Jack gasped loudly opening his eyes wide in panic. He was floating upside down through the air. Wait. What? He blinked hard and shook his throbbing head his vision slowly connecting him to what was going on. He could still hear the cries of a battle, but it was getting more distant as he was carried away. Feeling the tight hand wrapped around his ankle Jack's eyes widened. Slowly he looked up.

He angrily kicked his foot alerting Pitch too his consciousness.

"Put me down Pitch!" Jack snarled angrily struggling with all his might.

"With pleasure." Pitch smiled, and he sped up swinging his arm back a little.

Before Jack's brain could click he was thrown forcefully from the air landing hard and painfully rolling across an icy cold surface until his back came to slam into a tree. It was his tree. The same spot he would visit every night.

Coughing harshly, Jack brought a shaking hand beneath him and pushed himself to all fours before a brutal kick had him crashing back down onto the frozen lake.

"I tried so hard Jack. All you had to was obey me? It really wasn't that difficult."

"Piss off!" he replied angrily, taking deep breaths. His vision was extremely fuzzy. Trying his best to calm himself down he reached out for his staff, which of course, wasn't there. Cursing he willed himself to close his eyes and take a steady breath, only half listening to Pitch's words.

"Right from the start Jack. Who knew such a pathetic boy could thwart me? Not once, but twice now, right?"

"Yup. I'd be pretty embarrassed if I were you. "He gasped out, gritting his teeth and slowly raising himself to turn and look at his enemy before him.

"It seems that I made a mistake," Pitch began as though he hadn't heard him, "I could never change you. Could never get you to see straight. You're right though. I can't kill you. Pity. You will come to beg for death, for it all to end. To sleep. And once I have your little friends in my control they can be put to the same fate. And you will spend every day of your worthless time watching them pay for your mistakes. And as for your little friend, Jamie is it?-"

"You won't touch any of them!" Jack growled through clenched teeth.

Spinning around to face him Pitch scowled. On trembling legs Jack stood, his beaten body shaking with the effort as he curled his hands into tight fists.

"I can do what I like! Who's going to stop me Jack?" He spat a red gleam in his eyes.

"Me."

Night was spreading across Burgess like the flames that had once burned through the streets. Dark smoke still hung in the air refusing to leave as it wound its way around people's throats choking them harshly. The small village had been completely evacuated. The baffled villagers were standing a little way away from the destruction. What was once their homes; most had been burned to ashes. Crying families stood in huddles as the police guarded them. Blankets were passed around as well as plastic cups full of tea. Children lay safe and asleep in their parent's arms after being checked upon by the medics who were working way into the night. Frequently ambulances took off into the growing darkness as another person was taken to hospital to be treated but no deaths had yet come about. Most people were accounted for and those who were not were now being searched for. Down in the ruins of the village many volunteers were helping the fire and police department in the search for any of the missing people. A little while away, unknown to the villagers a great battle was slowly coming to an end…

"I…I don't know how much longer we can last mate!" Bunny yelled to North and Sandy behind his back as he knocked aside a whole row of Pitch's nightmares. "Tooth's out, "He gestured to the small heap being protected between them. "I just saw Pitch take off with Jack, we gotta help him!"

"But how? These things are getting…harder to beat." North said wearily slicing one in half as he breathlessly lent one sword.

"We need help." Bunny yelled throwing his boomerang hard and hitting a particularly vicious horse in the eye.

Sandy waved hurriedly but neither guardian seemed to notice.

"We've played all our tricks! Yeti's are out, Elves are down almost."

Sandy materialised an arrow above his head whilst slicing a fearling apart with his golden whip, glaring at his two friends who continued to ignore him.

"Well what the bloody hell do we do?" Bunny said exasperatedly.

"I don't know-" A sudden ringing noise interrupted their concentration as they turned to see sandy brandishing his whip with one hand and shaking one of the already-dazed elves in his other. Seeing what he was pointing at Bunny said, "Brilliant Sandy! Why didn't you say before?"

Feeling a sense of Déjà vu, Sandy rolled his eyes and gently put down the elf, lightly patting him on his head.

"Manny! If can hear us, we need help!" North yelled into the sky unconsciously stabbing the fearling that leaped at him snapping its teeth ferociously.

"Oi!" Bunny shouted angrily to the bright glowing moon in the sky.

North suddenly grunted, catching himself with his swords. Distracted Bunnymund leaped towards him before he was once again thrown to the side by a powerful kick. He crashed down hard holding his side in pain as he looked towards the sea of black horses crashing towards him in a tidal wave of black.

"This is gonna bloody hurt." He muttered to himself raising a giant paw in his face and bracing for the impact.

But it did not come. Through his scrunched up and closed eyes a bright light shone through his eyelids. Slowly and daringly he opened one eye. The sea of dark beasts were looking towards the sky and he too followed his gaze.

Suddenly a white light shot down towards them all and two blinks and the nightmares before him were gone.

"WOOOOO!" he yelled into the night, a surge of energy bursting through him as he leapt wildly into the air shooting round the battlefield as only he could. Moonlight shone down on their warzone and he looked to North and Sandy who were glowing brightly.

"Woah! Look at you guys!"

"And you!" North shouted. Bunny looked down at his own paws to see that he too was glowing as his friends. He felt energetic and powerful, as though he could outrun the world. He shot towards his friends kicking as many nightmares in the face as he could. Grabbing his two boomerang's he skidded to a halt before them spinning them in his paws and smiling at them both.

"Ready?"

"Ready!"

Bunny spun around to see Tooth fluttering madly behind them, a glint of determination in her eyes. She glowed moon white as them just as the army of soldiers that stood behind her. She floated beside them, their army of white-glowing elves, yetis, Easter rocks and now moon-sanded dinosaurs stood behind.

