In a town called Spa, Team Asgard were staying at a hotel with a hot spring. Ruby raid in the water with the water reaching up to her neck, she was so annoyed after the job they did.
They practically destroyed half the town, Hiccup shot fire everywhere, Ragnar shot eyes at everything he missed an astronomic complete rampage. They were forced to pay for the damages out of the reward money.
"Nice moon tonight," said Astrid.
This was out of the thoughts Ruby couldn't help but agree with her. It was a full moon tonight and there wasn't a cloud in the sky so they were able to see all the stars.
"You seem a bit… uncomfortable," Ruby noted.
"I've always felt a bit more comfortable wearing armour," said Astrid shyly.
"Anyway, I've noticed the way you look at Hiccup," Ruby said slyly.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about," said Astrid, his face suddenly turned pink.
"Oh, come on. I've seen the way you look at him and I've seen the way he's looked at you," said Ruby.
"I've always admired his stubbornness and his determination," Astrid admitted. Then her face saddened. "But it wouldn't work out."
"I don't see why not," said Ruby.
"I don't like talk about it," said Astrid.
Ruby Princess she wasn't curious, but she didn't really want to press Astrid. Partly because he knew that it would make Astrid uncomfortable, but mostly because she didn't want to get on Astrid's bad side.
Later that night, Ruby decided to take a walk around the town and then Toothless appeared out of the bushes.
"What are you doing out here?" Toothless asked.
"Out for a walk, but more importantly what are you doing out here?" Ruby asked raising an eyebrow.
"I like flying around at night, it's a lot more peaceful," Toothless explained.
"Well, I see it survivors the head back," said Ruby.
Toothless nodded in agreement.
They both turnaround in order to head back to the hotel, but then two men, who appeared to be heavily drunk, wandered up towards them.
"What up girl?" one of them asked.
"What have a fun time with us?" the other one asked.
"Sorry, but I'm hanging out with my friends tonight," said Ruby nervously.
"Don't talk like that baba," said one of the drunks.
"I'd better go," said Ruby slowly backing away.
However, the two drunks grabbed her.
"There's no need to be shy," one of them said.
"Toothless! Do something!" Ruby yelled.
"Like what? Scratch his ankles?" Toothless asked.
"Anything!"
Toothless then pounced at them, but one of the drunks swatted Toothless away and grabbed Ruby's arm firmly.
"Let's have some fun," he said.
"As much as appreciate the attention, I've got some where to be," said Ruby trying to wiggle her way out of their grip.
However, suddenly her body wasn't able to move. She was stuck at the drunks' mercy.
"Don't worry baby we're going to have a great time tonight," said one of the drunks.
"It's going to be a great party," said the other one.
It was then that Ruby realised that they were Vikings and that there was nothing she could do to get away.
Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Leon punched on of the drunks and knocked him out. He then kicked the second one and he too collapse to the ground in a crumpled heap.
Ruby found she was able to move again and stared at Leon in disbelief.
"You're not hurt are you?" he asked.
"Leon?" said Ruby dumbfounded.
Leon quickly back away from her with a nervous look on his face. "I'm really sorry," he said.
"For what?" Ruby asked confused.
"There's two are renegades Vikings," Leon explained. "They've been getting drunk and started to targeting female tourists walking alone. I was after their bounties so you actually helped me out." Ruby just looked at him curiously. "Anyway, I'd better turn them in before they decided to wake up. I'll see you later."
Leon then grabbed the two drunks and began to walk away.
"Hang on a sec," said Ruby.
"Yeah?" Leon asked stopping.
"Thanks for rescuing me from those guys and for getting my Gate Keys back to me," said Ruby.
"No prob," said Leon. "It's nothing really."
"Hey, how about you and I go out together?" Ruby asked blushing slightly. Leon looked quite stunned and then she added quickly. "I didn't mean as a couple, but as friends."
Leon smiled. "Sure, but right after I drop these to off," he said.
Toothless, who had wandered back and saw the entire event, was just staring at the two of them.
"I'm going head back to the hotel," he said.
