The Legacy of the Saiyaness

Chapter 29: A Saiyaness's Scandal

Disclaimer: I do not own Dragon Ball Z, but I do own Letish and her techniques

"Ah! What a beautiful day!" Bulma said as she came back inside from picking up the newspaper. "The sun's out, there's a nice breeze going! I'd say it's the perfect day for a trip to the beach!"

"The beach...?" Letish said, cocking her head to the side. This would be the first she had even heard of such a thing.

"Yeah. Lots of people go there to tan, build sand castles, go swimming, look for sea—"

Her ears perks when she heard Bulma say "swimming" and burst into excitement. "Swimming?! Really?! Then what are we waiting for, let's go!"

"Or you can just chill and read a book, or something..." Bulma slowly passed the paper over to Vegeta as they watched Letish jump up and down while she cheered about being able to go to the beach.

"This is so great! Just glorious! I'm finally gonna have fun like normal people! I should really start getting ready!" she rambled on, speedily undressing herself in front of them nonchalantly.

They both were quick to cover their eyes, especially Vegeta using the newspaper. "What do you think you're doing?!" they screamed at her with dagger eyes.

"What?" She turned around to them, looking confused. "I'm getting ready so we can go to the beach," she said, innocently.

"Not like that! Put your clothes back on!" Vegeta yelled at her angrily.

Letish looked down at herself and back up to them. "Why? I'm going swimming."

"Then put a swimsuit on for Pete sake!" This aggravated Bulma and reminded her of the days when Goku would get naked whenever he went fishing when he was just a kid.

"Why would I need clothing to swim?" she questioned, folding her arms over her chest. "That's stupid, they would just get wet."

"That's why you wear a swimsuit!" Bulma carried on without Vegeta to help explain the use of wearing a bathing suit. "It's made so you can get it wet."

Letish tried picturing it in her head. 'Me in a suit specifically designed for the use of swimming...' She shook her head, stubborn. "Nope, just don't see it." Bulma fell over in exhaustion of having to explain Earth customs to Letish. "Why are you two making such a big deal out of me not wearing this so-called 'swimsuit'? You should know very well by now that all Saiyans grow up swimming naked, Vegeta. I'll even bet you did yourself."

"What? Is that true?" the scientist asked her husband

"Yes," the prince confirmed. "Saiyans are raised by their parents to swim naturally without clothing."

"Huh, well that explains a lot... No wonder you kept going skinny dipping in my pool when you were first staying here..."

"Now please put your clothes back on, Letish...!" Vegeta snarled, still shielding his eyes.

She pursed her lips and looked off to the side, annoyed. "What's the big deal? They're just body parts. Is this how all humans act, 'cause it just sounds silly."

"Just put them on, dammit!" he shouted while losing his temper.

"Damn... Alright. I wish my hair was longer so I could cover myself better," she said while pulling on some of her hair. Her tail moved around her so it could cover her lower regions as she blushed from embarrassment by the prince.

"Come with me," Bulma told her, pulling her down the hall to their room. Letish grabbed her clothes in the process and put them back on as they went. "I'll let you borrow one of mine."

"And how do you plan on making that work? Your breasts are far more developed than mine among other things," she stated, lightly poking Bulma in the chest.

Bulma swatted her hand away. "Not like that! I still have one from when I was younger."

"That makes more sense..." Letish put on one of Bulma's old two-pieces and looked herself up and down. Surprisingly, she wasn't fazed by the fact that it was a two-piece. "This is still weird, but I'll go along with it."

"Great. Why don't you call the Sons and invite them over?"

"Already on it!" Letish called the Son redidence and let Chi-Chi know about the beach party, where to meet and at what time to show up. After, Letish got something to eat from the fridge. She shut the door and Trunks was there.

"Oh, uh, hi, Trunks..." she stuttered.

"Hey..." Trunks looked her up and down. "Are you wearing a...?"

She swallowed and put on a smug face. "A swimsuit, yes. Why?"

