"Does she always have to bug me about that?" An amused moan left my mouth, looking down to the piece of paper I couldn't help but wear a big grin as I began to place it down.
Looking towards the rest of the packages and letters that I had placed neatly on my desk I couldn't help but feel a little reminiscent with them.
To be honest only a small handful of them were even personally meant for me, the others were related to work, but even then they still left me feeling uplifted.
Looking around me, and the lack of any work that needed to be done, I took notice of the clock that sat above the door.
"Hmm, it's getting pretty late..."
Looking to the clock and it's hands as they rested on 6:37, I began to finally feel my body adjusting to the current time.
(Grrr...)
And my stomach realizing that it's time for dinner I quickly began to think into what dinner could be.
Several minutes passed as I whirled mindlessly in place on my office chair my thoughts swiftly decided on eating out.
Quickly standing up I quickly took in my workspace, looking to see if any work had to be done, and rather quickly I realized that there was nothing left to do, and with my evening free I quickly darted out the door.
After few minutes of walking through the city, the streetlights began to flicker to life as the sun itself was lowering leaving an artificial translucent glow throughout the city.
Following the familiar paths through the lit city I finally made my way to one of the only restaurants available in all of Beach City.
Walking through the door a bell rang as I was greeted with the site of several people sitting down, some even were eating a slice of pizza.
"Hey Matthew!" Shouted a familiar voice causing me jump slightly, looking to my right my eyes found that it was one of the twins.
"Oh? Uhh, hi Jenny." I answered back awkwardly, this didn't seem to bother Jenny at all as she just stood leaning on the counter with a bored look to her.
"So how are'ya Matthew?" Jenny asked, slowly looking more energized, a smile forming as she looked to me waiting.
'I'm doing rather well actually, decided to come by here to try the food." Hearing this Jenny perked up, looking at me excitedly she wore a wide smile.
"That's great!" She nearly shouted causing some of the other patrons to look up from there seats, this didn't last long as they immediately lowered their heads minding themselves.
"From what is heard you still haven't tried some of our food have you?" She questioned.
Looking to her I couldn't help but remember the time I had delivered some pizza over to Steven and ate several slices with him.
"That's not entirely true..." I eased out slowly causing Jenny to look to me with surprise.
"Say wha? I'm pretty sure I'd know if you got some of our pizza." She exclaimed looking at me with energy, looking back I couldn't help let out a somewhat strained yet genuine chuckle.
"Sorry I tell you but I've already tried some of your pizza. I got a chance to try some of it over at Stevens a while back."
With a quick look of realization Jenny let out a soft smile as if fully understanding the situation.
"Oh if it's because of Steven that makes a lot of sense." She said nodding her head with both eyes closed.
Closing my own eyes I let out a light exhale and soon gave a soft chuckle as I felt the tension leave my body.
But to my own surprise as I opened eyes I was met face to face with Jenny as she leaned out over the counter.
"So then, what are you ordering?" She said said with a wide devious grin, this in turn sent me reeling back in surprise.
"W-well, uhhhh..." I stammered, this causing Jenny to hold back a laugh as she looked to me with a somewhat apologetic look.
"I'm uhh, I'll get the-"
"Jenny!" Yelled out a voice causing everyone in the restaurant, including Jenny, to jump up.
"There you are, stop mingling with the customers and take order." Kofi said having lowered his voice considerably as he quickly spotted his daughter all the while not even looking to me, even though he did call my name.
"I was just about to, but then you scared the poor guy, pretty sure you spooked the entire floor." Jenny said staring down the counter, causally retrieving an order chit.
"Ahem, sorry for any inconveniences ." Kofi apologized, looking to him said looking quite stern, this contrasted his apology as he went walked to the back of the restaurant leaving us. With a sigh of relief Jenny looked to me as she held out both a pen and paper.
"So then Matthew, what'll it be." Jenny asked ready to write whatever came to my mind.
"Umm, I'll get the..." I said trailing off, stuck wondering what to get.
"The small pepperoni." With that she quickly wrote down my order.
"Hey Gunga, we got a small pepperoni coming up!" She shouted out, causing me to jump once more.
With a second of silence an older voice called out from the back of the pizzeria.
"Right away my little Jen-Jen." Called out the familiar voice using a sweet nickname, this however caused Jenny to groan.
"Gunga, what did I say about calling me that when my friends are around." She groaned out sounding more like an embarrassed child, a smile began to break through as I saw the state that Jenny was in.
The thought of 'Friend' popped up as my small grin grew into a full fledged smile.
"Ohh, I'm sorry Jen-Jen." Said the elderly voice, who I had finally recognized a Nanefua.
"Ugh..." She moaned out, looking back to me, my smile having disappeared, looked to me with an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry Matthew." Jenny said.
"For what?" I replied, taken back as to what could have happened.
"For your first trip here being all weird an stuff." She said, with me looking to her with surprise, she stood there visibly disappointed with my first visit.
"It's not bad at all!" I nearly shouted out loud.
Looking to me with surprise, Jenny was taken back by my sudden outburst.
"It's actually really fun that's these kind of moments." I paused as I was looking for the right way to describe this moment, with Jenny still standing in place with a soft smile slowly growing as she looked to me.
"I've been pretty stressed over some things since I've got here, but..." I paused and looked to Jenny and immediately thought of Kiki at the same time.
"I-I guess just seeing so many people being so comfortable around a strangle like myself just, I dunno, reassures me, seeing people act like a family just made me realize that I guess." I finished, with my gaze leaning to my left I quickly looked to Jenny as she wore the widest smile I've seen.
"Aww Matthew!" She squealed, jumping over the counter and giving a strong hug, leaving me both breathless literally and figuratively.
"You big puffball!" She cheered, leaving me stuck in place with the strength of her hug, all I could do was weakly pat her back with one of my free hands.
After another few seconds of her squeezing the life out of me she finally let go, and a flow of air returned to my lungs.
Taking a deep breath in I began to feel much better as both Jenny and I stood there with her still smiling.
"Kiki!" Yelled Kofi, his voice calling out from the back.
"She's still out on a run dad!" Emmy shouted back.
"What!?" He replied loudly, quickly coming around the corner.
"We have a too many orders sitting around for her to be lallygagging, Jenny hurry and go find her." Kofi said sternly, Jenny looking at him with a blank stare.
"How can I when the car doesn't even have any gas?" She said flatly.
"Then use your feet!" He replied still with a sturdy voice.
"What if one of our customers want to pay when I'm gone?" She replied.
By this point a subtle break in his stance could be seen, as Jenny gave her reason.
A subtle silence grew between the two as Jenny stood there leaning on the counter giving a fish eyed stare to her father while Kofi himself was stuck looking for what to say.
"I'll go." Both of them quickly looked to me surprised as I gave my own option.
"What?!" Jenny said fully taken back, her father however looked to me considering this.
"Sure." He said with a renewed sense of authority.
"Really Dad? What gives?" Jenny asked her father, confused with his decision.
"Maybe seeing one of your friends working hard will get you to do the same." He quickly retorted, looking pleased with himself, this caused Jenny to sigh as she rolled her eyes.
"Well..." I said inching my way to the door feeling uneasy with the current situation between both Kofi and Jenny.
"I'll be right back!" I said quickly as I darted out the door and onto the boardwalk, quickly looking both left and right I began to think as to where to go.
After a second or two I chose right and made a light jog, looking for Kiki.
