Chapter 32 The Bidding Begins

Robin and Emma were having breakfast. Her uncle would be keeping her that night but Robin wanted to make her cupcakes for class and make her a special breakfast. She made heart shaped strawberry pancakes with heart shaped eggs and sausages.

"Mommy this all looks so good." Emma smiled and thanked her.

"Are you going to give Jase a heart card today?" Robin smiled at her precocious daughter.

"I am going to give him a card. Do you have the one we made special for daddy?" Emma nodded.

"I am sure that he will love it but mom, I am getting a little old for glitter cards. Maybe we can go to make a clay craft or something." Robin ruffled her hair.

"You are never too old for art and that card is a masterpiece." They dined and chatted then Robin took her to school.

Robin had insisted that Jason meet her at the auction. He still was not happy with it but she convinced him that he had nothing to worry about. Philippe was a clown that she dated when she was an intern in Paris. She had explained that it wasn't too serious and that he ended it because she wouldn't commit. They had been friends before they tried to dip their toes into the dating pool. Jason controlled the urge to roll his eyes when Robin explained the story to him.

The auction had begun and Simone was the emcee. She stepped onto the stage looking radiant in blood red. The theme was red and white.

"Hello ladies and gentlemen. We have a very special evening planned for you. An evening of dancing, dining and romance if you are lucky." She beamed at the crowd.

"All for a good cause. It is to support our Annual Nurse's Ball and to fund leukemia research. I know that you are not here to hear me yammer on so I will bring out the first lady. She is co-owner of this fine establishment. Carly Jacks." Simone smiled as Carly came out on the stage.

"We will start the bidding at 500 dollars." Franco made the first bid. Carly was dressed in a short red dress that she could barely walk in.

"Okay we have 500 dollars, going once. Going twice." Sonny put up a bid for 10000 dollars because he knew that Franco could not compete. Carly shot a glare his way.

"Deal, 10, 000. Mr. Corinthos you may join your date on the dance floor." Carly reluctantly joined him. Franco stormed off with a plan in mind.

"Next up we have Ms. Sam McCall, this is a very special occasion for Ms. McCall. Her son suffered from Leukemia and was treated at General Hospital by Dr. Clay. He is in his second year and is doing fine. Starting the bidding at 500 dollars." Sam wore a short white dress with her boobs nearly spilling over.

Silas paid 20,000 dollars for a date with her. Patrick had tossed his hat in but he wasn't crazy.

"Next up is Port Charles' very own Dr. Robin Scorpio. I have known this woman since she was yay high." Simone gestured. "She has grown into a phenomenal woman and doctor. She has cracked several codes in research and pathology in that genius brain of hers. I could go on but she hates that." She smiled.

Robin came out with a blush. She was wearing a long white gown that had a red underlay and straps. She accented with diamond jewelry, red shoes and a matching clutch. She was stunning. Jason took an inhale of breath. Simone started the bidding at 500. Jason made the first bed but Jacques came in with 10,000 off the bat. Philippe countered with 20,000 knowing that he had competition.

"Two hundred thousand dollars." Jason said causing Robin to shoot an incredulous glance his way. Philippe came from old money. His family owned a global pharmaceutical company that he was now running. They had billions.

"1 million dollars." Philippe gave Jason a look that said to give up. Robin's mouth dropped opened. She looked at Philippe.

"Philippe êtes-vous fou? Que faites-vous ? (Philippe are you mad? What are you doing?)" Robin stared him down.

"Collecte sur le dîner, vous me deviez mais renflouées sur lorsque vous êtes revenu ici pour sauver que . (Collecting on the dinner you owed me but bailed on when you came back here to rescue that.)" He fired back with a glint in his eye. She shook her head telling him to stop. Then her eyes pleaded with Jason telling him not to counter the bid. She knew that ELQ had some problems. So his stocks weren't worth as much as they once were. He had been a very rich man from the business as well. The challenge in his eyes told her not to think about it and she thought that he was being ridiculous.

It was chaos as everyone chattered about the bid. Jason conceded and Philippe moved to the stage. They argued in French all the way to the dinner table. Liz came the closest to the highest bid at 100000. Robin and her mysterious friend were the talk of the evening.