"That's what I'm wondering..." he trailed off.

"We're having a beach party with Goku and his family," she explained, crossing her arms. "Now go put on a swimsuit... and quit gawking at me like that." She hurried to her own room.

"I wasn't gawking!" he blushed.

"Gawking at what?" Bulma asked.

He stuttered, "N-nothing!"

"By the way, don't fall behind on your training. I want you to keep up with Letish now that she's a Super Saiyan."

"She is?!" Trunks said, astonished.

He nodded. "Kakarot told me she finally transformed the other night."

"That's amazing... I suppose." the demi-Saiyan wondered how she reacted to her transformation.

"Yeah..." Bulma trailed off to process what she'd just heard while Vegeta left to get ready. She noticed her son was still around. "Letish must be really happy about joining the Super Saiyan club."

"I guess you could say that..." Trunks said, still thinking about Letish's possible reactions.

"Yeah—" They both snapped their heads around and surveyed each other. "Do you know something I don't?" they said simultaneously. "Like the reason why she hates the words 'Super Saiyan'?"

"Wait, how did you find out?" Trunks asked his mother.

"That doesn't matter. How'd you find out?" she repeated back to him.

"She told me before she went to train with Piccolo," her son explained.

"Oh wow... I'm gonna go see if she's alright." Bulma left and knocked on Letish's bedroom door despite it being open.

"You can come in," Letish said.

"Hi, Letish—where's your swimsuit?" Letish pulled up the hem of her hoodie she had put on over her two-piece. "Oh, I see you're still a little shy about wearing a swimsuit."

"I'm not shy, I merely don't see the point of getting clothes wet for fun."

Bulma sighed. "Right... I wanted to talk to you about something." She closed the door. "Are you doing ok? You know, emotionally?"

"Yeah, I've been better than I was weeks ago... definitely better than three years ago."

"Does it still hurt?"

"Of course, she was my mother and more."

"What do you mean by 'more'?"

Letish took a breath. "My mother and I have a lot more in common now. For her entire life, she's had to go through so much from issues with her father to losing my father, to having to care for me on her own. And taken my emotional baggage, I can see how much she had to sacrifice for me... She shouldn't have had to do all she did for me." She tried to keep herself from crying.

"Letish... don't say that. Parents are supposed to sacrifice for their children, no matter how hard it may be. It's our job. We know this the moment we welcome our little ones into the world."

"But she wasn't just my mother... but I screwed that all up." She wiped her eyes and sniffled.

Hearing Letish say these things about her mother made Bulma cry herself. But she remembered what she came to ask her. "Listen, I don't want you to be upset anymore today." Letish looked up at the heiress in surprise by her tone. "Just please take your necklace back and promise me you'll wear it. At least for today. We'll be surrounded by a lot of people and I don't want any craziness on a beautiful day like this."

The way Bulma requested this of Letish brought back nostalgic feelings of her mother. She was demanding but in a subdued manner that was far too familiar to argue. She bowed her head. "Alright."

Bulma was taken aback, not expecting her to relent so easily. She reached in her pocket and produced Letish's necklace, handing it to her. Letish put it on and looked back up. "I think we better get going."

"Sounds like a plan. I'll go check on the boys." Bulma left Letish alone to her thoughts after that. The Saiyaness held her locket next to her heart, hoping to keep her promise.

The Sons and Briefs and even Krillin's family met up at the beach and set up their things. Letish noticed how the heat had changed and the weather was more humid. She rushed to get her hoodie off and jumped into the water. She dove further down and started exploring the life underneath.

"Where's she going?" Goten asked.

Trunks scratched his head. "Not exactly sure."

A little Marron walked up to the boys with a pail in her hands. "Goten, Trunks?"

"Yeah," they said.

"Can you help me build a sun castle pretty please?" she asked them with wide eyes.

They smiled back at her in agreeance. "Sure."

While they were helping Marron, Goten could tell Trunks had something weighing on his mind. "Hey Trunks, is something wrong?"

