Sam

"Head count!" John called out, as we all loaded into the van. I was reminded of our elementary school field trips as he called out each of our names.

"One!"

"Here."

"Five?"

"Yep."

"Six!"

"I think she's in the room grabbing something." Sarah called.

"Mar?"

"Ready!"

"Eight."

"Present."

"Nine."

"How many names are there?!"

John ignored him "Ella!"

"Hi John."

"Henri!"

"Here."

"Katarina?"

"Yes sir."

"Adelina?"

"Present."

"Crayton?"

"Hm?"

"Adam?"

"Okay."

"Sarah."

"I'm holding the list for you, dummy." John ignored that too.

"Sam?"

"We have way to many people for this."And that.

"Malcolm?"

"Yes.

"Okay me... And Six."

He looked around for her, and she came running from the hotel door, holding something in her hand.

"You guys forgot the tablet in your haste to get out." She dropped it in Johns hand. "Your welcome."

He smirked bitterly at her back, and she spun around just in time to see his face. She scrunched her face up like a bunny, he stared at her, the amusement clear on his face.

"Okay. Everybody in!" She called out, looking at John defiantly, as she slipped into the van. He rolled his eyes and slipped in behind her, with Sarah and me behind him. We went the the final row, the four of us squeezing in together, not worrying aboutseat belts.

"Okay? We clear for take off?" Crayton asked, being that he was the one in the drivers seat. Everybody made noises that resembled yes, and we were off driving into the great unknown, heading towards North Carolina.

it was a drive full of various conversations, that ranged from awkward, to boring, to terrifying.

I didn't say much as my mind was wandering to what was going to happen next. I was thinking a lot about John and Sarah actually. Their relationship. And not in the weird way that most people would think. I was trying to figure out what was going to happen to them when they went back to Lorien. I was thinking a lot about Six too. And oddly enough, One.

I mean would they just take Adam back to Lorien with them so that he and One could be together? And what about Sarah? I mean would she even want to go if they have her the option too? And me? I mean the only reason I would have to stay here would be my dad, and that's even assuming he will be alive when this war is over. Assuming that I'll be alive too.

"Sam!" Six was climbing over John, and sat down next to me.

"He wanted to sit next to Sarah." She explained as she stretched her legs out, managing to hit Nine in the head in front of her. She snorted a laugh as he turned around and glared at her.

Now was just looking at the fact that Sarah was in a different seat then when we first got in the car and I really didn't remember letting her move over me.

"You okay? You've seemed really out of it the whole drive." She commented breezily. Everything about her now was reminding me of the old Six, who I hadn't seen in a while.

"I'm just thinking. You know?" She laughed bitterly.

"too much. Can I help with anything?" She shifted her whole body so she was facing me, her knee brushing against my legs. I resisted the urge to lean into her.

But I do not like her like that.

"I don't think so. I just... I don't think... I mean. I feel like this is more something I have to... Uh... Maybe like figure out-"

"Sam. Shut up. I get it. I was just offering. It's cool." She had an amused look on her face, and seemed to get I couldn't be super serious right now. "Anyway, I just wanted to warn you that when we get there I'm booking it in to find the best bedroom. I figured you may want to be my partner in crime. I mean we know Adam and One, will share. As will John and Sarah. And probably Mar and Eight. So I was thinking we'd probably be the rejects that got stuck in the basement. Super lame."

"We could just steal John and Sarah's room and put them down in the basement." My voice sounded very scandalous in my mind.

"Oh? Sam that sounds rather dirty to me. What do you think they'll be doing that they will need a whole basement to themselves?" Her eyes were dancing in humor, and I had to fight to keep from laughing."

"Well what did you think we'd be doing to need a whole basement?!" I kept the joke going, finally letting myself laugh.

She raised her eyebrows suggestively, and a small smirk opened itself on her lips.

"Wouldn't you like to know." She ran her hand through her hair, and laughed loudly, I saw Henri look at us in the mirror and laugh. Ella spun to face us quickly in her seat next to Nine, but didn't say anything.

I didn't feel the need to say anything in reply, just laughed along with her, and settled in the very comfortable silence that filled the car when our exchange was done. And I grew even more comfortable as she slowly leaned her head down and carefully rested it on my shoulder, shutting her eyes tightly.

I didn't miss the look that John cast my way, over Sarah's head. I tried to make my eye roll appear to be nonchalant. But by the expression on his face I failed at that attempt.

"okay. We'll probably end up pulling over for the night, unless-"

"if you're tired I can totally drive." Katarina called from her seat. "I'm definitely not on any wanted lists. So we should be in the clear.

My dad smiled at her gratefully and nodded, saying something about lasting a few more hours.

I figured that it wasn't a super huge concern to me about who was driving so long as they didn't kill us or get pulled over. But I knew I couldn't do it, because I'd screw everybody if we were pulled over.

Six stirred in her sleep, pulling me out of my thoughts. I noticed her eyes were pinched shut tightly, and her hands were wringing together. I reached my arm back and tapped John on the shoulder, but Sarah grabbed my hand and shook her head. I noticed then that he was asleep as well. And his hands were in the same position.

Sarah looked up at me, her eyes slightly confused as she glanced from Six to John. I nodded, not wanting to speak and wake them up, Six's breathing hitched and she shifted her body again, her head remaining on my shoulder.

Sarah was looking more worried now, and John's breathing hastened too, neither of us knew what to do, as we looked from our sleeping friends to each other.

Then John shot up with a gasp, clutching the cup holder and Sarah's hand, eyes bugging.

"No!" The car swerved as my dad heard John's cry, and everyone turned to look.

"John? What is it what's-"

"Wake her up. Six! Get her up!" His eyes were still fear filled as he looked at Six, who was sweating and panting as if she was running a mile, eyes still squeezed shut. I began to shake her, calling her name. Pushing her shoulder. She wasn't responding.

" Dammit!" He reached over Sarah and I, and pulled her arm, pulling until her head slipped off my shoulder.

she gasped as she fell, and shot up, clutching my hand the way John had Sarah's. She spun to face John, her eyes also a panic, and her breathing still racing.

"What the hell was that?!" She yelled, her voice and octave higher than usual, as she squeezed my hand, to a point near shattering the bones. John shook his head, everyone still looking back waiting for an explanation for what just happened around us.

"We have a problem." John began, still looking at Six.

Woah. This was a long wait. Had some more medical problems. And we finally figured out what was/is wrong with Keelan. She's okay, well she's getting better. But we need a lot of support, as things are a little different than what we expected. We just have to pay a little bit enter attention to her to make sure she is okay. But it's you guys that help us out and get her through what she went through. She'll probably put up the next chapter, and explain more. So hoped you like this chapter. Review and let me know please! I love knowing what you guys think!

sorry for the wait!

Love you dearly.
