. Xoxox- Your favorite Archangel.
Adeline snorted and opened up her cookie jar and saw the roses fit nice in there. She took the note and blew on it scrawling her thanks and asked him what she was supposed to do with all the dragonflies before she sent it to where he was.
She went over to the nightstand and picked up the ales and unscrewed the top off and took a long gulp. Just as the dragonflies popped and turned into confetti. Adeline jumped and had almost dropped her drink. She hated loud noises and looked at the confetti with a glare. She saw a new note on her bed and picked it up.
Nothing, I have the situation under control Ads. Hehe, you should've seen your face. Also, you seem to have something in your hair.
Adeline dropped the note knowing she would have been laughing her ass off if she was in his place but instead she just sighed then shook the confetti out of her hair and something else fell out and she picked it up and marveled at the little glass dragonfly.
"Adeline!" Bobby called and Adeline stuck the glass dragonfly into her jewelry box before she went downstairs.
"Yeah?" She asked Bobby taking a drink out of her bottle. "Sam's leaving." He informed her and Adeline looked over at Sam. "Do you want to come with me?" He asked her. "I'm heading back over to the Campbell's I know Samuel would welcome you with open arms." He continued. Adeline shook her head, "I'm really liking it here." She answered and Sam nodded then went over and gave her a quick hug then said goodbye to Bobby before he left them there.
Adeline took another gulp of her ale and was slightly impressed she could feel a slight buzz happening. "Something seems off about him." Adeline said to Bobby and he nodded agreeing with her just as she heard Castiel in her head. Acknowledging that it was her birthday and that she would be a year older now.

Month 12
Bobby looked over at Adeline amused. She had fallen asleep reading a comic book of all things and her shirt had risen showing off her piercing and tattoo. He snorted and wished his phone had a camera so he could take a picture.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a knock on his door and he opened it and was surprised to see Dean standing there along with Lisa and Ben. "Damn it." Bobby whispered. "It's good to see you, too, Bobby. It's been a while." Dean told him.
"If you're here, something's wrong." Bobby commented. "Bobby, this is Lisa and Ben."
"Well, It's nice to finally meet you two." Bobby welcomed them in. "Me casa sue casa. Maybe you want to just go upstairs. Tv's broken, but there's plenty of reader's digest. Just don't touch the décor, okay? Assume it's all loaded." He told them wondering if Adeline had shut her door or not but then sighed Dean was bound to find out anyway. "So…." Dean said just as Sam edged his way through the door. "Hey, Bobby." Sam greeted and he nodded his head at the youngest Winchester. "Sam."
Dean looked between the two of them. "You knew. You knew Sam was alive."
"Yeah." Bobby admitted wondering when would be a goodtime to bring up Adeline. "How long?" Dean asked him and. "Look.." He started but Dean interrupted. "How long?!"
"All year." He admitted. "You gotta be friggin' kidding me." Dean grumbled just as they heard something hit the floor hard. Dean went over to the noise and Bobby cursed telling him to wait just a second but Dean had already seen her. "You have gotta be kidding me?!" He roared and Adeline yawned then blinked and when she made out Dean's face in front of her she cursed and held herself back from just zapping out of there. Dean turned towards Bobby angry, "Her too Bobby. How long has she been here?!"
"Six months. I had just found out about her too back then." He answered as Adeline got off from the floor with another yawn. Then yelped in surprise when Dean grabbed her arm and crushed her in a hug. She hugged him back and waited for him to drop his arms but he wasn't, he just kept her there. "What the hell Bobby, you knew about Sam and Addy and you just kept them from me?!"
"And I'd do it again!" Bobby shouted back at him and Adeline felt Dean's arms squeeze her tighter, she didn't even think that possible. "Why!"
"Because you got out, and I was so damn grateful, you got no idea."
"Do you have any clue what walking away meant for me?" Dean finally released her and Adeline walked away from him catching her breath as Dean walked over to Bobby. "Yeah, a women and a kid. And not getting your guts ripped out at age thirty. That's what it means!"