Trunks didn't feel comfortable revealing Letish's secrets without her permission, but was unsure how to handle what she had to him. "I've just been distracted for a while by something Letish told me a week ago."

"What did she say?" Goten asked.

Trunks stopped in between adding on to Marron's sand castle. "I can't really say, it's not my place..."

"Oh come on, you can tell me. I'm great at keeping secrets!"

"Alright, but keep it down... She told me that the man who killed her family and friends was going to use her as a weapon," he told Goten quietly, "because he'd heard your dad beat Frieza as a Super Saiyan."

"What?!" he exclaimed. Trunks shushed him. "So it that the reason why she attacked my dad?"

"Probably. It would make sense. That and the time she went crazy on us when we were just supposed to be 'training'."

"Gosh, she must've been mad when she found out about that. And now she's stuck with my dad in this weird 'bond' thing."

"Don't repeat this to anyone, Goten! Letish told me this in confidence," Trunks warned him. "I don't want her to feel like she can't trust me."

Letish came up to surface and picked up a beach ball. "Hey Goten, Trunks? Either one of you wanna teach me what I do with this ball?"

"N-no thanks, I'm good," Goten uttered nervously.

Trunks elbowed him in the side. "Calm down before she thinks something's up and starts asking questions."

"You just told me my dad's practically the reason why she lost her friends and family, of course I'm gonna be nervous...!"

"Sure, I'll show you," Trunks said, going over while Goten tried to get the thought of Letish planning to go after his father again out of his head.

"Daddy, look at my castle!" Marion called out to Krillin.

"That's amazing, Marron! Did Goten and Trunks help you build it?"

She smiled. "A little bit."

18 chuckled. "Make sure to thank them."

Marion went up to Goten and thanked him. Goten accepted it but Krillin and 18 noticed he was a little jumpy about it.

"Hey Goten, are you feeling ok?" asked Krillin.

"Yeah, totally. I feel great..." he said unenthusiastically before hurrying off.

"Well that was weird," 18 said.

"Wonder what's bothering him..."

"Oh I know, daddy!"

They looked at their daughter, surprised. "You do?"

"Yeah. Trunks said that a man came and hurt her mom, and he heard about a super something..."

Krillin had a hunch on what she meant. "Did he say Super Saiyan?"

"I think so, and he said something about a freezer and her being a weapon too."

"What?" 18 said.

"That'll be all, Marron. Why don't you go play some more?" Marron agreed and left to go play around her castle per her father's command. "So let me get this straight: Letish's mother was killed by some guy who heard about Super Saiyan somehow."

"She also mentioned a freezer..."

"She didn't mean freezer, she meant Frieza—that's it! I knew she was upset when I said Goku defeated Frieza as a Super Saiyan!" he said aloud, frustrated.

"But how does all that have anything to do with Letish being a weapon?" his wife asked.

Krillin thought about her question for a while and came up with the only logical explanation that came to mind. "Maybe the guy had plans to get her to go Super Saiyan."

"You're probably right."

"Damn... Does Goku already know about this?"

"I don't think so. It'd be better for all of us if we don't mention it."

He nodded. "Right."

Hours passed by and Letish was in the middle of reading a magazine when she got up and walked over to Goku. "Hey, you wanna do a quick little spar, give these people a preview of what's to come? Don't tell me you already forgot," she chuckled, putting her hands on her hips. "Oh we could go deep sea diving or something! Not many kids my age around here other than Trunks and Goten. And speaking of him, he was acting strange earlier—" She saw Goku had his head down. "Something's up with you... what is it?"

Goku refused to look at her, knowing fully well that he wouldn't be able to not tell her what Goten said. She kept telling him to explain his predicament. Letish grew frustrated and grabbed his chin, forcing him to make eye contact with her. She scowled cluelessly at him for a moment or two before her hand removed itself.

Letish backtracked as her body started to shake. "How... how do you know...? That's impossible... I never told you..."

