Chapter 29
"
Dreams"

The phone rang. Caroline stood up and answered it. It was Elena.

Caroline: Hey!
Elena: Oh, I miss your voice! How are you?
Caroline: I'm fine. Really good. And you?
Elena: Good.
Caroline: Elena, I know you my whole life, what's up?
Elena: Nothing; nothing.
Caroline: Seriously now! Elena?
Elena: I just miss you; miss your voice. Tell me how's life with the Mikaelsons?
Caroline: I live in a dream and guess what? I'm the queen!
Elena: I'm so happy for you, although it's hard to believe that your King-Klaus is actually that dreamy!
Caroline: Stop it! He changed! I've changed. Now I get why he had to be the way he was. I'm just fine where I am; and I never was better. I found a home and a family.
Elena: Don't you miss us? Your friends?
Caroline: Of course I do miss you. But I needed some time for myself and I found it here. Elena, I have to go. We'll talk soon. Love ya.

Caroline closed the phone, took a breath and turned around to leave the room. As she turned she saw Klaus standing behind her.

Caroline: Klaus! Oh my God. You scared the hell out of me!
Klaus: Are you really happy here?
Caroline: What are you talking about? For how long are you standing there?
Klaus: Answer me.
Caroline: I see.. You heard us talking the whole time.
Klaus: Are you happy here? With us? With me?
Caroline: How can you ask me? You should know better than anyone. Come here. Look me in my eyes and get your answer. Isn't it clear?
Klaus: I want you to be happy. If you want to get back to Mystic F-
Caroline: shhh.. I'm right exactly where I need to be. You heard what I told Elena. I found a family here. I found you. I'm staying because I want to. Because I love you. I can't be somewhere you won't be near next to me.
Klaus: You are important to me. Just remember that. You are important to me.

Klaus kissed her and she smiled. They were so happy having each other. They both finally were happy. For a month now they were enjoying their time.

New Orleans was peaceful that pass month. The Mikaelsons had an amazing time. The only one who was afraid that something dark was coming was Davina. She had that strange premonition that something ominous was about to visit them.

Seth, though, was beyond angry. He was furious! To him getting inside the Mikaelson's house and getting what was needed was supposed to be a piece of cake. But it had been one month, one month since the day he had taken the women and had told Caroline about his family and his beloved sister and yet he was unable to get the ashes of Kol Mikaelson. Everything else was ready: the spell, the ingredients of the spell and Genevieve was even ready to perform her task but the main ingredient that would allow him to get his revenge was nowhere to be found. His plan was not going according to plan and he was getting impatient.

Seth: It's unacceptable! A month and yet no progress was made!
Genevieve: They never leave the house all together. And they have witches to -
Seth: I'm aware, you fool! That little scrawny witch is more trouble than she's worth. We have killed her when we had the chance!
Genevieve: She's a harvest girl, that's why she is so powerful.
Seth: Powerful! Powerful! That is not powerful! She is merely a sacrifice gone wrong. They can't even do a proper sacrificial ritual.

Genevieve stayed silent as Seth continued passing around the room in which they were trying to find a way into the Mikaelson Mansion and to the remains. They had been in there all day and she was tired but she didn't say anything to him. She didn't want to enrage him more than he already was. It would not end well for her and she knew it.

Seth: I could always use one of their "day-walkers", bide them to my own liking and have them do the work but of course Niklaus is no fool to let anyone inside his home… That useless blonde waitress, what was her name?
Genevieve: Cami – Camille I think.
Seth: Camille… I could use her. They trust her, yes? I could make her do anything I want.
Genevieve: She – She is friendly with them, yes. But I – I don't think that she'd be able to get inside. She has never before – it will be suspicious. They'll know.

Seth turned around and threw the glass of whiskey that was on the shelf next to him on the wall behind Genevieve breaking into millions of pieces. Genevieve jumped on her seat, wincing as a piece of glass hit her cheek. Seth's furious eyes landed on her and she held her breath for whatever was coming.

Seth: SHUT UP! Always a clever remark! Always something negative! What do you suggest then? What does your non-existent brain has to say? TELL ME!
Genevieve: I – I don't… I'm – I…
Seth: Stop your pathetic stuttering and speak! Speak now because you might not be here to stutter in the next few seconds!
Genevieve: H – Hayley… She – You had… The s – spell you did. Her dreams.

Seth's face changed into a thoughtful look. Genevieve's wide eyes were watching him waiting for the fatal blow to come. But it never did. And what happened next made her even more frightened than already was, even more scared of him. He smirked at her, approaching slowly like a predator his pray.

Seth: Now, now Genevieve… I knew there was a reason I was keeping you around. Get up.
Genevieve: W - What?
Seth: I said get up. Don't make me change my mind now.

Slowly Genevieve stood up from the chair facing Seth, trembling at the smirk on his face trying very hard not to let the tears fall from her eyes. Seth opened his arms, Genevieve flinching at the act, and then hugged her. Genevieve's face paled and her trembling worsened but she stayed frozen on the spot, her hands lifeless on her sides not hugging back. Even though the act itself was meant to be reassuring or warm or even loving, Seth was making it feel cold, evil and unwelcoming. He patted her back in an approving way letting go of her and making his way to the bar while Genevieve still stood there trying to recover.

Seth: Ah, dreams… I have been plaguing the wolf's dreams ever since that day. But now, now, I am about to become her worst nightmare!
