Chapter Twenty-Nine
Stan knew he had no chance of being able to calm the ecstatic teenagers that were all in front of him. It was the last day of school. Everyone- both students and staff - were all counting down the hours and minutes they had left before they could run out the gates and enjoy months of freedom. So instead of yelling at the teenagers and trying to calm them down, Stan just simply sat down behind his desk and pulled out a book to start reading.
At the back of the classroom Adrian scrunched up a paper ball and threw it at the front, hitting some random kid on the back of the head to cause a majority of the class to start laughing. Mason burst into laughter and rolled up his own paper ball to throw the ball at a random student. Said student was Rose though, who glared at him and seeked revenge by throwing yet her own paper ball.
Before they knew it, all the students were involving themselves with a paper ball fight (to which Stan made no attempt to stop as he was absorbed by his book). When the bell rang to end the lesson, everyone took their paper balls out into the corridors to throw at random students. Adrian, Mason, Rose and Lissa took this as their cue to escape the ever growing paper ball fight, all laughing as they headed towards Science.
"That was so funny!"
"I still can't believe that Stan made no attempt to stop it." Rose wiped a tear away from her eye, her face bright red from laughing with Lissa trying to catch her breath next to her.
When break came along the foursome made their way to their benches they saw that everyone else were already there waiting for them. Adrian spotted his girlfriend talking to Jill so slid his way next to her, planting a soft kiss on her neck to which Sydney reacted to by running her hand through his hair, softly stroking his locks.
Liss sat on the other side of Jill and joined in with the conversation the girls were having, and soon Jill turned her attention away from Sydney. Adrian took this as an opportunity to turn Sydney's face towards him to softly kiss her on the lips. Ever since they were caught making out on his bed, everyone has noticed a huge confidence boost in the shy girl. Sydney wasn't afraid to show affection out in public anymore; she allowed Adrian to simply kiss her on the lips without blushing or feeling uncomfortable whenever she caught people staring.
"Missed you." She couldn't help but smile when those words left his lips.
"I missed you too."
Sometimes Sydney couldn't believe that Adrian was dating someone like her. Why would some as gorgeous and sexy as Adrian, who was a talented artist as well as a people's person be with someone like her? Someone shy, quiet and geeky? Hearing words like those made Sydney realise that he chose her out of everyone he could possibly have chosen instead. He chose her because he liked her.
"I'm gonna miss you so much when you leave me for Christianity Camp."
"It will only be for a month. I'll be back in your arms before you know it."
"Nuh-uh. That month is going to suck cause I won't be able to look at your pretty face every day."
"You know I'm going to miss you just as much as you'll miss me."
"When you get back I'm not going to leave your side once." He gave her another soft kiss on the lips, stroking her cheek with his thumb. "Sydney." The tone of his voice was different, which caught the scientist off guard. It was very...passionate...just like the time he had the fever. She glanced at him, seeing something different in his eyes. "I..." He bit his lip and opened his mouth again but the bell indicating the end of break interrupted what he was going to say.
"Come on you lovebirds. Let's get back to class." Dimitri grabbed Adrian's up to pull him up. The artist pulled his girl up, the two locking hands as they walked to their next class.
"Hey, can we just hang out tonight, the two of us?" Sydney glanced at Adrian, seeing him smile down at her. "We can watch a few movies and munch on snacks. Just have some alone time."
"Sure. I'd like that."
It was coming up to nine o'clock that evening when Sydney yawned and snuggled up closer to Adrian, who had his arm around her shoulders and allowed Sydney to rest her head on his chest. The two were halfway through their second film of the night, The Vow, one of Sydney's personal favourites.
"You tired?"
"A little."
"Wanna go to sleep?" Sydney shook her head.
"Wanna stay up with you."
It was quiet again, Sydney focused on the film while Adrian focused on watching his girlfriend. Just looking at her made his heart flutter. He felt things he never felt towards another person, and he knew what those feelings were. Telling her about these feelings were a different story, but he had to let her know how he felt before they were separated for a month.
"Syd?"
"Yeah?"
"I have something to tell you." She glanced up at him. "Come here for a second." He paused the film and sat up causing Sydney to also sit up. "We've been dating for a couple of months now. And these past few months have been amazing." He reached up and stroked her cheek, gazing into her beautiful eyes. "I've felt things I've never felt before...I love you Sydney."
The scientist froze at those words. Never did she imagine that she would hear him say those words to him. The moment the beautiful words left his mouth she felt her heart clench in happiness. She couldn't help but tear up and smile at him.
"I love you too." Adrian smiled down at her, leaning down to kiss her softly to which she returned.
The soft kiss soon turned passionate as he laid her down on the bed, straddling her when she pulled his body on top of hers', wrapping her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. Their lips moved perfectly together and their hands wandered over each other's bodies. Adrian slipped his hand underneath her top, feeling her soft skin under his fingertips and feeling the shiver he caused. He couldn't help but continue the kiss.
When he felt Sydney tug at his top he broke the kiss, gazing down at her.
"I-is everything okay?" Sydney looked up at him, as if she done something wrong.
"N-no...but...d-do you want to..." She bit her lip and nodded her head. "Are you sure?"
Once again he was surprised when she flipped them over so she was straddling his waist. She slowly and nervously pulled her top off so she was just in her jeans and bra, pleased at the way Adrian seemed to just stare at her and lightly touch her stomach. He sat up and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her into yet another passionate kiss.
"Are you sure?" He repeated.
"Yes. Adrian. Please, I want it."
"Just...tell me to stop if you change your mind."
"I will."
