Super Sentai vs Super Sentai

Author's Note: Things... happen a lot IRL so I ended up getting several delays. So, remember the last episode of Jetman? I thought there's one plot point that's still kind of hanging, so I thought I'd resolve it over here. It's a bit shorter than usual, but I hope you enjoy it!

ACT 29: Braving the Past

In the wake of the revelation that overusage on Super Sentai Ball could be disastrous to some of her friends, Sayaka gave an extra effort to research further about this, she knew she's the only one to be able to do so. She holed herself inside her room for a long time, only coming out when it comes to meals or having to attend to other menial needs like toilet.

Of course, some people took it the wrong way.

As Sayaka was returning to her room after a small tea time, she was instead stopped right at the door by someone who was leaning his hand next to the door. "Please move, Gai."

"Oh, I can't do that. Did you have amnesia or something?" Gai spoke, both half-joking and half-serious, "Did you forget about that thing of overworking? I've seen you holing yourself all the time in your room. What are you researching again, that Anti-Flash phe-something?"

"That, and what Jun warned us." Sayaka answered clearly, "I can't risk the safety of Miki and Mako just like that. You understand this, right?"

"I understand that, yeah. But, really Sayaka, you gotta take care of yourself." Gai reminded her about that time she overworked and it took toll on her health. He put his hands away from the door and got himself closer to Sayaka, to show his worry, "What if in the middle of this research, there's an attack? Do you want to repeat-"

And Gai did not even finish the sentence as Sayaka managed to slip away from him and opened the door. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. I'm not overworking, and I'll be ready if there's an attack." And with that she closed the door, leaving Gai alone. He certainly knew that Sayaka was speaking the truth, and the lives of his friend were important. But for some reason, there's this frustration building up within him that he couldn't stave off.

"Tch… Damn it…"

In the meantime, down there on Earth, the entrance door of a book store opened and Mako went out of it with a bag of books at hand. Cooking books, to be exact. "Let's see, my next stop should be the groceries…"

On the other hand, her face was filled with a mixture of joy and worry in the same time. On one hand, she's glad that she's one more step closer to overcoming her bad cooking sense, but on the other hand, the events that just transpired on her weighed heavily on her… that she was cursed because of the very item used to defeat monsters. 'So… does this mean we have to depend more on the basics? If it comes to that, I won't hesitate. But with the enemies getting stronger like this…'

Mako sighed. Perhaps that was why Sayaka became more workaholic and politely refused her offer to go shopping for supplies together.

But on the way to the grocery, she passed through a café, and saw a certain familiar someone, sitting together with a girl. "Gai?"

Mako quickly went to a nearby alley to not attract attention and looked at how Gai spoke so casually to a flirtatious level. 'They weren't joking when they said Gai is a flirt. But I'm starting to wonder… is it about being worried of his… short life?' Even from far away, Mako could read that Gai was getting uneasy deep down. This whole flirting might just be a mask to cover it. Others might be fooled, but not Mako…

But Mako did not have the luxury to observe further. All of the sudden, she felt a grip of a hand clamping her mouth and pulled her backwards. "Don't scream." A coarse voice was heard, "Just drop whatever you're having here on the ground and we'll let you off. Money, purse, everything…" To put this further, she felt that a sharp object was pointed to her back.

It became very apparent that it was a robbery attempt. But, Mako wasn't the type to just let it happen to her either. She calmed down a bit, her samurai training has allowed her to detect how many people were behind her. 'Just two… I can handle this just fine. Even without Shinkenmaru.' Mako then slowly moved her body like she was about to kneel. She also moved her hand backwards like to reach out something…

But in instant, she pushed that hand hard enough to the man's hand that held the pointy object, dropping it to the ground. With her other hand, she struck that man's stomach with her elbow, before throwing him to the ground by grabbing his hand that clamped her mouth, and tossing him above her shoulder. "W… whoa…?! I guess we got the wrong target…" When Mako looked behind, she saw that man's friend, a masked robber, just like him, muttering. For some reason, he didn't look as forceful as his friend.

"Robbing someone like that is not what a man should do." Mako said as she took a normal battle stance, "I'll set you straight!"

As Mako ran towards the other man that attempted to run away, his friend that was tossed away slowly started to get up. "You damn woman… You're asking to die, aren't you…!?"

He attempted to grab his knife on the ground, but then someone stomped his hand. "AUGH!"

"Uh-uh, what do you plan to do with that woman?" That stomper turned out to be Gai, who quickly delivered a chop to his neck, knocking the robber out, "Just stay here awhile, I'll get the authority deal with you later." As Gai got up, he found out that Mako has subdued the robber that tried to run, also going as far as removing his mask. "Hey, Mako! Doin' OK?"

"As you can see." Mako replied normally, "They made a mistake about trying to rob me like this."

"Yeah, sure, let's just get this over it and…" As Gai tried to finish things up, the robber showed his face, and with that, Gai's face widened greatly, like he's having a déjà vu, "What the…!? You…!?"

"M-My God…! I-it's you…!" The robber crawled backwards, trying to get away from Gai, "You've come to get me from Hell after I… I killed you…?"

"Killed you? Gai…" Mako was just as shocked as that statement came from the robber. There was no way Gai could forget this man. The man that stabbed him to death while he stopped him from robbing, and now he was face to face.

"Oh yeah, I still remember that stab all right. There's no way I'd forget that… I even got a trip to Heaven, not Hell, because of that." Gai spoke as the robber's face started to get more visibly scared, "Still there's something I'd like to ask you…"

"AAAHH! GHOST!" The robber screamed and eventually ran off, "Have mercy on me! Please forgive this foolish Okinaaaa!"

"Uh… I guess that's one way to introduce yourself?" Mako commented, "His name is Okina."