He then summoned his wings and flew off.
Moments later, they were sitting in one of the finest restaurants in town. It was a famous tourist attraction that was famous for its excellent food.
Ruby and Leon were sitting at the table, but Leon was slightly nervous.
"I've been meaning to ask you for a while, is it true you have bad history with Celestial Vikings?" Ruby asked. Leon then answer and Ruby scowled at him as she took a sip of her drink. "If you don't want to talk to me about it then I can respect that, but I don't think it's fair of you to judge me just because I am one."
"Yeah, you're right about that, sorry," he said apologetically. "Honestly, I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings."
"Can you tell me about it?" she asked. Leon just sat there not making a sound and Ruby sighed. "Well, whatever. I figured it couldn't hurt too much to ask." Ruby then got back onto her feet and prepare to leave the restaurant. "Thanks for saving me back there. I can finally see why you're so popular with the ladies. This was nice things were starting to get awkward and it was nice to talk to you. Anyway I better get going."
She was about to leave, but Leon grabbed her hand.
"Wait," he said and got up. Ruby stared at him nervously and was even more stunned when he had her. "Ruby?"
"What is it?" Ruby asked nervously.
"The truth is… I don't have long to live," he said.
Ruby just looked at him in horror. "You what?" she said. Leon then pulled away from her and she stared at him in confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Leon then looked away and began to laugh. "I sure fooled you," he said. "It makes for a pretty good pickup line doesn't it? Pull's at the heartstrings every time, show fooled you."
Ruby then slapped him across the face. "You jerk," she said angrily. "Geez, I totally believe you!"
She then left the restaurant in a huff.
"You certainly have a way with the ladies," said the restaurant owner.
Leon then answer, he was deep in thought. He could let his feelings get the best of him and he could and dragged Ruby into this. It was too late for him.
The next day, Ruby was sitting at the bar in Dragon Tail, which was still under construction, having lunch. Snotlout had saw her and attempted to chat her up.
"Hey, babe," he said smoothly. "What you say that I take you to see the sights?"
She looked at him with a rock-hard expression that must even Astrid's. "Put a sock in it," she warned.
"Yes ma'am," said Snotlout backing away quickly.
"And I thought Astrid was scary," said Adelaide.
"No kidding," said Ragnar.
Snotlout doing hang about, he ran as fast as his legs could carry him and Ruby carried on having her lunch.
"What's wrong?" Toothless asked. "You seem to be in a bad mood."
"Deal with it," said Ruby. "I'm always like this."
"This wouldn't have something to do with Leon would it?"
Ruby sighed. "Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind at the moment," she said.
"You could always talk to me," said Toothless.
"I'll pass. Thanks in me though."
Not too far away, Leon was watching from a distance and he could tell that he heard Ruby.
"It's my fault," he said. Then he suddenly felt a twinge of pain and look down to see is hand vanishing. "My time is almost up."
"You should tell," said a voice behind him.
He turned and saw Hiccup standing there.
"You know what she'd do," said Leon.
"She's still gonna figure it out, she has a very curious mind and intelligent," said Hiccup. "Not to mention she has a kind heart."
"And that's exactly why I can't tell," Leon sighed. He then turn to look back at Ruby. "Thanks for everything Hiccup. I really appreciated."
"I only wish I could do more," said Hiccup and walked away.
Leon looked up and saw several of his girlfriend had appeared at the bar talking to Adelaide. All they had one thing in common, they were beautiful.
"I'm looking for Leon. Where is he?" brunette asked.
"I can't believe he ran out on me," said a black haired girl.
"What are you doing here, huh?" a blonde asked redhead.
"I can ask you the same question," said the redhead.
"Leon come back!" the black haired girl yelled.
Ruby looked at them dumbfounded. "What's going on over there?" she asked.
"They're a bunch of girls from around town and from the looks of things they all think their Leon girlfriends," said Toothless.
"Last night he said that he wanted to break up with me," said the brunette.
"And he broke up with me to," said the black haired girl.
"And me," said the blonde.
"What's going on?" The redhead asked.