Protectors of children stood side-by-side. With a yell of determination a wall of black was met with a wall of white.

Pitch laughed coldly.

Jack felt a shiver run down his spine at the monsters maniacal laugh.

"You?" Pitch said smiling cruelly.

"Yup. That's right." 'Gotta keep him talking' Jack thought as he fought with all his strength to stay immobile.

"Look at you!" Pitch yelled loudly causing Jack to helplessly flinch. Pitch only smiled more. "You can barley stand. You haven't even got your staff. Even if you could find some energy to summon any power it would literally destroy you! What are you going to do jack? No family. No friends. No-one. You're all alone. Just like me."

"I'm nothing like you!" Jack raged, glaring at the nightmare king.

Pitch was suddenly in front of him clenching his long spindly fingers around Jack's face. Jack grunted in pain. "You are just like me!" He screamed into his face causing Jack to close his eyes. Softly he said, "They don't care for you Jack. They just want to use you. That's all you are in this world Jack. A pawn."

Jack lost his temper and spat harshly at the monster before him. Pitch let go in disgust then belted him harshly across the face.

Jack fell back to the floor not having the energy to get up.

"You filthy brat." Pitch spat. "You think you've ruined my plans? Think that I was such an idiot not too know you wouldn't screw up? It's all your good at."

"Oh yea?" Jack slurred looking up ready to insult him again, but this time something caught his eye. Behind Pitch who bore down on him the moon glowed brighter than he had seen it in a long time. Manny. Could he help in situations like this? Surely he could… right? He was the man in the moon for god sake! Quickly looking away not to cause Pitch curiosity he looked back into the sickly face of fear itself.

"Oh yes." He chuckled softly. "You've caused me enough in the past Jack. You really think just because you've saved this village you have won? This village is over. And once I have the guardians you are going to witness the destruction I have made, and then watch the destruction of its inhabitants.

"So now you want to kill people!?" Jack yelled outraged momentarily forgetting about the moon.

"Revenge."

"Who on?" Jack demanded, sickened by the very idea.

"You."

Jack blinked up at him momentarily confused. "You have me. You don't need to hurt people. I'm the one who's got in the way, messing your plans."

"Yes but that is why I must punish you jack! See you are beginning to unders-"

"These people have done nothing to you! You're meant to be fear! Not death! Hurt me! You've gotten pretty good at it the past couple weeks!"

"Oh don't worry Jack," He laughed coldly as Jack lay breathing heavily on the floor. "I won't forget you."

Jack tore his gaze away, trembling nervously. What the hell could he do? How could he shout to the moon without Pitch noticing? He would surely do something terrible if he did that. And would Manny even listen? He hadn't listened to him in 300 years…

But before he could ponder any more thoughts, pitch wrapped his hand into his ice white hair and hauled him to his unsteady feet. He gasped in surprise before he was thrown across the ice skidding into the middle.

He was battered, bruised, suffering from unbelievable blood-loss. He had cuts and scars engrave d into his body, broken ribs, broken arm steadily healing. He honestly didn't know how he could even manage to be awake right now. He was guessing being immortal and all that had its advantages though and its disadvantages. For example. Being strong even after a severe beating- advantage, Fighting crazed immortal nightmare kings- disadvantage.

Before he could even raise himself more of Pitch's black electricity hit him on the back shooting through his body twisting his muscles whilst he screamed. He couldn't contain his cries no more. Didn't have the energy too hold them back. Not even the thought of Pitch's smug face could get him to hold back as he back arched in pure agony.

His pain was lifted and he lay thee shaking on the floor, his harsh breaths rattling his ribs. He blinked twice and for a moment he thought he saw a streak of white flash across the darkening sky. Staring at the moon for a moment longer he shook his head.

"you…coward." He managed to gasp.

Pitch only laughed as he kicked him harshly in his already damaged chest, earning a painful cry to escape jack's mouth. "We've been through this already Jack. Surely you don't want to get your ass kicked again?"

"Oh yea…cause I'm really…in position…to fight."

A kick in the face.

Jack tested his jaw trying to ignore the stinging as he felt fresh blood run over the dried.

"Like a child," Kick, "Could possibly," burst of electricity, "Beat me." Pitch hauled Jack to his feet once more just to throw him back down. Jack yelled as his head bounced of the thick solid ice underneath him. Dazed he spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Done b'for…" Jack murmured groaning in pain as he continually defied Pitch.

"Why won't you STAY DOWN!" He yelled in a rage slamming his foot onto Jack's back feeling sweet relief at every cry of agony that escaped his bruised and bloodied lips. "Anytime now," Pitch said as the sharp black whip slowly materialised in his hand, "My nightmares will have overpowered your guardians. You have lost Jack Frost."

And without the chance of a smart comeback a surprised yell escaped Jack's throat as Pitch's whip struck down once more. "I don't see why you wear that thing anymore Jack. It just has a habit of getting in my way."

Crack. The whip sunk into his flesh ripping quickly and effectively.

"We…never..st-stop..fighting….Urghh!" Another deep cut marked its way onto his back.

"Never stop fighting me you say?" Pitch laughed cruelly. "It makes the task only more exciting for me." No remorse flashed across his eyes as he threw the whip down as hard as could.

Just as Pitch raised his arm again he was lifted roughly of the ground and thrown across the ice. Jack gasped softly as a white light erupted inside his body. All of his pain vanished in that moment as he glowed with the power of the moon. He knew that his injuries were still present and that they would as surely return, but for now as his trusty staff materialised on the ground before him, he knew he could stand.

Reaching out a glowing white arm Jack got to his feet, energy rushing through him as he stood and raised his staff, smiling at the bewildered expression on Pitch's face.

"Let's end this."