"That'll make it easier to remember him. But I don't have time to waste here!" Gai then immediately gave pursuit to the fleeing Okina, "Wait, damn it!"

"Damn, where the hell did he run into!?" Gai wondered as he reached the road, looking around for Okina, but he hadn't seen her. As if a clue coming in, he saw several people running off past him. This was Gai's cue, 'This kind of people running… must be some sort of monster nearby.'

He quickly ran to the direction where the people ran from. But in there, he saw three particular people… one weird monster that seemed to have its body formed out of a motorcycle's body, hands and knees formed out of motorcycle's tires with spikes protruding on it. The head, however, is in form of a hellish horse. And the other two… 'It's that Okina… and Ahames…!?' Gai recognized the two, 'What the… are they conspiring to each other?'

"What was that, Okina?" Ahames said in a threatening voice, pointing her baton onto Okina's chin while raising it up, as in threatening that she could beat him up so severely if she didn't hear anything pleasing, "Planning to quit…?"

"I… I'm sorry…! I… I can't take it anymore…!" Okina shuddered sadly, "He… he's back…!"

"Well, that's the point! This is preposterous, I thought your gang was known as one of the fiercest in this Earth." Ahames scolded further, "What would your boss say about this?" At this point, suddenly the monster roared and started spinning his wheels, "You don't care what will happen to your family? I thought they were already disappointed with you being convicted a murderer. Shall I put an end to their misery too?"

"M… mom…" Okina shuddered further, at this point he stopped looking like a deadly gangster, but more like a scared little pup, "I… I'm going to…"

"HAAH!" And their confrontation was interrupted when suddenly Gai leapt at the monster and kicked it, pushing it away, but enough to shock Ahames.

"Tormon Horse!" Ahames' sudden shock was used by Gai to deliver a chop on Ahames' hand, enough for Okina to get off. "Yuki Gai, you…!"

"You! Scram!" Gai then yelled at Okina, at this point he knew this wasn't the time for the talk he wanted, "I'll catch up later!" But contrary to what Gai expected, Okina instead screamed for his life and ran off.

"This impudence…!" Ahames was quick to grab her baton and slapped Gai away with it. The monster, Tormon Horse, instead leapt and pinned Gai onto the ground while trying to hit him with its tire hands. "I'll not leave deserters alive like this. Hidrer soldiers, Grinam soldiers, bring that fool to me!"

In instant, Hidrer soldiers and Grinam soldiers leapt to the direction of Okina, even scaring him further. But thankfully, several of them were taken down with one swipe of sword, courtesy of Mako. "Don't look back. Run." She gave an advice.

"Hi… hiii…!" Okina obeyed, but his fear was still showing as he shrieked while he ran. Mako paid no attention to that and continued to slash further soldiers away.

"Gah… damn it…!" Gai was still struggling against the monster that pinned him down, until suddenly, there were several lasers being shot down to the Tormon Horse, knocking it away. When Gai looked at the direction where the lasers came from, he saw Blue Turbo and Change Mermaid being the ones shooting the laser. "Guys? Just you two?"

"Eh, nope." Blue Turbo waved his hand to rebuke the statement, "They've come as well." As he pointed to the direction of Mako, Gai saw that Shinken Red, Goggle Pink, Five Yellow and Green Flash already helping to fight against the foot soldiers, while Mako already transformed to Shinken Pink to help her clean up faster.

"What are you planning this time, Ahames!?" Change Mermaid yelled at her nemesis.

"Tch, Super Sentai… you always get in my way." Ahames grumbled, but eventually, her face became even more cross when she looked at Gai, "What's with that face you're making!? It's making me sick, you're supposed to…"

"Supposed to what? Make you fall for me?" Gai grinned, his confidence never shattering as he talked to Ahames, "Sorry, witch, get as pretty as you want, but I'll just refuse you in instant!"

"You shall not spew such nonsense!" Ahames ran forward in anger as she tried to smack Gai in the face, but in a short time, without even incantations, he transformed into Black Condor, and quickly drew his Bringer Sword to block Ahames' strike, while Tormon Horse once again readied its strikes and attacked Blue Turbo, who continued to push against him, until Change Mermaid also helped to join the fray. "What's with that confident look!? Don't you know who he is…!?"

"The guy who killed me?" Black Condor said, as he's still pushing.

"That's right, Black Condor! Radiguet has told me about it…" Ahames' face started to glee further as she managed to push Black Condor further away with her baton push, "You defeated him and the Vyram… but in the end, the one to end your life was nothing but a mugger!"

"What…!?" As the ones on the other side finished dealing with the soldiers, Shinken Pink was shocked to hear it. "Gai… is he…"

"Long story, Mako." Shinken Red said, "We know already."

"That's a big deal about life and death, Takeru." Shinken Pink still wasn't convinced, "Could it be that it's what Ahames was aiming for…?"

"If it's to break his spirit, I know Gai won't lose." Goggle Pink then assured her, pointing at the two still clashing, "Look at him… he doesn't seem to be losing his wit."

"What a shame, great hero…" Ahames continued further "Ending alien invasions, but cannot even stand a knife stab!"

"Ahames, really? That's all you want to say to me?" Black Condor still hasn't lost his cool. He was just reserving his strength and eventually he kneed Ahames' stomach and delivered a headbutt on her head, knocking her away. "I don't give a damn that I'm dead, as long as I am standing here to kick your ass!"

"Now just move along and beat up the dead…" Black Condor was about to strike further while trash talking, but as he spoke of that, he saw a sight that made his words sounded awkward. He saw Tormon Horse, already pinning down both Blue Turbo and Change Mermaid, and strangely put away the spikes on its tires, and was driving them on the ground with it, like dragging someone with a motorcycle, "… horse…?"