"Why doesn't he want me anymore?" the brunette asked.
"Well, uh—" said Adelaide nervously.
"Is he married to some other girl?" the blonde asked.
"I—no—"
"Who is she? Is it someone from the guild?" the brunette demanded.
"Ruby! Save me!" Adelaide yelled.
Ruby eyes were filled with horror, because she knew what would happen next and just as she thought Leon's girlfriends turned towards her with anger in their eyes.
"So is this the girl?" the brunette asked.
"Well, she dresses like a tramp," said the black haired girl.
"She think she's cute," said the blonde.
"Don't tell me Leon is going to marry her," said the redhead.
Ruby didn't hang about, she ran away screaming. "Why did you had to drag me into this mess Adelaide!" she yelled.
Later that night, after getting away from Leon's girlfriends, Ruby had thought to reflex in Berk's private sonar.
"I really need that," she said exiting the sonar.
Then she heard footsteps and saw Leon standing there.
"Leon?" she gasped.
"Try this," he said pulling out bottle of juice. "It really hits the spot after relaxing in a sonar."
"Thanks," said Ruby taking the bottle.
"Thought I might have on with you… if you don't mind," he said pulling out another bottle.
"Just so you know I had a rough day today thanks to you and you're stupid fan club," said Ruby.
"Let's put that behind us," said Leon as they sat down on a bench. "Here's to your beautiful eyes." They then banged the two bottles against one another. "Cheers."
Ruby then drank the juice and at once felt twice as relaxed as before. "That really hit the spot," she said smiling.
"No kidding," said Leon.
Ruby looked at in both confusion and curiosity, she then looked up into the sky. "The sky sure is pretty, huh," she said.
"Yeah," Leon agreed.
Then they saw a shooting star.
"A shooting star," Ruby gasped. "It sounds silly, but I always wondered where those falling stars ended up."
"I kind of feel sorry for them," said Leon and Ruby stared at him. "Just think… once they fall from the sky they can never return to Valhalla. Doesn't that seem sad?"
Ruby just stared at him and then said, "That's just one of your sappy pickup lines isn't it and I can't believe you almost fooled me twice."
Leon chuckled. "You saw right through me," he said.
"Come on, can't you go like five minutes without trying to pick up a girl?" Ruby asked and took another sip of juice.
"I know I can be a real pain, but I'm glad we got to talk again," he said in a sad tone. Ruby stopped and stared at him. "Goodbye."
He then walked away and leaving Ruby with many questions in our mind.
Later that night, at her house, Toothless had stopped by, he too was concerned about Leon's recent behaviour.
Ruby had pulled out the silvers Gate Key with the silver cross.
"Open Gate of the Southern Cross! Crux!" Ruby yelled.
There was a duster of earth scattered around and then suddenly an old man appeared hovering in mid-air. He looked like a temple elder and he carried his staff with a silver cross on it and his eyes were closed.
"Whoa, so this old man's spirit, huh," said Toothless.
"That's right, I like the going Grampa Crux," said Ruby. She then looked back at Crux. "I need you to look up something for me, please. Could you use your power to find which Celestial Viking met in the past?"
Crux just floated, not saying anything and not moving an inch. Then he began to snore.
"Somehow I don't think he heard you, Ruby," said Toothless annoyed.
"Na, he heard me. He's just doing a search," said Ruby.
"Then how come he snoring?" Toothless asked.
"Grampa Crux is an expert on Celestial Magics, he can tell you anything you want to know about different Gate that connect to the spirit world to our world. He can even tell you about particular spirits and which Vikings had summoned them in the past."
At that moment Crux awoke.
"So, did you find any info?" Ruby asked.
"Indeed, but regrettably I cannot provide any extensive details as personal privacy laws do apply to the Celestial World," said Crux. "However, I can tell you that Leon was once connected to a celestial Viking named Runa Lison."
Ruby gasped at the name. "Runa Lison?"
"Someone you know?" Toothless asked.
"She was super famous a few years back," Ruby explained. "I actually had issue from when she was profiled in Magical Weekly, but she died on a job. They say her master told not to take it."
