Hi! *dodges fruit flying* Yea I know! I'm sorry! WAY WAY over due and mean to leave such a cliff hanger, on the bright note the timing fits. *crickets* Ok, I'm very very sorry. I turned 18, got scholarships, ACT again, school, work, life, yada yada. I'm trying and I'm constantly trying to write. It's kinda hard when internet keeps glitching too. Writers block didn't help either. Ok, so without further ado here is the new ch.
Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh. Only Amber and other oc's. I also don't own Skillet's 'Fire and Fury'.
The sun was high, its rays radiated the heat of the day. Bakura sighed as he refilled his canteen in an oasis he located; seeming to have a talent for as such. He placed his hands in the water and splashed his face feeling the coolness of the water and the relief from his face. The horse drank from the side of the small pond and it was peacefully quiet….
He flinched feeling his back tingle and ducked into the pond as a knife narrowly misses his head. He rises gasping for air, to hear laughter ringing. He tried to suppress a smile knowing who it was and loved hearing her laugh... but irritated as hell she was trying to kill him!
"For Lord Ra's sake Amber, one of these days-!" He fumed.
Amber came out from a decently tall tree, her face was red from laughing. "You told me to practice and I couldn't help it. It was just so perfect and you got a bath!" She continued to laugh walking towards him.
Bakura smirked, "Perfect huh? Then how about you join me." He mocked as he grabbed her hem of her dress and yanked her in with a yelp.
When she resurfaced her hair was dark and droopy and she had an irritated look on her face. Bakura laughed at the sight, "I think that's a 'perfect' look."
"You-!" She splashed him and a battle was unleashed.
The horse neighed and stomped his hooves, enjoying the water as they were.
After about 10 min, Amber finally got out and rang her clothes out, laughing still as Bakura followed her lead.
"You've gotten better, I'll give you that." Bakura huffed as he shook his head of excess water.
"You're stealth has improved as well as your aim, just stop using them to try to kill me!"
Amber snickered as she rang out her hair, "Alright, alright. I still can't believe how much you can do with the skills you have. I've learned a lot thanks to you." She turned to him with a serious face and smiled. "Thank you."
Bakura felt his face soften and ruffled her wet hair, smiling. Though Amber didn't seem to like him messing up her hair again as she made a face, he smirked knowingly. "Don't go soft on me now, I might test your skills at night. Then you won't be thanking me." He joked.
She pushed his hand off and fixed her hair, "Even still, you have done so much without hardly knowing me. Even if we both have the blood of Thieves. So I say again, thank you."
Bakura had to bite his tongue, he so badly wanted to tell her, but didn't know how. Amber you are my sister and it's my fault that you lived without your family. Oh, and our entire clan was murdered! How the hell am I gonna tell her the truth? I wanted to wait till we get to kul eldna... But-
His thoughts were interrupted when he saw Amber cry out.
"Bakura! It's the Nile! I can see it from here if we take that north, we're home!" She exclaimed with a huge smile.
Your home... Not ours, he thought sadly. He knew the Nile was nothing more than a days ride there however they were low on supplies from the last 6 moons.
"There is a town not to far away from our course. We'll head there tomorrow, get supplies, and we'll take the Nile up to Memphis." He thought aloud. When we reach the Nile... I'll tell her then. Home for her and I are equal in distance from there. If she wants to continue to Memphis... I won't stop her. What ever choice she makes, I'll follow her till we see mother and father again, I'll never lose her again.
All Seto heard in the palace was the clapping of his steps as he walked to see the Prince. The Pharaoh had fallen ill and hadn't shown any sign of recovery. Whether it was something he caught during the battle or heartbreak from the Queen and his comrades; no one was sure how. The Prince had to take over a majority of the Pharaohs duties, till the king was well again. While trying to continue the search for Amber….
Seto's eyes narrowed, It's been 6 moons…everyone has already given up or lost hope, but not you; nor will I.
Seto entered the Princes chambers and bowed on one knee. "Nothing to report my Prince… once again."
He looked up and saw the Prince was sifting through piles of scrolls and was focused on his current task at hand.
"He's been like that all day." Seto turned around to see Mana by the door. "Karim and Master Mahad brought him more paper work and then he asked me to bring him spell books from my room. He's been reading and studying ever since."
Seto mused to himself about how she wasn't as annoying as she used to be then sighed. "He's stretching himself. Trying to do the King's Duties and look for her… despite that everyone else has given up."
Mana looked at the ground, "I want to believe she'll come home too. I miss how things used to be."