"Mwahahah!" Ahames laughed further, "You may also want to worry about your friend against our Tormon Horse, the mighty combination of a proud Space Beast and a Bio Dimensional monster! Empowered with the raw might of thousands of horses and the generated energy of the great engine!"

But suddenly, Black Condor faced Ahames once again and ignored the two of his friends in peril, approaching Ahames further. "… That does not faze you?" Ahames questioned.

"I don't care! Because I got them covered." As Black Condor exclaimed, on the other side, both Five Yellow and Green Flash positioned themselves, equipping themselves with Five Tector and Prism Kaiser respectively, together in front of the Tormon Horse, before punching the monster in the face, knocking it away and freeing their friends.

"Tch…" Ahames scoffed as she got up, while Tormon Horse did as well, "I've wasted enough time here." With that, the dark queen along with her monster retreated.

"Gai!" As the team approached him, Goggle Pink asked, "Are you all right?"

"You know, you should worry about Youhei and Sayaka instead." Black Condor just pointed at his two wounded friends, in which both Five Yellow and Green Flash was also helping them, "That has got to hurt."

"Gai, is it true that you…" Shinken Pink noted quickly as Goggle Pink went to her other friends, "I'm sorry, I don't know about it…"

"Oh, yeah. All of those resolutions came around just right before she came to us." Black Condor realized, reminding himself of last time he found out about his current state of living while being helped to find the resolution to keep on going, helped by Dyna Black. Then he realized something, "… Takeru, you didn't let her read that book?"

"I thought she'd read it in spare time…" Shinken Red commented, "But that's not a big deal… just like your condition, right?"

"Obviously." Black Condor confidently said so, and it seemed that the day would pass by normally. But little did they know that someone hasn't truly left the scene.

'I did not spill that dark secret about Tormon Horse. Whatever poker face you form up, Black Condor… I know you still feel great shame enough to…!'

Back in Kizuna, Gai was seen heading to the computer room. "I better take care of this. Okina, huh…" He reached out for the door, but then stopped in a bit. He recalled that at this point, Sayaka would still be in the works, especially with her research about the Super Sentai Ball. This would be disturbing her works… However, Gai just shrugged and opened it anyway, 'Whatever, she should be resting thanks to that wound. This is my chance to finish this once and for all!'

With that, Gai entered the room and tinkered with the computer in it…

Moments later, Takeru saw that Sayaka was out of her room. "Feeling okay now?" He asked.

"I'm doing fine." Sayaka answered, smiling, "I should get back to work."

"Work?" Takeru continued the conversation as they walked through the hallway, "Lately you work extra hard. Like you have multiple projects in your mind."

"Typical research activities, really. I'm used to it since I was a member of the Earth Defense Force." Sayaka confidently stated, "Besides, one of them is for the good of us all, though I'm not sure how long until it is finished."

"The Super Sentai Ball…" Takeru muttered in guessing, which surprised Sayaka when he said that, "… Just a wild guess."

"And it's a correct one." Sayaka nodded, "I need to find out more about this, so we can lift the danger preset to Miki and Mako. They are our friends, I can't bear it if something terrible was to happen because of us getting too much hungry on power to defeat our enemies. What good is victory… when there is a big but unnecessary price to pay?"

"If there is no other way, then it can't be helped." Takeru had to be blunt in answering that, before he resumed with another assuring statement, "But if it can be avoided… we have to avoid the price at all cost." Sayaka nodded in agreement on hearing that, prompting Takeru to continue with his question, "And… the other one you're researching?"

"It's another thing to ensure our sweet victory together." Sayaka said, remembering what she used to research just recently, "I haven't told anyone but Gai about it, though… I think it's better if you know as well. It's the Anti-Flash Phenomenon."

"Did you say Anti-Flash Phenomenon?" It wasn't Takeru who said that, but apparently, Dai overheard it and approached Sayaka, "Is that true, Sayaka? You're really going to…"

"D-Dai?" Sayaka said in surprise, "Well, I try to research on how to overcome it. If my research is successful, doesn't that mean you and the rest of the Flashmen can stay in Earth as long as you wanted?"

"Wow… I…" Dai held Sayaka's hands in full gratitude and raised them, "Thanks, Sayaka! If you succeed in this, boy I can't wait to inform Jin, Bun, Sara and Lou about this! Maybe they can search for their family more leisurely and eventually succeeded just like me! Oh, wait, Sara already found her parents… Oh well."

"Huh, really? One of your friends already found her parents? I'm glad." Sayaka noted, "I'll do my best, not just for our sake, but for your friends' sake too…"

"Huh…!?" Their conversation was cut short when Takeru noted something from afar, "Who opened the computer room's door and not closing it?"

"Ugh, I thought everyone agreed that you should close the door when you're already done…" Sayaka sighed in annoyance.

"Wait, I… I think I got a bad feeling about this…" Dai noted, "Didn't Gai just meet the guy he claimed to have killed him?"

"Could it be that… oh no." Takeru knew what could have happened. What if all along Gai was just using a well-placed poker face to cover his anguish about death? If he hadn't met the person responsible, he knew he could keep it, but if the one responsible showed up, anything could go wrong. "We should check the room."

The three hurried to the computer room, and found out that indeed, the computer inside has been used. "Who used this…?" Dai muttered.

"We'll just find out if we check the history." Sayaka quickly seated herself into the computer and started investigating the computer's browser history.

To her surprise, what she found out confirmed to their fears. It showed about a certain man named Okina and the day Yuki Gai was supposed to die. It was there on the news archive, and police records.

"Man arrested for murdering a hero…" Suddenly a male voice was heard from behind the three as they checked, when they looked behind, they saw Youhei, Miki, Remi and Mako, already looking at the monitor from behind, "Did they really make a big deal about identities as such back then?"

"I'm supposing that the Sky Force was an international public force…" Remi noted, "Guess that's why they get the recognition of defeating the Vyram."