He looked at her, helplessly. "Is it true, Letish?"

"I'm asking you the questions...! You don't get to turn this on me! How the hell did you find out?!"

"I guess that answers that..." He frowned disappointingly. He couldn't believe it was true.

She grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him. "Dammit, you tell me how you found out about that right now, Goku!"

"Why didn't you tell me?" he said, discouraged.

Letish really wanted to tell him that it wasn't his business, but that would only confirm what he thought. "Stop avoiding my question!" She screamed in tears.

"Then answer mine!" he finally snapped at her, getting in her face. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Letish drew back in shock of his outburst, but quick regained her ground in the argument. "Don't you think you sound rude, Goku? I found my friends dead and scattered like common trash and watched as my mother was killed! That was my burden to bare, not yours!" She inched closer to his face. "How dare you try to take offense to my discretion!"

"The loss you suffered was your burden, but my being the reason that man killed them is mine, Letish!" Just as much as she felt entitled to keep her past to herself, Goku felt he needed to have been there for her to ease her pain. It made him sick knowing about it because he promised to protect her.

"It didn't have to be, it wasn't your loss, Goku!" She searched his eyes for explanations he wasn't giving her and growled furiously. "I can't believe you're honestly trying to make this about you!"

"That isn't my point!" he shouted, causing her to choke on her words. "You should've have told me that my fight with Frieza led to the destruction of the people you care about! I had a right to kno—!"

Goku didn't mean to word himself lousily. He meant to say that he needed to know the reason why she was having issues with him if she was indeed having issues. Regardless, it turned out that way. Letish uppercutted him in the jaw and sent him into the ground. Chi-Chi called his name, rushing to his side. He grunted as se helped him sit up. Goku looked at her in shock.

"Get that ridiculous look off your face." She started to slowly walk towards him. "You know you deserved that, telling me you had a right to know haunting moments in my life, moments you weren't even there to live through!" She powered up, white ki flaring around her.

Goku told Chi-Chi to step away and got back to his feet. "You didn't let me finish."

"No! I'm so tired of you guys acting like everything's your business! Ever since I arrived, all of you've been dying to learn all about me! Must your precious little Earth be protected at all costs, even if that includes snooping on a girl who isn't even a threat to it? Leave what is my baggage to be mine and mine alone!"

Her anger exploded inside of her as she screamed at the top of her lungs in frustration. Steam started to protrude from her skin all over and her body shook from having to relive the day of her departure in her head. Bolts of lightning shot out from her being and into the ground, causing it to shake. Her irises filled with a deep but illuminating crimson hue and an outline of a flame appeared inside each of her pupils. Her screams reached their climax and the stone on her necklace pulsated a matching bright red color as she entered her Super Saiyan state.

Everyone who was well informed on what's happened regarding Letish and Goku's relationship was thinking the same thing, which happened to be a multitude of questions: when did Letish go Super Saiyan, how was she able to, how did it feel to finally be a Super Saiyan, etc. Most of them, with the exception of a few people, left in a hurry to leave this between the two Saiyans.

"I could see the truth in your eyes, Goku... You're not only dealing with the person you're bound to, but I can read anyone's eyes and feel a disturbance in their vibration when they lie to me... If you won't tell me how you found out, I'll find a way to pull it out of you!" She balled up her fists, which gave off steam and combusted, along with her feet. The sand beneath and around them became burnt as she approached Goku.

Right before Letish got to him, Chi-Chi stepped in her way with her arms stretched out. Everyone including Goku yelled at her to get out of the way. Letish remained silent. "Listen up, missy! You've already tried picking a fight with my husband more than once! If you think I'll let you hurt him anymore, think again!"

Without hesitation, Letish fazed out of view and behind Goku. She grabbed his hair and launched him backward before fazing to him and driving her foot into his stomach, plunging him into the water.

Goku darted from out of the water, panting and staring back at her. "Let me talk to Letish, Rage."

"You aren't talking to Rage anymore! This is me, Goku!"

