Chapter 29 (Part One)

Marthe's POV

My dreams were a mix of things; my family, home, Dean. Just as things were starting to get steamy between Dean and I there was a sudden jolt of surprise that I felt and I looked up. There, in front of me, was Castiel looking non-expressive as usual.

"Hello, Marthe. What are you dreaming about?" He asked me, looking around him.

I arched an eyebrow, "Doesn't it look obvious?"

Castiel's face furrowed in confusion and then looked at the position I was in and blushed before stuttering out, "O-oh, I didn't n-notice."

"Clearly." I said, getting off Dean which made him vanish and left Castiel and I alone in the room together.

Castiel straightened up slightly, "Listen to me. You have to stop it."

"Stop what?" I asked him, still unable to remember what part of the story I was in.

Just as I was trying to ask Castiel again he placed two fingers on my forehead and I had the strange feeling of waking up agian. I looked around at my surroundings before I could hear that someone was telling me something,

"Move it lady. You can't sleep there. You're the second person to be sleeping on a bench this morning. Didn't realise there was an increase in homeless people at the moment."

I blinked as the sunlight hit my eyes and tried to focus on the person that was standing over me. After a few minutes my sight focused on the person and I found out that it was a police officer.

"Another person sleeping on a bench? Who would the first person be?" I asked, still trying to get used to the bright sunlight.

"No idea. Just some guy that was opposite you."

"Yeah, so where did he go?" I wanted to get some directions to somewhere where I could find out where I was.

"He went to the diner across the road. Maybe you should go there for some food?" The police officer suggested, and then walked off.

I stretched and then looked around to see where the diner was that the police officer had told me about. I saw a sign out of the corner of my eye saying 'Jay Bird's Diner' and headed my way towards the diner. As I pushed the doors of the diner open I saw that Dean was on one of the bar stools with another young man.

"Dean!" I called.

Dean suddenly whipped round to look at me and smiled when he saw me. I walked towards him and sat down by the side of him.

"Castiel bought you here too?" Dean asked me.

I nodded and then noticed the young man next to Dean, "Who's that, then?"

Dean shook his head, "No idea."

"Hey, Winchester." A voice called from across the diner.

Both Dean and I, along with the young man next to Dean, turned our heads towards the voice. The owner of the voice wasn't looking at Dean though.

"Son of a bitch. How you doing, Corporal?"

"Hey, Mr. D." The young man beside Dean said.

"I heard you were back." 'Mr.D' commented.

"Yeah, a little while now."

"Good to have you home, John, damn good."

As sudden realisation dawned on me as to who this character actually was, young John Winchester in fact, Dean seemed to be going through the same phase since he let slip,

"Dad?"

I nudged him a little with my elbow but thankfully John hadn't heard.

"Well, say hello to your old man for me." Mr. D told John.

"You got it, Mr. D." John turned back round and then noticed Dean staring at him, "Do we know each other?"

"I guess not." Dean answered, and shook his head a little.

I sighed, "Sorry for him. He's pretty dazed at the moment."

"Don't be sorry for him, lady. He's his own problem, not yours." John told me, but when he got up he turned back round to Dean, "Take it easy, pal. Keep your lady here safe too. Your lucky to have her."

"Yeah." Dean replied, while I just smiled pleasantly at him.

When John had walked out of the diner I turned back to Dean who seemed to look dazed from meeting his past Dad, "Well, at least I've got your Father's approval."

A snort and a burst of laughter from Dean was my reply which made me smile.

After a few minutes in the diner Dean paid for what we had ordered and we went off trying to follow John Winchester. We had no idea where he was going and this made it even more difficult.

"Can't you remember from the show what happened when I met my past Dad?" Dean asked me, walking quickly which made it hard for me to keep up.

"Only bits and pieces. If anything flashes before my eyes I'll blurt it out to you." I told him, scanning around to see if there were any signs of anywhere that I may have recognised from the show.

"Now would be a great time for it to happen." Dean said, sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes and kept walking. I knew that Castiel would shop up sometime soon but I didn't know when. We walked from street to street and it was just when we came to the fourth street when a wall from my memory broke down. I could see a picture of where John was and who he was talking to. All around him were cars and price signs.