"I guess that makes sense. Some of us keep our identity about being heroes that defend the earth, others don't." Miki added.

"You guys… how long have you been here?" Takeru asked.

"Uh, we just arrived. Open door like that kind of looked suspicious as well." Mako noted, in which Sayaka put her face in her own palm.

'I got too carried away in worry that I forgot to close the door…'

"But at any rate… Takeru, this looks… distressing. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Mako said.

"Has any of you seen Gai?" Takeru just got straight to the point and asked.

"Come to think of it…" Remi noted, "When I was about to visit Youhei if he's gotten better, I saw Gai just walk into the teleporter carrying his motorcycle helmet. Maybe he's off for…"

"No way, after seeing this, I don't think womanizing would be something in his mind!" Dai corrected, which shocked everyone.

"Oh… of course it is! I get it now!" Youhei hit his palm with his other fist, like realizing something, "The only one who'd search for this is Gai! This Okina guy, if he's really Gai's murderer, only Gai would bother looking for info about him!"

"What would he be thinking, looking for information for his…" Miki wondered, until her face paled, "Oh, could it be…!"

"That might be it." Takeru concluded, "Regardless of what he said about not to worry about it, Gai probably has something about this Okina, the man who murdered him. He cannot just forget about him. He might have…"

"The news said that Okina used to be a part of a gangster group. Their hideout is… right here." Sayaka said as she opened a page revolving about a gangster group, as also noted in the history page, "Takeru, you think Gai could have…"

"Yeah. We should go there, just to make sure." Takeru noted and the rest nodded to prepare to depart. There was one thing that ran in their mind, and for this moment, their thoughts were united as one. There was one thing they feared.

That Gai deep down wanted to take vengeance against the man who killed him.

'Gai, don't do anything reckless…!'

A man riding a motorcycle ran through a long road, only stopping on an abandoned warehouse. "This has got to be it, according to the map." The man muttered as he put away his helmet, revealing himself as… Gai. He approached the warehouse quickly.

Reaching out to the garden, he saw a figure opening the main door of the warehouse. Hiding in the nearby bushes, Gai saw a familiar figure, Okina, walking away from it. He looked extremely dejected. 'What the hell has happened to this guy? Looks like a dead man walking…' On that line of thought, Gai ended up burying his face to his hand, 'Damn, who am I to talk about dead men walking?'

When Gai looked at that man further, he was shocked. The man was looking away from him, but on his hand, there was a pocket knife. He seemed to be in deep despair, and as he looked at his free hand, he's putting his knife on his wrists. 'Damn it! Suicide! This better stop now!'

"Wait!" Getting back onto his feet, Gai quickly ran towards Okina and tackled him to the ground, making him drop the knife and putting them together to the ground, "What the hell do you think you're doing!? Wasting your life away like this!" Gai scolded him just as he got the man face him.

"Ah…" Okina was speechless as Gai glared at him fiercely, "I… I… Please…" He finally couldn't hold himself anymore, he started screaming just as fiercely as how Gai stared at him, "Please just kill me already! I don't want to live anymore! Come on, what are you waiting for!? Just take your revenge and be done with it!"

"Shut your mouth, you dumbass!" Gai yelled at him fiercer, managing to get him to shut up, "Look, I don't want to harm you or anything. I just want to talk!"

"T… talk…?"

"This might look kind of awkward, but…" Gai calmed down a bit as he continued to speak, "Yeah, I died because of you. You killed me. But I don't hold it against you. Regardless, man you look horrible. What's troubling you anyway?"

"What will telling you that do?" Okina asked weakly, "I…"

"Huh… no reason, I guess? I'm just one curious spirit." As Gai said that, he noticed that the sky was very clear. And as a result, it's getting hot. "Man, this place gets a bit too uncomfortable to talk. Let's go to somewhere with a shade."

As eventually Gai found out that a side of the building provided enough cover from the sun, he sat there, along with Okina, who started retelling his life story.

"I… I used to be a normal boy. But my family was so poor that we were struggling in life. One day, we got entangled with a debt with this gang I'm in, the Hellhorse Gang… The gang said that I had to be sent to their care if my family wanted the debt to be gone. To save my family… I had to join them. And from that point on… I became a thief. There was one point in my life that I never enjoyed doing my thieves. But hanging around with the Hellhorse Gang changed my outlook, I became just as ruthless and insensitive just like them… Until that day…"

"That day?" Gai cut the story, trying to guess what was going on next, "You mean… the day we met?"

"Yeah. That was the day I met you… I'll never forget your name… Yuki Gai. You'll see later." Okina then continued his tale, "When you stopped my robbery attempt at that lady, something caught me in. I thought you would just call in the mob and beat me up, but you just reprimanded me to never steal again. I was so impressed that someone wouldn't just look at me as a remorseless bastard, and for the first time ever since that time, I once again thought what I was doing was wrong. But… but at that time…"

"Yeah, if that is how you felt, it would be very out of your character to suddenly stab me." Gai added, "So, what happened then?"

"I don't really know myself, but it's like I wasn't myself. Like some ghost possessed me." Okina shuddered as he remembered that moment in his life, the one thing that he would regret greatly, "My pride and emotion just exploded like that, screaming that they were hurt and demanded payback. It's like they just overrode my common sense and commanded me to strike back, and I did… with a knife."

Gai was silent hearing this, but even at this point, he recalled something he just learned recently. It was at that time when he faced Radiguet just after he killed Miki's mother. There was one thing the Vyram count said to him.

"That mugger who killed you… he actually didn't want to kill anyone."

"So I possessed the mugger and instilled him the desire for vengeance against you. Thus, he stabbed you to death!"