"And she will Mana." They popped up hearing Atem speak. He turned to face them, his voice had deepened and his hair had grown more so in the last moons. Around his neck, Amber's medallion swung and shined. "I know she is alive… I can feel it. Until that feeling is gone, I won't stop searching." he groaned seeing all the papers behind him. "Or if lord Osiris claims me while reading and signing those blasted things."
"Prince, take a break." Mana pleaded. "Even the Pharaoh had to take a break once in a while and… I don't think Amber would want to see you doing this to yourself." she muttered sadly at the end.
Seto huffed, "More in fact, she'd scold him and drag him outside by the cape."
Atem smiled in remembrance, "You're both right. Let me just get this stack done and I'll rest. "
Mana looked at him smiling sadly, " Thank you, prince."
Seto seemed to be in deep thought and Atem noticed. "Is there something you wish to say, Seto?"
Seto sighed in defeat, "Its not that I don't share your eagerness and hope to find her... I just don't know how you can be so sure."
Atem looked at the floor, silently as Seto continued. "Despite the connection you both have, we don't know what has changed and what has not.. before the attack. So you 'feeling' that she is out there is not a lot to go on... So how? For you seem to know what I state is sadly true, yet you seem so confident."
Atem smiled sadly and gripped the medallion. He looked at the smooth crease of the clouds and stars with the eye of Uadjit in the center. It gleamed as it seem to speak words of ease to him.
"I've seen her... In dreams, that are so real. Dreams of her fighting...training... It's almost as if... I can see her in a dark void and feel what she does. But she cannot hear or see me trying to reach her. Only her well being is shown to me..."
Seto remained silent as did Mana, not really knowing what to express or say.
"This medallion must be helping me see her since it is rightfully hers. She's trying to get home we just got to find out from where..." He said as he let the medallion fall against his chest. " and bring her home."
Night had fallen as Bakura and Amber arrived into the small town. Wearing her cloak and veil, she watched all around her feeling an uneasy feeling. Bakura noticed, "What is it?" He whispered.
Amber frowned, "it's too quite... Something feels off, I just got a bad feeling."
Bakura smirked, "it's not another cobra in my food sack is it?" He joked.
Amber glared at him forgetting her nervousness. " I told you I had a dream and not to open it, stuff like that happens to me a lot! You were lucky that I had speared it before it poisoned you!" She hissed.
Bakura chuckled, "Still think you put it in there..."
She was trying so hard not to whack him, till she realized he did that on purpose and smiled.
Bakura looked at her and smiled, "You catch on quick." He stopped and halted the horse. "Here, we'll stop at this inn and get our supplies in the morning." He hid the horse beside the inn as Amber grabbed some of their bags.
They walked into the dimly candle lite building, an old man was asleep on the counter, snoring loudly. Bakura smirked, "I guess we get a free room."
Amber hit him lightly, "No Bakura, that's not right. The Gods have been good to us this far, let's not angry them and waste our good fortune." she walked over to the man and Bakura huffed and crossed his arms. As if the Gods have ever been to good to us, Amber.
She poked the man, "Sir…wake up."
The man sat up abruptly and shook his head, "Ugh, what?" he saw Amber and rubbed his eyes. "I'm sorry young maiden, I dozed off there I see. What can I do for you?"
Amber winked back at Bakura as he rolls his eyes. "Is there a room where me and my brother can stay at tonight?" she asked. "We've been traveling for so long and are very weary."
Bakura stiffened at her words, knowing she only said her words to lower suspicion on themselves… as he taught her.
"Err, um, yes… follow me." The tired old man lead them up some steps and to a room with two beds. "Here you youngsters go, pay me in morning… " He called back half yawning as he left them to settle.
As Amber got settled in the covers, Bakura looked at her sadly and unsure as he placed their bags in the corner. "Amber…." he bite his tongue, trying to figure out what he wanted to say.
She rolled over and looked at him, "What's wrong…?" Seeing the uncertainty on his face.
He smiled as her and shook his head, "There's something I want to talk to you about… but it can wait till tomorrow."
She looked at him confused, "What is it? Why can't you tell me know?"
He chuckled, "I need to figure out how to say it… but it is important that you get your sleep and don't worry… I'll explain in the morning."
Amber studied his face and nodded in understanding. Bakura got into his bed and settled in. "Sleep well." He said.
"You too." she called back as she fell into sleep.
She was dreaming again… it was what she looked forward to the most. She was in the palace again, she walked down the corridor and saw Atem's room she walked in and saw Mana was with Seto and both were talking to Atem. He has changed so much since I saw him last… she thought. She then saw what was in his hand felt her heart leap. My medallion! He has it! She felt like should cry happy tears seeing her precious keepsake with her family.