"So she was a Guild Viking just like us, huh," said Toothless.
Ruby nodded. "She was a member Blue Pegasus, if I remember correctly." She then looked at Crux. "Grampa Crux, what was the relationship between Runa and Leon?"
"Sorry, but I'm afraid I've said all I can on the matter," said Crux.
"Ah, come on!" said Ruby.
"Well, there is one of the thing that I can say," said Crux thoughtfully. "It seems your power Hiccup knows about the relationship."
"Strange he's never mentioned it," said Runa. She then looked at Toothless. "You will know anything about it would you?"
"I'm only a year old, this happened two years ago," Toothless reminded. "Though it does explain Hiccup's troubled expression. It looked as though he was saying goodbye to an old friend."
"The really Leon said goodbye sound as if we will never meet again," Ruby remembered.
"Well, that's all I can divulge, until next time Miss Ruby," said Crux and vanished.
Ruby was in deep thought. She remembered those strange way that Leon was acting on the things he said. Saying that he was going to die, talking about shooting stars that were unable to return to Valhalla.
"Shooting Star? He can't be," she gasped.
"Uh, is something wrong?" Toothless asked.
Before Ruby could say anything Ragnar burst through the door. "I've got bad news, Ruby!" he yelled.
Ruby screamed in shock and then remember that she forgot to lock the front door.
"It's Leon, he quit Dragon Tail and then ran away!" he yelled.
"Did he say why?" Ruby asked.
"No. We don't have a clue," said Ragnar. "Everybody is out there looking for him now. He's been acting weird lately, but nobody expected this. Though Hiccup didn't seem too surprised."
"Maybe I'm right," said Ruby and rushed out of the door.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Ragnar asked, but Ruby kept on running. "Ruby! Do you know something we don't?"
On the outskirts of town, near raging waterfall, Hiccup and Leon were approaching a grave marker that had the name Runa Lison engraved on it. The two of them just watched it in silence.
"There you are," said a voice behind them. They turned and saw Ruby approaching them.
"Ruby?" said Leon.
"The whole Guild is looking for you, but it seemed as if Hiccup found you," said Ruby. She then looked at the grave marker. "That's Runa's grave marker isn't it."
"So, you know about her," said Hiccup not sounding surprised.
"She was a great Celestial Viking, she had a contract with you right," said Ruby looking at Leon. The two boys just remain quiet. "The spirit Leon, but that's not really your name. Your name is Leo, Leo the Lion."
Leon just smiled. "Well, I won't deny it, but how did you find out?" he said.
"Don't forget I'm a Celestial Viking too, and I have contacts with a lot of spirits," said Ruby. "It wasn't too hard to dig up the truth. Still, you two should have come to talk to me about this. Normally when an owner of a Gate Key dies the contact between spirit and Viking is terminated. The spirit is then forced back into their world until their key falls into knew hands and a contact it made. You're contact with Runa should have ended on the day she died, I don't understand way you're still here. I've never heard of that before, I mean that's just not the way it's supposed to work, right." Hiccup and Leon looked at each other uneasily. "I know you're kind can't survive in the mortal world for long, just like mortals can't survive in your world, it'll slowly sap away your life until finally there's nothing left."
"That right," said Leon. "And it's been two years now."
"Two years?" Ruby gasped. "I don't even think one was possible."
"Pretty amazing, huh," said Leon. "But I don't have the strength to keep it up."
"Hold on! There's gotta be some way I save you," said Ruby. "Why can't I just open a gate for you?"
"Because the course of Runa's death is much more complicated than you understand," said Hiccup.
"He's right," said Leon. "There is no way I can go back. You see I broke a fundamental law that applies to both Viking and spirit and as a result I was banished from the Celestial World for eternality."
"Leon? Just what did you do? " Ruby asked worriedly.
"I can't deny my crime. So, I have no chose but to face the punishment," said Leon. Hiccup just stood there in silence. "I am a traitor to my own kind. I was contacted to Runa, but she died… because I killed her."
Ruby stared at him in horror.