"Robin, I always pegged you for brilliant. What the hell are you doing with him." She crossed her arms.

"I am so angry with you." He sighed.

"Give me a dance, 30 minutes of your valuable time then I will let you go." She stared at him in disbelief.

"You just paid." He waved his hand dismissively.

"Nonsense. It is a tax write off luv. Don't worry about it. So tell me, what is going on there?" She sighed.

"It is a long story Lip." He frowned at her nickname for him. She sipped her champagne.

"Do you remember how we talked about the protocol? Well in recent months his full memory has returned. He is… No one can really understand. We spent a lot of time missing each other. We had become friends again a long time ago. Honestly, my marriage. Let's just say, he makes me happy and I don't want to hear you speak bad about him or call him that like he is subhuman." He nodded and they chatted. She showed him pictures of Emma.

"Well Luv she is absolutely gorgeous just like you. He looks pretty pathetic. You go to him. I just really wanted to piss him off to see where he was. I also wanted a chat. Maybe lunch before we go back." He stood to pull out her chair. She stood then hugged him. They kissed cheek to cheek. Carly approached.

"I cannot believe you went on a date with someone else." Phil looked at her.

"That is usually how these things work, yes?" Carly smirked.

"Careful, she is a diseased maneater. She will only chew you up and spit you out. What do you men see on her?" Phil not being able to believe that she went there.

"The more accurate question Carly, is what men see in you. It is like that… what is it luv. That commercial that you were always going on about?" Robin chuckled.

"Tootsie pop Lip." He flashed his grin at her.

"Yes, now where were we. Oh yes, why men are interested in you. The world may never know. I for one do not care to toots. You are not every man's type." He chuckled condescendingly leaving her fuming. Robin giggled.

"That is one of the reasons we get on mate." She kissed his cheek then ran to find Jason.

Robin stepped onto the terrace. Jason immediately covered her with his jacket. "I am sorry. I thought."

"I am more concerned with the fact that you did not think that I could handle it. It was a little embarrassing for me. You know, you might not know this but I do have a fraction of an ego." She smiled at him.

"Yeah and besides, I knew one of those jerks would go higher. I grew up a bit of a rich entitled ass that way." He pulled her close to him. "Besides there was no way I was letting you spend the entire evening with him." He smiled then tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Oh?" She offered a teasing smile.

"Hell no. I would have whisked you away for a dance then whisked you out of the door and into the suite I have reserved upstairs." He kissed her then took her hand.

"I never took you for jealous Jason." He laughed out loud.

"I was good at hiding it." He led her back into the ballroom. Phil approached them and Robin formally introduced them.

"Nice to meet you. Well, aren't you just a marvel of modern medicine." He smiled but Jason remained silent. Phil looked at Robin. "Well, luv, since my expensive date has abandoned me, I am going to take off. I will see you at our meeting." He looked at Jason.

"You seem to have a third chance. Don't blow it." He told him with his eyes or else. Jason just smirked but remained silent.

"Goodbye Lip." He smiled.

"And for heaven's sake get rid of that awful bleach blonde friend of yours. She is like nails on a chalkboard." He walked away.

"So Lip knows our story?" He looked at her. Now he understood why he had called him that.

"Yes we were friends Jason. I told him that he is not to speak poorly of you. He was just being protective." Jason looked at her as they boarded the elevator.

"Hmm." Was all he said.

"I thought that we were going to your suite?" Robin asked confused when they had exited the lobby and headed for the Limo.

"Not just yet." When she got into the limo there were white calla lilies waiting for her. She smiled, Jason was never much for flowers and candy but he remembered. She kissed his cheek.

"Thank you Jason." She leaned against him as she smelled the flowers.

"You are welcome." He smiled then pushed the button to roll up the partition.

Jason had taken Robin on a romantic cruise. Similar to the one they had gone on before. Tears sprung to her eyes as she remembered how bored he was initially at the first one they had attended many years ago.

"You remembered." He smiled.

"I remember everything." He pulled her to him for a dance. She could not have asked for a better way to spend her evening.