Then she heard Atem talk, "-She's trying to get home we just got to find out from where..." He said as he let the medallion fall against his chest. " and bring her home." I will find you, I can't and won't give up! We all won't! She heard his thoughts.
Mana gave a firm nod, " Don't worry my Prince, we'll find her somehow. Isis has tried to see if her necklace can give any inkling to where she can be, but no vision has come yet."
Amber saw Seto and Atem stiffen at her words, and Mana caught herself. "Not that it means she won't be found cause isis hasn't seen her in the future- I mean, she's having conflicts with it, not that it means-"
Seto placed a hand on her shoulder, "I think we should let the prince rest… its been a long day."
Mana looked at Seto then Atem and nodded. "R-right, of course." Amber looked at Seto in shock, He's changed….
Atem smiled at them, "Thank you, both of you. I appreciate the concern and your determination."
Seto bowed, " Rest well prince."
With that, Seto and Mana left the room. Atem sighed and turned to his documents then looked at the medallion. "Amber… can you see me… do you know?"
Yes...Atem.. I do. Amber whispered.
Suddenly Amber was pulled out from her sleep and saw the room she shared with Bakura. She rubbed her eyes, sighing. She noticed the window and walked up to it, looking out. Amber looked at the stars, then at the sleeping Bakura.
I wonder what it is so important that he wants to tell me, he seemed more serious than usual. Though after everything he is almost like family to me. she thought. Then she stared back at the stars, "6 moons Atem, Seto. It's taking me that long, but I'm coming home. Soon I won't just be dreaming of you..."
Every brick and every stone
Of the world we made will come undone.
If I... if I can't feel you here with me.
Atem tried to sleep, but his mind couldn't stop thinking about her. He groaned and walked out onto his balcony. He breathed in the fresh cool air. "Amber…."
In my sleep I call your name
But when I wake I need to touch your face
'Cause I... I need to feel you here with me.
He grips the medallion and looks at the stars. "Where are you...?Are you looking at them as well… from where you are?"
You can stop the aching
'Cause you're the one I need.
Amber feels the wind blow through her hair and closes her eyes. Remembering the same wind she felt when she trained with...him. "Seto…."
I will burn, I will burn for you
With fire and fury. Fire and fury.
My heart hurts, my heart hurts for you.
Your love burns within me with fire and fury.
Seto walked out into the courtyard unable to sleep. His mind and heart aches since that day when she disappeared. Not knowing how he should feel or if it's even knew he had to push them aside for both their sake's... But was that the way it had to end? Her in pain and tears; him biting his tounge for every word. He looked around the courtyard. He could imagine the training sessions and constant quarrels he had with Amber. Even that kiss...
If I freeze you are the flame.
You melt my heart, I'm washed in your rain.
I know you'll always have the best of me.
Seto growled and punched a pillar. For Ra's sake, please what he say be true. Be alive, Amber!
Destiny's got a hold on me.
Guess I never knew love like love knows me
'Cause I... I need to feel you here with me.
I can't live not knowing if you died with those words we last spoke...I don't know how you did this to me… where I need you… not just for the kingdom… but for me.
I will burn, I will burn for you
With fire and fury. Fire and fury.
My heart hurts, my heart hurts for you.
Your love burns within me with fire and fury.
Amber opened her eyes and stared at the stars, almost feeling their energy. She remembered seeing these stars on a night like this... In a garden 5 harvests ago. "Atem…"
Let it all fall down to dust.
Can't break the two of us.
We are safe in the strength of love.
You can stop the aching
'Cause you're the one I need.
She looked back at Bakura then turned to the stars. Kneeling, she placed her hands together and prayed. Gods, hear my cry, guide us safely on the journey home. Please let Bakura and I reach a brighter life together. As well as Atem and Seto, please help them to be happy. Amen.
I will burn, I will burn for you
With fire and fury. Fire and fury.
My heart hurts, my heart hurts for you.
Your love burns within me.
It burns, it burns, it burns, it burns.
Seto slid down the pillar and glared at the stars. As though they mocked him in the night.
Atem held the medallion to his heart; hoping and praying it would bring her home somehow. Amber stood up and went got back into bed, whispering "Good night." To whoever would hear her words, half hoping they'd reach those in her heart.
Your love burns within me with fire and fury.
Amber felt like she was running, another dream? That doesn't happen often… she thought. she opened her eyes not realized they were closed. Pain shot through arm, she looked and saw blood drip from a deep cut. She noticed she was still running and outside of the town they are in. Oh no… please don't tell me its one of those dreams!? she panicked and saw a band of horsemen were chasing her, had black clothing and covered their faces.
