I woke up the morning after our successful hunt. I was excited because Sam was taking me to see Andrew. I threw the blanket off of me and stood up, stretched. I put on some clothes and I went to Sam's room. I knocked and waited. Sam answered.
"Hey, when are we going to get going?" I asked as Sam let me in his room. I still smelled the sulfur. I really wished he wouldn't lie to me. Sam obviously thought he was protecting me, but I wasn't going to stand for it for long.
"We'll grab some breakfast at the diner and head out after that." Sam told me. I nodded.
"Cool, can't wait." I told him. Sam smiled and began to throw clothes in his bags.
"I want to stop at a Laundromat soon too, maybe a few towns down. Is there one in Andrew's town? We could wash clothes there. We wouldn't have to stop." Sam told me.
'I'll ask, come get me when we're ready to go." I told him, leaving his room. I walked down the corridor, feeling watched. I turned, looking around. I only saw a few people leaving their rooms. A tall shameful looking man in a suite, going home, his wife was out of town. I knew lots about him, studying him the past two weeks, overhearing his conversation with his mistress.
I sent a trickster creation after him home; his wife would be coming soon… She worked hard to help him keep the house and two cars that they could barely pay for.
I did trickster people on the side. But I never went to the same extent as Dad. I revealed them as the douchebag or heartless bitch they were and made sure they lost what they thought they owned but didn't deserve. I turned around and saw Dad smirking at me.
"Don't say it." I told him.
"What? There's nothing wrong with properly dealing with an arrogant son of a bitch every once in a while." He told me as I went past him and into my room. I rolled my eyes and unlocked my door, going into my room. I started packing.
"So, you like this guy?" Dad asked. I smirked.
"No." I told him.
"I asked you to protect him because of how he is clearly into me even though he doesn't know what he's getting into, he doesn't need to die because of ignorance.' I told Dad.
"You would let other people die because of their own ignorance.' Dad told me.
"Okay, maybe I like him a little. He's the only normal thing in my life and I want to make sure he's safe." I told Dad. He laughed softly.
"You don't have to explain yourself to me, baby doll." He told me. I shook my head. I loved my dad he was protective but not insanely. I picked up my art stuff, a new pack of pastels Sam gave to me for our fight the other day. They were pretty good, at least twenty dollars. He felt guilty for lying, he knew I knew he was lying, and he was trying to buy my forgiveness. I loved my cousin but I wouldn't be bribed into forgetting what I knew.
There was a knock on the door.
"Hey, Abbi, you ready to go?' I heard Sam's call. Dad came over and kissed my head.
"Good luck, Sugar." He told me quietly. I smiled at him.
"Thanks Dad." I told him he winked and disappeared. I picked up my stuff and I went over to the door and left.
We rolled onto the highway, I settled down into my seat and watched the scenery roll by.
"Can you get out a map and check for the quickest route to Andrew's town?" Sam asked.
"Yep." I said, opening the compartment in front of me and pulling out the map I flipped though the map until I got to Washington.
"I can just call him." I told Sam. He nodded.
"Go ahead." He told me I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called him.
"Hey Abbi! You in town yet?" He asked eagerly.
"Nope. We need the quickest route to town from the Montana state line, you know that?" I asked him.
"Oh, yeah. Just get on high way 46 and just keeping going to Washington.. Then get off at exit nine. It'll take you right to Havens." He told me. I smiled.
"Seems like you got that sorted out before hand." I told him. He laughed.
"I'm excited to see you. It's only a matter of hours you know." He told me. I smiled again.
"Yeah, I know. See you in a few hours, Andrew." I told him.
"Okay, can't wait to see you." He said. I hung up.
"Get on forty-six and then get off at exit nine when we get into Washington." I told him. He nodded.
"Hey, do you know what today's date is?" Sam asked.
"Um." I checked my phone, September Seventeenth. Why?" I asked.
"Sometimes I need to remind myself. I like to keep in touch with things. May not have a real job but that's no reason to not be up to date." He told me. I nodded.
"Cool." I said and looked outside. I pulled out an old withered copy of Dracula and started to read. Yeah I was a hunter, and yeah, Dracula was a vampire. But this stuff really could've happened.
"Hey Sam?" I asked.
"Yeah?" He asked.
"This may be a silly rookie hunter question, but is Dracula a legit thing?" I asked. Sam laughed.
"Nothing saying it can't have happened, Abbi." He told me good heartedly I laughed too, it was one of the first moments of bliss between Sam and I since Dean died. I decided to forgive Sam for lying to me, really, what harm could it do? I was just over reacting. I was worried because I was afraid of losing him to demons the same way I lost Dean. I knew I needed to chill out.
We rode into Washington and got off on exit nine. We then drove for about an hour and a half, finally entering Talo Junction. I smiled softly.
"Okay, so do you want to go to Andrew's or would you rather get a motel first?" Sam asked.
"Let's go swing by Andrew's." I told him. Sam nodded.
"Alright" He told me and drove onto Andrew's house. I practically jumped out of the car, realizing I was more excited than I thought I was. I went up the front stairs with Sam on my heels and rang the doorbell. It opened after a second or two. It was Andrew's mother. She smiled at me
'Hello again, Monica. Nice to see you." She told me as she opened the screen door.
"Hi, Mrs…."