"What? But your eyes... I thought..."

"There are many things I still don't understand about my powers, but my body has a way of informing me of what happens deep inside... You see, it seems as though my anger became too overwhelming for me to contain anymore! By truly letting go and allowing myself to accept my anger completely, I was able to take control of Rage's powers! And if I was able to do that while wearing my necklace, it means I can one day be rid of it for good!" She laughed, snapped the chain from her neck and tossed it into the sand.

Goku had difficulty following what Letish was saying. The two things that clicked with him was that she unlocked Rage's power and she could somehow no longer need her necklace anymore, but he still wasn't exactly sure how. "I honestly don't know if I should be happy or worried for you, Letish. What do you mean you might not need it anymore?"

"Before moments ago, the only way I could tap into any of the powers my emotions have used was to take off my necklace. Rage and the rest of them had the power, the power that is now literally within my grasp." She watched as she added more intensity to her fire while clenching her fists tightly. "Because I let the pain and anger free, my power is no longer bound to Rage! There is no need to fear anymore! I know now that I don't have to hide my true self, at least not for long! I can use the information I've learned today to unlock my other powers! These are happy times, Goku! Don't you see? I'm smiling, because for the first time my potential is not in the hands of other people!"

Goku smiled at his protectee. She had found a way to unlock her power without relying on her emotions. The Saiyaness seemed really happy, which he considered a job well done. "That's great news. I'm happy to hear that you were able to push beyond the boundaries and attain this power for yourself—" He stopped when she held out her arm, charging a energy ball with blazing flames.

"However I can control this power while keeping sole consciousness, my emotions can still intensify my attacks no matter which one I'm currently influenced by. To put it simply, I can still torch your ass to a significant degree whether I'm angry or not," she sneered with a grit in her voice.

The Saiyan tried to remain calm and rational just in case anything he couldn't possibly predict happened. "I'm actually really glad you aren't under any influence right now, because this needs to be between the two of us."

"I agree." She lowered her arm, extinguishing her flame. "Would you prefer we move this some place else so you can explain why we're in this predicament?"

'Dammit, she's very persistent,' Goku cursed to himself. "I'm sorry but I still can't tell you."

"You keep saying that but you're my protector. You can't keep the truth from me if I'm involved, which I am!" She stopped to read his eyes better. Her eyes grew slightly when she finished. "... You're protecting someone." Goku started to panic and became uncontrollably fidgety. It would be fair to say that he was fearful of what she might do to him or Goten if she found out. "You are, aren't you! Dammit Goku, now it's even more imperative that you tell me who told you! You think I want to hurt you?!"

"No!" He thought about the question more. "At least I hope you don't..."

"Don't be stupid! Of course I don't want to hurt you! But you can't tell me that you knowing about the circumstances that led to my mother's death doesn't affect your bond to me! Yes, it happened years before we even met but this was the one thing I didn't want you to know! So please tell me how this came to be!" Letish begged him.

Before Goku could say anything else, Goten stepped and with a loud and clear voice, he announced that it was he who had told Goku, saying that it accidentally slipped out. Letish was caught off guard by this. As far as she knew, he couldn't have found out from her because she never told him. But soon after, Trunks stepped up to admit he told Goten to vent but his intent wasn't vicious. He rambled on nervously, trying to make Letish understand his situation.

However, she remained floating in the air with no verbal or physical response. Everyone watched to see what she would do next and became concerned when the silence grew longer than it needed to be. Goku was especially worried for her, calling her name.

Letish fell weakly to her knees. Goku panicked and went to her.

Trunks felt uneasy about coming clean and went to her. "I'm so sorry...! I shouldn't have blabbed my mouth to anyone... It wasn't my place to do—"

She got up on her feet, reeled her arm back and slapped Trunks across the face, grunting in anguish upon contact. Bulma called out his name in horror while Vegeta tried desperately to hold back from intervening. Trunks was surprised by what Letish did to him, staring back at her blankly.