"Amber! Keep going!" She looked forward and saw Bakura was running a little ahead of them. "Let's head for the river and see if we can lose th- AGH!" An dagger hit his chest and he rolled down the into a dune. "Bakura!" She took after him as they disappeared into the sand.
"Amber! Amber wake up!" She shot up holding her chest panting as a startled Bakura felt her forehead. "What's wrong? You were thrashing and muttering in your sleep." He didn't feel a fever, but the last time this happened she had a horrible nightmare.
Amber calmed down and looked around her, seeing she was in their room still. "I-I'm alright now." she breathed.
He eyed her knowning she wasn't telling him something. She noticed and smiled at him worrying, "It was a nightmare... Though honestly it reminded of the cobra dream." She tried to hint. He rolled his eyes, "So you're gonna start this huh?" Amber looked down at the ground, not knowing what to say. Even after that he doesn't believe my dreams. Well at least he's not calling me a freak and does believe them. I don't even know if it was 'that kind' of dream. Ra I hope not.
Bakura sighed and stood up, pulling something from his cloak. "Sorry, if it's something you don't wish to share then I won't intrude."
Amber's head shot up, "It's not that! I just have a bad feeling something's gonna happ-." She then saw what was in his hand. It was a golden flower hair piece the center of the flower had a bright blue sapphire.
Bakura looked at it and smiled sadly at the object. "My mothers name was Amiri. You once asked me about her and I know you never had a mother." He knelt to her eye level and placed the hair piece in her hair. " It reminds me of her, so I want you to have it. She was a beautiful flower, just like her name and... You are a precious gem. You're so much like her. " Amber stares at Bakura speechless.
He takes a deep breath, "Amber… you-"
The old man came running into the room interrupting Bakura. "Both of you must leave! Quick! The bounty hunters are looking for you!"
Amber and Bakura stared at him in confusion, "What are you talking about? Why-"
" They're looking for a man of white hair and a girl of gold. You kids have done me no wrong and I can't watch you be taken by those monsters. They're almost here, so hurry and leave!" He pleaded as he left the room.
Bakura muttered some curses under his breath as Amber stuck her head out the window and saw about 7 horses men in black coming down the the street. Each one running into a home or store searching for something.
MY DREAM! Amber rushed away from the window and grabbed her bag. She took out her daggers, her veil, and shaw; quickly getting ready.
Bakura looked out as well and cursed again. " We have leave… now!" He heard of them and knew how ferocious these men were, they took their prey with ease and preferred them dead. He grabbed Amber's hand as they rush down. Amber had to swallow a scream as she saw them right outside the door messing with their horse.
"This way." They saw the old man hiding behind his desk and pointed to a window. "Though the back!" Bakura didn't waste any time he pulled Amber and lifted himself into the window. As his reached out, Amber grabbed it and was pulled up and out the window. They went down the alley, blending in with the shadows as much as possible. They heard a scream and ran.
Bakura felt a dark feeling go down his spine and grinded his teeth. "Amber, if it gets worse any more, promise me you'll run and won't fight for my sake. Run and live on."
Amber looked at him in shock and denial, "Bakura I-"
"Promise me!" He urged as he held her hand tight.
"I-I promise… but Bakura let me call my Ka out, I-"
"Not yet! That will use your energy and give us away. Wait till we are- shit!" Bakura stopped and hid Amber behind him as two if the riders blocked their path.
"Bakura the Night demon or should we call you the king of thieves ?" One snarled.
The other stepped forward, "You are under arrest for the countless crimes you committed against Egypt and murder of The Lord in Mustuba."
"Oh so killing him isn't considered part of a crime, good to know!" Amber muttered.
The men looked behind Bakura and smirked, "Your accomplice is to come to us, for inspection." They chuckled making both of them scowl.
"Over my dead body..." Bakura growled.
The riders pulled out swords and approached them. "With pleasure."
"Bakura! Duck!" At her words, he did as Amber threw knives at the men hitting their throats. Bakura looked at her impressed as they fell silent to the ground.
"Over here!" They heard more coming and ran out of the alley.
"Forget what I said. Get that thing out here!" Bakura called back to her.
Amber crossed her arms and her eyes flashed open gold as a purple aura enveloped her. "Appear Manticore of Darkness!" The ka roared life as he appeared before them and knelled. Get on! Amber heard.
"Hop on Bakura!" As he hesitated for a moment before doing so.
The riders turned the corner and saw them," Don't let them get away!"
"Go Manti!" The ka kicked its wings up and flew. Damn both of you are heavy. He complained.