"Oh, Mrs. Weaver." She told me and offered her hand to shake. I shook her hand with a warm smile, she then looked to Sam.
"Hi, I'm Sam." He told her. She smiled wider.
"Where's your other cousin, Monica?" She asked.
"Oh, he couldn't make it." I told her.
"Well come inside. I'll get Andrew, he's upstairs." She told us as we entered the house. Sam and I sat down in the living room on the couch. Feet pounded down the stairs and Andrew jumped down from four steps up. I stood as he came in and hugged me tightly. I hugged him back.
"Hi Andrew." I told him.
"It's so great to see you! I need to show you to all my friends, they don't think you exist, so come on." Andrew told me, grabbing my hand, nearly tugging me out of the house.
"Wait, Sam is it okay?" I asked. Sam looked at us from the floor.
"Yeah, just don't take her too far." Sam said. Andrew's grey eyes sparkled mischievously and he pulled me out of the house. He pulled me onto the side walk and we started walking. We went down the street quietly chatting about our lives since we last saw each other.
"Okay, here's Mike's house. He won't leave me alone about it. But we'll show him, right?" He smiled boyishly as turned to me. I felt light.
"Yeah, we'll show him." I told Andrew and we walked briskly across the yard. Loud shooting from a video game blasted out on of the second story windows. I rolled my eyes.
"He coops up on a lovely day like this and he picks on you?" I asked Andrew. My friend laughed and knocked on the door. A short woman with dark brown hair answered with a smile.
"Hi Andrew, who's your friend?" She asked.
"This is Monica, I came over to introduce her to Mike." Andrew said smugly. I giggled, feeling like the teenage girl I should be. The woman laughed softly.
"I'll go get him." She told us. Andrew took me over to the swing and we sat down.
"So how was your trip?" He asked. I groaned.
"Long. I'm really happy to be here." I told him. Andrew ran his hair through his dark brown hair. The door opened and another boy came out onto the porch. He wore glasses and had light blond hair; his eyes were a very pale blue.
"Who's this, Andrew?" He asked with a smirk.
"This is Abbi, Mike, the girl I was telling you about." Andrew told him as we stood. Mike laughed.
"What, did you go to the town down the road and pay a girl to pretend to be your girlfriend?" Mike asked snootily.
"Nope, Abigail Winchester. I'm from Louisiana." I told him Mike gave me a sarcastic look. Boys. Andrew seemed to be above their stupidity.
"Sure. How much he pay you?" He asked, folding his arms over his chest.
"Nothing, I met Andrew a few months ago. While my cousin was on a case for the FBI." I told him.
"Really?" Mike said.
"Yes, you're being stupid. Just believe that I'm an actual person and deal with it." I told him sassily. Andrew laughed.
"You know what; I think we should go by the park. Come one, Abbi." Andrew said, grabbing my hand and pulling me off of the porch and to the side walk.
"He has a bad attitude." Andrew told me. I giggled.
"I can tell." I told him. He laughed softly, looking to the ground. I really liked him. We entered the park and sat down on a bench
"I know we haven't known each other this long." Andrew told me.
"Don't get all sappy on me, Andrew Weaver." I told him. He laughed again.
"I like you Abbi." He told me. I knew what he meant. And I liked him too. I was crazy for liking someone I barely knew, but I really, really liked being with him. His hand entwined with my own.
"I don't really fit in all that great here and you help me feel like I'm okay." He told me. I kissed him. I didn't get things to get awkward. I felt him smile. I pulled back from him.
"I guess that's a yes." He replied laughingly
"As long as it wasn't a marriage proposal, or oral sex, then yeah." I told him, he laughed again, and wrapped his arms around me. My phone rang.
"Crap." I said as I pulled out my phone.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Hi Abbi. Where are you? I just want to check in." Sam asked.
"I'm at the park with Andrew." I told him.
"Okay, as long as you're safe, you think there's anything 'supernatural' about him?" Sam asked. I shook my head.
"No. I'm fine, everything's fine." I told him.
"You sound pretty happy." Sam told me.
"Yeah, I guess it's just nice to act like a teenager every once in a while. But I gotta go, later Sam." I told him.
"Wait, I'm going to go on and get some motel rooms. Just go back to Andrew's and call me when you're ready for me to come get you." He told me.
"Okay Sam." I told him. I hung up after saying goodbye and I returned my attention to my new boyfriend. I was happy as I looked at his kind grey eyes. But I was worried about where dating me would get him. I leaned against him a little.
'This is nice." I told him.
"Yeah, I like it too." He told me. I smiled. I ended up staying for dinner with Andrew. But after that I left. I was lounging on the bed in Sam's room as he sat at the table. Before I knew it I was assaulted with the most God-awful headache. I screamed and clutched my head. Sam leapt from his chair and took me in his arms.
"What's wrong, Abbi, what is it!?" Sam yelled. I barely heard him over the high pitched humming. Underneath the screaming I could barely make out the words Pontiac. And as quick as it came it went.
"Abbi, Abbi, are you okay?" Sam asked. I trembled pathetically.
"Pontiac, Sam, we need to go to Pontiac." I told him.
"O-okay. I was trailing a group of demons, they went to Pontiac, there must be something going on there. We'll leave tomorrow."
"No, now." I told him.
"Oh, alright."