Adeline looked over at Sam and he nodded his head at her and she did the same. He had sometimes called to get information and ask how she was doing even though it kind of sounded force to her but she didn't dwell on it.
"That woman and that kid…I went to them because they asked me to." Dean pointed his finger at Sam and her. "Good." Bobby told him. "Good for who? I showed up on their doorstep half out of my head with grief. God knows why they even let me in…."
Adeline was tired of hearing all the arguing and while Dean continued on she snuck upstairs and into her room. She was surprised to see a kid standing in her doorway looking at her dresser. Ben turned to her and his eyes widened. "I've seen pictures of you. And that cookie jar is at my house by a rock with your name on it." He nodded his head at the jar that still held the roses Gabriel had given her. They didn't even show signs of dying.
"Oh." Adeline said simply because she wasn't altogether sure what should be said in this situation. "Adeline." A voice behind her said and she sighed turning around. "Lisa. It's been a long time." Adeline greeted putting her hands in her pockets. Lisa narrowed her eyes at Adeline, "He's grieved you. I've even heard him make comments to you and Sam."
Adeline just shrugged her shoulders she knew that. She could hear him anytime he had and she found herself wondering just what type of things he said during the first six months when she couldn't have. Lisa came over and surprised Adeline with a hug. "He's going to be pissed at you but I think you did the right thing. He told me you know, how you left and made a family for yourself."
Adeline tensed at the news then relaxed into the hug. Lisa's was gentler than Dean's had been. "I'm sorry for your loss. I can only imagine what type of pain you've been through." Lisa smoothed down Adeline's hair and rubbed her back before she stepped away. Adeline was looking at Lisa in a new light then she heard Dean's shoes stomping upstairs. "Lisa, Ben. Can I have some time to talk to my sister?" He asked them holding back his anger and Adeline sighed knowing what was coming and she walked into her room and Dean followed behind her then shut the door.
He looked around surprised at how lived in the room was and then frowned seeing the cookie jar. "Funny, I got one just like that for you about two months ago."
"That's it." Adeline said not meeting his eyes and instead chose to look out her window. "What do you mean that's it?" Dean narrowed his eyes at her and she sighed. "That's the jar you got me, I ate the cotton candy."
"You were there." He growled. Bobby had told him Adeline had wings now and that's why she had stayed away for half a year. She had to get her powers under control or it would have been like it was a year ago with her power destroying her. Adeline just nodded and Dean came over to her. "You've heard me haven't you?" He asked her lowly and again she nodded. "Damn it Ads! You were alive and you knew how broken up your death made me and yet you just stayed here at Bobby's keeping in contact with Sam but not me."
"Whoa, hold your horses there. I had no clue about Sam until he showed up two months ago. Bobby didn't feel the need to inform me about him." Adeline said bitterly remembering how Sam had just showed up. She had been upset at first but Sam didn't really seem like Sam anymore and seemed to have cared less if Adeline was with him or not so really maybe Bobby had been doing her a favor.
"You should have come back to me as soon as you got whatever powers you got under control!"
"You were out Dean I saw you, Lisa and Ben they made you happy. If you knew I was alive you would've been itching to get back on the road and hunt. At least this way you had a normal life and I was able to have some normality." Adeline said coolly walking to her dresser and pulled out a sucker unwrapping it. She dropped the wrapper on the ground then stomped her foot making it disappear. Before Dean could comment about she had just done Sam opened the door. "Hey we gotta go after the djinn."
"Fine." Dean grumbled then turned back to Adeline. "Are you coming?" He asked her and she shook her head. "I have work tonight."
"Okay. This isn't over." Dean grumbled pointing at her then slammed her door behind him and Adeline fell back on her bed with a sigh. "Good to see you too Dean." She grumbled to herself. Wondering what was to come. Adeline…I hate this war against Raphael. I hate having to kill my brothers and sisters. I wish you were here. She heard Castiel's voice in her head. "I know, Cas…I know…" She whispered, that was something else she was going to have to figure something else about.