They looked behind them as the riders chased them through the town. Amber was glad they were in the air and getting ahead. She sighed and looked at Bakura. "I think we're ok now."
Just as Manti started flying in crazy directions, arrows barely missing them. They looked back and saw some were shooting arrows while riding. Show offs, Amber grumbled. Manti fly higher if you can.
Manti growled as he tried to go higher and avoid the arrows, Hard to do while trying not to get-! A roar escaped his jaw as well as a scream from Amber. A group of arrows hit the Ka's wing going through and sticking out of his front limbs. They began to lose height.
"Amber!" Bakura grabbed Amber before she fell off the ka, her arms showed deep cuts and blood seeped out. Her eyes dulled from the pain she felt as well as her ka. Another one hit the ka's other wing and they both cried out. Forgive me, child… Manti moaned as he disappeared before them.
"SHIT! Bakura held onto Amber and they fell into the sand below them. He groaned from the impact and saw Amber trying to stand.
"Manti please come back out…" She muttered.
"No, you don't have the energy to summon him. We need to move." He started heading for more sand dunes when Amber grabbed his arm.
"Not there, head for the Nile. There is more cover there." she said fearing her dream. He nodded in agreement as they ran toward the River.
"There they are!" They heard the riders as they approached. An arrow sliced Bakura's arm as he hissed and cursed, "Wish I had some weapons at a time like this. Out of all the times for this to happen, why now!?" He saw Amber was slowing down, probably from the blood loss. He saw a ledge with tall reeds and pulled her into the thicket of them. He knew it would only save them mere moments and huffed in defeat, "We can't stay here."
Amber looked at him and held his hand to comfort him, "Don't give up! Please! We've been through so much we can't let this stop us! We can live a new life and start over; please don't give up!" She said as she hugged him, despite the pain in her arm and his.
He tried to control the emotions going through him, I want you to have that… I know it can never happen for me. "Amber you must run. I'll hold them off."
She looked at him wide eyed and shook her head. "No...no, no. I won't leave you!"
"Live a long life and be happy for the both of us, please promise me." he said as he took the pin he gave her that morning out her hair and put it in her hand. She kept shaking her head and shaking.
"Amber, please go. I can't bear the thought of them hurting you." Bakura had a sorrow filled look in his eyes that Amber tried so hard to argue against.
"I can't leave you! You're like a brother to me..." She felt the tears roll down her face.
Bakura was about say what his heart has been crying since he found her, till he was stunned by an arrow in the shoulder.
"BAKURA!" Amber cried as she pulled back to see the riders closing in.
"Ugh...go...now." As she stared at him in fear, he clenched his fists and pushed her away. "GO!"
She stumbled backwards and fell off the ledge. Please understand and live on for the both of us. He thought as he collapsed in the sand.
Grunting as she clutched herself to not get injured bad till she hit the soft dirt below.
"Where'd the wrench go!?" she heard above her head as she scrambled to her feet.
"Who cares? We got the thief, let's get our bounty." She gritted her teeth, trying to keep her promise that she made to Bakura. Holding back tears, she took off running.
"Look! There she goes!" She heard above her. The reeds whipped her face as she continued on hoping to find cover in the reeds or palms. She looked behind her to see three of the riders catching up to her. The horses got faster and faster as their riders hit their sides more and more. She knew she couldn't defend herself without her weapons and tried to call out to Manti. However arrows and knives stopped her concentration, I can't call on him while I'm trying to stay alive, let alone low ba!
"There's no way out wrench! Give up and we'll be gentle with you!" She heard them taunt as the distance between them was only horse length.
What do I do?! The palms and the reeds were making to hard for them to dodge and easier to get further away... But as they continued on they grew fewer. They'll catch me at this rate! She then saw a fallen palm hanging over the Nile. Lord Hapi, hear my prayer and protect me. She thought, taking a quick turn toward the palm just before a rider barely grabbed her.
"Hey, what's she doing?!" One cried. "She's going to the Nile! Hah!" Another cried as he snapped the reins.
Amber used the balancing skills she learned, she crawled onto the palm and approached its edge.
"She's insane!" She looked back to see them get off their horses and approach the palm. She muttered a prayer and clutched the gold flower Bakura gave her... And jumped.
The cold water washed over her and the current pulled her deeper. She tried to reach the surface but kept spinning and couldn't find out where it was. Gods! Help me! She cried as her head hit something hard and darkness consumed her.
Ok, don't hate me for the cliff hanger I wanted to get a ch up and I hope to get a new ch up soon. Please review! Also Bakura and Amber's mom's name means Flower in Egyptian.