'It all makes sense then… This Okina ended up becoming Radiguet's pawn for that bastard's revenge against me. Damn you, Radiguet…!' Gai clenched both his fists and teeth in return, surprising Okina. Gai had to make an excuse to ensure everything went smoothly, "Oh, nothing! I'm not mad at you, I'm just… mad at that 'ghost' who you think possessed you. When I get back to Heaven, I'm gonna give him a scolding. So, continue."

"Oh… okay." Okina nodded and continued, "Things were never the same afterwards. I felt a big remorse which led me to screw up a heist with the Hellhorse Gang, and they escaped without me. I was put on trial, and in there… I found out that the last man I killed… you, Gai… was one of the Choujin Sentai Jetman that defended Earth from the Vyram…" His voice was shaking at this point as he's nearly crying again "I just killed one of the defenders of humanity…!"

"What? How come… I don't think Ryuu, Kaori, Raita or even Ako would condemn people like that, even for me…" Gai was shocked at hearing it, "Do you still remember the trial? Was it my fellow Jetmen that pointed out that you killed me?" Okina could only shake his head, though his face didn't get any brighter, "Oh I see. Must be some sort of random witness. Anyway… damn it, get yourself together, man, I don't like hearing a story narrated by a crying man!"

Okina could only weakly wipe his tears and pulled himself together to continue the story, "At that point, I thought that maybe I deserved my punishment, my lifetime sentence in prison. I was prepared, and it was better this way… Until just recently… the Hellhorse Gang busted my prison and got me out. But something changed from within the gang, the leader and the members became even more sadistic and demanded that I follow the new footsteps. And if they don't… then my relatives… my innocent family member out there… would be tracked down… and it'll be my fault that I… I…!"

"Hey." Gai put his hand to Okina's shoulder, stopping him from breaking down again, "Are you done with your story?" Okina just nodded. Gai only smiled and spoke to him further, "Look, at first I thought you're a guy who didn't heed my advices and just went back to repeat the errors of your life. Hearing your story… man, I gotta admit, you got your life rough. But listen, dying by suicide is the coward's way out. A man that killed someone like me has better not be a coward."

"But… but what I've done… No one would forgive…"

"Well there's one person who would forgive you, at least." Gai then smiled as he pointed to himself, "Me."

"You… you forgive me…?"

"Granted, I was pissed back then. But now, not anymore." Gai then looked at the sky, "Pretty sure if my fellow Jetman heard about you, they will forgive you too. As long as you live, Okina, you always have a chance to redeem yourself. I've seen what can count as utterly unforgivable, and trust me, you're far from it. You can still redeem yourself… as long as you live."

"As long… as I live…" Okina muttered. Slowly, but surely, the spirit within him started to rise again.

"Of course, so long as you don't live the rest of your life doing bad things." Gai added, and as he noticed, Okina was regaining the spirits in his face, "Oh good, you're feelin' better now. That's more like it."

Gai knew it, he has succeeded. The brightness of life has once again shone within Okina's body once more, even if all he did was just a genuine smile. He admitted that he wouldn't be able to make speeches like this if he hasn't met his fellow Jetmen.

Unfortunately the feeling of satisfaction was just fleeting, as eventually, several people was spotted walking towards the two, and eventually had them surrounded. "What the heck?"

"You look lively, Okina. That's good." One certain man, adorning himself with a spiked leather jacket, seeming to be the boss, spoke with his eye glaring at Okina, "I guess you have what it takes for the next level. I wouldn't be satisfied with just robbery. Wanna try… serial-killing?"

Even Gai was surprised at hearing it that his eyes widened. Where did someone even try to think like that. "Now look here…" He was about to intercede on Okina's behalf… but the man himself spoke first.

"Boss. It has been so long since I followed you, so… I can say my answer for that question now." At this point, his eyes sharpened, "No. I won't do it. I won't sully my life with needless acts of evil like this! In fact, from this day forward, I quit!"

There was a bit of an awkward silence afterwards, until eventually the whole gang broke into laughter.

"Wimpy Okina now wants to quit! That's rich!"

"A bit late time for someone to grow some balls!"

"Heh… heh heh…" The boss, on the other hand, had a sinister chuckle instead of outright laughing, "So you wish to be a traitor of us. You do know what will happen to traitors, don't you?"

"I don't care. I'm going to follow my conscience from now on!" Okina bravely shouted, "I know you weren't exactly good guys, but day after day, your acts just got worse, especially after you freed me back then! Back then I didn't have the courage… but now I have…"

"Hah! What difference will it make?" The boss beckoned as suddenly, he and the rest of the gang member put their arms crossed on their chest, a pose that Gai found suspicious, "When compared to the power we received since then…! The power to conquer everything…!"

The boss and the gang member started to growl menacingly. Energies started to gather around them… until suddenly, all of the gang members transformed into both Hidrer and Grinam soldiers, while the boss himself turned into Tormon Horse.

"So you are a monster from the beginning…" Gai's suspicion confirmed and he started taking fighting stance. But in the same time, Okina did as well, "The hell are you doing, throwing your life away again!?"

"Gai… I'm not planning to die." Okina answered as he looked around him, "They'll come after me. But I won't go down without a fight!"

"Look, this isn't your run in the mill normal men, this is…" Gai tried to explain to him, but he eventually got an idea, "Okay, I got a plan. I'll clear a path so you can get out of here. Leave the rest to me. Got it?"

"Got it."

The two men moved forward and began attacking the soldiers. Tormon Horse also jumped into the fray and targeted Okina, but Gai leapt to the path between them and was instead being the one grabbed by the monster. He was then tossed to a line of soldiers.

"Perfect…!" Gai noticed that the line of soldier where he was thrown onto was pretty thin. He then called out Okina, "Hey! I clear this, you get out!"

"OK!"

Gai flipped enough that he turned the force used to throw him into a force to attack the enemy, kicking away Hidrer and Grinam soldiers and clearing a path, enough for Okina to run off. As the man made his escape, Gai attacked any soldiers that dared try to chase after him, eventually ending as he leapt and get in the way.