"He's at a car dealership!" I shouted, gasping.

"Finally." Dean said, but suddenly stopped as Castiel appeared and blocked his way, "What is this?"

"What does it look like?" Castiel answered back, looking at Dean sternly.

"Is it real?"

"Very."

"Okay, so what? Angels got their hands on some Deloreans? How did I get here?" Dean asked, raising an eyebrow while I tried not to chuckle at the Back to the Future reference.

"Time is fluid, Dean. It's not easy, but we can bend it on occasion." Castiel explained.

"Well bend it back or tell me what the hell I'm doing here!" Dean demanded.

"I told you, you have to stop it."

"Stop what? Huh? What, is there something nasty after my Dad?"

"Marthe should know by now where she is with the storyline. Why don't you ask her?" Castiel turned his gaze towards me.

Before I could answer back there was a car horn which scared both Dean and I and made us forget about Castiel for a minute. However, when we both looked back at the spot where he was we found that he had taken off.

"Oh, come on! What, are you allergic to straight answers, you son of a bitch!?" Dean yelled.

I sighed, "Come on, let's go and find John."

We walked for a few more streets before we found John at the car dealership. Just as we neared I suddenly stopped at the edge of the dealership. Dean turned around to me with a confused expression on his face,

"Are you alright? What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I just think I should leave you and stay here while you talk about cars with him." I told him, crossing my arms around my chest.

"You're not a fan of cars, are you?" Dean grinned at me.

"I can drive them but I'm not fanatical like you two are, no. I'll come and see you when I think it's the right time to interrupt." I said, and nodded my head towards John in encouragement.

Dean gave me a small nod and then went to speak with John. Of course, I didn't need to go over there to find out what they were talking about. My memory of this episode was coming back slowly but surely and I was starting to remember things that were going to happen in the near future. I knew John was going to buy the 67' Chevy Impala because of Dean's advice, I knew Dean was going to meet his Mum and I knew that Dean would try and stop the yellow eyed demon. How much information I was able to tell Dean I didn't know. Castiel wasn't being that helpful and I don't think he would answer any of my pray-

"Marthe! Get over here!" Dean called to me, making me blink and look up.

Both Dean and John were looking at me with amused expressions which made me blush slightly as I strolled towards them.

"You were so out of it." Dean joked, as I stood to the side of him.

"Sorry, I just got caught up in thinking, that's all." I told him, shrugging.

"Thinking about little ol' me?" Dean smirked, and when I blushed his smirk grew even wider, if that was even possible.

John looked at me curiously as Dean carried on with their conversation, "327 four barrel, 275 horses. A little TLC and this thing is cherry."

John looked at the Impala, "You know man, you're right."

Dean nodded towards the van that John had obviously been thinking about getting, "Then what are you buying that thing for?"

John shrugged, "I kinda promised someone I would."

"Over a 67' Chevy? I mean, come on, this is the car of a lifetime. Trust me, this thing's still gonna be badass when it's 40." Dean told him, and I gave him a quick look but thankfully John didn't pick up on the meaning.

John stood there thinking for a while before holding out his hand to Dean, "John Winchester. Thanks."

As Dean shook his hand he introduced himself as, "Dean Van Halen and thank you."

I rolled my eyes and then felt a little taken aback when John turned to me with his hand out.

"I believe we haven't been introduced." John said, smiling.

I smiled and shook his hand, "Marthe Boghaert."

John raised an eyebrow, "That's a foreign name. No offense, lady. I didn't mean it in that manner."

I chuckled, "None taken. It's fine, I'm from Belgium if you were wondering."

"Belgium? Well, you don't hear about that country everyday. How intriguing." John commented.

"Ok, ok. Break it up you two lovebirds." Dean told us, stepping in between us.

John chuckled, "You don't need to become jealous. I have a lady of my own."

Dean glared at John, "Let's keep it that way."

John chuckled again and then went back to the Impala to have another look at it. Dean rubbed the back of his neck before saying,

"I was in pretty rough shape this morning, huh?"