"That was for disrespecting me, Trunks!" The tears she had been pushing back for some time now finally streamed out of her eyes. Letish couldn't believe what he'd done to her, just saying his name made her sick. "How could you tell Goten what I told you in confidence?!"

"I don't know! I mean, I didn't know what to do, knowing what happened to you!" he attempted to explain. "I didn't know he would tell Goku—"

"That's no excuse!" She turned the back of her hand toward him and swatter him again with just as great of force, causing his to lose his balance momentarily. He staggered to regain it this time. "And that's for making a mockery of what my mother did to save me!" Sorrow took over as tears gushed from her eyes. A loud and piercing screech poured out of her mouth and shot into the clouds, parting them and producing snow.

"Letish, you need to calm down!" Goku cautioned her.

"Why should she?! I've had it with all of you! You're nothing but selfish jerks! Why can't you leave her alone?"

"Enough! Letish, I know you can hear me! You need to let this go! I know what happened in your past is hurting you but it isn't worth all of this!"

"How could you say that? Her mother has been wronged and he needs to understand the mistake he's made!"

"But is it worth hurting your friend over it?" he asked Letish if she could still hear him.

Her body spasmed in response to his proposition and her eyes grew big. "Friends don't do this to each other!" The tear marks on her cheeks froze over. The reflection of her bright eyes bounced off of them.

"I know that, Letish, and I'm sorry—" Trunks started to say before Sorrow cut him off.

"You shut your mouth"—she gathered the snow falling around her and used it to incase her arms in ice crystals—"unless you want to feel her agony!" This quickly silenced the demi-Saiyan. "You're still in my way, Goku."

"I can't let you keep this up. This was all a big mistake."

"Trunks' mistake. That's why I'm teaching him a lesson."

"Not like this. You aren't channeling your grief in a healthy way"

"Don't talk to her about channeling her grief! Her loss has been exploited enough and I won't tolerate it any longer!" She started to levitate higher into the sky with her arms stretched out. Her hands tensed up as she waved them to her sides, freezing the water below. Her fingers flexed partially to break up some of the ice into chunks before she lifted it up and crushed it to shards with a clenching of her fists.

'What am I going to do?' Goku thought to himself. 'She needs to get ahold of herself again, nothing can be done about what's happened today...' His mind raced back to when he learned his fight with Frieza drove that man to kill Letish's friends and mother so he could pull a great power out of her for his own malicious reasons. He kept putting the blame on himself, specially since he was now her protector. As irrational as it was, his guilt gave the Saiyan a near-perfect idea. All he need to do was have just enough luck on his side. "If you're going to take your pain out on anyone, it should be me."

"No! What are you doing?!" Chi-Chi exclaimed, almost about to attack Goku for saying such ridiculous things if it weren't for their son Gohan holding her back.

"Gohan, get your mother out of here," Goku promptly ordered his son.

The demi-Saiyan picked his mother up and flew off as she shouted, "Don't do this, Goku!"

Sorrow stared at Goku with wet eyes, but he could see they were tired as well. He only needed a little bit more time. "I told you this was Trunks' doing, he shall pay for what he did."

"All he did was confide in a friend for help," he paused to swallow a lump in his throat he didn't know was there before. "I am the reason why your mother's dead, aren't I?"

"I know what you're trying to do and it won't work. I'm in control of Letish's body now, I make the decisions on her behalf."

"I know you would much rather beat me up. The man who killed your mother wanted to use your powers and make you into a weapon. And correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he planning on forcing you to turn into a Super Saiyan, the same exact thing that defeated Frieza?"

"Shut up!" Sorrow snapped. She hated what he was doing; it was distracting her from her true goal and making him a target, which she did not want to happen.

"It must be pretty hard having a protector who consequently led to you losing everyone you ever cared about. Kinda ironic, don't you think?"