"Okay, this should make things easier…" Gai said as he prepared his hands for something… "Cross Cha-"

"Change and there will be hell to pay!" A female voice was heard shouting at him, and when Gai looked back, he was shocked… Ahames has ambushed Okina and now held him hostage by holding his unconscious body on a headlock.

"Damn it, Ahames…!" Gai quickly put down his fist, he didn't want harm to come to Okina. But then, something hit his curiosity, "Don't tell me that the Hellhorse Gang was once pure humans, and then…"

"You catch on quick. Radiguet was able to spot the darkness in their hearts overwhelming." Ahames answered proudly, "And with my help, we were able to plant a Bio-Dimension Bug, enhanced with a DNA of my Space Beast… and turning him into Tormon Horse, and the rest of the Gang our soldiers! Such is the face of humans of the Earth!"

"So it's just like that bastard Ichijou…" Gai commented, "If your understanding to humans is just that far, you'll never defeat us…!"

"Silence!" As Ahames yelled, the soldiers surrounded Gai and started beating him up, "I thought you would awaken your darkness on your own if I brought your killer in front of you, so you would be an easy prey to Tormon Horse, but it looks like that failed."

"Gah! You think I'm that… petty…!?" Gai managed to say something in the middle of being beaten down.

"So be it then." Ahames replied coldly, "It's either you die, or this guy…" Unfortunately for her, there was a laser blast coming right onto her shoulder. The blast distracted Ahames that she let Okina go. "Curses…!" Ahames grunted as she got up and looked at the culprit… "Nagisa Sayaka…!"

Sayaka was already standing there and just raised her hand. From the bushes behind her, both Remi and Dai leapt out and delivered both a flying kick and punch to Ahames, while from her side, both Youhei and Miki ran forward to get Okina into safety, and as Ahames was pushed back, from her direction she was stumbling to, both Takeru and Mako ran forward and slashed her away with their Shinkenmaru.

"Since when…!?" Ahames said in disbelief, "I made sure I put Hard Wall around…!"

"Then we probably have been here before you even came." Sayaka gave a simple answer, before she looked at Gai, "Course clear now, Gai!"

"Right!" Without anyone in hostage, Gai was able to fight to his fullest, breaking away from the soldiers that held him and joining in the fight, "You guys! Since when…"

"Did you really think we won't notice your suspicious acts?" Takeru gave a stern answer.

"We almost thought you were trying to exact vengeance." Youhei explained, "But… yeah, we came, snooped and listened… and… you know how it turns out."

"Thank goodness, Gai." Miki gave a final assurement, "We thought you'd…"

"Ah, don't sweat it." Gai said as he cracked his knuckles, lining up together with his friends, "The real ass-kicking can ensue now!"

"Uh…" But then Okina started to regain his consciousness.

"But first we gotta hide him first." Remi said, looking at Okina.

"This place is surrounded with Hard Wall." Dai commented, "But we'll not let anyone get near him!"

"I hope he knows his way around…" Mako said, "If you wish, I'll guard him."

"Impudence…! I'll have to concentrate myself further for the fight…!" Ahames grunted as she snapped her finger, "I've removed the Hard Wall… Now I'm ready to commit myself to destroy you! Tormon Horse, to me!"

"You heard her." Gai looked at Okina, "Scram, now! I'll get back to you later!" Okina just nodded, as he eventually ran off.

"Everyone, prepare yourselves." Takeru stated as he prepared his Shodophone and the rest also got their transformation devices ready.

"Ippitsu Soujou!"

"Blue Turbo!"

"Goggle Pink!"

"Cross Changer!"

"Change Mermaid!"

"Five Yellow!"

"Prism Flash! Shut Goggle!"

All eight then transformed facing Ahames and her armada.

"Shinken Red! Shiba Takeru."

"The same, Pink! Shiraishi Mako."

"The Samurai Sentai authorized by the Providence…" "Shinkenger! Go forth!"

"Blue Turbo!"

"Goggle Pink!"

"Black Condor!"

"Change Mermaid!"

"Five Yellow!"

"Green Flash!"

"We are… Super Sentai!"

"Tch… at this point, I'm at a disadvantage." Ahames grunted. She planned that Tormon Horse would consume the negative emotions of Gai's desire of vengeance, but because he brushed that off, her monster was unable to take advantage of that. However… Tormon Horse gave out a confident growl, hinting something at Ahames, "Oh… you can still do those? Very well. I expect that you succeed. Don't come back with failure."

With that, Ahames vanished and retreated. The Tormon Horse roared. All of the sudden, he started transforming, as he turned from a bipedal horse… into a motor horse. Not only that, the Grinam and Hidrer soldiers accompanying them came equipped with motorcycles.

"What…!?" Green Flash noted, "Now would be a good time to have something like my Flash Hawk!" Unfortunately, none of their motorcycles were present in this world.

"Incoming!" As Shinken Red warned, the motorcycles started running wild. Thanks to the power given by Tormon Horse, every of their motorcycle smash turned out to be deadly enough that the Super Sentai couldn't do quite much against them.

"Grr…!" Black Condor growled in annoyance as he fell. If Radiguet was there, surely that'd be another thing he'd add to gloat over him, that he's beaten by mere foot soldiers. "I'm not out of the picture yet…!"

At that point, the Super Sentai's losing battle was witnessed by Okina. And truth be told, he was also feeling very uneasy with the Sentai losing like that. 'There has to be something I could help…!' But he couldn't do anything himself by helping them physically. He's not sure that cheering them would help. There has to be something else…

Then he looked at the side, and realized something. And just as Black Condor fell rolling, he suddenly yelled, "GAI! GAI!"

