Passing through the spot where they had just been standing Lucivar created a ball of witchlight just so they could see their surroundings. "A hallway?"
Jaenelle shrugged, "Papa must have destroyed everything above the ground but … forgot… about this spot?"
"Cat, do you honestly think that the High Lord would forget about something that he had built?"
"Well, no. but I was hoping that we could pretend that that was the answer and not worry about that right now."
Saying nothing else Lucivar began down the small hallway. Was just in view of a door when he heard something …moan… from behind it. "Lady, can you shield?"
It would hurt like a wicked bitch… but…" Yes I can shield."
He waited till he could feel her shield… not the ebon- black, but black… it would be enough for whatever was behind the door.
He had his warblade in one hand and pushed the door open with the other. Not yet taking a step into the room he floated several small balls of witchlight and tried so very hard not to breathe after.
There in the room… shackled to the wall… were two barely dressed … men… demon?... "Lady?"
Jaenelle pushed passed him and cursed. Both men were barely alive… alive being a loose word since both were guardians… and neither would have had any fresh blood in a very long time. "How much yarbarah do you have with you?"
He call in the four bottles that he had the sense enough to bring since he knew who he had asked to come… it didn't matter if they would have had their own… "Will this be enough?"
She took two of the bottles and used one of her nails to make a small opening in her veins. She ignored the hiss from behind her. "Just enough to get them home, prince. Then Karla can help them until I'm well enough to do what will be necessary."
"Give me one of those. You can get this one to drink that, I'll get the other."
It wasn't until Lucivar was right next to the man that he saw the wings. Tomorrow he would deal with that… right now… he tilted the man's head back and poured the drink down his throat. About half way done he opened his dull golden eyes. Carefully Lucivar pulled the bottle back, "Easy now."
"Who are you?" it was a horse whisper…
""My name is Lucivar. Once we get you and your … friend … a bit more of this in you we'll get you out of here."
The Eyrien nodded once. He could smell fresh blood… not moon's blood but similar. "The girl… she just gave birth?"
Lucivar bit back the smile, "If you tell her that she needs a healer she will dent your head."
Was that supposed to make sense? "More?' He looked at the bottle.
Once both men had finished off their first bottles or yarbarah when Jaenelle asked, "Two questions. What is your names and how did you end up here?"
The eyrien spoke first, "Are you going to let us go?"
Jaenelle's eyes narrowed, "Oh I already decided that you're coming with us. I'm trying to decide if you'll be awake or not when I dump you in front of the black widow who wanted you found."
"Cat, I doubt scaring them will get you answers."
"Damn it hell. I should be in bed… Sleeping. Probably sleeping…" She paused, "Either way I should not be finding what your brother didn't remember was here to start with. And he better have know who you suppose to find or once he is healed I'm going to give him a ear full about something."
The other man who had been completely silent now wheezed out? "The black widow is a male?"
"Yes, a snarly, over protective male that has of yet learned when to give useful information." She watched Lucivar wince, "and before you start, I'm allowed to be bitchy. I just gave birth… and damn it that hurt."
"Payton."
"What?" Jaenelle turn back to the man that was trying his best no to draw too much attention to himself.
"My name… its Payton. That's my brother…"
Lucivar wheezed, "Revenar?"
"Oh good grief. Lucivar you get to explain this to papa."
"Like hell I am. Daemon can. He sent me here so he can explain it."
"As fun as this is to listen to… how about one of you brake these damn chains and let's go to wherever this elusive black widow is."
"Sweetheart, can you wrap a illusion web around them?"
"Why?"
"Because I think when they see who is above ground they will want to look more presentable… Maybe."
Narrowing her eyes she grumbled, "The next time you're in the practice circle I am going to kick your ass.
Lucivar helped Revenar to his feet and held back until Jaenelle and their brother were out of the room, "She's really not usually that bitchy."
"Haven't met a witch yet that was a pleasure to be around for a day or two after giving bith." He tried to take a small step without falling… and nearly flatten Lucivar. "Why is she not in a bed by the way?"
"Wouldn't have found you if she didn't come."
"Ah." Taking a deep breath he asked the one thing that he need to know, "Any Idea how to get back up to the surface?"
"Yep. And when you can take a full step on your own Someone will teach it to you."
Revenar waited till they cleared the ground before asking, "You haven't asked how long we been down there."
'I have a feeling it would be better if you only told that bit of information once."
Well it's about time you came up. The lady is already in the coach with her new patients… Who I'm told I will be properly introduced to sometime after he speaks to Daemon…" Andulvar narrowed his eyes, "Which reminds me… should you… my dear nephew be carrying that much weight right now."
Shit. "It was the only way to get him up here." He paused then in a tone that a child would use if trying not to get in bigger trouble asked, "You wouldn't mind helping him the rest of the way so I don't piss off any of the court healers… would you."
*Why do you need a healer?*
Lucivar looked at his cousin * Because I didn't listen to a warning when I should have.*
"Since I'm feeling generous right now. I'll help him. However Karla will know about what you were doing before I decide if you need your ass kicked.
Wonderful… just wonderful.
Kealeer
Daemon let out a hiss. His lungs burned… and there was nothing that didn't hurt….
"Daemon, quit fighting the sleep webs."
"Rose, don't bother. He's a stubborn warlord prince that won't listen until someone makes him." Karla came over by the side of the bed then leaned over so Daemon only had to open his eyes to see her. "So since your awake, you get to meet someone… Well two some ones. Then will see about if you want to cooperate and submit to a nice sleep web."
His eyes were barely open… regardless … her smile was not comforting.
A moment later something that smelled like powder was held up just enough so he could see… A small smile then in a breathless whisper "Ashlyn."
"Well damn. So glad your daughter has a name. Too bad she can't wake you upside the head."
Reaching up … just barely… Daemon tried to touch his daughter.
"I'll make a deal with you. I'll make a shield so your daughter can lay on your chest … if… you agree to a sleep web."
He gave just a small nod.
Laying Ashlyn on his chest she nodded to Gabrielle. "And before you get some sleep… Your son." She placed him to Daemon left.
As Daemon's eyes fluttered closed he whispered, "Namesake."
Karla looked at the healers who were in the room. Looked at the High Lord who had been trying to get Daemon settled in a sleep web that he wouldn't fight… He look just as puzzled. "So who do I thank for knocking the pain in the ass out?"
Saetan breathed out a sigh of relief. "I think… and if I'm right I do not want to know… but I think my niece decided that her papa needed to be asleep."
Looking back down at the little baby who was now making a soft purring sound, "I think you might be right."
Tersa slipped into the room, "My boy needs rest."
"Oh." Karla nodded, "You have our many thanks. Perhaps you would like to sit with your boy's children?"
"I will tell them stories until my winged boy returns."
"Ladies, I think we have some tonics that need made."
*We do?* Gabrielle asked.
*I don't want to hear whatever stories that Tersa is going to tell to babies that are but hours old.*
Gabrielle smiled at Saetan, "Oh uncle Saetan, you are starting to look a bit peaked, why don't I go make you something… unless you want to wait for Jaenelle."
Oh mother night. "How about I help you?"
*He doesn't want us mixing any of Jaenelle's blood into the tonic by accident.*