I looked at Dean curiously to try and figure out what information he was trying to get out of John but I decided to stand back and listen as John answered,

"No kidding."

Dean carried on, "I've been hung over before but, hey, I was getting chills in that diner. You didn't feel any of those cold spots, did you?"

I had to roll my eyes a little at the lack of tact that Dean had in questioning John. It seemed that John was oblivious to what Dean was questioning him about though since he answered,

"Nope."

"I swore I smelled something weird too, you know? Like... like rotten eggs. You didn't happen to smell any sulpher by chance?" Dean asked, trying to look as genuine as possible.

John looked at Dean with a puzzled expression, "No."

"No... There been any cattle mutilations in town recently?" Dean asked, as if it were the most casual question in the world to ask a stranger.

By chance both John and I answered at the same time. I squeaked out in protest,

"Dean!"

While John started, "Okay, mister! Stop it!"

However, it didn't seem to work with Dean since he just kept talking, "Yeah, if only I knew what to stop. Listen, uh - watch out for yourself okay?"

John looked at Dean with a raised eyebrow, "Yeah, sure."

After a moment Dean patted the car and began to leave. I looked over at John and said,

"Sorry about him. He's not thinking straight at the moment. Hope he didn't stress you out too much."

John smiled, "Make sure you look after him. I think he needs more care than he realises."

I chuckled, "You're not far off the truth. Anyway, have a good day."

"You have a good day too missy." John told me and I turned away.

It took me awhile to find Dean again but he was only a couple of streets away from where the car dealership was so I didn't have to walk too far of a distance. When I caught up to him I began to question him,

"What was all that about? You know what you did there was risky."

Dean rolled his eyes, "And you flirting with him wasn't risky?"

I sighed, "Is this what it's all about? Please, it's not like he's going to fall in love with me. I don't even belong here. We both don't belong here."

"So, why did you flirt with him?" Dean asked.

"I didn't flirt with him, I was just being nice. Or maybe you don't know what nice is. There's a difference between being nice and flirting." I told him, starting to get irritated with his behaviour.

"Really? Well, they seemed the same to me when you were talking to John." Dean stated, looking a little jealous.

"Are you jealous?" I asked him outright, and in a feeling of triumph I saw that he was blushing a little, "You needn't be. You've got no competition."

I smirked and then went to find a car for us to use since I knew we were going to need one to spy on John and Mary with.

We waited for a few minutes before the Impala pulled up on the pavement beside the house. Dean and I rolled our windows open to hear the conversation. A young woman came runing towards the Impala and came to a stop beside it.

"Hey." John greeted her.

"What's this?" The girl asked.

"My car."

As the girl walked around the car John followed her,

"What happened to the van?"

"Mary, this is better than the van! This has got a 327, a four barrel carburettor." John explained.

Dean's face came to realisation before he said, "Mum?"

Throughout the day we tracked John and Mary and we found that they went to a milkshake place. Dean and I huddled close together as we looked into the window of the building to hear what John and Mary were saying. At the moment nothing important was being said.

"Sammy, wherever you are, Mum is a babe. I'm going to hell... again." Dean commented.

I chuckled at his comment but went on looking into the room.

"So, before when you said that I didn't have any competition. What did you mean? Did you mean that you would date me?" Dean asked me, smirking at me.

I blushed, "I just meant that I wasn't interested in anyone else at the moment."

Before Dean could answer back there was a noise from behind us and we both turned around to see that Mary was standing behind us with her arms crossed across her chest.

"Why are you following us?" Mary asked, looking sternly at the two of us.

"Errr..." I tried to make something up but my brain wasn't working.

Mary raised an eyebrow at me and then lunged at Dean. Instinctively I tried to lunge towards her to grab her off Dean but Dean grabbed my arm and pushed me to the side so that I wasn't in the way. Mary then kneed him in the stomach and Dean grunted while crossing his arms across his stomach but that didn't stop Mary from attacking. She went across to him and grabbed him by his jacket and threw him against the building.

"Dean!" I yelped.

Mary went to punch him again but, thankfully, Dean was able to get away fast enough so that she missed.