His wording had started to become more vicious and daunting for Sorrow because even though she was in control of her body, that included Letish's heart and in her heart the Saiyaness did not want to make her protector the bad guy anymore. "I mean it, Goku, this isn't a game!" She directed the shards of ice in Trunks's direction, making his flinch.

"They were all you had and just like that they were snuffed out. Sure the only one you had to watch die was your mother but that had to hurt. She raised you on her own and gave you everything you could ask for up until her last breath, before that guy totally axed her off."

More tears welled up in her eyes. Sorrow could feel what his words were doing to Letish's heart, grasping her chest in shock. She was at a total loss for words. Neither of them understood why he was talking to her like this. "Stop it... why are you saying such things to her? Can't you sense what your words are doing to her...?"

Goku could sense what he was doing to his protectee. His eyes stung just from hearing the sound of his own voice in such a disgraceful tone. However to him, this was the closest shot he had to getting Sorrow's attention off Trunks. Her words also told him Letish could hear him clearly somehow. This meant she was closer to unlocking Sorrow's powers, so whatever was about to happen would be worth it in the end. He took a short breath and blinked before finishing, locking his eyes onto hers. "If you ask me, it's as if I killed her myself. So why don't you make me pay once and for all."

Sorrow stared blankly at him as her icy tears shattered off her face. "If you truly insist on convincing me... then fine." At that moment her eyes burst again and Sorrow could no longer hold back how she felt. Her hand relaxed and she let the ice shards fall down to the sand before rushing down to Goku with an icy aura emanating around her being.

The Saiyan readied himself, shoving her hand into his pocket. Right as he reached his arms out, her hand made contact with the center of his chest. Goku immediately felt a chilling sensation rush through him, stiffening his breathing. Small grunts were the only sounds he could produce as he gasped for air, but the more he tried the harder it was to breathe. The Saiyan dropped down to a knee weakly as he wrapped his arms completely around her neck, making the clicking sound her necklace makes once the magnetic clasp is closed.

Letish snapped out of it, regaining control over her body, just as Goku fell to his other knee. Letish reacted quickly and jabbed him in the chest with two fingers, infusing heat into his body. The Saiyan could finally breathe again and coughed painfully. "Goku, are you ok?!"

He fell back, laying his arm on his knee. He felt relieved knowing his plan worked out. "Yeah, I'm fine..."

"Why would you say those things to me?" she asked him earnestly. The hurt stilled remained in her eyes. It made no sense that her protector would do that to her.

He sighed, unsure of himself. He got Letish to come back, but that didn't change or make up for the damage that was done. And he still had an unanswered question. "You tell me... Is it true? Do you see me as the reason why you lost your mother?"

"Goku..." She sat down on top of her legs, looking him in the eyes. "I understand you felt you had to provoke me to snap me back to reality, but I have my necklace now. To even ask me that again is a hurtful and dangerous."

"Just give me an answer!" he pleaded. "Am I on the same level as the man who killed your mother in your eyes?!"

Letish felt offended by him, as if he should know better. "Of course you're not! I would never think that! Sorrow meant it when she told you and I mean it when I'm telling you right now! Why are you even asking me this?!"

"Because I don't believe you!" She just looked at him confused. "You had to watch everyone you've ever known be taken from you at a young age! That guy sought after you because he had heard of the Super Saiyan who defeated Frieza and he wanted to make you into a weapon! You can't say that you don't blame me!"

She growled in annoyance. "I'm fifteen for crying out loud, I can take—!"

"But you were twelve when you lost your mother! You were still a kid...!" He snapped back.

Letish was still holding back a little. She knew all of that was true, but she wanted to stop pinning the blame on other people. "So what's your point, Goku?"

"I want to hear the words come out of your mouth! Stop trying to be strong for me and everyone else! I'm your protector! Let me do my jo—!"

"That's it! I've had enough!" The Saiyaness grasped the end of her left earring and snapped it off. Holding a tiny clear box between her fingers, she chucked it behind Goku as she opened her hands wide in front of her, causing the box to expand until it stood taller than the Saiyan.