"Oh what now!?" Black Condor shouted back, but then Okina waved and pointed to the side. When Black Condor looked at the location he's pointing, he was looking at a… garage. And there were a lot of motorcycles parked there. "That's it! Thanks a lot, Okina!"

While everyone was fighting, suddenly Black Condor made a dash to the garage. Eventually, he returned to the battlefield by driving a motorcycle right onto the motor horse that was Tormon Horse. "Whew! Not as good as my Jet Speeders, but this'll do!"

"Gai!?" Blue Turbo called in, "Where'd you get that? You know, if I had a motorcycle, I would…" Black Condor just responded by pointing to the garage, "Whoa…!"

"That's a nice discovery, Gai!" Five Yellow complimented before turning to the others, "C'mon, let's get on some motor action!"

As Blue Turbo, Change Mermaid, Five Yellow and Green Flash ran towards the garage, Black Condor caused further chaos to the enemy ranks by riding his motorcycle and shooting the enemies with his Bird Blaster. Soon, the other four came with motorcycles and helped out Black Condor attacking.

Meanwhile, both Shinken Red and Shinken Pink were still holding their ground, they had no experience with motorcycles after all. "Takeru, are you all right?" Shinken Pink asked.

"I'm fine." Shinken Red said, worried about something else, "How do you think Miki fared? The book said that she did not have any motorcycle-riding experience."

"I'm starting to wonder…" As Shinken Pink said that, she then noticed that Goggle Pink was using several back flips based on her gymnastic training to lure several motorcycle riders to her. Before they could smash her, she instead wrapped her Pink Ribbon to a particularly big tree and swung herself on a circle, kicking away the soldiers on their jaws. "I guess she's doing fine on her own."

"Good." Shinken Red then ran off towards Goggle Pink, followed by Shinken Pink, "Miki. Listen."

"What is it, Takeru?" Goggle Pink said as she stopped her spinning.

"Just… stay here. Right now your strategy will not work a lot against extremely mobile soldiers. I don't think they're gonna fall for it twice." Shinken Red explained to her, "Also, you may want to skip doing the Super Sentai Ball attack for the moment."

"Eh? Why not?" Goggle Pink asked, before realizing the subject they were talking about… the pain she got from overusage of the ball with the same color, "Hm, I understand that."

"Don't worry, I'll make it up for you." Shinken Pink assured her, "Maybe you can guard that Okina person for the moment."

"Okay, but… how are you going to help further? The fight isn't over!" Goggle Pink warned them, pointing that the fight between the rest on motorcycles, "Or you secretly has some motorcycle driving experience? Well… I don't. So, sorry."

"The Shinkengers have their own ways." Shinken Red said as he nodded to Shinken Pink. Facing away, they used their Shodophone to write the kanji "Horse", summoning two white stallions. Without wasting time, both Shinkengers mounted their horse and rode towards the battle and struck towards the motorcycle battle.

"Wow, that was… unexpected." Change Mermaid commented as she witnessed the cavalry charge of the Shinkengers, "I should have thought that through, horses being an alternative for motorcycle."

"Let's not worry about that, okay?" Shinken Pink said as she pulled the horse leash, "Let's finish this!"

And so, the Super Sentai excepting Goggle Pink, riding on their horses and motorcycles, ran in circles, slashing and shooting the enemies along the way. One by one, the foot soldiers fell, leaving Tormon Horse alone, as one last swipe from the Rekka Daizantou knocked it away, leaving him powerless and reverting to his bipedal form.

"We'll not waste any time further. Let's do this." Shinken Red said as he unleashed the Super Sentai Ball.

"What…!?" Blue Turbo said in surprise and shock, guessing what's going to transpire as Shinken Red suddenly tossed the ball forward, and while heading to it, he slashed the Tormon Horse that just got up with the Rekka Daizantou and with that one swipe, he smashed the ball towards Shinken Pink, "Super Sentai Ball on horse?"

And Shinken Pink swiped that ball away while riding her horse with her Heaven Fan, sending it to Change Mermaid, who deflected it to Green Flash using her Change Sword's shield, in which Green Flash gave a backhand to it with his Prism Kaiser. He also replied that as he saw the ball going to Five Yellow. "Yeah. And Super Sentai Ball on motorcycles."

"Youhei, incoming!" Five Yellow shouted as she shot the ball with the Five Blaster, heading towards Blue Turbo.

"OK!" Blue Turbo reacted quick and formed up his J-Gun, shooting it to the air, before looking around. 'Mako already hit that, so better not Miki. Who's vacant, who's vacant… Oh!' And his sight landed to Black Condor, who was heading to a rising slope. "Gai!"

"Leave it to me! Hyaah!" Black Condor accelerated his motorcycle and it leapt to the sky, heading to the ball. He drew his Bringer Sword while on air, and then… "Condor Finish!" He just leapt from the motorcycle seat and slashed the Super Sentai Ball with extreme force, sending it to Tormon Horse. The ball went through it and the monster fell, destroyed.

As the team dismounted from their horses and motorcycles, Goggle Pink ran towards them, "Good job, guys!"

"Well, I suppose it is a good thing that we are able to defeat him without an 8-man formation for the Super Sentai Ball." Shinken Pink commented.

"Hm. They're probably going to come up with new ways to fight against us. For now, though…" Shinken Red continued, "This brings the chapter to the close."

Later on…

The Super Sentai, all unmorphed, were in front the prison. Okina seemed to have made his decision. "You sure you want it this way?" Sayaka asked, trying to ask for his opinion.

"Yeah, I made up my mind. I want to serve my sentence for the rest of my life." Okina answered confidently, "I know I helped you, but that didn't take away the fact that I took Gai's life. They sentenced me for life, I'll just have to take my responsibility for it."

"I… I don't know." Youhei commented, feeling a little sad, "I hoped that there's more that we can help to you."