"Are you crazy?" Dean asked, staring wide-eyed at his Mum.

Mary ignored him and continued on with her attack. I was starting to get irritated with her behaviour towards Dean so I stepped in front of him which made me receive a hefty punch on the side of my face. Dean grabbed me with a look of annoyance on his face and pushed me to the side while he grabbed both of Mary's arms and pinned her against the building.

"You've been trailing us since my house." Mary accused us.

"I don't know what you're talking about-" Dean started but was interrupted by Mary,

"Really?"

There was another scuffle as both Dean and Mary continued fighting. However, it didn't go on for long since Dean was able to pin Mary back against the wall.

"Okay, how about we talk about this, huh?" Dean asked.

Mary continued struggling, "Let me go!"

While she struggled Dean caught sight of something and I could see him looking at it intently before he asked,

"Are you a hunter?"

Why? Who wants to know?" Mary asked, looking at him suspiciously.

Dean must have thought it safe enough to let go of Mary since he let her free while he explained, "I'm one and so is my friend here. She's new to the business, so be kind to her."

I nodded to Mary, "Marthe Boghaert. Pleased to meet you."

Mary raised an eyebrow, "You're definitely not American. Fine, I'll listen to whatever you have to say as long as you explain to me why you were stalking John and I."

Dean nodded, "Of course."

It took a while to explain what we were doing here to Mary. Obviously, we left the major points out so that she wouldn't freak out on us but we didn't change that much stuff about why we were here. Finally, after everything was explained Mary seemed to be more trusting with us since she told us,

"Follow John and I in the Impala to my house. I'll talk to you more there."

Dean and I both nodded and then we all went our separate ways.

As we followed John and Mary I kept glancing at Dean from the passenger seat.

"Why do you keep staring at me?" Dean asked abruptly.

I shrugged, "I just want to make sure you're ok."

I could see a small smile form on Dean's face, "We're got a hundred things to worry about right now and you're worried about me?"

"Can't I be worried about my friend?" I challenged him, crossing my arms across my chest.

"Oh, so we're friends now?" Dean questioned me, with a joking tone.

"Well, we don't have to be if you don't want to but I thought we've been through plenty to make us friends so why don't we make it official?" I shrugged.

Dean chuckled, "Yeah, sure. Whatever, we're friends."

I smiled slightly and then got back to looking at the back of the Impala. It was weird seeing someone else drive it and not be in it myself and not have Dean drive it. Then I though how it was Dean's Dad driving it and how much life that Impala would have.

"Hey, you sure you're ok?" Dean asked me.

I shook my head to get me out of my reverie and looked over to him, "Yeah, just thinking about the Impala and how much history it's going to have over the years."

"Yeah," Dean sighed, wistfully, "That baby's going to be going through a hell of a lot."

I nodded and then went back to car watching. The rest of the drive went by silently and it only took us a few more minutes to get back to Mary's house. When the Impala had parked up outisde the house Dean parked our car a bit farther away from it so we wouldn't be seen getting out and heading over to the house. We made our way carefully to the side of the house to hide ourselves so that John couldn't see us. We had made a plan with Mary as to where we would be so that she could find us. We found our hiding place as we caught the last bit conversation between John and Mary,

"See you later?"

"If you're lucky." Mary answered, kissing John and then made her way back to the house.

When John had driven off Mary walked over to where Dean and I were hiding,

"Dean and Marthe, right? I'm not sure you two should come in."

"You can trust us. I mean, c'mon, we're all hunters, right? I mean, we're - we're practically family." Dean answered, which made me shoot him a warning look.

Mary continued on, "Yeah, thing is, my Dad, he's a little, um..."

"Oh, I gotta meet him." Dean started but I nudged him to stay quiet.

"You've heard of him?" Mary asked, and looked at him curiously.

Dean shrugged, "Clearly not enough."

Mary sighed, "OK, come on in but if my Dad gives you any grief don't go blaming it on me."

"Wouldn't dream of it." I piped up, glaring slightly at Dean.

"This way then." Mary told us, waving to us to follow her.