"Oh, don't worry about that. Living in the prison is still living. Besides…" Okina smiled, recalling and comparing his experience, present and past, "Back when I first arrived here, my guilt made me feel dead in the inside. Thanks to Gai, I can say that I look forward on living, even in prison."

"Just keep up your spirits and good attitude." Gai assured, looking at the invigorated man, "Maybe they'll be motivated and changed your sentence if you keep it up."

"There's no guarantee, but I'll try!" Okina answered, "Thank you for everything!"

"Mr. Okina, it's time…" The nearby guard reminded. After bowing to the Super Sentai, Okina then walked away, letting the guard escort him back to prison.

"Mr. Guard." Takeru called to the guard one last time, and he looked at the Sentai leader, "Take good care of him."

"Please don't be so harsh on him." Miki added. The guard just smiled in acknowledgement, and finally the Super Sentai left.

"Aah! The sunshine!" When they went to the outdoors, it was pretty sunny. Remi stretched her arms upwards for that, "Sure is a nice weather to celebrate a man getting his spirits back, right, guys?"

"Indeed. Maybe as an extra, I'll try cooking a meal for dinner." As Mako said that, suddenly everyone put their eyes on Mako in terror, "Um… what? I want to know how much I have improved…"

"At least I can vouch for that." Sayaka backed Mako up, "Mako has improved a lot. Why not let her have it?"

"Well, if you say so, Sayaka. I'll trust your judgment." Miki added, finally assuring Mako that she could try to cook next time. She then looked at Takeru, "Come now, Takeru, there's no need to be scared. If Sayaka says it…"

"Quit it." Takeru brushed Miki's insistence, before he looked to Mako. It was kind of hard for him to say it, but he finally said the words, "I look forward to the dinner."

"Thank you for the trust." Mako said, before she eventually looked at the other one, "Gai. So… you're really over it."

"Damn straight I am over my past and my death!" Gai answered, recalling much of the battles that has transpired, "At least the guy's now on a straight path. That's what's best for him." He then looked at Youhei and had a teasing look on his face, "And you, college boy, you better grow up straight. Not everyone gotta follow rowdy path like my life, and seriously, that doesn't fit you."

"H-hey! I can direct my life well enough, thank you!" Youhei protested, and he got even more annoyed when he looked that Gai's grin got bigger.

"Uuh… is it just me or it's too hot…?" All of the sudden, however, Dai spoke and held his shoulder to cover his face from the sun. "Man, this reminds me of…" Suddenly, he stopped, and his eyes widened. He couldn't believe he took this one too lightly. 'Oh no…! Don't tell me it's coming…! But I wasn't even done…!'

"Dai? Are you okay?" Remi approached him, but then she looked rather shocked at a slight change on Dai's body, "Oh dear! Your skin! Is it getting sunburned?"

"Huh? Sun… burned?" Dai was confused and he wished he could panic at the moment. But he didn't want to worry the others. So he just released the cover on his face and put up a big smile, "Oh, so that's how it's called in Earth! Yeah, must be that!"

Takeru looked at Dai's expression, but somehow, he could detect that something was off with Dai's sudden cheery attitude. However, he decided that now was not the time for that. "Let's just go home for now…"

With this battle, Yuki Gai unraveled the last knots of his past, and he could dedicate himself even better to the grand fight so far. However, it seemed that the dark clouds not only loomed over the fates of Miki and Mako, but also the fate of Dai. Would this be something to take advantage of by the bad guys? And how will the Super Sentai face their future battles because of this? Regardless… they will never give up. Stand strong! Fight! Super Sentai!

At the enemies hideout, however, the happy conversation was observed by the enemies throughout their vision monitor. "Happy thoughts that will not last forever." Radiguet commented, "As long as my trump card remains…"

"Hm…?" Lee Keflen finally noted an oddity when he witnessed the conversation. He made it that the monitor zoomed on Dai, "Could it be…! That thing…!"

"What thing…?" Mazurka asked, "Is this something that could be beneficial to us?"

"Yes. Maybe with this, we could take out one person from the team." Lee Keflen said as he walked away from the hall, "I will require personal space as I try to arrange how to take advantage of this."

"Huh. A typical planner." Doldora said, before she looked at Ahames, "So… has Juuzou and Jarmin recovered?"

"They should be ready any time." Ahames nodded, before she looked at Radiguet, "Do you want to give them another chance to redeem their mistakes?"

"A tempting offer, but I'll let them rest a bit. I'm more interested in what Lee Keflen can come up with." Radiguet answered, and stared at Ahames further, "You do know what he is talking about… am I right?"

"Based on what he saw…?" Ahames understood what he meant and smiled, "Yes. I understand."

"Good…" Radiguet nodded as he looked at the monitor further. But, that was just to hide something in his face.

'We've failed and failed a lot. How I would look forward to punish them all for their failures… But I cannot act too hastily. If anything I've learned from my experiences with Tranza, acting too rushed may yield unwanted results. As long as my trump card exists, I have my time…'

Super Sentai vs Super Sentai… will continue at Act 30

Author's note: We will see if your pride instead gets in the way, Radiguet. We will see.

Anyway that was Chapter 29! I think I'm on the camp that the killer of Gai was just human after all, he's not just some bloodthirsty monster that gloats on killing someone, so I thought I'd write around that. If anything Gai got a closure about his death and stuffs. But then, what's this premonition for Dai… Hope it won't be that bad…

That said, I think the monster this chapter might be a little... lackluster, or maybe he didn't get to show his more fearful ability because Gai has gone too badass to shove it off before it even began. But hey, we get fights on motorcycles and horse.

That being said, next chapter is going to be a Super Sentai typical episode… recap episode! Hey, I've been away for years, these new readers deserve a quick run through of what happened so far! I'll be seeing you there! See you later!
